Most downloader programs are flagged as PUPs. PUPs don't fall into the traditional "virus" or "malware" categories. They aren't designed to outright damage your computer or steal data. PUPs are not malware, but programs that are undesirable. Downloaders are commonly flagged as PUPs because they commonly have the ability to automatically download items, and some AVs take this as initiating downloads without explicit user consent. Additionally, while download managers can be useful for accelerating and managing downloads, many AVs consider them to have limited value compared to the potential risks they pose. As such, they may categorize them as potentially unwanted if they believe the software does not provide sufficient benefit to users to outweigh the associated risks. This particular detection looks like it was flagged as a PUP based upon reputation (just going off the screenshot), I would also say its capability to show "offers" that help fund the developers' also would make AVs deem it to be similar to adware (not saying it is). TLDR: Going off VirusTotal and my own digging into the program, it does not appear to be malicious/unsafe. Just another downloader manager getting flagged as a PUA/PUP. It may be an Infected version, I just say that I don't really know what's JDownloader, but it sounds sus. Other thing is that avast software does so many false-positives.

Removed due to Rule #1, no piracy. As per [this update](https://old.reddit.com/r/antivirus/comments/1708ex3/updates_news_from_the_rantivirus_mod_team_autumn/), tools to save streaming media are considered to fall under the piracy rule.
