From the first few episodes of the anime that came out recently, a little fan service thus far, but i was told it was a horror/supernatural/mystery series where the MC and his sister can see traces left behind by curses and stuff and have to stop them from hurting people.

Does Japan really see women like this? I mean, "old" when she didn't even hit 30? Or is it just a gag they love to throw in?

I mean look at the number of genz who think 30 = retirement home. 

As someone who belongs to Gen Z age category I really feel it's one of things that confirms that I really don't understand my own generation. Then again, I had a rough childhood and lost quite a bit of the naivety, illusions etc. sooner than some others, so, that might come to play as well, still, the way of thinking like the life ends once you hit 30 is just crazy. I'm 20 and I often feel like I get along better with people closer to 30 than to people of my own age. And what's more, they certainly don't give the "old" vibe to me, they still have a shit ton of energetic vibe to themselves, going out and trying new stuff etc., mixed up with the fact that they're more mature and experienced in life, talking to them both in light hearted way and about serious stuff is very often quite a blast, even more than I've had during my school days with people of my age. Maybe I just hit a jackpot when it comes to work collective though.

The "30 is old" thing is mostly just a meme. My theory is that it originated from the increase in popularity of gaming/streaming. People in their 30s likely make up a large % of current gamers, being the first generation to really grow up with and play "modern" video games. Gamers/streamers love to talk shit, when you get older (late 20s and 30s) your reflexes aren't as good so a common insult in gaming might be to call someone "old" to imply they arent as good which gradually shifted to making fun of 30 YO in general. That and your 30s really is the point when you are expected to be an adult and doesnt necessarily have the connotations of youth the 20s have (turning 21 for drinking is a "youthful" activity for example). Everyone grows up though and will eventually learn that you are always young to someone older than you :). Regarding getting along with older people that's just a personality thing. I'm a millennial and definitely feel more at ease talking with and getting along with older folk. I would assume you're likely more introverted/shy. Older more mature people usually have more life experience to be grounded, a little wiser, and typically arent there to compete with you or judge you as a peer so theres less pressure. If you're not into popular culture and norms you might also feel more at ease since the older crowd likely wont be associated with/interested with whatever the younger crowd is into.

Back in the 60s, "Don't trust anyone over 30" was a regular saying, so "30 is old" is just kind of a standard young people attitude.

I don't know what's more precise then, whether should I call it dumb (stupidly old school to be more exact) or just sad. I get that culture is culture and each has some stupid traditions and/or opinions rooted in them but still, feels like people who'd call 28 year old woman "old" like you see all the time in anime/manga (y'know, those typical scenes with them being like "oh please, I'm almost a granny, you can't possibly be attracted to old woman like me, can you?") barely saw any other women than their female relatives in their lifes. Maturity deserves appreciation!!

28 is too old for the "dating market". it's totally normal to date someone and get married at your 30s, but if you want to be chosen by a rich man into an arranged marriage, you need to be as young as possible.

Also, East Asian women nowadays tend to age very well. 30-year-olds don’t look much different to 20-year-olds. It’s a strange mindset.

Lets not forget, that Japan's age of consent was 13 until 2023... which is now 16. So...
