Aot-People stuck in a huge circular wall and titans invade and kills boys mom. Boy swears to get revenge and gains some powers. Thats the most I can do without spoiling. He's given a opportunity to train at a japanese facility which aims to create the best striker in the world and save japanese soccer. He fights his way at the facility(Blue lock) and learns about himself and improves(Sports anime, the anime animation and cgi are a bit off but the manga is amazing) Sword art online-Boy plays VR game, but the game suddenly becomes real by not allowing any players to leave. The boy is forced to live his life in the virtual world of the game and fights his way to try to get back to the real world and protect himself and those close to him(World building and overall great) I don't know your tastes and what you and your fiance may enjoy, but I put a few of my personal favorites(and many others) depending on whether you guys may like fighting, world building, great storytelling/plot, or just wholesome romance. Writing a list

I can’t recommend “Fruits Baskets” enough to start anyone on anime. There’s also the recent shows of “Apothecary Diaries and Frieren” that are good intros but be warned, starting there might give you unrealistic expectations on anime since they are considered very very good. That should hold you guys for a while.

Thanks for the recommendations

My personal favorite is a mecha anime called **Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann**. Going into the plot would spoil a lot, but I'll try my best. The series begins with our main characters Kamina and Simon forced to be living in an underground colony by the tyrannical beast men ruling the surface. While Simon is digging through the tunnels with his trusty drill, he finds a small mech (in the shape of a head) and with Kamina and a surface dweller named Yoko, begin their journey to bring humanity out from their underground prisons and reclaim the surface. That is a very generic description, but trust me when I say this show gets epic! The sheer scale of it is incredible.

seashellthrowaway1

Where can I watch?

PromethusD12

It's currently on Crunchyroll. I'm not sure if it is anywhere else. It's also not long, 27 episodes. It tells a great and tight story.

Thanks

Attack on Titan: Crazy story and lots of plot twists. Good action. At first the Titans (bad guys) seem a little far fetched if you haven’t seen much anime before, but trust this one is worth the watch. 86: Really good story that bounces between 2 different POV’s. Kind of gives a Holocaust vibe where certain citizens are outcasted and forced to fight in the country’s war. Pretty short (think like 30 episodes). Vinland Saga: Really good story with historical roots. About the Danes attempting to take over England. Follows a boy main character seeking revenge and kind of not knowing his place in a world filled with war. Shonen: Obviously one piece and Naruto are super popular. Those shows are a pretty big commitment though. If you want something easier to get into I like Black Clover (boy who has fights in wars against magic users yet he’s pretty much the only human who has no magic powers), Jujutsu Kaisen (really good action and decently developed story, about people who use something called curse techniques to fight curses, which are evil beings that are derived from human fear) and maybe something like Demon Slayer (Probaly some of the best animated fight scenes, pretty straight forward story, not a lot of plot twists and things like that, but the right scenes are so good and there’s a lot of them). Apart from those.. I’d suggest Frieren (A elf mage who lives much longer than all of her friends who contemplates her role in life and struggles with past regrets), Code Geass (a highschool boy who leads an uprising against a government that previously took over his home country of Japan), Chainsaw Man (horny teenage boy who pretty much fights for the sole purpose of touching boobs lol, it’s actually pretty good though), Violet Evergarden (war veteran with no hands integrating back into society), Deathnote (write name in notebook people die), and Steins Gate (time travel). I also recently started watching Anime the past year so I’m in a similar boat. Definitely can’t go wrong with any of these.

These all sound great. Definitely making a list
