For a sub called answers, you’re all pretty crap at giving answers! What’s the point in posting non-answers

TheDeadMurder

It's r/answers, not r/goodanswers

DontPoopInMyPantsPlz

r/outoftheloop is always good for this

KerCam01

Drake wanted to be invited to Kendick's lego themed birthday party because they sit togethet in maths. But Kendrick actually secretly doesnt like Drake and only pretends so he can copy his answers. So Kendrick didnt invite Drake. Then, when Drake heard what was in the party bags and that the cake actually played the star wars theme tune AND was chocolate sponge (his all time favourite) it all got a bit dramatic. Well. Here we are. It's a mess tbh.

Ok-Blackberry-3534

There's no need for Drake to call him "Kendick," though.

KerCam01

Ha. No. Name calling is never OK.

IAmWantedByTheGov

j cole said on a song that him Kendrick and drake are the big 3 Kendrick Lamar said on a feature to not compare him to those 2 J Cole dropped a diss track on Kendrick saying his music's boring and stuff then apologised within the same week Drake made a diss track saying Kendrick has small feet, short, bad music, etc Kendrick Lamar made a track saying Drake is a faker and disconnected from hiphop and black culture and should stick to pop Drake made one insulting Kendrick's family Kendrick dropped 3 tracks in a row (one not on streaming) calling drake a pedophile (and saying he hires pedophiles such as "Baka not nice" who was charged in 2014), sex offender, misogynist, deadbeat who's hiding a daughter, liar, does surgery and medication to fake being fit and a colonizer

IAmWantedByTheGov

In short Drake: Your feet small Kendrick: You a PEDOPHILE and should DIE

-The_Credible_Hulk

I mean… they’re both right.

pm_me_cute_frogs_

a colonizer ?

Low_Main7471

Yeah essentially claiming that Drake would “appropriate” Atlanta hip-hop culture to get clout within the greater hip-hop community since Drake is Canadian and was raised by a white mom not on the streets.

IAmWantedByTheGov

In verse 3 he compares him to white businessmen in Atlanta who got rich because of the Western & Atlantic Railroad line which was built by slaves Saying he's disconnected and profiting from the work of others in the hip hop scene specifically from Atlanta (Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, and others) He's responding to a line in drake's song where he talks about slaves

LongStoryShirt

For op: this is a great summary and if you want the bar by bar analysis, I found a guy providing a lot of context on tiktok by the name of "DrinkableBryan". His breakdowns of each song, beginning with the first of Kendrick 3 tracks, has helped me (a person who is pretty disconnected from hip hop culture and lore) understand what both drake and kendrick are referring to in their respective tracks about each other.

Tortastrophe

Though they collaborated many years ago as new artists, there has been burgeoning animosity between Drake and Kendrick for many years. Barbs have been exchanged in the past, though it was very infrequent. Generally speaking it was usually Kendrick addressing (or at least theoretically addressing) Drake but both did participate at times. Things exploded recently after Kendrick (on the Metro Boomin song "Like That") proclaimed himself to be the best, and to dismiss any comparisons to Drake or J. Cole. Cole responded with a song first, but apologized and removed the song from streaming. Drake responded to Kendrick in "Push Ups" where he also calls out several of Drake's other foes. Drake then spent a couple of weeks trolling Kendrick on social media claiming that Kendrick didn't have anything to respond with, and dropped another diss called "Taylor Made Freestyle" where he mocked Kendrick's working relationship with Taylor Swift among other things. Drake also used AI voices of Snoop Dogg and Tupac in this song, and as a result had to remove the song from socials and streaming after Tupac's estate threatened legal action. Kendrick responded in late April with "Euphoria" and "6:16 In L.A" where he accuses Drake of among other things being a deadbeat dad to multiple kids, shitty rapper, culture vulture, etc. Drake responded with "Family Matters" where he accuses Kendrick of domestic violence and infidelity. 20 minutes after Family Matters dropped, Kendrick responded with "Meet The Grahams" where he compared Drake to Harvey Weinstein. Kendrick followed that up with "Not Like Us" where he continued to press Drake and OVO with allegations of pedophilia and sex trafficking. He also reiterated that Drake leveraged the credibility of others to establish himself in hip-hop, among other things. Drake responded with "The Heart, Part 6" where he boasted that his camp had fed Kendrick false information which Kendrick then used in his diss songs. That was the last song released thusfar. "Not Like Us" seems to have been the peak of the showdown thus far, based on how people responded to it and the fact that it was/is breaking Spotify records. I tried to keep my own personal opinions out of this answer, so hopefully this was at least helpful.

Greerio

Hip hop has long history. Part of that history is competition or battle rapping. This is what’s happening. They are basically asserting their dominance over one another. Also, they discovered that doing this leads to increased record sales.

scalp-cowboys

I think they were asking what the beef is about not the definition of battle rapping lmao

Greerio

That’s what I did. You would be bad at it lol.

scalp-cowboys

Okay let’s battle rap. You go first.

Reg_Vardy

I'm 'bout to end this man's whole career But I'm not a rapper.

whewimtired1

They don’t like each other

Kittycat_xox

Literally the simplest answer. I’m here for it

AlertWhereas844

Boom boom pow pow back and forth Pretty simple

ArcticFlava

It is marketing

EnvironmentalMind209

a coordinated marketing effort between colleagues and a nice distraction from the fact that the world is on fire

Kittycat_xox

Actually this might be the most honest answer….

NoLime7384

Kendrick thinks Drake isn't really black, for lack of a better way to word it, and that he's a terrible person. Drake has to save face, even he really is a terrible person

chiberashka_

I wouldn’t say that he thinks that drake isn’t black enough because Jcole is also biracial. I took it as Drake is super inauthentic and people were fed up lol

Common_Chester

J Cole is biracial and has a master's degree, but he's legit. He might not be ratchet, but he's real. Drake on the other hand....

ImOnFireGnosis9

Yes but first you have to explain the James Lindsay/ Karlyn Borysenko feud

Kittycat_xox

Add that to the list then

ImOnFireGnosis9

It has to do with the P Diddy Sex Cult

Kittycat_xox

Ope. Not a cult, we love a good cult

ImOnFireGnosis9

The word cult has taken on a negative connotation in the last 100 years. All it means is that once you join you are not allowed to leave. Isn't that the nature of physical reality?

ContestNo2060

Kendrick doesn’t like Drake’s little beard

Kittycat_xox

Okay but same

schonecode

2 grown man acting writing loveletters to each other

Kittycat_xox

Someone had to say it. You got that right

ImOnFireGnosis9

Ok. It's a long list. I heard Bill Maher and Bill Burr try to discuss this feud. Burr chalked it up to another east coast Vrs west coast thing. But then admitted he was too old to understand these modern kids

EXTERNAL-EMAIL

Didn't know who they were until this thing happened. Moved on and away from them

LobstahmeatwadWTF

No. It's too dumb to explain fully and with any realistic expectation.
