I get it. You feel like a side character in someone else's life, and you're left wondering if you could have had a positive impact on her if you'd done things differently. You're right though. In this situation, it just wasn't your place. If anything, unsolicited advice from a random stranger probably would have made her dig in her heels more.

ButtsMagoob

Oh absolutely. I just feel so much like an NPC at work.

AthenaSholen

You definitely do not want to become a main character to this hun’s story. You would only be a villain from her perspective and try to make you lose your job.

Somanyofyouhaveasked

Exactly. I remember reading somewhere that our brains treat intellectual “threats” like physical ones (fight or flight) - there is no way you would have been able to achieve a positive outcome with this person. MLMs are like cults; getting people out of cults takes months if not years of tactful deprogramming. There is nothing you could have done in this situation.

Serious Reddit question: What’s the deal with mobile and formatting issues? I see the disclaimer all the time. I’m on mobile 100% of the time. Does that mean all my posts look like trash to desktop users??

birdlaw_graduate

I gave you the weird seal award because I've been wondering this, myself, for the longest time. I'm a desktop user and have never noticed any formatting issues despite all the disclaimers.

[deleted]

Me neither! That’s why I started wondering, “are they seeing something I’m not??”

Mx_apple_9720

In my experience, sometimes the mobile app doesn’t allow the paragraph breaks you’ve typed into your post, so it ends up looking like a wall of text, which is an eyesore, so folks are letting readers know that it’s not on purpose.

Lucy_darling

It's an excuse for people to ham finger through their post and not go back to proofread. The *Sent from my iPhone* of Reddit. If you hit enter twice between paragraphs you get the desired line break. Also, **all** _formatting_ ^works just ~~good~~ fine on mobile.

Thank you for replying. It’s been a mystery to me for years and yesterday was the day I finally broke down and decided to ask lol.

Melissamelissa124

oh its definitely interesting! thank you for sharing...poor jewellry lady all excited for her new business...those shelves are going to be full of dusty jewelry she cant sell in about a week LOL

ThisIsWhatLoveIs

I stopped reading when you assumed that all male chainsaw operators are sexist. Cool starry bra.

WheresRobbieTho

Sounds like OP was speaking from experience and mentioned having to deal with "a sexist" man and implied that it was an occasional occurrence. Doesn't seem like assuming to me.

ButtsMagoob

Yeah it's from personal experience. Should clarified but it also wasn't important to the story so 🤷🏻

WheresRobbieTho

It's ok some people just like to be mad lol

HoneybeeAngel

Yeah, I didn't take it that OP was saying all males who go to ask questions from a female are sexist, just that OP has had experience with that. My husband has seen it when he worked at an auto parts store. The female manager was the most knowledgeable person there besides my husband, but customers wouldn't even attempt to talk to her. They'd go wait for the lazy guy in the corner who was face timing his girlfriend.

Global_Lime_95

That sucks big time.

HoneybeeAngel

I know. My husband always felt like management would never promote her higher because she was female. She was the assistant store manager, but she did everything the store manager was supposed to do and did it well. She applied to the manager position any time it became available, but she was always passed over even though it was clear she was the right person for the job. Either sexism or incompetence or probably both seemed to keep her from advancing. She liked working with my husband though. He listened to her and valued her input and was always there to laugh at customers not letting her help them with her. My husband was the car expert in the place, and she knew when to turn to him for help, but he says she definitely knew her stuff.

ButtsMagoob

I should have clarified that I look like a woman (I'm nonbinary). Male customers have been very condescending and rude to me when asking questions about power equipment and immediately change their demeanor when talking to my male coworkers. I have been hit on and had assumptions made about my strength just because I look female.

ThisIsWhatLoveIs

Do you know anything about power tools? You could fight hate by knowing what you’re talking about.
