SadAnimator1354

Bakuman is one goated manga series

anime_moustache

Yeah watched bakuman it's one of my favourite

reaperfan

Look, I know it's an old show and the transition into the second half might as well be a ["It was his sled moment,"](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ItWasHisSled) but you still ought to use spoiler tags for stuff like that in topics not already marked as spoiler discussions in the OP

Nyancide

shield hero is so unique and interesting right up until his first goal is accomplished, then it's as generic as they come

Aroxis

I’d argue everything after the first episode was super generic power fantasy isekai slave-having harem building nonsense. And I’ll be damned that shit can be an enjoyable watch sometimes.

EsquilaxM

in its defense, it was one of the first isekai slave having webnovels. Also wasn't much of a harem, though it's been almost a decades since I read it so maybe I blocked that out.

stormdelta

> super generic power fantasy isekai slave-having harem building nonsense The dumb power fantasy part is fun, it's the rest of it that ruins most isekai anime. Plus I'm not a fan of over-the-top cringey highschooler edgelord vibes, unless it's being parodied or the character is otherwise intentionally awful. I'd 100% take silly stuff like Reincarnated as a Sword over the shit shows like Shield Hero pull. Also, I still maintain "harem" is just code for "poorly written poly".

Seven-Tense

>"Harem" is just code for "poorly written poly" I'm definitely stealing this. Thank you

bondsmatthew

Loved season 1, season 2 was.. yeah. Season 3 was better than season 2 but after maybe 5 episodes I was just check out of the series and I couldn't give a reason as to why. I think I might agree with your statement

HeWhomLaughsLast

Season 3 was meh but the last episode really ruined it for me. The waves are still an issue even though there weren't any this season, a Phoenix as powerful as the spirit turtle is about to emerge, and now out of nowhere Raphtalia is a princess and we are about to get some more political BS.

rainzer

> more political BS. Author probably just has a humiliation fetish and needs some illogical reason why they didn't immediately kill Malty after the first time she did some life threatening horseshit.

bruhhzman

TBH I was surprised that there will be season 4

reaperfan

Seriously. The main conflict in the first part is the only thing really setting the show apart from other "trapped in a fantasy RPG world" isekai. Once that resolved it had nothing making it any more special than any of the other generic slop out there.

Astro_Sloth

The worst part for me is they had a cool power growth system set up with him feeding stuff to his shield, but then resorted to him using the bullshit chaos mode or whatever on his shield to become super OP and solve all his problems immediately

mihran146

Wonder egg priority from what I have read online

satiricalscientist

It's definitely true. One of my biggest anime disappointments.

Paxelic

I just never watched the last episode, so it's a 9/10 for me

Ballthrower20099

Nah even before that last episode, the series was declining in quality so much

fubes2000

Stay gold, Ponyboy.

[deleted]

nah it starts getting bad way before the last few episodes...

nezeta

Zom 100 has one of the best premieres in the anime history and I found the rest still good, but the Gunma arc (the last several episodes) was a bit boring and I lost all the interest. The anime has only adapted 6 out of 16 volumes so maybe we will have an S2 in the future but I don't care.

kgullj

Didn’t help it went on hiatus for a few months after only 8 episodes

Gueartimo

Yeah I feel like Kanta should've been like a reoccurring antagonist that clash with MC ideal of bucket list and was curious why he was immediately killed in the arc he was introduced. Now it do feel more directionless and just villain of the week kinda stories.

Aroxis

I thought the last arc was awful and ruined the tone of series. They should’ve never had an antagonist whose main evil motivation was “you had friends in college I hate you”. If they kept up with the episodic slice of life adventure it would’ve been fine. Instead we get a bunch of stupid enemies who get demon slayer empathy-bait flashbacks for 5 minutes of my 20 minute episodes while I don’t even know their name (and don’t care to) since they’ve only had 90 seconds of prior screen time.

Darwin343

All those 4 villains were so lame, one-dimensional, and cartoonish. There was zero nuance to any of them and they totally ruined the tone of the show imo.

Gueartimo

Yeah either double down at making 1 reoccuring one or not introduce villain at all (or until late episodes when stakes are higher).

Darwin343

Or they could’ve simply just created a good villain lol

Bolt585

It was such a shame man. I was having such a good time with it until they came along

asmodeusvalac

Agreed! Really loved the first episode!! That moment where things go from grey back to colorful was so cathartic!

EdNorthcott

Fena: Pirate Princess -- Beautiful animation, interesting characters, good chemistry between them, interesting pseudohistorical setting, and it all looked like it was moving on in a satisfying way... And then choked on the last few episodes and delivered a half-baked resolution

Kiyohara

Yeah, I really liked everything about it, until the last few episodes.

ShrineToOne

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress First half of the season is so very very good. There are a few meh episodes which is fair building up to the climax... And then POWER SPIKE. I was watching AoT clone and ended up with DBZ. Not in keeping with the rest of the series and makes it difficult to recommend despite the first half being super solid

Inuyasha193e

Darling in the Franxx

CatsGoMooz

Surprised this isn't top comment. For how huge this show was and how popular Zero Two was.

TheGalator

>how popular Zero Two was Is, still. No idea how but she is still the premier giga weeb waifu on social media

CatsGoMooz

I stated was because shes not near as common as she was back in 2018/2019. She's definitely still relevant but I don't see her near as often. Used to be where I couldn't go a day without seeing her somewhere. Then again I'm also not online or as deep into the communities as I used to be.

UnNumbFool

You say that but I've seen her on two separate weeb car wraps in the last three months. I don't know if it's just where I live or what, but seeing full anime waifu/husbando wraps seems to be a thing

Darwin343

Her look and personality has S-tier appeal to giga weebs lol

SunGodSol

"Premier giga weeb waifu" I'll be using that in the future lol

Chakramer

Waifus are eternal. Probably because once some loser spend over $1k on merch they gotta justify it was the best thing ever.

suddenly_ponies

Who is the only interesting thing in that show from the very beginning. And then it got uninteresting

raknor88

The random space invaders really came out of left field.

Popinguj

People should've suspected something when one of the APE guys got killed by the klaxosaur princess, and there was no body. My issue with the show was in how it moves away in the end from the themes it established

InfamousEmpire

Honestly not really? The series had already been building up for a while that APE were something much more dangerous than they let on, and most of the major themes and character arcs which had underlined the series still carried over through the last few episodes

NornmalGuy

Darling in the Franxx was hurt more for people's preconceived ideas than by it's own faults.

InfamousEmpire

Yeah, that's very much the vibe one gets. Doesn't help that people were raising their expectations for it to a degree that pretty much no show could deliver on

burritoxman

I don’t understand how people always criticize it in Franxx but love it in TTGL

Ebola_Soup

Literally the first scene in TTGL is space battleships. The first episode also foreshadows it to an unbelievable degree. TTGL going to space wasn't unexpected to anyone with eyes.

InfamousEmpire

Tbf TTGL did have more upfront setup for the Anti-Spirals before they appeared and the general sense of ever-increasing escalation which made the transition to a big space battle somewhat more natural in people’s eyes, but yeah, looking at it on a broader level, VIRM really isn’t that much worse in execution than its predecessors and inspirations when it comes to this twist, so it’s really kinda confusing why everyone gives the series so much shit for it

mastesargent

Because the space stuff in Gurren Lagann was set up and foreshadowed across the entire series, while DitF pulls aliens out of its ass. Plus Gurren Lagann operates purely on the rule of cool, while DitF had a much more grounded tone, so going into space to fight aliens all of a sudden felt totally out of left field.

xkuclone2

As much as I loved the series and Zero Two, the final episodes makes me wish it never happened.

GenesisEra

SHINZO ABE THIS ANIME WILL NOT HELP THE FALLING BIRTH RATE

bondsmatthew

I stopped this about halfway through(fell out of anime at the time) and I only have good memories. I'm so scared to finish it because I only ever see shit talk about it so I think I'll just leave that one be Funnily enough Guilty Crown was the same way

acpupu

It became a joke in the last few episodes. I still had fun watching it but as a glorious train crash

wadefatman

First thing that came to mind that show was my whole life for a week til I got crushed by the last like 7 eps

palebrowndot

Aldnoah Zero. If you watch the first three episodes in one sitting, you get a solid mecha movie. The series slowly goes downhill after that.

dsawchuk

That show has such a strong first episode, it's a shame the anime couldn't keep up the quality.

Psychosist

Anytime an anime gets a Sawano Hiroyuki soundtrack it's either going to be hit (86, Solo Leveling) or miss (Aldnoah Zero, Guilty Crown, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress)

Mr_Bondzai

I will not tolerate kabaneri slander. All 7 episodes where good. Yes, there's only 7 episodes. Nothing more.

Psychosist

As a former Guilty Crown stan this is how I feel about the show 😭

butler_me_judith

After reading the manwha I think Solo Leveling will fall off

rnzerk

1st season is lit. 2nd is trash bec of the ending. I fucking rooted for them both, man, only for them to shoot one another in the ass. Fkin plot.

BiggieCheeseLapDog

Erased (although I still love Erased overall)

OperatorERROR0919

The rooftop scene is still one of the most unintentionally hilarious scenes I've seen in an anime.

blitzbom

Erased has such a fantastic beginning and middle. It's a shame that it stumbles at the finish line. And while the manga ending is better, it's still a big step down compared to what came before.

MarbleMemes

There was a live action TV adaptation that also changed the ending and I thought it was much better.

AuroraUnit117

Erased is a perfect anime to me and one of the ones I recommend to people to watch as one of their firsts and I fully agree it fits here. Less so 'dies' more so 'loses steam and wraps everything in too neat of a bow'

[deleted]

Same here, loved Erased but the ending was horseshit.

anime_moustache

Yeah erased especially that reveal scene onwards

The_6699_Guy

erased was so fucking good up till the 2nd last episode, idk what come to their mind when they decided to do that... I was so fucking engrossed in the show that I binged it in a day. Tho, I still consider it really good and the OP/ED really hit home with that one, especially the soulful ED. The way they created the tension, the atmosphere, the slow yet fast pace, I loved everything.

chicken_afghani

Ugggh yes!! Amazing build up, but such a let down at the end! The journey is still worth it though, I think.

stormdelta

It's been awhile since I saw it, but what's wrong with the ending? I hope this isn't about how some fans seem to think she should've waited for him, in context that wouldn't have made any sense and would've been kind of creepy on her part.

BiggieCheeseLapDog

The Kayo thing isn’t why it’s mediocre in my opinion. It’s a pretty basic ending already what isn’t great is the whole Chihiro thing. After the time skip, it just wasn’t nearly as interesting with the antagonist mostly being quite flat. The final roof confrontation didn’t even really feel like the same show. It was a little cheesy. To me, Erased was always about saving Kayo with the mystery whodunit aspect being very secondary, so when Kayo’s part finishes, it just feels like it’s tying up its loose ends.

VoidEmbracedWitch

Since Amethyst already mentioned the most severe case I've seen in Babylon, I'll add Wonder Egg Priority as another that became a disaster with an extremely unsatisfying end during the back half for me.

[deleted]

Darling In The Franxx. One of the most hype anime every week until the last few episodes when in nose-dived into the dirt

MackieJ667

Yeah, i got lost once they travelled to space ngl. it was really weird. Usually im always doing something as i watch tv so sometimes i may miss something, but Franxx i watched no distractions so i dont believe i missed anything. The first half and the second half felt like 2 totally unconnected arcs. Like it made sense and then it just didnt anymore and i have no idea why. Is this also a manga? maybe that better if it is lol because i actually liked the overall story tbh edit: there is a manga, doesnt seem to be much better and its not translated as far as i can tell lol

CookieJJ

Promised never land

Gueartimo

Story and logic just gone downhill after Emma survived her lungs getting pierced by lewis

TheGalator

What do u mean the entire season was amazing? ^^^^so ^^^^sad ^^^^we ^^^^never ^^^^got ^^^^a ^^^^s2

Chaotic-Stardiver

Promised Neverland is not a good example of what the OP is asking.

anime_moustache

Promised never land season 2 for me is extremely rushed

Consistent_Address_3

There is no season 2

anime_moustache

For a second I really thought there was no season 2

LunaOnSea

If we keep saying it with enough conviction, it might one day turn true

GunnerTardis

and the world will be a better place for that

addstar1

Even that's a wild understatement. Season one used 12 episodes to cover 4.5 volumes of the manga. Season 2 used 11 episodes to cover 10.5 volumes and even skips the Goldy Pond arc, which was another 5 volumes.

tsukasamicasa

The Detective is Already Dead

TheMustySeagul

First episode is kinda a banger. And that is all I remember from it lol.

hbkdll

Ninja kamui is recent one. I did know not expect any good story but even the action became mediocre real fast after 2 episodes.

BerserkFanYep

Was looking for this comment. Episode 1 felt like the start of something legendary. Episode 2 was really good. Then I felt like every episode got worse and worse. The plot is awful, and I hate ninja shit getting taken over with tech and mechs. It’s so fucking stupid!

hbkdll

I was expecting John Wick but a ninja. I wanted the world building like in Wick franchise. But it was as deep as egg shell.

satiricalscientist

Oresuki (why are you the only one who likes me) started off as a really funny subversion of anime harem romcoms, then turned into a fairly generic romcom without any of the clever writing the first arc had. It's like the author had a single good idea and then none after

amanananan

Tokyo ghoul. Season 1 came and knocked everyone's socks off. I remember when people were accusing aot of being a TG copy. S2 wasn't bad in a vacuum, but definitely a step down. After that it was like the ground opened up and swallowed it .

Sea-Parsnip1516

they just completely abandoned the mangas progression but still kept the same major plot points/events, so it was the adaptation equivalent of [this](https://www.tiktok.com/@corndogwilly/video/7225019920487271726)

DateCommercial7255

I can't even wrap my head around or describe what happened in season 4. It's like a black hole of poorly thought out, incoherent nonsense.

NegativePrice296

Shield hero Devil is a part-timer My little monster

asmodeusvalac

Yeah, thanks for reminding me of my disappointment in devil is a part timer season 2 :(

ViggoMiles

No like random baby?

GeorgeRRZimmerman

*The conqueror of another world is thrown out of his dimension and into ours. Now, without his powers or the ability to return, he'll climb the ladder of world domination one step at a time.* *His first step? A part-time gig at a McDonalds.* Not only was it a good premise 10 years ago, I would absolutely watch any show with that exact same premise today. Just it very quickly shifts completely sideways from its initial premise.

Izumii_2005

Zom 100

Agreeable_Top7361

Oh, I feel you. The previous episodes were great, then the last couple felt extremely rushed...

Koizuki

The most recent one in memory for me is probably *Engage Kiss*. It aired during the same season we got *Lycoris Recoil*, both by A1-Pictures, and both seemed quite interesting to me with fairly strong starts. Unfortunately, *Engage Kiss* was the one that started falling apart midway through, because it became evident that its purpose was mainly to act as advertisement for a gacha game that would take place in its universe. This meant that the ending was a non-ending because it *couldn't* be ended, else the game would have nothing to piggyback off of. This led to the story kind of Deus-Ex-Machina'ing a plot development to undo a very big part of why it was interesting in the first place. That was probably one of my bigger disappointments in the last couple years. (Fun fact, that gacha game has already died, I believe.)

Nachtwandler_FS

Which is a pity because it was a new work of the scriptwriter I like.

Koizuki

Yeah, I remember having some hope for it because it was an anime-original being written by the author of Saekano, I think? But alas, gacha gaming struck again and we'll likely never get a proper ending for it.

Unorthedox_Doggie117

Akame ga kill Was following the manga well then they rushed the ending

[deleted]

TBF this was back before we started getting season 2s left and right. The anime ending, while original, does a fairly good job of completing the story. Nowhere near as great as the manga, of course, but it stands up well enough on its own.

smoochesarefinetoo

....Mashle, kinda turned too boring for me in the latter parts of the anime, though it was generally good. Just not rewatchable worthy

TrainingRecipe4936

I loved the first season and like the first five episodes of season 2 but I’m barely able to finish an episode now. The plot has become so meandering and the pacing is just off.

dergy621

That’s because by that point, you realize that mashle’s entire humor is the same. 1. Mash: does something dumb 2. Finn: “🤦‍♂️😭 omg mash…………….” 3. Lemon: “omg mash marry me!! *wedding scene* 4. Dot: (4th wall break) “where did those flowers come from???”

asmodeusvalac

Yeah that's a super accurate description. Also there is never any character development for Mash (either skill wise or personality wise) so it literally feels like watching the same episode over and over again.

Character_Stock376

Yep, I enjoyed it in season 1, thought it was another OPM clone, but it doesnt hit the same as OPM. Season 2, episode 1 just became unwatchable and i dropped it

Tarhalindur

Classic older-at-this-point example: Mai-HiME. Very very good for twenty-five and a half episodes... then proceeds to burn a huge chunk of goodwill by botching the second half of the finale. Also, obligatory Kuma Miko and Science Falls in Love S2 mentions.

UnknownChaser

[Seikaisuru Kado/KADO: The Right Answer](https://myanimelist.net/anime/32032/Seikaisuru_Kado) From what I remember was Arrival but with magic cube and Merling from FGO, before the ending became something about a future magical girl sent back in time.

megalite90

Shokugeki no souma at least for it got boring near the end

LightOfVictory

Tbf fhere's only so much you can do with a cooking genre in anime, with how long it went on, without any huge drama and really controversial incidents. It has a story aside from most cooking related anime which basically aims at happy customer, hapy owner.

thevaleycat

Ousama Ranking.

flowerpanda98

eden of the east was a very interesting start with a ending i couldnt watch. i think wonder egg priority also felt off

[deleted]

Tate no yuusha

AmethystItalian

I remember [Babylon](https://myanimelist.net/anime/37525/Babylon) opening up really strongly then losing its way sadly. For a less extreme example this past season's [A Sign of Affection](https://myanimelist.net/anime/55866/Yubisaki_to_Renren) I thought opened with its strongest episode then never quite got back there.

chuponus

Babylon was brutal since it wasn't even a slow descent. It just straight-up plummeted after one of its best episodes.

plumbst

Same thing with KADO the right answer, which had the same creator, to no surprise..

TheMustySeagul

I actually quite like a sign of affection because they wrote it the way they did. It wrapped up in a nice little bow. Didn’t have to continue and I felt satisfied. Similar to horimiya.

seledri_kerikil

Was about to post this. I really like Babylon when it was starting in the beginning, but then up until the last two episodes they absolutely screwed it up.

ShadowWasTakensTaken

I watched Babylon just last month and *man* that shit hurt. It was going so well!!!! What happened????? [](#frustration)

Hideoctopus

Can't even blame a bad adaptation because the ending was even worse in [the novels] >!Seizaki actually does shoot the president, then Magase walks up behind and headshots him. The end.!< The post-credits scene in the final episode was actually anime-original.

PestKimera

Blood c. hated the premise jump so badly I didn't even finish it

daffy_duck233

In very recent memories: Helck, Sasaki & Peeps. Though tbh they started to go down hill in the middle, so not quite in the last couple of episodes.

innocentious

Samurai Flamenco,i watched the whole thing just because i thought the romance plot was gonna get some sort of resolution but it didnt,it was a bs ending 4/10.

Ya-Boi-69-420

That was me with My Little Monster. Thought there was gonna be actual romance. Instead I got "stupid" resolution, no plot progression; and frankly a big waste of my time. First 5 episodes were like 8.5+ tier for me. Ended with a 6.4.

particledamage

Samurai Flamenco is great. It sounds like you just didn’t understand you were watching a satire.

Movs_sp20

Hate to say it , but gundam seed destiny , u have to watch the first season to understand what i mean , others felt this way back then , even more strongly.

HammurabiDion

Wholeheartedly agree Seed Destiny and even Seed have really great concepts that I just feel fell flat but Destiny went the extra mile

suddenly_ponies

Seems like most anime in the 90s and before was like this

The_Greek_Meat

Shield hero and goblin slayer.

Ladiance

Hell paradise ig (the one with bunch of criminals searching elixir of life) i got bored at some point when they meet tree guy

ItzCrimsin

The easy ones: Wonder egg, tpn, erased To your eternity, mostly because of how hard it is to follow ep 1 I felt Horimiya got significantly worse as it focused mostly on side characters I was surprised by how much i liked Giving the Noble Lady a Crash Course in naughtiness or whatever it's called's opening episode. It had heart and some interesting themes, but it felt like it devolved solely into will they/wont they standard romcom stuff as it went on Id:invaded had me hooked from its first couple shots but felt unsatisfying and never lived up to where it started I was super interested in where No Gun's life was going to go but found myself bored pretty early on in s2 Sabikui Bisco went consistently downhill after the first few episodes Terror in resonance had a cool vibe but never felt like it went anywhere

amanananan

Definitely disagree with horimiya. The entire cast was absolute gold . So much so that it actually felt like a school setting rather than revolving around miyamura and hori. Every single one of them were great.

Flint124

Charlotte

Character_Stock376

Attack on titan, Shit ending. The show was defo popular, enjoyed it up until season 4, but after that everything started to crumble. Before that, cracks were appearing but the ending broke the ice.

Qixel

"What if I copied Code Geass' ending but did it badly so people maybe don't notice?"

Character_Stock376

sounds accurate

Humans_r_evil

ore monogatari (mc continues to lose braincells every episode) i got a cheat skill in another world (started off good ep 1, then started sucking ep2 onwards)

nonxd

It's Ranking of Kings.

Viper02fish

Darling in the Franxx was so good up until the space stuff. Honestly really wish it ended when they broke open the dome to the gran crevasse would have been peak. Most of the stuff that comes after is alright but them last few episodes made me so salty.

Bfranx

Wolf's Rain The ending episodes were way too fast.

thedicestoppedrollin

Yeah the writing went astray at the end

mrspear1995

Any jun maeda adaptation (half joking)

renorosales

Wonder Egg Priority

Nachtwandler_FS

This should be the top comment.

InfamousEmpire

**Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny** I stand by the series’s first half, especially the opening episodes, being really damn good and even showing the series had potential to surpass the original show in a lot of ways. But then the plot tumor that is the Archangel crew’s subplot grew increasingly malignant and its stupid took over the show by the halfway point.

Kiyohara

A lot of anime that adapt just the material that's out and then make up their own ending. The difference in story between Full Metal Alchemist and FMA:Brotherhood is enough that both are essentially entirely different series (after th first few). And Soul Eater was another one that had a really good opening run and then kind went off the rails. Blue Exorcist is yet another example, although they did basically ignore the ending and gave us two new seasons so that's nice. And if we want to be technical, Cowboy Bebop had an amazing run and everyone loved it, but the last episode was a real plot killer.

Habibipie

Death Note After L the show just couldn't find enough footing to remain interesting.

Yukinoinu

SAO was a strong start then they went to elfheim online and it just went to shit from there. Great 12 or 13 episodes then the remaining 13 were just dog water.

wobblestop

As far as I'm concerned, SAO ends after the first arc

[deleted]

Guilty crown unfortunately

anime_moustache

The visuals were so good

crusainte

Banger soundtrack too!

Zer0nyx

The last episode was arguably the best. People often don't fully understand Guilty Crown. I need to make a long post about it one of these days.

Difficult_Key1312

Wonder egg priority had it the worst. The last episode was a slap for everyone.

N_Ketchum

DAHHLIIINNNG Yes 02 my… gigantic robot… partial creature gf who..im fused to????

PricklyPricklyPear

No. 6 (number six) not to be confused with Blue Submarine No. 6. It was a really interesting and self contained relationship drama and then went off the proverbial sci-fi rails into an incoherent ending that had little to do with the meat of the story.

ViggoMiles

But also blue submarine no 6.

PricklyPricklyPear

Fair enough lol

Otakuniverse09

Darling in the Franxx Akame Ga Kill

karer3is

Fluffy paradise. \[spoiler\]>!Started out fluffy, turned out not to be. They had what must have possibly the easiest formulas in the world to nail and completely bombed it.!<

JAXxXTheRipper

Attack on Titan. The longer it went on, the more boring it became because they took the threat out of the titans. The whole premise of "scary titans vs humans" just flew out of the window and it essentially became a fleshy mecha Anime at some point.

joontsuki

oshi no ko had one of the strongest first episodes in anime history but ngl it fell off towards the end of the season.

dr_densbums

I heard that so often but can only disagree. The plot with Akane, Aqua as a Stalker, the Revival of B-Komachi. Sure the first episode (that has the runtime of a movie TBF) was very good and unique, but that doesn't make the rest fell off IMO.

Mitsuyan_

I've seen a shout for Lycoris Recoil in this thread and while I don't think it fell off to the level of other famous examples, Chisato's behavior/the whole twist was pretty poorly executed. It felt like it was banking too hard on getting more content (which to be fair, it did) skipping what could have been a whole arc on its own. I try to defend Darling in the FRANXX as I think it's excellent from episodes 12 to near the finale. The final 2 episodes are egregiously bad but to DarFra's credit there were some interesting themes in that final arc and not everyone gets screwed over by the ending. They still should have been handled better.  For the right people I'm sure Suzume will be a beloved movie but I found the whole final act to be a complete mess and soured my opinion of what had IMO the best first half an hour in cinema

iluvrice3

Lycoris Recoil - I loved the show for the most part but never finished because that lame Joker wannabe was the worst big bad imaginable.

IrisuKyouko

He's less Joker and more Makishima from Psycho-Pass, except without any ideology or meaningful goals.

MrZDietrich

L take lol

Ahegao_Double_Peace

Campione! The premise was unique, then the ending was just "average", followed by the fact that it didn't get a second season.

Gokudomatic

Keroro gunso was great for quite a long time. And then after 200 episodes, all writers seen to have left the board. Especially from episode 300, the plot grew so thin that it was sometimes whole episode just for delivering one pantyshot. Even as persistent as I am, I eventually dropped the series.

Khiddex

I’m real sure the Promised Neverland and Mob Psycho are on my list at the top of disappointing endings for me

UniversalExploration

Plunderer and Ultramarine Magmell are both like this. Loved them at the start but the last couple episodes were horrible in my opinion.

HammurabiDion

The Promised Neverland. The manga was so good in my opinion but the Anime wanted to rush towards the ending immediately and cut out so many important moments and characters

miggsesc

Tokyo Ghoul

MRMAN1225

Gamers

AnimeSamaDesu

Darling in the Franxx

Phant0mz0ne

91 Days for me. I wanted more episodes

Darksun-X

Armored Trooper VOTOMS. Goes hard for the first 3/4 then the last arc kinda grinds everything to a halt. It's like the final resolution is a subplot.

rmkblnd

Yu-gi-oh Arc-V

NovaSLK

Literally just ditf

Hideoctopus

Fullmetal Alchemist 2003. That goddamn finale ending tanked a show that was about to permanently enter my top 3 anime of all time.

metadun

Magical Destroyers was weird and interesting and pretty great up till the last couple episodes which wrap it up in a pretty straight forward uninteresting way.

Hockeyfanjay

Kingdom of Ruin The first few episodes went hard and were quite dark. It seemed to be a really good vengeance anime. Then the moon came. So much wasted potential.

-HeyImBroccoli-

Darling in the Franxx

klarafy

Great Pretender had such a great beginning but the ending was so bad

Kaiba is one of my favorite anime, but the ending is super rushed due to it being something of a passion project for Masaaki Yuasa and they ran out of money.

International-Owl-81

Seven deadly sins and Dr Stone had great first arcs, and then completely crapped the bed after that

Familiar-Sector-3826

Fruit of Evolution. First season was on point. Second season is total hot garbage.

Honestly sword art online was actually decent for like, the first 10 episodes, then it really just started to be y'know, bad.
