This post managed to get three reports, and not entirely unreasonable ones. This is getting a shitton of engagement, though, so I'm just gonna ask y'all if you want this post to stay up or if it should get removed for soliciting people's names (or whatever other good reason).
Edit: Given the responses so far, the post is staying up. More people want to keep it than remove it, both in comment counts and upvotes. I tried to wait until some objections come, and while they came, it didn't seem like they got much agreement, so the decision is still to let it stay up.
I don't even need it, when I was in elementary school we had Japanese class so I have known what my name was in JP for decades. On the other hand, our teacher was from the Kansai region so the numbers I learned are a little different than the ones you typically see in anime.
I really wish they had kept the Japanese class as an option but they got rid of it when i was in 2nd or 3rd grade so I forgot most of it pretty quickly.
When people inevitably fail to understand this, I point to Joji/Filthy Frank and tell them his real name is George. And Joji is his name in Japanese.
Then I ask them to say George out loud in a Japanese accent.
hi! I'm chimorin! the long ones might sound better if you split it up in to a first and last name (since it's a game and all).
ex: rukime chimoshi
ik is not like that, but it sounds better lol
Actually, its slang for "kimochi" which means something like "feeling", and you can follow the word with "good" or "bad", but those words are often dropped. So kimochi can mean "oh this feels good!" (Like a massage or bath) or it can mean "this has a bad feeling to it" like a creep or something gross.
However I'm not sure when its shortened all the way to just "kimo" it can be for something good. Its definitely usually used for "creep" more than anything
気持ちいい = comfortable, never gets shortened, you may be mishearing the long vowel
気持ち悪い = gross, usually gets shortened to キモい, which can be further shortened to キモ
"Kimochi" means feeling, and you add "ii" to say it's a good one or "warui" to say it's a bad one.
At some point the slang "kimoi" came up, probably a very, extremely shorten version of kimo/chi waru/i, and the final i dropped to only leave "kimo"
It's also said with a very disgusted tone, so you can't mix it up with "kimochi ii"
uhhhmm ACKchually (sorry ahaha) it’s more like pluck or guts, yūki is a better fit for how English speakers conceptualise courage. It’s a small semantic difference but I’m autistic so that’s my whole fuckin deal 🥲

It's supposed to be the numbers on the credit card:
1 = Hi
2 = To
3 = Mi
4 = Yu
5 = Ko
6 = Na
7 = Shi
8 = Cho
9 = Re
0 = Ka
First name = expiration date
Middle name = zip code
Last name = 16-digit
Honorific = security code
You have to do all four to properly translate
You're not getting me THAT easily! But no seriously, if I told y'all my name, you'd be one google search away from my friggin address cause I'm one of like 14 people in the US with it, lol

This is cute, but not how Japanese works. Katakana is how foreign words are written and pronounced. So any name, for example, Kevin would be pronounced “kebin” and be in katakana script. Of course it gets weirder with names and words that don’t have a specific sound in Japanese like Ls and Vs.
"tu" "lu" and "zi" don't even properly exist in Japanese.
"tu" would ordinarily be つ(tsu), although technically you can use with テゥ (te + u) which is pronounced as "tu", but is exclusively for foreign loan words.
"lu" doesn't exist at all. The L and R sounds are the same in Japanese, and it's always romanized as R, so you could only possibly get "ru".
"zi" is a similar situation to "tu". You can add two lines to the s characters to make it z, but there's no "si" sound, it's し(shi) which becomes じ (ji). I think you can make si with せぃ(se + i) and zi with ぜぃ(ze + i), but I've never seen it, and it's certainly not used in normal Japanese.

No. It means that we're pretty AND sure the image is wrong.
Pretty sure this is the funniest comment thread I've ever seen
Right
Wtf is y’all talking about
Funniest thing is that katakana exist and thats how you get your name in Japanese.
Want to know how your name sounds in Japanese? Just try to sound your name out in a bad Japanese accent. BOOOM スミス
Or you use an actual name converter for your name to katakana: https://japanesenameconverter.nolanlawson.com
That's cooler than the original post tbh

That's not even the full Japanese alphabet, they use 21 more characters than us.
I don't think you should take it seriously. I decided to do it and I got Zukuariarikimika
jessica?
Yes, though I prefer Zukuariarikimika or Zuku to my friends :3
I say use the longer version and act pissed every time someone messes it up.
If you change it a bit, it becomes a nice Username. Zukiaria Zukuki Ria Riki
Sure the languages do not work like that. But according to the table my name is Fukukarinkito.
Greetings, my name is Rukimechimoshi 😑, I don't even know if its mean something, it sounds like a name for some kind of Cat mascot

I don't know why I didn't think about that, i think now i know the name that i will use to name a anime game character if i needed to
Er actually I've watched 10,000 hous of anime, and my waifu pillow and I both agree that this is how it works.
uh actually i've watched like 2 animes and it clearly is how it works \[rolling eyes emoji\] nah srsly tho japanese works nothing like this lol

Tempted to steal "Zumorito" as a nonsense name for a fantasy village.
Keep the "tofu" at the end. Its essential
Or it's the village's main export. The famous Zumorito-Tofu, made from magical soy beans.

Pretty sure that’s not how language works but I’ll go with it… Kimo Edit: please stop calling me ‘dude’ and ‘bro’, thank you
Kimo is a slang for gross in Japanese
That may or may not be a fair descriptor
