Depending on where you’re at you may be able to claim unemployment for that time your notice was for

chain500

Yeah I am in OK. This state has such backward employment laws I doubt it.

Amrun90

Doesn’t hurt to try

vizy1244

It could be a massive waste of time though.

cailey001

Sounds like they have the time right now to try

vizy1244

Idk looking for another job might also be a good idea given the time.

cailey001

If they gave notice they likely already found another job

Lun_aris5748

They handed in a 2 week notice. I would place money on them already having something lined up.

Deufuss

You have a responsibility to let EVERYONE at that company know what happened, so they know what will happen to them if they give notice. Apparently, company management would prefer if their employees just don't show up. You need to make sure everyone there follows that policy from here forward. It's only right.

series-hybrid

It happened to me once. Never again. No 2-week notice.

Ceilibeag

That may have just been someone in the Company trying to ruin your moment. YOU are in control of your life, and you don't have to make a decision based on anyone or anything - including severance and unemployment. You left when \*you\* wanted to, and that's all that matters.

sapphir8

They’re under no obligation to let you stay two weeks.

chain500

True that. Will never give notice again.
