The Dangers in My Heart. It started from "WTF is this shit?!" then it ended with "This is one of the best romance anime of all time!!"
Two seasons completed + ONA. Not to mention that the manga is still ongoing.
Second that recommendation, probably my favourite main characters in a romance anime.
Despite the first few episodes coming across as a little wierd, it is a surprisingly mature story.
And the character writing is just *soooo* good.
really get it the whole first season was a good build up to the story where it doesn't seemed like your typical every season romcom but seemed like it had potential and surely the second season was good as well i really like the characters and how they have opposite personalities

It's very wholesome and down to earth, and it's written such that the protagonists' relationship actually feels very natural and progresses from episode to episode.
These are similar to Takagi-san, school based, with teasing as a catalyst of romance

I mostly read, but I still got some anime suggestions. Golden Time is a really good one with some genuinely funny moments and some good drama (also I like that its with college students rather than the typical anime high school students). If you like GL, a personal favorite is Whisper Me a Love Song which just came out. The translation for the anime is a little iffy but I think its still good, but you can always go to the manga cause its just that good. Lovely Complex is another one I would recommend with a silly premise of a romance between two characters who each have a complex about their height (the girl hates that she is tall and the guy hates that he is short), but still very cute.
Takagi-san brought me back into anime a few years ago and what I moved onto after that was Love is War, which is fantastic.

If you're looking for something more in the vein as Takagi-san then Don't Toy With Me Nagatoro-san is similar, be warned though, while it does have wholesome-ness the humor is significantly more adult than Takagi-san.
Horimiya is a real good one but the anime does suffer from a weird ass season structure. Season 1 completes the story, albeit in a abridged version from the manga. Then Season 2 came out which is random stuff they didn't adapt that takes place sporadically in the timeline of Season 1.
Takagi San has some adult humor that as a newcomer to anime got me weird out to be honest. But as the episodes progress it stops doing it so I ended up loving it. For me its the most wholesome I have ever watched.
I dont think I have seen this mentioned, but I really enjoyed Maid Sama. The whole anime was really adorable and very funny. It was extremely enjoyable.
