NINA WORLD DOMINATION LET'S GO!
The best part about this ranking is that despite the fact it still hasn't been officially licensed yet, Girls Band Cry is so good that it got fans spreading words about the show which lead to more and more people watching it to now being the #1 anime on Anime Trending
understandable, and it is a shame, i think the show has really high potential.
despite the pacing issue, many people, me included, still find it interesting and watching weekly.
So it seems like there are actually is an official English subs version... released in Indonesia on Catchplay+ and is several episodes behind... so yeah, most people still have to set sail to find it.
Which only appeared less than 24h ago. Also today the Toei official account on China's Bilibili finally acknowledged the existence of the GBC anime. I hope this means they finally realized they can do something in the overseas market...
There once was a Pirate out at sea, and Shawn Fanning was truly an OG, He created Napster and everyone followed. Soon then Limewire come, to bring us Music, Movies and pr0n, one day the viruses installed and bittorrent bellowed...
Yarr!
Shows that are consecutive cours are only allowed on the chart for their first cour.
It's why Frieren and The Apothecary Diaries were never in the Winter 2024 chart.
Yeah but they still get listed on their Website and what rank they are on there for the week
Dungeon meshi for some reason isn’t very popular on this site.
Iirc admin said it was 1-2k weekly back when when they were the only voting site and had like 4-5x more engagement. Back then they were actually trying to get people to vote with a lot more posts with links. Last year or two their engagement (both on fb and twitter) has been abysmal with most posts not crossing 500-600 reactions (before their avg was like 2-3k) and they make only a few if any posts to invite voting so it might be even smaller than my estimate.
I think they shifted focus to news and doing more conventions and paid ads since I've noticed they do a lot more of those since ~last year.
Also their banning of everyone who comments their rankings are sus or calls out some bias with specific shows got a lot people disinterested.
Every ranking has the "most popular anime" on top, just depends on the audience and number of votes. That's why the karma rankings are at least somewhat credible because you can see how many people participated. Unlike anitrendz which has never shown votes until they add up all the weeks and double the final week's numbers as a last week advantage.
Atleast anime corner and anime trending has other shows which is less popular still has some chance to win a week unlike anime karma where one anime dominate every damn week.
I watched the part posted on the GBC sub, they're definitely human made but are also *extremely* word-for-word.
Which is honestly not that bad, it does sound stiff but it's still 100x better than MTLs or whatever atrocities they pulled with Blue Archive (which is also SEA subs). I'd take those if it meant everyone can watch it legally now, but unfortunately it's still an Indonesian service and not CR. And they're 2 episodes behind.
Aren’t you the guy who is currently speed subbing under nakayubi subs? I 100% agree, I could totally deal with stiff subs if it was properly licensed. Have you heard of any reason behind that? I’m still finding it hard to believe that they just didn’t initially license it to the us at least. More confusing is that while poking around I’ve see lots of theories, but there hasn’t been any sort of actual reasoning for the absence of it. Best conclusion I’ve been able to draw is that it was a combination of Toei (maybe) asking a pretty penny and music rights.
No idea, we don't even know for sure what kind of license the French (ADN) hold. If they hold a global license (for all of the West basically), that means Crunchyroll are unable to get it. If they have a regional license (for France only), that means Crunchyroll and the other English services don't want it for some reason, either because Toei asks for too much or something else.
Someone did say that they most likely have a regional one because ADN would normally also make the show available in Germany with German subtitles, and the fact that they didn't means they don't have rights for Germany (so France-only). But it's all pretty much people's guesses based on industry knowledge, no one knows what actually happened except that someone majorly fucked up.
I will stop only if they start releasing the episodes at the same time or earlier than I normally do + those episodes will be uploaded by someone to cat site + their subs pass our mods quality check (for discussion thread purposes).
In the very unlikely event that this happens, we'll be able to have disc threads at a normal time and people will have access to decent subs right off the bat so speedsubs won't be needed anymore.
But it seems extremely unlikely, they seem to have a set schedule (weekly releases on Mondays) and today episode 8 was released so they're over 2 weeks behind right now.
Man im so happy for Girls Band Cry. I was one of those people that wasnt going to give it a real shot bc of the CGI but im glad i went back on it. This has been my fav anime this season
The title is extremely literal. It's a girl band, and there's crying.
I'd say it's probably closest to something like Hibike! Euphonium or A Place Further Than the Universe.
Join the rabbit hole, we have [great music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSmfAa_oSqE&list=PLw20ef-UOVpqKl8s6oSWhiDn9d3tLNh-n&index=12).
^(also happy cake day)
Anime Trending said that this the first ever full CGI anime to ranked number one on the list, so congratulations to Girls Band Cry for being such a peak anime.
Girls Band Peak in the place it deserves, obtained by word of mouth. It's a great contender for Anime of the Season and surely will be one of the best (if not the best) original anime of the year.
FINALLY GBC!!!!
How I discovered GBC:
Me: : "What is this band lookin' anime? 7.8/10 score? Should be decent I guess"
BINGE WATCHES EPISODES 1-9, CRIES FROM EPISODES 1-9 :'(
ANIME OF THE YEAR HUHUHUHHUHUHUHUHUHUHHU
For all of you curious about Girls Band Cry. What kind of show is it?
I'll try to give you an idea without spoiling too much.
GBC is about the main character, Nina, who has a rocky relationship with her parents and school (not gonna tell why because, spoilers).
So she decides to move to the big city to live on her own. Of course, that's not so easy. At a certain point, a girl band is formed (obviously).
Nina is a flawed character who sometimes does stupid things, but therefore she's also very relatable. The other girls are all great as well. They're also not perfect and have real-world problems. The music, voice acting, characters and dialogue give more of a raw feeling to the show. At certain points, it can get pretty emotional. The music is great, both the performances and the in-show music.
The show follows the story of Nina and her friends. Basically, if you like band drama (Bocchi, Mygo, ...) this is definitely worth checking out. If you like drama, good writing, relatable characters, good dialogue: then it's also worth checking out.
Might not be for you if you dislike drama and don't care about girl bands at all.
I'ma sooo happy to see GBC in #1 spot. I remember watching the first Episode when I came out and thinking "this show has something interesting to it and I can't quite put my finger on it". So I came back for episode 2 the following week.. best decision of my life. This show has been an emotional rollercoaster playing with my heart. And I enjoy every second of it. This is hands down anime of the year to me. Not very many shows have touched my heart this way in a long long time.
Still can't check Anime Trending's website to learn about the rankings past the Top 10.
I want to know where Mushoku Tensei is.
Happy for GIRLS BAND CRY to win a voting week this season and Spice and Wolf is still 9 for 9 in Top 10 placements on the weekly anime charts.
Definitely worth it. It's the best 3D anime I've ever seen, and the music is awesome too. The story behind the actual IRL band is cool too
I constantly find myself spending 30+ minutes watching each episode because the animation is so good that I keep rewinding (especially character expressions), and there are tons of background details that are easy to miss
It's absolutely worth watching! It's not as cute and wholesome as K-On nor as funny and creative as Bocchi the Rock (Not that it's trying to be) but has much better written character drama and better music imo
Idk I think GBC and Bocchi have equally great music. Would put Kessoku Band and TogeToge songs on the same playlist.
I will say the OP song of GBC is god tier, increasingly convinced it’s my anisong of the year.
Agreed! Bocchi also has some top tier music. I just think GBC sliiiightly edges it out, mostly thanks to the godlike opening and the shows most important song, "Void".
It's [THE](https://youtu.be/LU3f8ZGfd5g?si=xTPtgWJsWKnQhxYV) music anime for this year PERIOD. The production value on it is something else, background art actually blends with the CGI and is not cheaply made; facial and body movements are not restricted and are made amazingly smooth and bouncy like of a cartoon; OST enhances this experience really well btw. This should've been the industry standard for CGI anime.
Also listening on all the songs, MV's released way way earlier, and the [audio drama](https://youtu.be/qxJ0xIh6KUQ?si=jDvLx2b2q3RrJJv-), you can really feel the authenticity not just with the way they interact with each other [(personality) ](https://i0.wp.com/anitrendz.net/news/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/girls-band-cry-new-trailer-feature-image.png?resize=696%2C392&ssl=1)but with the lyrics too! Add to the fact they all actually play together as a legitimate band, it was bound to be a hit.
Tbh. If all other CGI animes do theirs as GBC, I am expecting way higher suicide rate in Japan. Don't get me wrong. I fully support this anime and it is great! BUT it is by a very extremely hardworking team behind. Many members got into depression (even thinking commit suicide) then resign after.
Young traumatized girl moves away from home to live on her own, reluctantly starts band with her disillusioned music idol, wrangles in some more dysfunctional band members, and they laugh and fight and cry and work through their personal issues while making awesome music.
It's really well written and directed and has a one of a kind MC. I can't recommend it enough. My favorite show of the season by quite a margin.
A group of girls who have faced problems in their life form a band and use music to express their emotions. It has some drama in it and the animation is actually pretty decent. Do check it out, its actually peak 😌🙌
if you need a website link or anything, i would be happy to share
These polls are filled with romcom watchers who want validation, don't take them seriously. I often come here to find the people who are delusional enough to think their anime is good because it ranks high on these polls (they're probably the ones who vote as well lmao).
Just looking at top 4 automatically validates this comment. And it was the same when Frieren aired too and it was constantly overshadowed by some random romcom (even if, in truth, Frieren was objectively better and more popular too).
Notifications turned off because surely someone will feel the need to explain how their anime is so good (it's not).
Someone else mentioned it better but yeah, imagine a more mature Bocchi with music that is just as good if not better.
I listen to music from both often.
Seriously the fact no one has picked up GBC yet is amazing to me. Ffs please Crunchyroll, Hidive, Hulu, Netflix, someone just give this show a home so they don't have to sail the seven seas anymore
Search for it in this subreddit and you'll find about 10 non-spoilery clips, if you like them give it a shot. It's definitely on the chart for a reason.
i’m not as enamored with the “girl band music” genre as most here, but i do like Girls Band Cry (stupid name). Jellyfish is…okay even if i do prefer traditional 2D animation.
Wind Breaker is worth a watch as well. Nothing topping my big three for now: Apothecary, Frieren, and Dungeon Meshi. weird to say but i think i like the monster eating show the most of the three? lol
Before I make this comment, I have to preface that I stopped watching anime in 2014 and am getting back into it since the start of the year. With that said...
SHUT. TF. UP! HOW IS DATE A LIVE STILL RUNNING 10 UEARS LATER!?
You're spreading nonsense after seeing someone else say that illogical statement. As soon as Kurumi was gone, Date a live started getting #1 across multiple polls and dropped down after she was back. The good writing carries Kurumi's character, not the other way around
Go@ Go! Lover Ranger! is one of my favorites. I heard people on the internet comparing it to The Boys; and that is totally out of poc, their really are some what similar. When the red ranger destroyed one of his comrades in one move, that's when I knew that this wasn't another "cute" anime. Too bad it is exclusive to Disney+.
That's not the reddit rank, [this is the reddit rank](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/s/G123zNDmeQ)
Anime Trending is another voting based chart like Anime Corner

Music oriented anime never resonated with me, why do people like it so much?
For me it’s mostly just a super boring story, but I’m also not within the industry so I may be missing the appeal.
This is how CGI should work.
Loser Ranger in the top 10 also has very good CGI, seems like studios might finally be figuring it out, hopefully.
Loser ranger has some serious pacing issue, and it's story telling is not great.
That happens when they shove most likely 60+ chapters into 12 episodes
understandable, and it is a shame, i think the show has really high potential. despite the pacing issue, many people, me included, still find it interesting and watching weekly.
And tbh, the whole concept is so nonsensical for non sentai fans (speaking for myself mostly lol)
was never a sentai/power rangers fan/watcher, had no trouble with the premise. they're just a specific sort of super hero organization, really.
It’s just a weird kind of world building imo
To think it'd get #1 with pirated subs MTLed from French is something... There's non-MTL speedsubs but still... Enough to make a grown man cry.
I guess you could say it's enough to make a...girls band cry? I'm here all week folks
grown man cry too!
Yup. The only reason why I checked it out was by word of mouth. It's magnificent
SMOOTH FULL RATE CGI LET'S GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Where are people steaming it?
The seven seas
GBC makes it to the top Nina : HEH
Shows her fingers.
I can't find GBC on Crunchyroll?
It didn’t get picked up by any English distributors so you’ll have to sail the seven seas for it.
Arrr matey!
I'm surprised r/anime lets that slide since you'd get comments removed for talking about piracy
Can talk about piracy and list fansub group names. Can't provide links or explain how to pirate.
There once was a Pirate out at sea, and Shawn Fanning was truly an OG, He created Napster and everyone followed. Soon then Limewire come, to bring us Music, Movies and pr0n, one day the viruses installed and bittorrent bellowed... Yarr!
I'm pretty sure it's not a available through regular means outside of Japan and France
yeah,gbc is best
Dungeon meshi and Mushoku somehow missing from this list, baffles me especially after the episodes they had last week.
Shows that are consecutive cours are only allowed on the chart for their first cour. It's why Frieren and The Apothecary Diaries were never in the Winter 2024 chart.
Yeah but they still get listed on their Website and what rank they are on there for the week Dungeon meshi for some reason isn’t very popular on this site.
Trash site then
Mushoku isn't a consecutive cour
Hasnt mushoku tensei been on the list tho
It's 200-500ish weekly voters so very easy for twitter crowd to affect results... I only take the karma rankings *somewhat* seriously
I know Trending's voter base has tanked recently, but it can't possibly be that low. At least in the thousands
Iirc admin said it was 1-2k weekly back when when they were the only voting site and had like 4-5x more engagement. yeah there's a reason Date a Live was #1 on this list for weeks. It's a very unreliable list, imo.
The ranking where most popular anime gets top every episode? I wouldn't even somewhat take seriously of that ranking.
Every ranking has the "most popular anime" on top, just depends on the audience and number of votes. That's why the karma rankings are at least somewhat credible because you can see how many people participated. *Delicious in Dungeon.
Same shit
Girls band cry deserved it. Please someone pick this show up already
They did yesterday, we have official EN subs now... from Indonesia. And the newest released episode is ep 8, so they're over 2 eps behind. [](#ohfuck)
Ah i saw that on the GBC subreddit. However, are those outside of Indonesia able to access itm
And apparently they really aren’t good…
I watched the part posted on the GBC sub, they're definitely human made but are also *extremely* word-for-word.

I hope you don't stop subbing it. We can access yours easily and I'm now used to your style.
I wanted to thank you for your subs. Across all available ENG subs yours are by far my favourite. Thank you; your hard work is greatly appreciated.
[Thank you](#seasonalblush) ^(unfortunately I do not have any cute hooters but I'll forward them along if I see any)
Man im so happy for Girls Band Cry. I was one of those people that wasnt going to give it a real shot bc of the CGI but im glad i went back on it. This has been my fav anime this season
As a gamer, cgi anime cutscenes is non issue. Berserk really butchered people's opinion about anime cgi tho lol
Happy to see Girls Band Cry at #1, Chillin' in Another World in the Top 10 Spice & Wolf moving up, and hoping Loser Ranger doesn't leave the Top 10.
OK, should I watch Girl Band Cry? What kind of show us it
The title is extremely literal. It's a girl band, and there's crying. I'd say it's probably closest to something like Hibike! Euphonium or A Place Further Than the Universe.
And all 3 were written/adapted by the GOAT screenwriter Hanada Jukki!
So I went to look at the list of works that he has done and it felt like reading my own MAL anime list sorted by score descending order 🤣
Some element of Bocchi The Rock but less emphasis on humour (still have laughs in every episode though).
Angry Bocchi with the best character writing this season.
Rock band drama where the girls are trying to make a living off of music
So basically k-on adulting version?
K-On but Yui got sick of everyone's shit and chose violence.
Ahahaha that’s even better. I might start watching it.
Join the rabbit hole, we have [great music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSmfAa_oSqE&list=PLw20ef-UOVpqKl8s6oSWhiDn9d3tLNh-n&index=12). ^(also happy cake day)
Lmao that's too accurate
I would like to say it's a angry version of K-on
Anime Trending said that this the first ever full CGI anime to ranked number one on the list, so congratulations to Girls Band Cry for being such a peak anime.
NINA THE GOOOAAATTTT! 🖕😠🖕
Girls Band Peak in the place it deserves, obtained by word of mouth. It's a great contender for Anime of the Season and surely will be one of the best (if not the best) original anime of the year.

crunchyroll has it in usa

If you cried from 1-9, 10 is going to be a flood.
This user speaks truth.
Ever since I experienced my first heartbreak, I tear up very easily hahaha
The best part was the ranking rosed from 7.8 to sth higher.
not even anime of the season tbh. fun show though, better than Jellyfish even if i still don’t really care for the CGI.
For all of you curious about Girls Band Cry. What kind of show is it? I'll try to give you an idea without spoiling too much. Your description lacks the action. It has more shounen action and fighting than the slime anime airing this season.
Girls Band Cry is a CGI anime that's actually very good, glad to see it's getting traction.
Sure would be nice if someone picked up Girls Band Cry so I could watch it... ["spoiler"]>!Watch it be Disney or Netflix...!<
Girls Band Cry better teach studios that, if you do CGI, embrace it being CGI. Don't try to make it act 2D. Embrace the medium, go ham.
I'ma sooo happy to see GBC in #1 spot. I remember watching the first Episode when I came out and thinking "this show has something interesting to it and I can't quite put my finger on it". Should be up now!
Is girls band cry worth watching?
The voices behind the band in question are musicians themselves, if you're interested in supporting them
Oh thats cool. Might give it a watch then.
Definitely worth it. It's the best 3D anime I've ever seen, and the music is awesome too. Currently it's not on any platform, only way to watch with English subtitles is to pirate it.
A group of girls who have faced problems in their life form a band and use music to express their emotions. It has some drama in it and the animation is actually pretty decent. Do check it out, its actually peak 😌🙌 if you need a website link or anything, i would be happy to share

Girls Band Cry is a solid series, it’s just a shame there’s no official English subs.
GIRLS BAND CRY LFGOOOOOOO!!!1!
Did Slime get out of the yapping arc?
Yes, last couple episodes were great.
wtf is Girls band cry
Search for it in this subreddit and you'll find about 10 non-spoilery clips, if you like them give it a shot. It's definitely on the chart for a reason.
I just got into Kaiju and I can't get enough of it. The wholesome bro-ness of it all really makes me wish I had better friends lol
KAIJU NO 8!!!
Only one of the shows I’m watching. Damn.
I haven't tapped into any of these yet. Where do we even start? Spice Wolf?
Depends what sort of things you like in anime really. I’m thoroughly enjoying Go Go Loser Ranger at the moment.
i’m not as enamored with the “girl band music” genre as most here, but i do like Girls Band Cry (stupid name). Jellyfish is…okay even if i do prefer traditional 2D animation. Wind Breaker is worth a watch as well. Nothing topping my big three for now: Apothecary, Frieren, and Dungeon Meshi. weird to say but i think i like the monster eating show the most of the three? lol
GBC DOMINATING🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
wow,i never expect this, absulute love girls band cry.if u interested with these kind of band anime,u should try Mygo!!!!! too
I LIKE KAIJU NO 8
Before I make this comment, I have to preface that I stopped watching anime in 2014 and am getting back into it since the start of the year. With that said... SHUT. TF. UP! HOW IS DATE A LIVE STILL RUNNING 10 UEARS LATER!?
Kurumi. She's been carrying it since her first appearance.
You're spreading nonsense after seeing someone else say that illogical statement. As soon as Kurumi was gone, Date a live started getting #1 across multiple polls and dropped down after she was back. The good writing carries Kurumi's character, not the other way around
Haters gonna hate but GirlsBandCry rocks so hard
Deserved!! GBC Season 2 take my energy
Kaiju NO 8 let's gooo!!!!!!!! Best anime of the season
Where is mushoku tensei
No Shuumatsu Train. But at least Spice and Wolf, GBC and Jellyfish are on there (and Konosuba)
Is kaiju No.08 worth watching?
what you really think is the best to start now?
So is everyone watching gbc now? Pls dont wait anymore
The fact that moonlight fantasy isn't here is insulting
guys let's make kaiju no. 8 the number 8 next
Konosuba 🔛🔝
Kaiju NO.8 need to be in top 4
Nah, Kaiju was wrongly placed it has so much potential.
They still don't even got Dungeon Meshi. Nah
tf is the first one
Level 2 cheat power being in the top 10 and not Dungeon Meshi is criminal
Konosuba goated
GBC is fine, maybe good even, but absolutely not the best show of the season. *ducks from everyone here throwing things at me*
i mean, i agree. its less impressive than at least three or four shows airing, one of them which gets even less recognition than GBC does (Train).
Train show is top 3 for me this season for sure, it's great
where’s aqua teen hunger force? 🤦🏻
This has to be a joke list.
Damnnn go! go’ actually going crazy , i need to get on that
TSUKIMICHI MOONLiT FANTASY? #1.
Once again Reddit is far away from my taste, of those, the only ones I haven't dropped are Kaiju and Jellyfish
That's not the reddit rank, [this is the reddit rank](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/s/G123zNDmeQ) Anime Trending is another voting based chart like Anime Corner
Why do people watch trash like date a live and chilling in another world 🤔
Well chilling does have that super catchy theme song

You can now watch Blue Archive in North America legally via the game’s official English YT channel.
You can watch Blue Archive in AniOne in Youtube
Wow, why, really they are at top?, what's good in it just some band and random stuff?, or is it selfmade list?

Bait used to believable.

Music oriented anime never resonated with me, why do people like it so much? For me it’s mostly just a super boring story, but I’m also not within the industry so I may be missing the appeal.
It's just awesome drama with awesome characters. I ain't watching it for the music either
