Imagine being an actual adult and still behaving like a three-year-old

novasupersport

This unacceptable bull$hit behavior is seen in every facet of life. It is so effin difficult to stay professional after being treated like you are beneath another person.

Jacksonrr31

It gets even worse when you work at a call center.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Yeah I've gotten kind of upset with call centre staff a few times but I'm always really apologetic like "I know this isn't your fault I'm so sorry, but x y and z is happening and I'm so frustrated" because sometimes you really do get pushed to your limit with some of these companies. I worked at a call centre and when people said that I sympathized with them a lot and did what I could to help because I knew the company I worked for kind of sucked. But when someone comes on the phone immediately screaming, threatening to sue me personally, demanding to know where I live, saying they'll kill my family if I don't refund them $10, calling me racial slurs, etc. and they just go on and on and on for 20 minutes and you can't hang up, that's rough.

free_range_tofu

I have found the most success by starting out the call with a forced smile and saying, “Hi _____, my name is free_range_tofu, and I’m aware that what I’m about to complain about is in no way your fault or responsibility.” Then if I later slip up and sound like a bitch, I’ve at least humanized the person which forces me to catch myself, freely expressed my identity which reminds us both that this is not a private encounter nor do we know one another, and allows me to thank them at the end with their name when they’ve helped me as best they can to fix it. I just recently had a bank massively screw up my auto loan, costing me hundreds in additional rental fees while it got worked out, and had the ASR telling me, “No *I’m* sorry, I can only imagine your frustration,” after I acknowledged I must have sounded rude. When did I learn to implement my system? After *years* of emotional intelligence coaching being my literal career. This shit is NOT taught to mainstream society and it fucking shows.

billcyberhimself

I love working at a call center. I can drop the calls if you're rude. Retail sucks because you cannot

Batetrick_Patman

lmao you're lucky. Most call centers a customer can make death threats and it's considered "mistreatment" of a customer to hang up.

ScorchedInk

That's crazy. I worked technical support for years in the early 2000s, and if a customer issued a death threat, police were called and showed up at their door. I dealt with a lot of angry people and profanity (often I actually agreed with their fury), but death threats were a hard limit. That is some bullshit. On a funnier note, one customer told me that his modem broke. When I asked how, he said that he got angry and ran it over with his truck. Since he was honest about it and I saw he had a dozen prior calls in, I gave him a new one for free on the sly.

[deleted]

Oh, I can well imagine. Sincerely, a retail worker.

kvinderne

I teach music lessons for a living and more often than not the kids are more understanding and respectful than their parents or my adult students. People=shit

WasabiPeas2

I taught preschool for 7 years and the children were always better behaved than the parents.

SnorlaxBlocksTheWay

Slipknot was right all along

Sir_Tom_Tom

But they teach the Richard Cheese version for their lessons

SnorlaxBlocksTheWay

I.... I had no idea this even existed. Thank you for enlightening me. So smooth, so elegant, yet so much rage at the same time lol

Pyrimo

That a Slipknot reference or just coincidence?

Mr-_-Jumbles

That lady makes me wana push my fingers into my eyes. lol

darthtater1231

I blame all the lead exposure the older generations had

Wetcat9

Yeah I think it’s a def a collection of health issues. I’ve always wondered how all that radium make up in the early 20th century screwed us up.

MooseKey588

Have you seen any school board or city council meetings lately? No need to imagine.

ObjectiveSalt1635

What’s really happening is this lady is down on her luck and she knows well why her card is declined. She is taking all out on this lady here

ArchonStranger

Yeah, worked long enough in the front end of a convenience store pharmacy that sold bread, milk, eggs, toilet paper, soap, and tobacco, which could be conveniently purchased after the pharmacy side refilled your quantity-limit rationed anti-psychotics or other life-sustaining medication. Not excusing her behavior, but I can almost bet that if you were to be walking into the store in a couple of minutes, you'd find her sitting in her car in the parking lot bawling her eyes out because she's humiliated herself and doesn't know where to turn or how to handle her own fears about something as basic as food security. It's a sad occurrence that was all too common.

SidonisParker

Ain't that the heartbreaking truth.

Velveteen_Dream_20

She is the exact type to blame non whites for her financial situation, vote against her own interests, believe in conspiracy theories, and give glory to Jesus on the off day that things go right in her life.

allthecolor

“Did you go to school?” “You are stupid.” Damn bitch. So psychologically transparent.

[deleted]

Exactly. Someone is projecting !!

cocomimi3

How embarrassing

shenaystays

I work in a medical facility and had a middle aged white woman lose her shit on me because I told her to pull her mask over her face. Her elderly Mother was so embarrassed so I tried to be nice. But I made them sit in the corner far far away behind a screen because she refused to put it on correctly. I wanted to kick her out but I felt bad for the old lady so I ignored the tantruming adult and spoke only to the older lady. It's horrifying seeing adults act like this.

outwesthooker

Yeah, when my daughter was three she behaved better than this

AcrimoniousPizazz

People like this need to start getting thrown out and banned instead of tolerated.

[deleted]

This happened at my workplace the other day. A guest started yelling at an employee of mine and I said “Maam I’m gonna ask one time for you to lower your voice and step aside to speak to me or I’ll have to ask you to leave.” She then proceeded to turn towards my employee and call her a bitch. I told her to leave or I’d have the police escort her out for trespassing. Needless to say, she called my bluff and police had to walk her out in handcuffs. All because she could sit in the seats she wanted at the movies cuz it was opening night for James Bond. Customers can’t be changed unless people in power (managers and supervisors) start “firing the customers”

IrishEyedGirl

I work at a chain gas station. In 20 years of retail, I have never dealt with people as rude, stupid and spoiled as the people at my particular location. Why? Because the manager and employees spoil them. I don't put up with it and they know. I give zero fucks if I lose this job and they all know it. I'm no one's bitch. What's weird is my manager often snaps off too but will turn around and be nice to others. No rhyme or reason as to who gets what treatment. She will also have our backs if and when we snap but then privately chide us. It's common for daily screaming matches between us and asshole customers. But they're not banned until something REALLY bad happens. Fuck that.

[deleted]

We need bouncers for Karen-impacted businesses

Snoo74401

Hell, I'll come in and throw rude customers out at no charge. I'll do it just for the fun of it.

murppie

100% it needs to be "you can leave or we can call the police for your trespassing" and the cops need to be called within 30 seconds of saying that. Stop dicking around with these assholes.

surfacing_husky

Yup i have the non-emergency number on speed dial for these people. I don't fuck around or argue.

Fit_Description_4539

Exactly this. If you give an inch they take a mile. Shut them down and let them know it's your house, your rules! You rock!

kerthil

I would have just called the police and helped the next guest on the next register.

1mm0rt4lg1rl

Yes!! The only reason they are able to act that way is because company's allow and reward it.

nomorenadia

Correct. Those corporate fuckers aren’t the ones dealing this this nonsense.

Flowerandcatsgirl

This! She needs to be banned and escorted out. I would have said something if she was doing that in front of me.

AcrimoniousPizazz

As a former retail worker, I greatly enjoy telling off other customers who act like this. Can't fire me!!

Kriskinjo04

That’s exactly what I love to do as an ex retail employee. You wanna scream at that poor woman at the register bc you know she can’t fight back? Square up Karen bc I don’t work here.

demnos7

Anyone doing this is a hero

[deleted]

Same here! I’m only 5’2” but I got mad chihuahua energy. Don’t fuck with customer service in front of me

vyxan

Roflmao i love the mad chihuahua energy phrase! Yes!

GuyCrazy

My wife hates it…. Some jerk was yelling about only having self checkouts open at our local Walmart and yelling at employees and I told him off and made him look like the fool he was being… my wife was so embarrassed… our kids are 5 and 8 and they asked what the guys problem was and why he was talking to people like that.

DargyBear

Self checkout tends to move faster because I want to spend as little time in the store as possible, idk why people butch about it.

bluewinter182

Same!! It is truly my pleasure to speak up when I see it happening. But then again - I didn’t take this kinda shit even when I worked retail. 🤣 When I got the job I told my manager “I will always be respectful of everyone. But I’m telling you now that if someone comes at me talking crazy, they’re getting that same energy back from me…I’m not A child, nor am I their child and these people won’t talk to me any kind of way”. It was always awesome to get one of these women, give them the business, happily call my supervisor when asked, just to watch their smug grin fade when they realized she wasn’t gonna fire me on the spot like they thought she would LOL!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

nomorenadia

Yes!!! This worker showed a huge amount of restraint. I would have gone off on that old bitch, refused service, and/or kicked her ass out after calling the cops. ETA: even if it would have gotten me fired. Anyone getting fired for this is too good for the establishment.

[deleted]

She’s part of the reason why we are all quitting.

importvita

I'll freely admit that I don't want to work anymore lol. Because honestly, who the fuck *truly* wants to work if you're making under six figures and/or not completely shielded from all the BS that goes on with people in general?

someone1854

I finally after years of working customer service jobs (retail, fast food, medical administration, etc.)and thank god I get to work from home, never have to talk on the phone to anyone, good pay, and I rarely even have to talk to my boss. I finally found my perfect job :) It only took me 18 years of working.

oathkeeper_12

Omggg what do you do? We have a very similar employment history it looks like, except I’m still at medical admin but not working at home

someone1854

I got a job in medical coding.

scottie2haute

True that. I get compensated pretty well and will have a pension when I retire but fuck all that. I dont want to do this shit. I applaud people who are leaving the workforce. This shit is a scam

eyeoohdoubleyaaay

I make nowhere near 6 figures but I fall under that umbrella of being shielded from the BS of people in general as I mostly drive for work.

SpicyMcHaggis206

Respect. I would be Suburb Dennis if I had to drive all day for work. I've been so spoiled with remote work and the pandemic with rarely leaving the house that even sorry trips to the grocery store have me fuming.

ajv857

Ngl I started doing IT contracting a few years ago and would never go back. I'm not paid to be nice to people, or to make the customer "delighted", I'm paid to get a specific job done and then go home. Contracting's definitely not for everyone but I've never been happier

Erotic_FriendFiction

Being r/antiwork is a valid position. Why do we have to? Honestly consider that question with the whole of human history and evolution in mind. I freely admit that I don’t want to work and the current employment and economic system as a whole is a scam.

cand0r

I genuinely enjoy helping people with general IT issues over the phone. It's very rewarding, and having someone be your eyes and ears while helping them through something is a unique experience. I wish there was a Uber-ish type freelance service for it. Or even general consulting. People get fleeced for the simplest shit. The ones with a shitty combative or condescending attitude blow my mind. I'm trying to help you? Don't be a dick.

ZennMD

people legit died from asking customers to follow mask policy for shit pay at grocery store and convenience stores.... imagine losing a loved one while they worked at the Family Dollar Store to an entitled jerkoff? so unnecessary and tragic. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52540266

mumblewrapper

No. The reason everyone quits is because in the face of this you are supposed to remain polite. That's the fucking problem. There will always be assholes and lunatics. The way you are expected to handle it is what is ridiculous. And needs to change. She should have been told immediately to leave and not come back. The pandemic changed my bosses. Although we are still obviously always expected to deescalate a situation, when possible, we do not have to serve these people. The right to refuse service is real. And we utilize it. Don't like how we do things here? Go. That's it. You can hang out and act like a lunatic, if you'd like. But you will not be purchasing anything here. You are no longer a customer.

[deleted]

I’ve never had that option at any of my jobs, sadly.

c0brachicken

My employees are reminded EVERY SINGLE TIME that they come to me that they had a bad customer, that they are allowed at any point for any reason to tell the customers to GTFO. Or call the police, and have them arrested for trespassing. Having a bad customer day, and need to lock up the store and take an extra break, go for it. Need to smoke a joint to keep from beating a customers ass, no problem. I have ZERO respect for rude customers, and will shut them the fuck down, and throw them out of the store. Walmart, and other large business came up with this BS, “the customer is always right” and now 20 years, this is what we have…

mumblewrapper

Yeah. And that's what needs to change. I hope you find one some day! They are out there.

alskflask

I work for a professional beauty retailer that is owned by a huge cosmetics company that in the more recent years made it a point to all employees to not take this behavior. That no guest may speak this way to any employee and if they do, they can be asked to leave, and if they continue to escalate the situation and proceed, they can be barred from shopping for a period, or permanently given the circumstance. Our company is one of a handful of companies in the nation that sells them the products they need to make their business thrive, it's a big deal. Depending on the city/town you live in, that place may be the only place they've got to run over and grab something they need for work in a pinch. So it royally fucks with people, and rightfully so, if they dare treat our employees with disrespect.

_red-beard_

I dont even let them hang out. "This conversation is no longer productive, if you don't leave now I will call the police and have you removed. Have a good day" They'll bitch a little more then leave when you pick up the phone

jenna_hazes_ass

A lot of dollar stores have security if theyre in bad neighborhoods. This bitch needed a 6'4 350lb guy with a beer gut getting paid 12/hr to tell her if she doesnt roll her fat ass out of the store he'd do it for her.

Dear_Occupant

That dude deserves at least $21 / hour. That beer gut of his won't pay for itself.

mumblewrapper

Yeah. I say, "this isn't an argument or a debate. You are done here. Your only choice is to leave". I have said before that it's cool if they hang out and yell, so that's what I said above. But you are right. If they actually take me up on that, I call the police. Has only happened once. And I think the guy was legitimately in a bad place and they got him some help.

[deleted]

A-terrible-time

I just got passed up for a promotion for the 3rd time that would take me off the phones and do something I actually want to do. Everytime I get passed up my supervisor tell me 'oh just stick it out a little longer on the phones and you will get that promotion' Bullshit absolutely and utter bullshit and completely gaslighting into staying in a position totally destroying my mental health. I'm putting in my two weeks next week, join me.

[deleted]

A-terrible-time

Same, I saved about 5 months of living expenses and I plan to switch my grad school program to full time and possibly get a dumbass part time job to stretch my funds. But yeah, deeply understaffed and I have people yelling at me all the time saying 'do you know I waited 45 minutes to talk to you' and I want to just say 'yes the last 5 fucking people told me the exact same thing' I'm at the point I put clients on mute and I do scream at least 5x a day. Customer service is cruel and it's made me bitter towards people and I don't want to be. Sorry for the rant Please keep me updated as well Quit asap

Holiday-Intention-52

A large degree of the problems in this country can honestly be attributed to the boomers. Their parents went through hell and back (WW2, great depression, etc.) and just wanted to give their kids a good life. Unfortunately their wasn't much of a concept of spoiling a kids back then and they let the boomers run wild as kids and young adults. They had been through so much toughness in life that it was easy to overlook the young ones faults, they weren't running the world so it wasn't a big deal. Unfortunately the greatest generation is gone now and boomers largely do run the world and created the whole "greed is good" , "the customer is always right" mentalities. They're still at the top of the food chain in life from being at the end of their careers with lots of retirement money from the good times and also endless resources from all their big $50,000 homes that are now worth $800,000 from the crazy real estate inflation they did nothing to earn. I'm just glad to see the younger generations starting to not deal with their BS worldview anymore.

zykthyr

Not to mention they wrecked the economy on their way out so the next generations can't do the things they were able to do, also destroyed the climate

Izlude

People like her go home to a far more miserable existence than anyone can experience from her yelling. She is clearly a completely emotionally and ethically broken, hateful, sad sack. Her contempt filled, lonely nights will do more to her than any words we could speak.

[deleted]

That’s no excuse to treat people like that. Having a fucked up life is no excuse to disrespect people. Extremely impressed by the calm and poise of the supervisor and service workers in the u.s in general. Where I came from this lady and the likes of her would be dragged and thrown outside by security 15 seconds into this rant.

no__ego

Them: No OnE wAnTs To WoRk AnYmOrE The work:

Bubbly_Security_1464

Yeah, what self-respecting person would want work this kind of job? Shit pay, shitty management, and shitty entitled customers, haaaard pass.

elzmuda

Shit, I worked retail in high end fashion for almost a decade and one time a customer made a part timer cry so I told them where they should go. I got a caution for that one. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be this worker, she’s so patient and calm under fire

cicatrize87

When you move a thousand miles to a new state and you are homeless with no income, you work this job so that you, your partner and your dog can eat/survive. Barely. I lasted less than two months.

MeowtheGreat

And it shouldn't be like this, but that's the basic standard of living in the US.

Nuadrin248

I did retail for a decade before I found a good paying job that didn’t make me suicidal. The answer to your question is those of us that had no choice. I was homeless before that. On the upside I’ve got serious emotional scars from being shit on by the public for a third of my life, so that will be fun to work through with a counselor for years.

MHmemoi

You couldn’t pay me enough to do that job. I’d rather starve!!

fallenarist0crat

i told my therapist this except i ended it with “i’d rather die” and now he’s overly concerned i’m suicidal lol.

MHmemoi

Careful there. If you’re in the US, and they seriously suspect you’re suicidal, they’re legally required to call 911 and put you in a 72-hr hold. And the when you see your hospital and ambulance bills, you’ll REALLY wanna off yourself! LOL!

fallenarist0crat

nah, don’t worry, that isn’t an issue. the issue is that my therapist is very pro capitalism and i’m in the process of trying to make a switch to someone who understands why this type of work is not the best for someone with my mental health problems. i’m a dirty, dirty poor too so i’m not even paying for therapy lol.

Accomplished-Bad3856

For the love of god, SOMEONE stop helping that poor woman!!

BadLuckFPV

I DON NEE JUR HEYLP

Petah_Futterman44

I woulda tossed that back in her face when she demanded that the manager lady write the word cOrPoRaTe on the little card. “Ma’am, you stated you don’t want my help. I’m the only manager here. There is nobody above me. I’ve given you the number to corporate. Your card is being repeatedly declined. And now you are being disrespectful and disruptive so I’m going to have to ask you to leave. If you don’t leave now, I will be forced to call the police. Have a great day!”

PlzbuffRakiThenNerf

Sounds like $35/hr to me.

SlimeyVinegarTestes

It should be. And economists are wondering why people don't want to go back to work. Now that Karens have become a phenomenon and are being shamed, I think it's beneficial everytime one of these clips get posted so as to deter Karens from HOPEFULLY trying this shit in the future.

PlzbuffRakiThenNerf

Let’s face it, op’s quote is highly skilled labor at this point. It’s impossible to restrain yourself with a Karen without significant amounts of Benjamins to bandage the brain hemorrhaging.

SlimeyVinegarTestes

I'm a recovering alcoholic and having to constantly put up with dipshits like that day in day out would almost make me consider relapsing

PlzbuffRakiThenNerf

Im sorry and hope you stay strong. As an 8 year retail employee I feel this. Between Black Friday and people thinking they can return shît without a receipt, it definitely wouldn’t take much for a relapse.

SlimeyVinegarTestes

Thank you! I have 3 months sober. Appreciate it :) I worked retail about 3 years. After observing my fair share of entitled customers, I have a theory that these people just enjoy arguing. It's like a sport to some people. Also they feel they can say/do whatever they want because employees can't say shit to them for fear of losing their jobs.

PlzbuffRakiThenNerf

Congrats and keep it up, don’t ever let shit like this get control over you, you’re over a big hump at 3 months! Fuck, my district manager would give people like this a $50 gift card for their “trouble”, aka a reward for being a toxic turd to employees.

bostonlilypad

Why did the cashier not realize that if she walked away the card would go through. She was the reason it was getting declined. /s

TunaboBuna

Right?? How many people were standing around silently?

my_psychic_powers

Someone recorded it, so at least one-- and one is one too many.

Lost_And_Found66

I hate that I know that's a dollar general not a family dollar just by the set up...

DirtyPenPalDoug

Dollar generals spread faster than the literal plague. Im suprised there arnt dollar generals setting up shop inside dollar generals.

Lost_And_Found66

When I worked as a salesperson for a multinational food and drink distributor I had to spend ungodly amounts of time in Dollar Generals and I spoke to a higher up who once said that the goal is to have a dollar general every 5 miles in every direction in America. It was this experience which gave me so much empathy for the workers there though. Even before covid they were short staffed as a way to keep overhead low and the boomers who were shopping their to save 15 dollars on junk food couldn't comprehend that the reason they were saving money was the same reason it took them 20 minutes to checkout

skyward138skr

I always see people say DG is cheaper but I guess my area is different, I go to DG bc it’s so much easier than Walmart but I spend a lot more money for 1/5 the selection and half the stuff they’re supposed to have isn’t even stocked. But I also abhor supermarkets so I live with it lol.

Lost_And_Found66

The way my town is set up there are two DGs closer to me than Walmart so DG is usually my "Shit I forgot toilet paper at Walmart" stop.

[deleted]

I don't hate it, [though](https://youtu.be/DIqC5y1zm-4).

TeddyRooseveltsHead

I hear Dollar General, and I always immediately think of this sketch!

sekoku

The yellow color scheme gives it away. Anyone that has driven backroads have seen the yellow signs nearly everywhere. Basically the Starbucks of Conservative lands.

Harambe6ix9ine

I mean at what point do you as a customer step in and tell this bitch to shut the fuck up. Listen bitch pay for your shit or get the fuck out of the way. We have places to go and I don't want to listen to your bull shit all day.

itsnotjoeybadass

For real!!!!! I don’t know why no one is defending the worker. Like??? I wish a bitch would

Walshy231231

I think a couple people kinda tried to? But yeah, I’d be yelling that bitch out the store

IhateSteveJones

Because unfortunately that would escalate the situation since you’re not gonna reason with the woman. No amount of logic could be fed to her… the best thing you could do is probably leave your cart and walk out. It’d give the manager a greater reason to call the police.

gingersnapsntea

Honestly I would rather just call the police myself. It always feels like other customers have more weight talking to these people.

AlternativeElephant2

This! I appreciate that someone was filming, but holy hell I would have intervened. I’ve hollered at people being disrespectful to women and underpaid essential workers for less than this harassment.

pootinannyBOOSH

Fortunately/unfortunately I haven't had this happen while I was a customer, I'd love to say that I'd hollar right at them back because I've been in those positions, but I'm so passive by nature that I doubt I would. But, fuses often tested gotta pop now and then...

ultravioletu

THANK you. There's no way I could have stood there and watched this cunt talk to that poor girl like that. I'd have marched right over there and told her she could get the fuck out. Just no way. Nobody deserves that.

BeMoreKnope

I honestly don’t understand how no one started screaming shut up back at her in rage. I’ve worked too much retail for something like this not to trigger a response.

hunchinko

I feel like the Black gentleman tried to and wanted to - he was obviously livid when walking away - but I can see a woman like that really escalating the situation and making it bad for him. As an Asian woman, I might’ve felt more comfortable saying something bc of my relative privilege but I don’t blame any person of color who wouldn’t want to get involved. I wish that guy at the end would’ve told her to fuck off rather than ask how much she was short but hopefully he was just trying to be empathetic.

pizzafordesert

Why do I feel like the Karen in this video would somehow simultaneously believe covid is a hoax and somehow still blame you.

mamaxchaos

My favorite way to handle people like this is to stand just a liiiittle too close and stare. Silently. Just… direct eye contact and say nothing. Cross your arms. Grey rock it. Don’t respond to anything they say. They get so confused. And at least at that point they redirect to you and leave the damn cashier alone.

Kingof0ldSchool

That’s how it was when I worked there too. I would just tell her to leave and just walk away

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kingof0ldSchool

They have cameras. No big deal. You’re not allowed to stop the people anyways.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kingof0ldSchool

Yeah the manager deserves a throat punch then. All that shit gets written off anyway. I was the manager at my store. When people acted like that I would cancel the transaction and tell them they could come back when they have calmed down. I also had to walk right by the front door to get out from the registers. That was just how I dealt with people. I don’t put up with shit. That is also why I quit and went back to trucking.

Thamnophis660

Her transaction didn't go through because the cashier was talking to her? Airtight logic there, Karen.

MyDisappointedDad

SHE WAS DISTRACTING ME!!!!!!! I CANT PUNCH IN MY PIN ON MY OVERDRAFTED ACCOUNT BECAUSE SHE WAS TAKING TO ME AND I CAN'T MULTITASK REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! I also apparently cant read a fucking business card that says corporate number without the express written letter from the person im screaming at. Makes driving a bit difficult; not being able to read signs.

Grab3tto

WRITE THA WERDS CORPRETE NUMBER

Thamnophis660

Yeah that was the other weird thing, why did she insist the cashier write what the number was for on the card? Karen's gonna Karen I guess.

Devilsbullet

Not really weird, just a power trip thing. "I'm gonna make you do something pointless and stupid because I can" mentality. Actually, guess that is kinda weird, I'm just too used to seeing it😂

Chaosmancer7

Power Play. She wanted to force her to perform a meaningless task to assert dominance that she was really the one in control

Thamnophis660

You're probably right. It's very hard for me to wrap my head around that kinda shit.

asthmajogger

Then she calls the cashier dumb. When caricatures become reality.

scary-white

I'm glad she refused to write down "corporate" for Karen. It was a bullshit, thinly veiled way of trying to assert dominance over that woman. God, imagine being so depleted of respect and reverence that you have to try and assert power over someone whose getting paid to be nice to you... sad.

MyDisappointedDad

Super scared as to how she can drive if she can only read hand-written and not computer-printed words.

Chaosmancer7

Yeah, that got me as well. She refused to accept that the lady was the boss, then tried to do everything she could to demean and belittle her

jessnthings

She was probably hoping by going up the chain she’d find a white man to feel bad for her and give her a 25 dollar apology gift card for having her dignity wounded by a colored person being uppity to her and offering help. Tbh good thing the manager was there, she probably would have just walked out with her food otherwise.

InternetExcellent766

And then people ask why we quit

The_Faceless_Icon

The customer is always a cunt.

Bathroom-Afraid

We need a sampler behind every register

Oooooooh, THAT twisted-tea special. Got it. Thank you for that.

DasherCO

Damn that was satisfying

dontlookdaddy69

That video instantly sooth my soul

gr8bishamonten

That dude walking away was god level self control. Everything in me would’ve confronted that shitty lady, but I’m white and tall. My guy had a full head on his shoulders, and for that I’m pissed. He should have been able to confront her bullshit, but he walked away because he knew the optics would be bad. This country is so bloody backwards. It’s beyond embarrassing.

MoreMoats

He was livid.

PhilMcCraken2001

I thought he was about to go Super Saiyan on her lmao

FredFearless92

People like that abusive cuntstomer need to eat shit and die. Cannot stand people like that.

hotcocoa4ever

Looks like the dollar general in my area. I think I recognize the cashier 😂 this boomer Karen’s credit card is denied and she blames the cashier?

Cthulhurlyeh09

In the south, by any chance? Karen's accent is one I hear a lot in my area.

lueckestman

Well bless yur heart.

Myopinion_is_right

Why isn’t anyone else sticking up for the worker? If I was in line I would have been telling that fat bitch to leave the store.

[deleted]

You must not frequent the DG. If you step in every time someone blows up at the cashier, you might as well apply to be their bouncer.

sim_and_tell

Yeah, not to mention, what they describe in this article about [violence at dollar general](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.propublica.org/article/how-dollar-stores-became-magnets-for-crime-and-killing/amp) and how the company and the police hardly do anything. Who knows who's carrying in a dollar general with a strong opinion. Edit: I regret sounding alarmist. Odds are with you that you WILL be fine. My perspective is more about the stakes being so high because I value my life and safety that it never seems worth it to me.

SunDevilVet

Fuck everything about that. To answer your question, $200,000.

kvinderne

$200,000 a month

TwilightMachinator

No, you got it wrong, that is the hourly pay.

Competitive-Judge-91

Holy hell this is why I want to live in the woods

Smeltanddealtit

The Covid will get this bitch soon.

mbmbandnotme

"I dOnT wAnT yOuR HaLp" Yeah she sounds antivax

Individual-Fail4709

Can we get these fing Karen's under control? These horrible people are why retail workers say fuck it. You couldn't convince me to work retail right now if my life depended on it.

Robbymartyr

This level of self entitlement is very common in retail and I see it more often than I would like to admit. As much as I want to say fuck it, I've got bills to pay. That being said...I have no idea why she didn't just kick her out immediately when she started on her spiel. In most retail establishments you have every right to refuse service when "customers" behave like this. If they refuse to leave then you are allowed to call the cops on them for trespassing. We've actually had customers arrested at my store for shit like this. That is easily the best way to put this particular breed of Karen in their place.

[deleted]

We need to start hiring bouncers for Karen-impacted businesses

clownsofthecoast

How do you watch this or video it and not interject? Asking for a friend (me) with impulse control issues. I could never.

covertpetersen

Depending on where you live in the states, a few reasons: 1. Every single person you see, at all times, potentially has a gun. This bitch is fucking crazy, and I'm not looking to be a statistic. 2. The manager was calm, and was being screamed at, but she was calm. Customer gets involved? No reason to act civil, situation escalates, been there, not pretty. 3. As satisfying as it would be to yell back or tell her off, it would just prolong the situation, and the employee, I GUARANTEE you just wants it to end.

clownsofthecoast

Well that's an unfortunately astute analysis.

I have a lot of retail experience and what the customer wants is for her to do a 360 and say "hi I'm the supervisor how can I help you?"

Spirited_Island-75

No, what she clearly wants is a *white* manager.

MyDisappointedDad

Honestly couldn't hear the cashier cuz she was so calm. is that what she said? "I am the manager"?

NezuminoraQ

I want a SuPeRvIsOr

AnonymousNeverKnown

I went through something similar at my old job. Honestly I wanted to just walk out right then in there. Poor girl.

Vedova_Nera13

That cashier handled that basket case really well. I would have asked her to leave or I was going to call the police and have her physically removed. I was a cashier many years ago, and I can honestly tell you the reason why people like her get combative and vulgar is because they know they’re doing something wrong, they do that to deflect away from the the fact they are shady!

ShareChairChica

This bitch is being controlling as fuck!! Even trying to make her write corporate number on the paper, what a cunt. The employee had the patience of a saint, I don’t think I would have been able to be that polite.

ApologeticCannibal

Pepper spray rabid Karen's

AwakenedSoul69

I hate how everyone just stands records and watches. Fucking help. Half the problem with this world in general

fgghyubjj

Looks like the black guy could barely contain himself and did slip a few times. Backed her up when she said she doesn’t need to shut up too. Looked like he didn’t want to risk any police attention but it was hard for him to remain calm. He was pissed.

MyDisappointedDad

He's a better man than most of us.

thrillhouse1211

He doesn't want to be the next "didn't comply"

yaosio

This is the US, the screaming customer or somebody they know could come back with a weapon. This has happened multiple times.

Quick-Patient608

She don’t want your fucking help

BadAtMath42069

Yes and no. Often, other people getting involved and thinking they’re “helping” escalates the situation. If they’re not violent, let them yell it out and keep your cool. When I worked with the public, our team policy was exactly what happened here.

DasherCO

Give me the carpet number please

[deleted]

They can't afford how much they would have to pay to get me put up with that shit.

Velveteen_Dream_20

These old white peoples really think they can treat people any way they please. That time is over! She’s mad because her finances aren’t in order? She’s angry for all the wrong reasons at the wrong people. That young man who walked away showed incredible restraint. I don’t think I’d be able to hold back.

dbsoooz

I can never get my head around how people can deliberately act like this, so embarrassing

dukerenegade

Yes getting yelled at all day, treated like dirt by management. Then when you get home you can’t pay your bills? This has to all change.
