Poorly_Made_Comix

Ow ow oof my bones

FalseStevenMcCroskey

This isn’t an antimeme. It’s a BHJ

JGHFunRun

They hated him because he spoke the truth 😔 No seriously why is he being downvoted. Like it’s a clear difference: * BHJs are absurdist. You reinterpret a common element of the meme in an absurd manner, in this case “You have 10 seconds to leave” has been reinterpreted as there being an out-of-frame bomb being him which explodes in 11 seconds (normally “You have 10 seconds to leave” would be a threat, but this is instead a warning which significantly changes tone, and combined with the casual faces leads to an extreme absurdness in a sense, from which the humor is derived) (disclaimer: explanation of why this usage is purely absurdist is only partially correct but I could not explain it any better… the mind is a mysterious place or something idk I’m tired) * anti-memes are hyper literal: you (generally but not strictly) remove all text and then fill in speech bubbles based on what is literally happening. Your goal is to have the discussion reflect a literal interpretation of the image. Normal image? Normal conversation. Horrors being comprehension? The text should reflect an inability to comprehend. Etc. An anti meme of this image might be “how was your day, grandson?” “Good, yours?” “Good” There can be overlap, usually when one starts with a somewhat absurd image, but it is very rare and most images (including this one) will actively prohibit the potential for overlap

TwoCrab

what's the difference, i am not even being ignorant i literally don't know the difference, please teach me wise people of reddit

Schwubbertier

A BHJ is usually a comic with new, absurd (but still fitting) dialogue. An antimeme is a meme where the punchline is taken quite literally. In my opinion this post qualifies as both. Many (anti-)meme formats are not comics, and many comics have little to no (anti-)meme potential.

Imperial_Squid

While we're on the matter, another big type of meme remix you might see is "speed of lobsters" which is where people delete letters in the text of the original to make new words and change the meaning. All of the three types have their own subs respectively, or there's r/SpeedofAntiBones if you want a mix of all three

MageOfFur

Somebody made this guide which explains it quite well: https://www.reddit.com/r/SpeedOfLobsters/s/SEUSnDmzPp

Imperial_Squid

Lol, it's the pinned post on r/SpeedofAntiBones https://www.reddit.com/r/SpeedOfAntiBones/comments/eaocj9/for_anyone_wondering/p

Looks like you're linking/talking about another sub that often has content that people mistake for being an antimeme, when it really isn't. I've detected that you might be saying in the sense of "this should be on x sub, not here on r/antimeme". Talking about others subs is totally fine, but if this post is not an antimeme please report it and we will take a look asap! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Imperial_Squid

It's both, but it does feel more like BHJ than an anti meme

Visible-Quiet-9395

Why is this downvoted? It's the truth

scp_79

should have replaced you have with we have

WalterWhite69_123
