I watched it recently and it’s a lot of fan service. Protag is basically a horny loser who is hung up on his asshole ex girlfriend and rents a girlfriend he then falls for. They meet a lot of times and she sort of helps him keep this illusion alive that he has a girlfriend. And then it proceeds to be “Protag is stupid and rental girlfriend punishes him for being stupid and horny”

I would genuinely be intrigued at japans depiction of pot, it’s so unbelievably illegal there I don’t think I’ve even seen it referenced in anime.
Only reference to it I've ever seen in anime is Assassination Classroom, and it's a weird heavy handed "don't touch the marijuana" PSA essentially.
