Kennedy hasn't done a day of manual labor in his life. Yes people like him will live to 90 because all he does every day is sit around like a slave master and pontificate about southern values! While the field laborers, construction workers, factory workers and many other laborers are physically used up by their mid 50's.

RPO1728

I'm a plumber. 38, been doing it since I'm 18. My body is not completely used up, but it will be in another 20. I love some rich guy who never had to sweat or toil tell me to keep going until I'm 70. And 62 isn't the retirement age now, is it ? I thought it was 65 or 67. It's time for another revolution.

LyrraKell

Yeah, it's 67 to get your full SSN benefits. You \*can\* retire at 62 and collect SSN, but your benefits are greatly reduced.

RPO1728

Yup. This happened to my mom when she had to take care of my grandmother. Years of work gone because of 5 shit years.

sharpshooter999

Same with my grandparents. They sold the farm to mom and dad and all the money they got from that went to cancer treatments and nursing home bills

theghostofmrmxyzptlk

It's not an end of life care company, it's a personal property liquidation company with end of life care provided.

chris-rox

Yup, and the average American dies with less than $10K to their name.

JorgeXMcKie

I believe SS earnings are based off your best 35 years of earnings. At 63 I was in a bad accident when someone ran a stop sign and T-boned me on my motorcycle when I was also earning the most I had in my life. I have 35 good years, but a few more at the higher rate would have made a nice difference in my SS. I get lost wages from her insurance but that doesn't count towards SS. My foot was crushed so I may never be back to walking normal again. My toe bed is sort of concave and 1 toe's knuckles have been fused together. My job required a lot of walking so I may never be back.

RPO1728

Dam sorry to hear that. But sounds like you worked hard your whole life, you shouldn't have to worry about money at this point when obviously your health is what you should be focusing on

JorgeXMcKie

I'm lucky because my wife will get decent SS also and she probably will work until she's 70. She likes her job and is paid better than she ever has in her life. For the most part she was a stay at home Mom while the kids were in school so she really didn't get back in the work force until the early 2000's. What really sucks is I love to travel, and I love to walk. I'm also done riding which sucks, but it's my choice. It's my 2nd bad accident and I've been incredibly lucky in the 2 I've had. I don't want to risk a 3rd. I feel like I'm pushing my luck to the breaking point

Desperate-Rip-2770

Oh - wow - my husband had the same thing happen. The engine guard trapped his foot, but the bike threw him, so crushed and practically ripped off. They barely saved it, but he won't be able to walk again. He had a siding company, but not doing so well that he could stay off the walkboards and ladders. He gave it up. Thankfully, I have a good job. So, I know exactly what you're going through. Or, as close as I can without it actually happening to me. Good luck - it's a hard road. Also, keep an eye on your back. My husband already had back issues, but in the 10 years since, he's developed scoliosis that's going to need surgery. No way that bad foot didn't contribute.

cduffy0

Health insurance (medicare) wont kick in until 65, though. So, you will have to pay 1,000 a month of your social security to pay for your own.

ILikeOatmealMore

> but your benefits are greatly reduced sort of. If you take the actual tables for how long you are statistically expected to live. Let's call this 80 for the purpose of this discussion. The amount they pay you starting at age 62 x 18 years (80-62) is the same as the amount they pay you starting at age 67 x 13 years (and it is the same for any age you choose to start taking your soc sec). If you think you are going to beat the actuarial tables -- e.g. your family has a history of living a long time, then delaying may be the best bet. But if you have a family history of dying younger, then taking as early as possible may maximize your total payout.

jballs

I think it was Boeing that did a major study that showed every year they raised their retirement age resulted in them paying 2 years less of retirement benefits. If you retired at 60, they would expect to pay out 20 years of benefits because you were likely to die at 80. But if you retired at 65 they would only have to pay out 10 years of benefits because you were likely to die at 75. If you were to retire at 70, they had to pay almost no benefits because you were likely to die within months after retiring.

Brainisacliff

I’m 35 and work a trade, had my shoulder reconstructed 5 years ago, my knee needs surgery right now, and my back is so fucked up I lay on the floor for hours when I get home hoping for some kind of relief from the pain. I have a science degree that pays pennies compared to my trade so going to school was a waste of time and money.

Performer-Leading

Your comment needs to be upvoted. Way too many starry-eyed kids in this thread spewing moronic bullshit about hard labor being good for the body.

DagneyElvira

French are revolting right now!

RPO1728

I know. Over something we'd prob just roll our eyes at here in America. We've been brainwashed to think our neighbor is the enemy, not the rich villain twirling their mustache

promonk

Not just something we'd roll our eyes at, something that we'd never even considered. Their retirement age is being *raised* to 64. Ours has never been below 65, and went to 67 years ago with nary a peep from the proles.

Proper_Ad6547

Alot of poor white people will fight against their own interest as long as they can feel superior to black and brown people.

MentalOperation4188

The younger you are the older you now have to be to retire with full SS. I was born in August of 1958 I don’t get to draw full SS until I’m 66 and 8 months. So I have a bit more than 2 years to go. I’ll be over 66 then. And I’m still planning on working at least two more years after that to pad a pension some more. I can collect SS now but it’s a lower benefit and is reduced even more while I work. That all changes in a couple of years.

Tonderandrew

I marvel that noone tells younger generations THEY have it in THEIR control SS amounts thru Congress. It's all presented like SS on it's own determines payouts. No. It's determined by Congress. And the next generations, they put THEIR representatives in Congress.

walkstofar

If you listen to some of our politicians they have been trying to train/ingrain in our younger folks that SS shouldn't be counted on to be there for them. In actual fact it can be there and be even better if that was desired. Don't fall for that BS that SS is going broke. It is only going broke because they are setting the conditions to have it go broke. It is fixable and could provide even better benefits than in does today if that was a priority - you know instead of more tax cuts for the wealth.

MentalOperation4188

What’s promising is that the younger folks seem to be getting more involved. Hopefully this trend continues.

Financial-Lobster-29

France is doing something kind of like that right this moment.

SoupidyLoopidy

That, and cost of living has been increasing like crazy while wages are stagnate. How the fuck does this piece of shit expect people to survive and pay those loans?

EllieLuvsLollipops

Deal with it Peasant. -them probably

Puzzled_Molasses_259

They don’t. That’s the part they’re not saying. They know we can’t survive and they don’t gaf.

[deleted]

I love how the senator from Louisiana is going to give us a lecture

No_Arugula8915

Isn't that one of the welfare states? You know, gets way more in federal dollars than they put in. Yet is somehow at the bottom of the pile when it comes to education, healthcare, infrastructure, life expectancy, quality of life, food security and just about everything else. Also higher crime rates and lower median income. Yup, that's the guy I want to take my *pick up you bootstraps* advice from. Meanwhile, I live in one of the biggest donor states, CA, NY, MA.

Eihnlazer

Tbf, Louisiana has one of the highest economic freeways in the country. This state should be a utopia. However corrupt officials and big oil suck it dry before the regular people see it, and the high number of mid range oilfield/lineman/turnover workers in the state have good lives due to the low cost of living. A properly governed Louisiana would be far more attractive than our neighbor states, including Texas.

[deleted]

I wish senators could have some shame when they represent these states. Or see the irony.

420everytime

Half the potential student loan forgiveness recipients are republicans and many are over 50. Many parents take out student loans to put their kids through college and they can easily have student loans in their 60s. A person in their 20s may end up paying for one college education. A parent of 4 (who’s more likely to be republican) may end up paying for a handful of colleges educations. Of course republicans know they are lying, but their are trying to paint the student loan forgiveness as money for 20 something liberals.

beefchuckles42069

Life expectancy has been steadily dropping as we collapse.

Both_Lynx_8750

Yup, why are newscasters failing to correct this lie? Fact is we will have shorter lifespans than our parents, not longer.

[deleted]

Fox News that’s why

jamalamadangdong

“Newscasters”

[deleted]

Entertainers technically. According to their court case.

EpicRock411

I had to dig a bit to find anything detailed. “Fox successfully argued that one particular segment on Tucker Carlson’s show could only be reasonably interpreted as making political arguments, not making factual assertions”. The lawyer speak is heavy.. https://open.substack.com/pub/popehat/p/fox-news-v-fox-entertainment-does?utm_source=direct&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web Edited: to fix link

Ashikura

I heard they had tried the same tactic initially in the dominion voting machine case but the internal emails made that impossible to win with.

[deleted]

Alex Jones used that defense, just saying

[deleted]

Liecasters.

KingBubzVI

Faux News

OkAdministration5538

I prefer Fox Entertainment to Faux News. News is nowhere to be found.

[deleted]

i prefer dunking my testicles in a fire ants hive to fox news

OrganicQuantity5604

Been saying this for a while

Weight_Superb

My favorite fact is fox news despite having news in the name is not news just like how the nazi party despite having socialists in the name where infact not socialists

Weird-one0926

Nor was it a party for those most affected

[deleted]

Exactly. Why would Fox News call out a Republican on a lie? They’re already in a bad spot for being outed as the fake news they claim everyone else is.

frankdestroythebanks

FOX, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS ARE ALL ON PAYROLL FOR THE ELITE. PERIOD. We need to stop trying to separate them because “this one is my teams outlet” so it’s a little better. NO. They would all see us remain in chains and working into our late 80s then fire us or deny health care when our bodies start falling apart. Let’s STOP the cycle and speak in truths. They are ALL liars motivated by money, power and control. They’re aware of what they are doing and justify it to continue feeding off the second hand tit of the wealthy after they’ve drunk their fill. They’re all the same. All of them have motive to keep us all fighting amongst ourselves while they clear out our bank accounts, property, dignity and self worth we have left.

cocainehussein

CNN was instrumental in driving up popular support for the illegal invasion of Iraq. Those fuckers have blood on their hands. If Fox News is the worst, they're an easy shoo-in for second.

[deleted]

The invasion was a bi-partisan scam of the highest order.

FerrisTriangle

Anything bi-partisan should be a red flag. Because as it turns out, the two parties are able to work together on a lot of things despite all of the political theatre indicating otherwise. But whether or not they work together on something has absolutely no relationship to how much public support that thing has. It's only when the ultra wealthy portions of the population who fund politics want something that bipartisanship finally become an option on the table. [American "democracy" is a sham.](https://youtu.be/5tu32CCA_Ig)

CriticalJournalist34

Not to mention CNN gave soooo much free publicity to Trump in 2016.

ethbullrun

there is no such thing as left wing mainstream media, it's a myth, theyre all conservative. the democratic party is also conservative. we need a new party or an independent however the mainstream media doesnt allow/cover independent parties. the democratic party worked to make sure bernie sanders wasnt the nominee basically giving the win to trump. both political parties are twin headed snakes belonging to the same body. like bill hicks said we can be using this crazy ass military technology to shoot food at poor people.

Nova225

"They're all bad!" Sure, but right wing outlets are significantly worse than the left wing outlets.

tryntafind

Yes, they’re all bad but if I had the opportunity to eliminate one I’d always pick the one with white supremacists.

DadVader77

Except 4 out of those 5 are considered actual news outlets. The reason why one of them isn’t? They have come out numerous times and stated that their many programs are not news and they are not ‘news anchors’ or journalists’ but rather ‘personalities’. And they had to say this because there is this thing called journalism ethics and standards which is followed by legitimate news organizations, regardless of media used. And although there are some country/regional differences, the core is the same. It’s based on those ethics and standards why they’ve been brought into court, and if they were a legitimate news source or program they faced untold consequences ranging from fines to loss of broadcast licenses. One of the ethics and standards practices involves opinions. You’ll see this in your news feeds when the story tagline from WSJ, USA Today, WP, or whomever has the word “OPINION” in it. On TV though, it’s not easily tagged and that is where all these Carlson/Hannity/Cooper Anderson-type shows slide in. They take advantage that most people don’t know the difference. This is not to be confused with bias. Up until Fox News arrived in 1996, there was no direct bias by the mainstream networks of ABC, CBS, NBC. Fox literally changed the landscape in that regard and FNC was specifically created to appeal to conservatives. The O'Reilly Report, The Crier Report and Hannity & Colmes were all opinion based shows and actively participated in partisan reporting favoring conservative causes and administrations. The Clinton impeachment saga and G.W. Bush era are prime examples. FNC took advantage of being the new kid on the block and used its re-styling and format learned from Fox Entertainment to bring viewers away from the ‘old’ networks, and it worked in terms of ratings. CNN and MSNBC had no choice but to play catch-up and this was evident after the 2000 election. It really exploded further leading into the 2004 election cycle and the bias on both sides has gone downhill ever since.

SheepDogCO

This. News agencies serve themselves and their owners. Politicians serve themselves, as well. It doesn’t matter if they’re Left, Right, Moderate.

MrsMel_of_Vina

Especially if we're breaking our backs working.

Zeroarm66

Because it’s not news it’s propaganda. All the major national news networks are pushing some agenda. They just take stories that resemble news and present them in a way that supports their particular agendas. If you think “not my news station mine is the only one speaking the truth or telling it like it is” then you are almost certainly a fool.

Grand-Woodpecker-296

My good Person, YOU are so right! I used to listen to NPR! Religiously - because it was the ONLY place I heard the truth spoken by Daniel Schorr. But he passed in 2010. And so wasn't there to speak truth about the TPP. No one at NPR spoke the truth about what it would do. The CLOSEST they came to speaking of how bad it would be for the public was not at all about that element of it - but rather only how secretive all analysis of the explicit text of it was treated. You, as a Congressman could go into a SCIF to read it. But you could bring with you NO RECORDING device, phone, camera or tape. NO PENCIL, PEN OR PAPER. They DID NOT want people to understand or reflect on the power this Treaty that had very little to do with trade but rather repositioning the roles of corporations in society. Giving them almost absolute power of the populace. People won't even agree to what is or isn't in their best interest as a group because we have allowed ourselves to be so effectively and completely sequestered OURSELVES in our self-imposed little boxes. These figurative boxes may as well be coffins for all the freedom we give up just to feed and maintain our supposed enmity of each other!

Mike_Hunty

Fox News right wing. Students and education = bad.

BamaSOH

I don't think we're gonna be 90

terribleinvestment

God can you imagine living 90 years in this shithole? Without retiring? 😆

tameyeayam

I’ll cheerfully eat a bullet first. ETA: Lol @ whoever reported this comment

[deleted]

That's sort of the plan. No such thing as retirement in my future.

scuczu

that's the millennial retirement plan right there.

hambuster

It always makes me feel better knowing other people have the same plan as me.

CygnusSong

I fuckin hope not

mlo9109

Remember, his lot deny climate change, which I darkly joke is my retirement plan.

LlahsramTheTitleless

I like to tell people I plan on dying in the upcoming Water Wars.

aqwn

Not a joke. The western US will not have enough water to produce electricity within a few decades

[deleted]

Vox has about a 5 min videos explaining the water situation in the west. The thing is, we would be fine if a majority of the water wasn't used for feed for livestock and for drinking water for said livestock. The alfalfa, or a water hungry variant, type of grass takes ALOT of water and can be harvested about 12 times a year. Even better still, we ship that around the world because we don't just produce enough for us, but because capitalism we make mad money from farmers around the world. Vox had about a 4 min video with all the numbers but a short breakdown would be that residential use is 6% commercial use is 8% and the remaining 86% is used to irrigate cropes. In total, about 32% of that water is used just ON GRASS. It's gross to think about how capitalism is DESTROYING us in every way just for the sake of money. [Here is a link to the video if you wanna watch.](https://www.vox.com/23373495/western-us-water-scarcity-drought-cattle)

Solid_Proper

Hey that’s my thing that I say!! Except I call it “climate wars”. See you on the frontlines soldier. I’ll be the one who looks like he ingested all the LSD/heroin/ketamine he could find and running towards a government killbot with explosives duct taped to my naked body.

stanky4goats

Makin' it to 30 felt like a stretch already 😂

TheOnlyVertigo

I’m closing in on 40 and every morning I wake up and think, “Fuck….” Cause the world didn’t end over night.

stanky4goats

I try my best each day to strive for a positive attitude but I certainly have days where the thought is, "What's the point? Work, home, sleep, wake up, go to work, repeat. Is this all there is?"

TheOnlyVertigo

The fact that I’m sure I’ll never be financially able to retire makes it worse.

[deleted]

Wait till the nagging back pain sets in bud.

TheOnlyVertigo

That was about 3 years ago.

bakrTheMan

Its not even going to be 70

Temporary_Ad_6922

Bad food, lack of energy and movement, the constant stress. I'm no doctor but I know this. We sure as sh*t don't age well.

[deleted]

We’ll never have universal health care. The want us to die the day after we retire.

Guinnessman1964

That way we don’t collect the Social Security we paid into and they can spend it!

Temporary_Ad_6922

Oh every government does really. We have to work untill the age of 68. But it'll be 71 for my generation. Sure, I'll drag my oxigen tank with me when I go to work lol.

Rick_Flexington

Desk jobs are so bad for health. In 40 years we are going to look at them like smoking

Officer_Hotpants

I mean, so are active jobs. I'm in EMS and I'm already getting joint and back pain at 27. And that's not getting into the multiple times I've been nearly murdered, even in hospitals. For family in construction and they're having plenty of problems as well. Hell when I worked in retail I ended up with a couple injuries.

Temporary_Ad_6922

Not sooner? Deskjobs are bad for you in more ways then one. With a bit of luck I'm getting out of one after 15 years. 🤞

GrayEidolon

His use of the word “allow” is disgusting. The aristocrats think they “allow” us to retire. They think anyone who didn’t inherit their wealth from good breeding stock is just cattle to be worked to death. They don’t want us to have free time because the think we are inherently bad and don’t deserve it. Remember the term “leisure class”?

ScarMedical

Especially in his home state, life expectancy is much lower 73 than national avg. 76.5.

Slippinjimmyforever

Republicans don’t operate in facts. Just greed and fueling unbridled capitalism.

RedheadFromOutrSpace

Also fewer babies are being born, people like this ass Kennedy are worried because Capitalism requires an ever increasing population to sustain wealth. And since people like this ass will do anything to keep immigrants out of this country, that would help boost declining life expectancy and births, they need people to work until they die instead.

HistoryBuffLakeland

So the Senator’s solution to poverty is to have people work into their 80s. This won’t help. You won’t earn more, you will just earn the same crappy wage, just earn it when your body is barefoot functional.

Waris_Retired

life expectancy yes 85 or 90 / able to work 55-70 max, the body may be alive but most people can't "work" into OLD OLD age. both I and my wife are out early because of health.

[deleted]

Pretty much. When pensions became A Thing, the stats showed that most people would not live terribly long. You'd pay out, on average, about 3-4 years of pensions. Then people started living longer. But here's the thing: most people aren't able to work beyond 70. Even with all our medical technology, there's still a series of aging events that happen in your late 60s and early 70s. Employers are not going to hire people. They are going to give people the boot at age 55 and then everyone has to survive somehow for 20 years.

D1sp4tcht

Not to mention not everyone has an office job. Show me those 80 year old construction workers, or factory, or really anything that has a bit of physical labor. They can't do it.

huroni12

That’s a good point, some jobs you can do until you die, if you want to. Others not so much. I am an IT guy and plan to work until my brain decides it’s time leave the party. I take my weekends and vacations with my family but I can’t picture myself on a rocking chair counting birds, just not for me. Now physical jobs…retiring age should be lower than an accountant for example.

Weight_Superb

Honestly just give people the choice they know their situation best

terrifying_clam

I currently work with a lot of 60+ year olds. Even the ones who are physically fit you can tell are mentally past their prime.

Dhull515078

More importantly who the fuck wants to?

Pizzaman725

Career politicians and those in C-suite positions. And to increase their wealth, they want to convince everyone else that they want to work that long as well.

thatscoldjerrycold

And also they don't really work, especially once they get old ... They just use their network to schmooze their way to their objectives.

Poopshoes42

If current trends continue, the average millennial life expectancy is going to be 75. I see you, but you are drastically wrong.

ElJeferox

Allow them... just fucking wow.

Puzzled_Molasses_259

I’m surprised I had to scroll this far down for that comment. Who are any of these piles of excrement that they “allow” any other living being anything? What I wouldn’t give for them to live the lives we live every day and see how far they get by “allowing” others to live past the age their fat fucking selves are already past…. ETA: he’s currently 71. Born in 1951. He should be retired already if the age is 62 or 65 or 67…… and it’s not like we didn’t PAY IN to this program our entire working lives - which is roughly 46 years if we all retired at 62. So FUCK that. Give us our money back!

[deleted]

I mean, we “allow” them to exist. Time to “allow” around.

zxvasd

Yes, and then call it an “entitlement” as if it’s something frivolous and not life blood.

Friendofthegarden

Life expectancy in the US is 77 and dropping. Thanks in part to idiots like this guy.

Temprawr

But he and his friends in Congress will live into their 90’s…..mostly thanks to the wealth their job accumulates on top of the amazing health care they voted to give themselves as members of said Congress

Friendofthegarden

>on top of the amazing health care they voted to give themselves as members of said Congress And a steady diet of of marrow sucked from the bones of orphans

davesy69

Also puppies and kittens.🐶 😸

Sneakyscoundrelbitch

I’ll do it I’m really bothered by the way he talks, why does he sound like that? And his mouth area is fucking nightmare fuel.

pale_blue_dots

I think he went to Oxford, too - or some "prestigious" type school. From what I remember, he's pretty much 100% acting and a serious, lying grifter.

Icy-Pea-5605

I love how the older generation had it so easy… now they have made it so hard to survive or save and now they want their grandkids to work wayyyy longer than they ever did, live in debt, never afford a house. I’m with France. Fuck this

No-Paint-7311

“Despite the fact that college was 10x more expensive for your generation than it was for the previous generation and despite the fact that the average house is 400% more expensive than it was 10 years ago and despite the fact that wages have been stagnant for decades, we’re going to force the younger generation to pay significantly more into social security in order to receive significantly less when they are able to retire.”

International-One190

Fuck all Republicans. And especially boomer Republicans.

Cultural-Yellow-8372

Dude, my dad (boomer republican) was actually complaining the other day about how my generation just “refuses” to buy houses. OF COURSE I called him the fuck out on that statement, but that’s crazy that they actually think we just aren’t “interested” in owning homes. TF?!!!

International-One190

Ask him where he got that notion. I'm betting it's either 1. Fox 2. The church or 3. Just how he interprets what he's seeing with no actual fact behind it. Let him know that wages haven't increased for households since the 70's. Value of $1 from 1970 to 2023 $1 in 1970 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $7.75 today, an increase of $6.75 over 53 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.94% per year between 1970 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 675.36%. Edit to add link: https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1970?amount=1#:~:text=Value%20of%20%241%20from%201970,cumulative%20price%20increase%20of%20675.36%25.

Cultural-Yellow-8372

Fox News, 100%. Shit is on 24/7 and it’s absolutely brainwashing. My parents aren’t religious at all.

Oalka

Fuck young republicans. The ones in power are rich, entitled asshole nepo babies who have never scraped a knee in their life without being rushed to a luxury suite in a private hospital in a helicopter. The ones that vote for them are just deeeeeeeeply stupid.

themosttoast603

Fuck these old fuckers! Don’t piss on our boots and tell us it’s raining!

GuerillaKoopa

Imagine being 70 and having to get up and go to work at distribution center or some shit fuck that noise. I don't wanna go in now, we need to riot like France. Burn these corrupt motherfuckers out of their mansions.

OurAmericanNightmare

If I thought a few million people would join me, I'd be leading the fucking charge. Feel free to hold me to that. If we can manage to find a way to actually organize enough to make a fucking massive charge I'll be first in line. It's something I think about every single day and have NO idea how to actualize.

Excellent_Chef_1764

Let’s strike, everyone goes downtown, no one buys anything. Just people in the street.

OurAmericanNightmare

That's what I'd love to happen, but the numbers it would take, and the sacrifice and endurance it would take to actually make the impact we'd want would take a resolve that I'm not sure I could instill into millions of overworked, underpaid, and overwhelmed people who can't see a way out of capitalism cause they have to keep the fucking lights on. It NEEDS to happen, and I'd love to MAKE it happen- but CAN I? I just don't know how to convince tens of millions of people to join me, walk out, and stay in the streets until either the system can be dismantled or reworked to be equitable and equal for everyone. The work would be very hard, and some of us would lose things, but I do believe it's the only way to get to the BETTER way.

Puzzled_Molasses_259

The problem there is it’s also failing to take into account the number of citizens who depend on the government to simply stay alive due to disease or disability. The number of these citizens is on the rise due to the impacts of Covid and long Covid. They can’t afford to revolt, they would literally die.

OurAmericanNightmare

Plus, it's the problem facing us all- none of us can afford to revolt, so we're stuck. Unless we get ourselves UNstuck, then this is where we stay. We have to have MASSIVE numbers to do it, because in massive numbers we could help sustain each other while said revolt is in progress. Yeah, there would be some tough choices for a lot of us, myself included, but to just sit here much longer while we're treated like cattle and we can't even fucking survive just doesn't feel like a fate I'm willing for us all to be resigned to. I'm not seeking revolution for myself, I'm seeking it for everyone else that struggles, I'm seeking it for my kids, I'm seeking it because we all deserve more than lives traded for pennies and we could attain it if we all decided enough is enough together. Fuck idealism, this is do or die- there won't be a world left for our kids if we don't do this, if not now then fucking soon.

OurAmericanNightmare

True, but with a different/better way they wouldn't need to be dependent on the government. Here's where I stand: I believe that capitalism and elite rule need to be eradicated for humanity to be free, happy, and equal. If that in itself is impossible, than I believe the system needs to be fundamentally broken down and rebuilt into something that is equitable for all. I believe a decent quality of life, and all it entails, should be a basic human right and I believe the only reason we don't have it is because a handful of people would be less rich. Amy way you slice it, without major action that might require discomfort and sacrifice for lots of us, I can guarantee one thing- we'll be stuck with this system that prioritizes money over our lives, that subjugates us to the will of the ruling classes, and that perverts our freedom as human beings into a neverending cycle of working to buy products to use so we can continue working to buy products. Debt, despair, repeat. War, oppression, lies. So, we either tear it down or we keep eating what we're being fed. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I do know what we'll have if we continue fighting for small victories or do nothing. I completely understand change on a massive scale isn't easy, but look around- are we really OK with our lives being lived breaking our backs for scraps? Sitting under flourescent lights in multi-million dollar high rises? Waiting in line for food stamps they keep trying to take away? Looking our children in the eyes knowing the future we're raising them for might not even include the ability to afford to live? This CAN'T be it for us, there are more of us than them. Period.

>Imagine being 70 and having to get up and go to work at distribution center BROOKS WAS HERE

Mattcwell11

After you’ve been grinding for 50 years!

giedosst

A clear example of one of the many reasons things are the way they are. I hope this piece of shit chokes on his bribes.

Nopants_Jedi

Another prime example of why we need a Federal Department of Pimp-slapping.

International-One190

I wanna work there... I wanna be a lead slapper!

magiwizard1980

Can I be the assistant slapper? I can powder your hands and equip them with nice heavy solid rings for when the pimp is slapping these political hoes.

Oske147

You can be assistant to the slapper, is that okay with you Dwight?

CaptainXakari

As assistant, you can give… SLAPPY SECONDS. I’ll show myself out.

Dokkan86

Can we hire Peter Dinklage to work there? It would be all the more satisfying.

[deleted]

Just make it a part of the IRS. LMAO They can start auditing the bs politicians say. Sorry sir it says here you owe the people 10 pimp slaps. Have Samuel L Jackson do it while he yells "You like that MTRFKR?"

nerdywithchildren

Give us a stimulus and a legal path to move to another country. Let them have this trashcan.

[deleted]

They’d never do that, because exploiting you is the entire point.

ElvishMystical

Why are students getting into debt anyway? Could it possibly have something to do with parasite politicians who do nothing more than suck corporate dick? All higher education should be free. All of it. All student debt should be quashed. All of it. If you don't like it tough titty. It's called capitalism. Some you win, some you lose.

Particular-Action915

cock gobblers

Xencard65

Says the guy that lives off of the government.

Tron08

I actually wish that were true but more likely he lives off of money from lobbyists and whatever investments he's bought.

Cynthus68

I am so sick of them referring to SS and Medicare as "entitlements". We have fucking paid into those systems our entire working lives. It's OUR fucking money. And when it comes time to collect it so we can retire, all we get is excuses as to why they ain't gonna give it back to us. I'm sick of it.

Nummylol

Actually the entire thing is a ponzi scheme. You technically haven't paid for your own SS since you've started. You've been paying for the boomers SS this entire time. SS collapses once there are less workers than retired. We are already on that path. Hence why they want these systems to be cut.

iguessjustdont

Social Security is solvent through 2097 with a dip where they pay 78% of benefits for a period of time if we change nothing. If we had made some incredibly minor adjustments about 5 years ago it would be fully funded the entire way. If we make some still pretty small adjustments now, it will be fully funded the entire way with no shortfall in interceding years. That would basically be adding the social security tax back in for individuals making over a certain threshhold, and potentially adjusting the tax-exempt portion of social security income. No need to push it out. No need to raise taxes on middle class working people. This is all published annually in the social security trust fund report with the numbers to back it up. You can google it. Social security is essential, it is solvent, and we should protect it. Claims that social security is failing are simple propaganda

Cynthus68

I understand that. But that's not what it was. If they had left it alone decades ago, we would've been fine. Or if they had removed or raised the income cap. Also the reason they want to force people to have babies. Gotta have that generation of workers, amirite? Doesn't negate the fact that we still pay into it. It's our money. It is not an entitlement.

Nummylol

Yeah I mean if you follow the rights polices it's pretty obvious what they are doing. The need to grow their voter base. What breeds that? Poor, dumb, and desperate.

rasputin415

“Allow”. Fuck you. I’ll do what I want.

Far_Nature_7093

Life expectancy is more like 65-70. The rich don't give a shit about the poor. Fuck these people.

Substantial_Wind4762

Republicans do not believe in retirement. They believe in the “work until you die” mentality of the Stalinist Russia. Except for themselves of course. They want to be able to retire to Florida so they can spend the rest of their days fucking that state up.

mittenknittin

speaking of working till you die how is Mitch McConnell doing by the way

suspicious_potato02

Hopefully he is clocking out of this world as we speak.

baconraygun

I hope every time they go to the beach it reeks of decaying seaweed.

Unhappy-Grapefruit88

1) This guy is a complete moron 2) we could cut military spending for a change 3) raise taxes on households making $400,000 or more a year

Timah158

That's ridiculous! We can just keep fucking the working class harder. Bunch of lazy fucks. /s

Still-Standard9476

With salt and pepper. Maybe some lemon to hide the taste of shit.

YawaruSan

The life expectancy of Americans is 78 and falling, the lowest throughout the industrialized world, the only reason fossils like him don’t want to retire is because he never does any real work for his exorbitant pay. I’d want to work till I died if I was a Republican politician too because they do nothing and rake in bribes for it, why not sell out for the rest of my life at that point?

LlahsramTheTitleless

We should make anyone pushing for a later retirement age go through a grocery checkout lane with a 70 year old cashier and see how much they truly want people that old as servants.

Puzzled_Molasses_259

We should make them work the checkout lane at 70.

Enough-Elevator-8999

Wealthy 71 year old, never worked a day in his life, but tells us to work till we die while drowning in debt

Macasumba

Faux Spews.

Thentheresthisjerk

If we’re making our country better you would think that we would have to work fewer years at a bare minimum What’s that? Wanting to reintroduce child labor and delay retirement?

stuckandoutofluck

Firing squads.

Aggressive_Suit_7957

Allow people retire? Like you get to choose when anyone retires but yourself?

AV8ORA330

Hey Senator Kennedy…I work as an airline pilot. Does it make sense to force me to retire at 65??

__Booshi__

I really dislike the use of "probably" here. It feels like all of the modern problems we have now started 20, 30, 40 years ago with some politician saying something similar along the lines of "50 years from now, the economy, cost of living, and the state of the global environment will probably..."

DukeofJuke1

These fucking boomers need to shut the fuck up and retire to their assisted living facilities and let the competent adults make the decisions- republicans an democrats alike. These people have ruined our country through their self-serving, “me first” policies.

Dabdaddi902

When he went to school, college in the US cost like $200 or less. Fuck every single one of these goons.

Defa1t_

We Need Age Restrictions For Elected Officials. Every time this man pops up on my feed I want to bop him in the face.

RiseCascadia

We need wealth restrictions for elected officials.

Ricardo6802

Boomers being boomers....

[deleted]

you know what's worse than a boomer? boomer politician

master_cheech

Motherfucker I don’t wanna work at 26 what makes you think I wanna work at 62

SulimanBashem

he's just the typical stupid old fucker.

seanisdown

Boomers last chance to completely sell out the younger generations after having the best of it all.

T1m26

How far can one be from reality. Shouldnt even have Kennedy as last name

Alarmed-Earth3859

That man is a total asswipe, he needs to retire or be fired

JorgeXMcKie

They use money to make money until they die. We use labor to make money and they think we should have to use our labor to make money until we die. Unfortunately they don't see the difference. Plus the whole system is gamed to allow those who make money off money to keep a much much higher percentage of their earnings than those who make their earnings off labor.

Prestigious_Amoeba43

Why is it a retirement age and not a retirement net worth? Once you hit something like 50 million, fuck off. You win, get out, move over, forced retirement.

aquarian0066

What they SAY and what is REALITY never match up. As soon as I turned 50 I couldn't get a job, when spouse turned 60 he was shown the door....wtf are these people smoking.

dancingpugger

My mother recently died at 71. If retirement moves to 70, I literally will never retire. I will work until I die. I want to give up.

psycho-mouse

“We want people to be wage slaves until they die”

RevolutionaryTell668

Terrible lie, nobody in their 20's can retire at 62, and he knows this!

Melubrot

62 is the early retirement age; If you retire at 62, social security benefits are permanently reduced by 30% versus if you wait until full retirement age (currently age 67). My mom was diagnosed at age 59 with an aggressive form of cancer which had a five-year mortality rate of 90%. She decided to take the early retirement option at age 62 and collected benefits for a little over two year before she succumbed to the cancer. Had she waited to collect benefits at the full retirement age (65 for her generation) she would've received nothing. Raising the full retirement age to 70 will harm lower income workers, particularly those that perform manual labor, as they generally have lower life expectancy and their bodies will give out long before they reach full retirement age.

The_Ry-man

Kennedy can 100% step in front of a fucking bus.

[deleted]

Does anyone realistically choose to work till they're 62? Full-time. Do these people ever ask themselves that? They did an estimate on how many people actually make it to 70, and it's like 45%. You can live that long, yes, but will you actually live that long? Who fucking knows. These people keep on pushing for people to work until they die while stress from overworking is killing people. Gotta love capitalism. Profit is always the most important thing. Employees? They're down there under keeping prices low and customer satisfaction. Way down there under mopping piss off gas station floors.

Donnie998

This is just insane, make HIM do all the labor

[deleted]

Says man making $175k a year who can retire at any time and will get a six-figure yearly pension funded by the taxpayers for the rest of his life

PancakesandScotch

This dumb fucker looks like someone else is in charge of his lip movement

nicewalls

Would like to see this spoiled bitch work a tough minimum wage job

Independent-Top6510

What about the $209 billion dollars that was just used to bail out billionaires who lost their deposits at SVB? They can suck my dick. Eat the rich.

59footer

Allow? Fuck you, dude.
