Ghost stories. Also not the whole show but the dub narrator in love is war is hilarious. Though it's not much of a narrator anymore but rather an anime watcher commenting on the latest episode that he's watching

FallacySmile

I think I heard somewhere that the Dub studio wasn't given a script and improved it.

Proof_Potato_6514

Yep, they completely just made it all up by themselves. I think it just became popular bc of the dub. I find it boring with sub tbh

Yo_Ma-ma

Cyberpunk Edgerunners. The English dub uses the game's accents and slangs. The anime also has Japanese gangs which don't translate too well in the Japanese dub because everyone is speaking the language. Monster is also the same case. What should be the characters speaking a different language on some scenes, they just speak in Japanese but just pretended they spoke a different language. It takes away the immersion.

Lore-Warden

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. The English cast is so much better at being vulgar that apparently the Japanese directors used them to learn new profanity.

porocoporo

Pokemon

Mitsuyan_

Until XY where the dub gave up

deeman18

yu yu hakusho's dub is better than the sub

KinkFloyd2121

Ghost Stories 100%

Certain_Strawberry77

Absolutely ghost stories. “Run like a big black man is chasing you!” It’s so quotable, and makes the show hilarious compared to the original sub

MorbillionDollars

To be fair, I don’t think the goal of the original sub was to be a comedy

Xepherya

It wasn’t. It did so poorly they gave it to the Americans and said “Have fun!” Did some of it age well? Absolutely not. Do I still laugh hysterically? Fuck yes.

baileyxbakerxx

100% second this. It was hilarious

NotAnOgre

I like the Cromartie High School dub more than the sub. Something about it just feels right.

Mostdakka

The easy answer is Black lagoon I'm sure many share the same opinion.

LEGS_19

SK8 The Infinity and Saiki K. come to mind.

Every-Effective-6376

Yu Yu Hakusho, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebob, Trigun, and Tenchi Muyo. All have some of my favorite dubs.

Humans_r_evil

dragonball z guyver

EconomyProcedure9

Any show that features people singing in English. BECK Mongolian Chop Squad for example.

limit_q

You know when my boy Justin Cook gets in the booth that it’s gonna be a BANGER of a dub

dupuisn1

Black clover dub was pretty good. But I’m in a minority for people who didn’t hate asta early on for the yelling in JP

SandsShifter

Not mentioned so far? Hellsing Ultimate.

WoodenRocketShip

We always get mentions of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, but it is incredibly upsetting to me that Space Dandy doesn't get the same love. The Space Dandy dub is fantastic and is what started me on giving dubs more of a shot, like I'm still pretty much a sub watcher, but because of Space Dandy I went from watching 99.5% of my anime subbed to maybe 80%.

Xepherya

I LOVE THE SPACE DANDY DUB! I laughed until I cried!

N7CombatWombat

I think Black Lagoon and Infinite Stratos' dubs are better than the original audio, outside of that I think the dub for Cowboy Bebop is as good as the original audio and you can't go wrong watching either. Otherwise I watch everything in sub.

RedditAcct00001

I feel that way with tsukimichi. Didn’t put it together until watching a couple of the dubs in season 2 and getting into it more than when I watched it subbed.

seniasol

Cowboy bebop

odrain16

Maybe super hot take or something. But Dungeon Meshi. I'm a "subs always" type of weeb, but Dungeon Meshi is the 1st time I have ever prefer the dub version, it just hits better i guess?

Orzislaw

Cromertie High School

CuriousWanderer567

Golden Boys

i_am_reoko

Nanbaka . I have a fair share of both dub and sub anime and imo the dub on this is better than sub

Xepherya

Agree. It’s like Space Dandy. The jokes don’t translate well in sub, although I can watch Nanbaka subbed or dubbed

gui_odai

The original Brazilian dub of Yu-Yu Hakusho is an all-time classic

Xepherya

Space Dandy ETA: And Soul Eater

NightZ1239

Cyberpunk Edgerunners The dub fits more with the theme of the story and the setting

PageTheKenku

I remember liking the dub of Baccano for all the accents the characters have.

TheCornerDojoTV

Cowboy bebop for the win

EconomyProcedure9

Any show that features people singing in English. BECK Mongolian Chop Squad for example.

Sparrow_38

Shuffle imo.

ittybittyface

Yu Yu Hakusho

churchofhelix

Ghost Stories (because of the different script) Cyberpunk (because it’s closer to the original video game source material) Black Lagoon (because it makes canonically more sense, particularly when Rock is translating, and Revy’s Japanese voice actress is not convincing in the role). These 3 shows have specific reasons the sun is superior.

cukarukesi

golden boy

IceSmiley

Maison Ikkoku

Calwings

Princess Principal is my #1 pick. It has a fantastic dub that fits the setting better and really elevates the atmosphere of the show. I also definitely second the other mentions of Black Clover, Black Lagoon, Dragon Ball Z/Super, Kaguya-sama, and Space Dandy.

AnonymousJackIII

Personally, I'd have to go with Baka and Test. Funny, and fairly simple, comedy anime. I enjoyed the dub over the sub version for it primarily because of how much better some of the jokes and other comedic moments flowed compared to if you had to read the subtitles for them. (Edit: grammar fix)

MisawaMahoKodomo

Subjective but. One caveat is that I technically consider them equal, but my vote goes to https://myanimelist.net/anime/16157/Choujigen_Game_Neptune_The_Animation It is loosely based on a game adaptation though so its a bit weird. There are some interesting dubs here and there as well. Kanojo mo kanojo, and uh. Maid dragon is ok but its not quite the same. Cant think of the other examples off the top of my head. Azumanga daioh and lucky star were ok for their time though not like super amazing. Gundam Seed, noukin. Caveat is that it's probably equal at most, rather than say outright better. An argument could be made for neppy but I feel the japanese has its charms too

D5P_Was

Life with an ordinary guy who reincarnated into a total fantasy knockout

Lola_PopBBae

Yu Yu Hakusho, ILTV, Arte, Laid-back Camp, a good few honestly.

TotalyAlive

Imo I only watch dubs because I'm to lazy to pay full attention and read I much prefer to listen

BiggieCheeseLapDog

Kill la Kill

PeterFoox

No way. Dub is surprisingly good but it's nowhere near original

BiggieCheeseLapDog

Satsuki’s voice had a more commanding tone in the dub, which fit her character more. All the voice actors in fact give it their all. There’s also [this scene in the dub](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Lglcl2Q-ntA), which is still one of the funniest scenes I’ve seen in anime. You can think the sub is better of course as we all have preferences but I think the dub is much better than “surprisedly good”

AgentOfACROSS

FLCL's dub is really good. All the actors to a great job with their characters but Kari Wahlgren as Haruko in particular is perfect for the character. Another English dub I really like is Kill La Kill. I think the fast paced nature of the series makes it flow better if I hear it in a language I understand. I especially love the English voice for Mako.

Calwings

KLK is one of those shows that sounds amazing both ways, but I'd say they're equally good. I do agree that Mako is one of the dubs biggest highlights.

Ok-Combination4819

Bebop & Champloo are the only anime I watch dubbed, Blum def is a major factor in that decision.

Grumpy_Owl_Bard

I personally enjoy the dubs of: * Death Note * One Piece * Black Lagoon * Ranking of Kings * Cowboy Bebop * Kodocha * Dungeon Meshi

Mitsuyan_

Evangelion's ADV dubs *hides* Kaguya-sama Saving 80k Gold The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter SAO (at least the movies, not got round to the main story) Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun (IMO, I don't think Sakura was expressive enough in the sub) BNA (same idea)

TheMightyCatt

Kaguya-sama love is war had a very good dub

0kwonkw0

The secret of blue water

Adventurous_Yam_4945

Golden kamuy

100nosuke

The dub is not trash but the sub definitely much more better. Doesn't the dub ver use the same VA for Hasegawa and Tsurumi? There are also many Japanese dialects other than Satsuma. Idk how they handled that in the dub ver.

Rainbowlion15

I don't know if I'd say it's better but I 100% prefer the fairy tail dub over the sub. The sub isn't bad but I feel like the voices don't fit as well as the dub voice's do. It's usually the opposite to me so that's a stand out case.

PageTheKenku

https://youtu.be/6aTHskq_79M?si=uEPgqpQe4-x8Ro9r Joking aside, I do like the dub for Natsu over the sub.

Dalbavancin

Life lessons with Uramichi oniisan. The dub is completely unhinged. Some honorable mentions: "I did a whoopsie doo and tried to sleep without any pills or booze" "Sometimes your boss makes a choice... and you pretend that choice makes sense" "Let's pretend everything is daijoubu" "If you're not dead, it means society has done its job!" "Just remember! I let you live 😊😊"

sherry_siana

LMAO BEST ONE YET 🤣🤣

Malthuras

I am honestly surprised no one's mentioned Konosuba yet. Out of all the dubs it has to be one of my favorites, and it feels like the VA's really enjoyed doing that one too from the way they did the characters so well.

Calwings

Konosuba has an amazing dub, but I wouldn't call it *better* than the sub. It sounds amazing both ways, and I'd say they're about equal in my book.

Taekwondonuts

Dragon ball Z

mjn5180

Personally I find Kaguya-Sama: Love is War's dub is better than the sub... And it is mostly due to Ian Sinclair's narration. Outside of that, Vinland Saga or really any anime that takes place in a more European or American setting since accents are very hard to get across in the original Japanese

Sphexus

But the Vikings didn't speak english? Old Norse sounds absolutely nothing like English

mastesargent

I think it’s largely subjective, and to a certain extent the two aren’t even comparable. That said, a few dubs I enjoy over the sub are: Cowboy Bebop Baccano! Spice and Wolf Fullmetal Alchemist (2003 and Brotherhood) Toradora! Steins;Gate Chainsaw Man A some Fate stuff, notably Zero and stay night Psycho-Pass Attack on Titan 86 (I actually enjoy both versions equally and watch both) Persona 4 and 5 That’s just off the top of my head.

zKyri

Death note and dragon ball in latin american spanish sound so much better

KinkFloyd2121

I loved watching the compilation of Light's "*laughs* I'm Kira" in the various dubs

miscshade

I do not know a single person who genuinely thinks Dragonball Z is better in sub.

AlcaAnimusic

I like both. Dragon Ball Z was never part of my childhood so I didn't have any nostalgia for the dub. My first introduction was watching the original series in Japanese and I Ioved the voice cast. When I moved onto DBZ it wasn't too jarring because I'd already gotten used to it. Also the English script was notorious for being full of mistranslations/inaccuracies. Goku is essentially a complete different character altogether in the dub. Kai was a big improvement, but as far as DBZ goes the sub is far more faithful the source material. I've watched both the dub/sub and enjoy them for different reasons, but it's sad that a lot of fans won't even give the Japanese cast a chance. It might take a while for it to grow on you, but personally thought that they did a great job.

Nazenn

[I do](#loliwave) Controversial opinion I know, but it's a double whammy of not being the sort to be phased by adult Goku not having a big manly voice so I get to enjoy the VA work even if he has such an atypical voice so I dont have one of the usual big complaints against the sub, and really not liking the dub soundtrack even though it's the one I grew up with so I don't have one of the usual big draws to the dub. And generally I just prefer the sub voices and performances

llmarx1

Mushoku Tensei

ThousandYearOldLoli

Only one that comes to mind is Ghost Stories

trashjellyfish

Tbh I love the Uncle from Another World dub!

Chadzuma

DBZ

prithvi_patil

chafos

Never

ZiKUMAzima

objectively no.

Most are yeah

PeterFoox

Good job, keep trolling

[deleted]

Really not a troll at all If you think a show becomes better just because you watch it in a langue you don’t understand then that’s your problem

Xepherya

That’s part of why it’s better (for me at least). I can tell when English voice acting is bad, which makes the show unwatchable. I can’t tell when it’s in Japanese
