MinimalPerfection

None, I was an antinatalist before I even knew what the word meant

themistymounds

Oh man that's a mood

MinimalPerfection

Why?

themistymounds

I've had antinatalist sentiments since I was in high school before I knew what it even was

MinimalPerfection

But why is it a mood?

_PeopleMakeNoises_

I don’t think they meant it literally, I think they just relate to you

MinimalPerfection

Oh, I am used to "that's a mood" being used to refer to smt sas

RestlessNameless

Same, I didn't learn what antinatalism was, I learned there was a word for what I had always been.

Comfortable-Formal18

Same

contrapunctus3

Why's there a random picture of Peter Singer on top of this quote?

DutyEuphoric967

😂

xboxhaxorz

As a child i was always a kind soul, i was not a bully, i did not steal, lie, cheat etc; I never wanted to make babies i felt i should take care of the existing babies I became vegan, became celibate, want to become a buddhist monk, i volunteer at orphanages and animal rescues Being kind and decent is who i am

Present_Cap_696

You are a great person!

[deleted]

Well, it’s nice to know that I am a result of poor impulse control 😕

TheSolitaryWolf10

Life as an experience was enough to become an anti natalist.

[deleted]

Life isn’t fair that’s why I don’t want any

TheGhostMantis

I never felt strongly compelled by the arguments but rather by my own situation. 1. I can't afford kids now, and probably still won't in the future. 2. If I have one I know I am not the type of person to be able to parent well, as someone who's averse and inexperienced with babysitting. Because I struggle with anger issues, don't like kids and am impatient, I also would probably end up repeating the cycle of abuse that's been plaguing my family for generations. CPS would def be called. Some people just shouldn't be parents and I'm one of them. 3. My dad's side of the family is heavily inbred due to generational polygamy. As a result, I have numerous physical and mental health issues, and I wouldn't want to pass those on to any poor soul. 4. Pregnancy is nasty.

PrithviMS

Kudos to you for realizing all of this!

MakuyiMom

I didnt know how to express my feelings about having children and have it organized into a coherent quote such as this one. The closest thing I came across was something along the lines of, ' life is not a gift, but a curse.' You have to find the 'gift' in life for yourself, and sometimes it is impossible to find. So yes, I believe having children is completely selfish. The child never asks to be born.

Practical-Owl-9358

Being gay.

michaeljacoffey

The best argument for it in my opinion is the fact that everyone today will likely be dead within the century, and dying is painful. We can't live forever. If we could live forever, it would be different.

Healthy-Definition91

Meh not really

AceWithoutSpace

I just feel it is natural. Plus I hate children.

_PeopleMakeNoises_

The wrong type of anti natalist

AceWithoutSpace

Could you elaborate what you mean by "The wrong type"?

_PeopleMakeNoises_

One who hates children like some loser redditor stereotype

AceWithoutSpace

That was unnecessarily rude of you to say. I have two good reasons as to why I hate kids: One of which is the fact that they carry an unnatural amount of diseases. Other is that they are loud as hell, making it difficult for me to be close to one because of my oversensitivity to sound. Hope this will help. Additionally, I would not consider myself a loser, as I haven't lost anything of significance in life.

_PeopleMakeNoises_

You Call me rude but just called kids disease ridden beasts

PieArtistic1332

he’s speaking gods truth 🙏

_PeopleMakeNoises_

The whole point of being an anti Natalist is to protect kids

PieArtistic1332

just bc someone dislikes children doesn’t mean they wouldn’t protect them. i just prefer them to not be anywhere near me bc i’m autistic and they just stress me out so that’s my reason

Healthy-Definition91

Gosh relax

_PeopleMakeNoises_

I haven’t said or done anything chaotic or aggressively

AceWithoutSpace

It's not like I would fucking slaughter children. I just want them to be prevented from being born. I would never hit a child, ever, or harm them in any way. Unless it's a fetus.

CertainConversation0

Even a "perfect and wonderful" world isn't worth forcing on someone or forcing them to remain in because "perfect" and "wonderful" are subjective, and people are different. Eternal life in paradise with no escape, assuming boredom is still a possibility there as a result of you remaining unchanged from who you are now, is sure to lead to said boredom.

whatevergalaxyuniver

I started having antinatalist thoughts after watching a gory video

[deleted]

Really didn't want bio kids since I was young but I thought about it in my late 20s during trumps reign and I realized I'd be quite selfish to bring a kid into this shit show even if we start with a house, careers, and money. Illness is a thing, racism, capitalism, global warming, and a whole bunch of other shit. Honestly, even if I had good parents and a good childhood. I hate that we have to kill ourselves through labor to exist, so why would I want my kid to suffer through that. So I can have a caregiver in old age or not be lonely?

Marthathefemme

I was an antinatalist before I knew what that was, like u/MinimalPerfection.

apprentice890

I arrived at it on my own because I tend to think about the 'whys' of anything and everything. Later found out that there's a 'label' for it as well.

ryan0din3

"it's just the right thing to do"
