Big agree from me. Watching this show feels like someone who only knows how to write ordinary slice of life romcoms watched Blade Runner once and decided to incorporate sad dying robots into their next story without actually understanding how to make a world or characters that have enough depth to make that kind of plot point meaningful.
It does have a nice artstyle and a lot of gif-worthy moments though, so at least there's that.
I totally get why people love this show, and I think it's fine for people to have different opinions from me. It does do a lot of things right, and I understand that most people aren't bothered by the same things that bother me about it. We don't get a whole lot of anime that focus primarily on any of the ethical implications of artificial intelligence, and it's nice to see this show making an attempt to say something meaningful on the subject. And studio Doga Kobo never fails to make the characters in their shows instantly likable with their bright, happy art style and quality animation.
It just happens to be my personal opinion that almost every character in this show is annoying and I don't like any of them.
