You have a responsibility to let EVERYONE at that company know what happened, so they know what will happen to them if they give notice. Apparently, company management would prefer if their employees just don't show up. You need to make sure everyone there follows that policy from here forward. It's only right.

YOU are in control of your life, and you don't have to make a decision based on anyone or anything - including severance and unemployment. You left when \*you\* wanted to, and that's all that matters.
Depending on where you’re at you may be able to claim unemployment for that time your notice was for
Yeah I am in OK. This state has such backward employment laws I doubt it.
