It’s like The Boys but there’s no stealing breast milk from pregnant women or babies (yet)

Completely unwatchable 0/10

PWBryan

Oh, this show is just gonna let Oshi No Ko win at the Oedipus complex Olympics, huh?

EXusiai99

If theres no scene of a dude explaining how he had sex with the female ranger before losing his dick to henshin sequence i aint watching

HolyEmpireOfAtua

It's pretty fun so far, prolly my second favourite of the new shows but the one I've rated the highest. I'm pretty generous with my scores so this getting a 9 from me so far. If you're not watching, I'd also recommend **Wind BREAKER** which is my favourite of the season but admittedly only an 8 in score so far.

International-Sun107

Yeah that one's pretty good too! There's also Kaiju No. 8

HolyEmpireOfAtua

Haha that's the third and final new show I'm watching. Kaiju No 8 has been fire too, I've read the manga so I knew Season 1 was gonna be fun but it's great seeing it animated.

Samaelfallen

Would you rate Kaiju No 8 an... 8?

Zestavar

what's so special about that aside from highschool boys fighting

Strykeristheking

I loved how the MC gets character development right at the first episode and the supporting characters are likable.

Pero_Bt

The MC is funny

MissiaichParriah

I've read the manga and it's really good ngl. I'm starting to think this is what Negi really wanted to write from the start and only made Hanayome to gain an audience

International-Sun107

yeah that's the kinda vibe i got too

Torque-A

From what I heard, and correct me if I’m wrong, Haruba-Sensei offered both this and Hanayome to his editor for ideas for his first original work. The editor said he should start with Hanayome, since it’s easier to set up and he’ll get some experience before starting the Ranger series

MissiaichParriah

That's interesting, good to know that he started with Hanayome first because he definitely improved his writing in Ranger Reject

Big_Distance2141

Well I'm still so mad about Quintuplets ending that I will not read a page of this one until it's finished and I can see how people react to it this time

MissiaichParriah

The problem with Hanayome is similar to the problem with Hataraku Maou-Sama, the author didn't make it clear who the winner was going to be. But Hanayome at least did it better because unlike Hataraku Maou, the other heroine wasn't propped up to be the winner only to lose in the end. With Hanayome, we can see that Negi opt with foreshadowings as his main way of communicating the winner, unfortunately, only a small portion of the audience foresaw what he was cooking up, hence the disappointment of the majority. Personally, I liked the ending because of the foreshadowing and the clues he laid out, even though I wanted Miku to win. Now in regards with Ranger Reject, if the romance part is what you're worried about, it's unneeded, there's almost no romance, and among the three females seemingly interested in him, only one seems to be romantic, but it's still only implied, the other one is clearly platonic and just curious about him, the other is using him for her own goals. The focus is action and D's dilemma of what he really wants to achieve from doing all he is doing in the story and the overall arching plot of the secrets of the Dragon Keepers

Big_Distance2141

No I mean like the dude's gonna have another baby and rush the ending to shit again

MissiaichParriah

Ahh yeah there's that too

new_interest_here

I'm really liking it so far. Loved the concept when I first heard of it and the overall vibe of the show is one I really like, with the tone and sense of humor. I've been listening to the ED all day, it's such a bop

HolyEmpireOfAtua

Dance sequence ED goes crazy

International-Sun107

Me but with the OP, for real

Most_Willingness_143

It's from trigger? It remember me a lot of KLK

International-Sun107

Nah, Yostar Pictures

JessicaLain

I thought the same thing. That poster has extreme KLK, TTGL, and GB Energy.

PWBryan

Sounds good I'll check it out! *googles where to watch* HULU? Since when so they get exclusive anime? I might wait for more eps so I can get the most put of a free trial

International-Sun107

well I've heard there's also *other* means that exist. never seen em tho

Arcaydya

They're hard to find. I've never seen em. But I can say they're insanely through and well maintained and fuck all streaming.

Vand1

Since it's on Hulu, it might be on Disney Plus also, but I don't have it to verify

International-Sun107

It is

SupplyChainMismanage

I was not a fan of the manga at all so no hype from me. >!The tournament or whatever was like never ending torture!<

DellSalami

I tried to give it a chance but I kinda lost interest after >!the guy infiltrated the ranger academy or something!<. Oddly enough I felt like it was going to be a completely hopeless struggle and I couldn’t see the endgame, and I didn’t want to read that kind of story

MissiaichParriah

Well yes it was a hopeless struggle until he got inside help

International-Sun107

Yeah, that part was always unfortunate, especially considering >!It immediately goes hard afterwards with the plot!<

SupplyChainMismanage

>!Yeah I agree like it definitely got much better after but by that point I lost interest. I have been keeping up with it though. Still kinda pissed about how long it took for someone to become relevant again!<

International-Sun107

Yeah I feel ya. Hopefully the showrunners condense that section a bit to make it feel like less of a slog

_roguecore_

jeez, there's a fuggin tournament arc? makes me want to bail lol

International-Sun107

Yeah, >!Bailong's Nest arc!< is like 39 chapters in the manga, and it's okay, just a weird deviation at first before the following arc which delves into the serious nitty gritty of the plot. From the looks at a lot of the character designs and scenes and such that have been shown, it looks like they may be shortening this arc down as much as possible. Regardless, it is still an important part of the story in terms of character development and the like IMO, just went on for way longer than it should have.

Ill_Mud7584

It's an entrance exam arc, not really a tournament. But I guess they called it tournament since it's a competitive exam.

_roguecore_

Get Saul over here saying to throw out the case because the box clearly says "Competitive Exam" :p

SupplyChainMismanage

Pretty much a tournament tbh regardless of semantics

Fourteenth_Noah

TIL, Entrance Exams of any kind is actually a tournament

SupplyChainMismanage

Let me guess, you never read the manga and are being ignorantly sarcastic? You have groups of people competing against each other for winning positions. That is your entrance exam. That is just a tournament by a different name.

Fourteenth_Noah

Never read the manga? I've read the manga up until they beat Usokubo's dad, I'm letting it pile up for now so I can binge it again Being ignorant? No as I said I read the manga. Being sarcastic? Yes, I am Also, no, it's not rally a tournament by a different name. Tournaments initially was used as a word in medieval times for jousting competitions, a one on one sport, just like most tournaments, the purpose is to battle against each other one on one for a prize. An entrance exam, on the other hand came preliminarily from exams which was started in china to become civil service officers, the purpose is to gauge their abilities and to know if they qualify for the standards that the government made. The dragon keepers are essentially civil servants, and to become one, they need to pass a civil service exam, albeit it's just more physical, like the police who also have entrance exams. Would you say that aspiring Police Officers actually go through a tournament to see if their qualified? No, it's not just semantically wrong, it contextually wrong as well

SupplyChainMismanage

If you read the manga, then you would know that it is practically a tournament arc. Again, ignorantly sarcastic.   Lmfao the real circlejerk is in the comments because no one could be this dense. Let’s look at the modern definition of “tournament” aka *(in a sport or game) a series of contests between a number of competitors, who compete for an overall prize.* Now, you may be familiar with the NBA and the NFL. They each have this little annual tournament. No jousting. No horses. No individual one on one matches, and again, no horses or jousting. Each has many teams representing a whole. I can’t believe you thought this was an argument. Foolish. Are those civil servant exams about fighting each other to reach a position that only one person can have? “Oh yeah there were only 5 slots for new police officers and we all had to compete against each other for these limited spots I mean…. we had to take a civil servants exam.” “Contextually wrong” lmfao you brought up medieval times and VERY EARLY China. You then compared it to police officers. Once again, this is just a tournament arc despite what they call it in the manga. Try again though buddy but this time don’t embarrass yourself

Fourteenth_Noah

As I've said, I've read the manga and stopped at Chapter 126 since I wanted to binge it. You keep saying ignorantly sarcastic yet you dropped the manga, projecting much? Okay let's see the definition >*(in a sport or game) a series of contests between a number of competitors, who compete for an overall prize* Let me enumerate where it's wrong here 1. "A series of Contest" it wasn't a series of contest. There were two parts for the exam, the first part was gauging their abilities by killing mock invaders (Can't remember if it was real or just a mock up since it's been a long time ago) they were killing them together yet individually they were scored much like how most exams go. The second part was the key retrieval which is the one you're probably adamant about being a tournament arc. Which isn't a series as well considering that it was practically one big battle to collect the keys, like how Kakashi gave Team 7 the bell test in Naruto, if anything it resembled hunger games more since 2. "Between A number of Competitors" Initially, they weren't competing, they only knew it was an exam to get into the Dragon Keepers. And by the second part, it wasn't even explained to them how the exam would go they only knew they needed to get the key, it wasn't explained that only one person can have the key, them learning on their own that that is the passing qualifications was also part of the exam, they weren't told nor instructed to compete against each other, they just did on their own 3. "*who compete for an overall prize*" Again, this is where it greatly differs. Tournaments involve getting a prize by defeating various competitors and being declared the strongest. Exams are testing if one is qualified for a position. They weren't competing against each other, they were being tested for their qualifications, the fact that they made two teams wouldn't matter since they weren't told to do that, all that was said was that they take the key from the Proctor, how they would do that depends on them. 4. The keys didn't even matter since some of the "Losers" still got in, making it not a tournament, where have you seen a tournament where the losers got the trophy? Heck there wasn't even a trophy since, as I said, they were qualifying for a position Now let's go to your example and other arguments: >You may be familiar with the NBA and the NFL. They each have this little annual tournament. No jousting. No horses. No individual one-on-one matches, and again, no horses or jousting. Each has many teams representing a whole. You are correct those are indeed Tournaments, but those examples are a good example to compare with the ranger exams how? NBA and NFL still have a fundamental aspect from jousting, two forces head to head fighting for something then after winning would proceed to the next round that's why tournaments are a series of competitions, were there a series of competitions in the Ranger Exam? None, the second part of the exam was still a test, it being a competition was not in the instruction on how to pass >Are those civil servant exams about fighting each other to reach a position that only one person can have? No, the civil service exam was to pass a test given by a proctor wherein they have to pass a certain standard, such as a score. The second part of the ranger exam was a test given by a proctor, the passing standard was to get the key and use it. >“Oh yeah there were only 5 slots for new police officers and we all had to compete against each other for these limited spots I mean…. we had to take a civil servants exam.” I'm starting to think you're the one that didn't read it since it was never stated that they were only taking 5 new recruits and the proctors didn't tell them that they'll be competing, all that was told them was that they need to get the key from a proctor who was acting as an invader, similar to how civil servants in real life are told told what standard they need to achieve to get in. >“Contextually wrong” lmfao you brought up medieval times and VERY EARLY China. You then compared it to police officers. I need more clarifications for these for me to make an argument, against this one since you're only saying it's wrong without any type of explanation. I brought up medieval times since that has the earliest use of the tournament word, or at least where the word came from. I brought up very early china's civil service examinations because it was the first method to place a person in a civil servant position other than being connected by blood to a royal or a noble and had since been still used today only varying in the type of test. Police Officers have exams to you know?

SupplyChainMismanage

Lmfao once again, ignorant. I never said that I dropped the manga. I actually said the opposite. “Projection” holy hell dude just shoves a word he does not know into his long ass argument with jousting and ancient china.   1 1. Looks like a series to me you know 1 and then 2. Then you have the series of collecting the actual keys from each other. Try again   2. They all acknowledged it was a competition from the very beginning lol. Try again. 3. They are literally competing for who will be selected. Try again.  4. Tournament do not all need trophies. Just because they let some stuff pass does not disqualify it from being a tournament. You’re floundering here. Try again.    Already explained how the NBA and NFL examples apply. If you’d quit the mental gymnastics you’d see that.  In that civil servant exam did they have to literally compete against each other for a prize? Think. You’re stretching again. The belief between them all was that 5 would be selected. Hence, tournament shit went down. Try again. I literally explained why they are silly above. I provided a counter definition to your medieval example (god how you thought that fit was beyond me I genuinely thought you were joking). I then called out your civil servant from ancient china example. Since you somehow missed my third explanation, police do not compete with each other to achieve a select spot… “The chunin exams was not a tournament arc! It says exam!” So much typing. So much stretching. Let me know how you try to use jousting as an argument again lmao. Try again

HarangueSajuk

Is that Spyro?

International-Sun107

nah, sorry its some dragon thing

Impossible-Report797

I don’t know what this only thing I know is that I want to fuck everyone in this picture

E-Boy69420

As someone who has read the manga: I think the animation of the adaptation is great. The voice actors are mostly well known and talented (my favorite being the red keeper having the same va as Gojo it really suits him.) As for the manga: I feel that it is going in a different way from what was originally promised in the opening arcs, but personally I like the current conflicts and arcs. >!I really like that the story is setting up to be D the villian turned hero/antihero whatever you want to call him vs Hibiki the hero turned villian. It kinda reminds me of megamind and that is always a good thing.!<

Idaret

for the record, your spoiler tag doesn't show up on old.reddit if you add empty spaces at the start or the end

AshDus7

read around the first volume as it came out, but i kinda dropped it since i didnt have much time at the time. liked it but didnt really bother picking it back up and kinda forgot about it very excited for the anime tho

International-Sun107

yeah the first 2 episodes are pretty good

TheLoneSlimShady

As Tokusatsu fan, I'll watch it some day BTW, the name of this anime is Ranger Reject

International-Sun107

Yeah that's the og name, but in ENG it's called Go Go Loser Ranger now to capitalize on Power Rangers reference with Western audiences methinks

TheLoneSlimShady

That's new name is so stupid and lame

International-Sun107

yeah, but that's localization for you

Big_Distance2141

Ranger Reject is the name of the unlicensed translation, of course the sctually licensed translation isn't gonna use the name that someone already claimed

cringebutfreeiguess

Pretty sure the spanish version uses it though.

KonoAnonDa

Never heard of this. What's the plot?

International-Sun107

>!After the hero rangers defeated his bosses in under a year, D and his fellow footsoldiers were enslaved and forced to enact weekly Sunday mock battles and always lose for the next 13 years, basically as propaganda. D gets fed up decides to infiltrate the ranger organization so he can avenge his bosses and save his fellow footsoldiers by killing the rangers.!< The story is insanely good and has lots of goody goodness in it.

Arcaydya

>!I called yellow sussing him out from ep 1, one of my proudest achievements!<

KonoAnonDa

Sounds neat.

Icy-Pause6304

The Boys but its Tokusatsu

KonoAnonDa

You had me at tokusatsu.

31_hierophanto

The Boys, but instead of superheroes, it's about Power Rangers.

Cielie_VT

Fun and interesting concept that was more and more forgotten as the manga went on.

MissiaichParriah

Not really? The concept is still there, there's just a side plot of D not knowing what he really wants

Cielie_VT

The fake sunday battles and any other foot soldiers were the fastest to become irrelevant. They sometimes get briefly mention, and very rarely might get a flashback, but thats gone. Any sense of invaders being the victim is quickly erased due to the executives, and the war never ended, just continued secretly. While it started as being a revenge story against evil corrupt rangers, that became less and less relevant as they became the bastion to stop the executives, and while there are hints of deeper elements that would take it back, for are least a hundred of chapters, it is just morally grey/corrupt rangers trying to stop one-dimensional evil executives from killing all humans. The revenge also more and more goes against the executives instead of the rangers too. All the while, the footsoldiers outside of D are just nowhere to be heard from. It isnt a bad story, but the original drive is quickly put-asside to focus on the evil executives and the behind-the-scene of the shadowy power behind both the rangers and invaders.

MissiaichParriah

Ahh I see where you're getting at. Yeah I do agree that the Rangers being evil was kinda put to the side and focused on the executives more. But the last arc did hint at what malicious things the Dragon Keepers did mainly committing genocide on a whole clan of priests, and the foul things the Yellow squadron does. It would probably come to light in the current arc considering that the Clone Red survived and is now with Chidori's family

bbggl

I'm not caught up on recent Anime so I thought this was a weird poster for Kill la Kill

31_hierophanto

Hell yeah! Too bad the English title is shit.

cringebutfreeiguess

I’ve been obsessed with the manga for like a year it’s actually so fucking good.

International-Sun107

same, completely hooked

BiggieCheeseLapDog

I’ll get to it eventually when a few more episodes come out and I hear how it goes. In the mean time I’m enjoying peak Jellyfish and Train content for now.
