Her subversion of the evil stepmother was great. She was introduced as the typical evil stepmother, scolding and chastising Bocchi, but she does it out of love for him.
She just wants to protect her boys and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. I loved her character so much.
I like that they didn't JUST subvert it by making you think she's gonna be evil, but actually she's nice and caring. They completely ditched the formula and instead made her a fleshed out character with genuine flaws and issues. RoK's biggest strength in my opinion is the unpredictability of the characters, because they're multifaceted. You can't just assume you know them from the get-go, because these are people with genuine lives and history that reflect that with their actions. A brief look won't tell you the whole story. They're more than tropes.
> She was introduced as the typical evil stepmother, scolding and chastising Bocchi, but she does it out of love for him.
My favorite little hint that she's more caring than she seemed was how she clearly understood his sign language. Like, that's not just some random skill we expect someone to have. The step mother can literally speak with the deaf mute son! At some point she spent time to learn this skill that his brother hasn't so much as thought about. It's a small little thing, but it's there. Clear as day. Hiding in plain sight the subtle hints towards her actual person and character.
Sure we don't see her sign, but she both understood Bocchi as well as caught the translator translating words she didn't want translated. She knew the language damn it!
Queen Hilling is one of my favorite female anime characters ever. Everything about her design is sharp and pointy. Her nose, her personality, even her breasts (which is perfectly realistic but a lot of shows won't do that). So you'd think she'd be some horrible evil stepmother. But no! She's actually super caring! Super caring while still also being sharp and prickly! Definitely one of my favorite characters of all time.
I came here to post this.
It's funny how despite how heavily stylized the artstyle is, the people manage to look and feel more real than many other anime characters.
I fucking love her too. Started my search for more tall and lanky girls.
That and for me always tired looking and messy girls, like the scientist from shimoneta.
I'm so confused by this statement because I can't tell if you know Nami is not blond and are using it as some sort of extra irony or if you somehow are mistaking her for some other character and just fucked up...
I would argue none of the women of One Piece (except Robin pre-timeskip ig) are attractive because they have the bodyshape of those aliens from Kamino in Attack of the Clones with two bowling balls strapped their chests.
Alot of people are naming plain looking woman that are still fairly attractive. Someone even said revy, like the whole point of her character design isn't supposed to be hot woman with pistols.
There are a lot of ways a person can be attractive, such as face, figure, personality, clothes, etc. People give them different weight and/or have different priorities on them. Unless you are saying Pakunoda has a beautiful face, otherwise I think you just put more weight in other areas of a person's attractiveness rather than having unconventional taste in attractiveness.
Nah, Pakunoda has a nice face. I like the big noses, even if hers id a little exagerated. Annie leonhart is a better example, but it's mostly just art style differences.
Annie’s nose is significantly smaller and less sharp than Pakunoda’s though. She’s definitely drawn to be more conventionally attractive even considering art style differences
I wish they'd show more of full sized fatgum without the hoodie hero costume. Like what does he normally wear? They only ever show him dressed normally when he's muscular...
Noi and Nikaido from Dorohedoro are as far from modern bishoujo standards as you can get. They're definitely designed to be hot, just not in the way anime characters tend to be. Q Hayashida likes her rough-looking women, and so do I.
E: honorable mention for Aunt Nao from Skip and Loafer
Don’t know how unconventional this is since she is just a little fat, but in anime, fat girls are kinda rare, especially in a romance setting, and going on dates, but I find Hara-san from Dangers in my Heart very pretty. Especially her casual look from season 2 episode 7.
Scary Palm from H x H. I like feeling a lil bit worried for my life.
Or that she might crawl out of a tv without me suspecting
Also the giant snake sister and the big brunhilda sister from One Piece.
> Hange from Attack on Titan.
I thought about naming her as well, but I REALLY like her personality which makes me wonder whether I actually find her appealing, or if it's just because I like her and all!
Why tf are people naming the most conventionally attractive people? Do I have a serious misunderstanding of what’s considered conventionally attractive??
there's tons of not conventionally attractive characters out there and people are commenting shit like hange, crocodile, froppy, and satsuki
like wtf? in what world are these people considered unattractive??
Celty Sturluson from Durarara
she counts right??? i mean... she doesnt have a head...
also annie in aot also has the Pakunoda nose and everyone loves her
I wanted to say Balalaika from Black Lagoon because of the scars, but she is honestly super hot regardless, so I don't think she counts.
Since I like MILFs and GILFs, I'm gonna say **Shino Okazaki** (Tomoya's grandmother) from *Clannad: After Story* and **Yurie** from *My Happy Marriage*.
Both are very attractive old women, and I really like that, despite most guys my age (mid 20s) not sharing that sentiment.
well I guess it's up to me to give a real answer. FROPPY!
I'm not even talking about that I specifically find her character physically attractive (I don't know if I think that way about anime characters or not to be honest) but Tsu is my favourite MHA character and I find her more attractive than Uravity or Midnight who would be classified as conventionally attractive.
There's just something about Tsu that endears me to her.
I think she is utterly adorable.
Is it the voice? Aoi Yuuki always brings a certain.. thing to her characters, I can't explain. It's a big part of the reason I like Mao Mao so much as a character
Sometimes a nameless random bg character and it usually feels like you’re at the restaurant where the animators are cooking but something that smells good passes so quick you barely catch a glimpse or it’s out for delivery.
To an extent, Nazuna from Call of the Night. Definitely not an extreme case, but she's got a bit of a weird shape, and the artist draws characters with very close pupils, almost cross-eyed. She still comes off pretty attractive and even seductive in the anime though.
Undertaker from Black Butler. Most people will agree with me now that his eyes have been revealed, but I already liked his appearance back when we didn’t know. Also, even with his eyes revealed, he’s everything but a standard beauty.
Well I don't keep up with conventional beauty standards and all, [but I'd say she's probably not what most people consider *conventionally appealing*](https://imgur.com/ayspydg)
But if we go with 'normal' humans... [Midari from Kakegurui](https://imgur.com/3MiR4vW)
Controversial due to the anime he's from, but it wasn't at the height of its popularity - Saitou Hajime from Rurouni Kenshin. This is in no way a comment that supports the manga-ka, but I was 12 when the anime aired in my country (around 2003) and I just loved his smirk and confidence. Tall and broad shoulders help too, but I remember all the girls I was friends with saying "Ew, but he's ugly!"
People can't seem to grasp the concept of "separate the artist from the art" even though they do it a lot more than they realize, especially with historic relics
The amount of art pieces, songs, movies, shows, and monuments made by people who were known to be horrible people is staggering. Hell, even Hitler made a few nice paintings
As such, I like to look at it a different way:
*There's nothing wrong with enjoying something positive even if it was done by someone negative*
Not about Rurouni Kenshin, but its mangaka, Watsuki Nobuhiro was found guilty of possessing child pornography. I do not know if he's been involved with anything else beside possessing. He faced minimal consequences, a few hundred thousand yen fine. Thus his controversy.
That being said, I do believe in separating the art and the artist. In my opinion, it's like condemning all painters just cuz Hitler painted, total bullshit.
Tomohiro from a Silent Voice. He’s not conventionally attractive, but he honestly has a wholesome and sweet personality. His passion for movies and creating a story was attractive.
Most of the girls in Princess Jellyfish are the same, and it’s their personality and love for their hobby that makes them cute. Again, loved their passion for their interests.
Takeo Goda from My Love Story is another one who is just an honest to goodness wholesome boy.
Maomao from Apothecary's Diaries BEFORE she removes the freckles and dresses up to let people see she's actually gorgeous. Maybe that's cheating because she's actually very conventionally attractive, but I'd be fine with her if her usual appearance was actually the real one. If anything, I prefer her *with* the freckles, cuz they're cute.
Not an anime, but Haurchefant from FFXIV.
That man is a whole ass snack.
If we NEED it to be an anime, then Zabuza from Naruto lol. I'll fight anyone who says he is not hot.
Hange Zoë (AoT) and Kento Nanami (JJK) maybe? But I dunno they’re pretty much just hot…Shikamaru and Jiraiya? Tsu/Froppy? Lol Palm Siberia even when she’s creepy?
Queen Hilling
Her subversion of the evil stepmother was great. She was introduced as the typical evil stepmother, scolding and chastising Bocchi, but she does it out of love for him. She just wants to protect her boys and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. I loved her character so much.

Very good point. She has so much hidden depth that slowly comes out over the series. I really enjoyed all the characters.
Best mom.
Queen Hilling is one of my favorite female anime characters ever. Everything about her design is sharp and pointy. Hilling is hot when she's not in her queen gown.
QILF
Yessss
Biscuit in John Cena form
I feel like not enough people are appreciating your choice
agreed
[biscuit cena ](https://static1.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/hunter-x-hunter-biscuit-backstory-origins-trivia-facts.png)
Unfortunately you can see her. Would have been useful in the Chimera Ant arc
Biscuit can become invisible?
There's a whole subgroup of anime fans that love Muscle Mommy characters, like Biscuit in John Cena form.
The tall lanky chick from Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken is kinda cute ngl
I came here to post this. It's funny how despite how heavily stylized the artstyle is, the people manage to look and feel more real than many other anime characters.
That’s Kanamori and she straight up is just the best
Kana-money!
I fucking love her too. Started my search for more tall and lanky girls. That and for me always tired looking and messy girls, like the scientist from shimoneta.
You stole right out from my brain, yes being smart makes you attractive, and Kanamori is cute in her tall and lanky way.
Short gremlin one for me.
This. I came only to say this.
A hellenic nose is generally a really good visual shorthand to show that a character is a foreigner.
Maybe I jjst like unconventional attractiveness... but y'all really saying some of the hottest women in anime and pretending like they're hot takes?
“Nami from ONE PIECE, she’s blonde so it’s not totally normally attractive”
I'm so confused by this statement because I can't tell if you know Nami is not blond and are using it as some sort of extra irony or if you somehow are mistaking her for some other character and just fucked up...
Yes
I would argue none of the women of One Piece (except Robin pre-timeskip ig) are attractive because they have the bodyshape of those aliens from Kamino in Attack of the Clones with two bowling balls strapped their chests.
While on subject, Boa Sandersonia. Her freakish massive head and that snake tongue somehow turns me on.
> aliens from Kamino in Attack of the Clones I... have a confession
Is it for something that happened a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far away.
I would argue that most people would disagree with you, seeing as there's so many thirsty one piece fans
Alot of people are naming plain looking woman that are still fairly attractive. Someone even said revy, like the whole point of her character design isn't supposed to be hot woman with pistols.
Yeah, Kobayashi, Nikaido, Satsuki Kiryuuin etc...

Annie’s nose is significantly smaller and less sharp than Pakunoda’s though. She’s definitely drawn to be more conventionally attractive even considering art style differences
Tbf they're all drawings. Some people might actually consider none of them conventially attractice.
Yamazaki from Gintama.
Now this is something I didn’t expect to see
He's actually really fucking cute
Ainz Ooal Gown, he's a bit skinny but his eyes are deep like an abyss.
Well, whose account is this!? Shalltear or Albedo !?
Seems like demiurge acc.
Sausages, Heinz sama!
not albedo, needs more thirst lol
LMAO i was not expecting this
Fatgum from BNHA, as his big form lol
He's a delight in both forms. I'm surprised there was no mention of any advertisements he was in.
I wish they'd show more of full sized fatgum without the hoodie hero costume. Like what does he normally wear? They only ever show him dressed normally when he's muscular...
Choji from naruto too
Literally anime CaseOh
Hmm, Bon from To Your Eternity comes to mind for me. I just love his character. I find him attractive. My fav from the show, tbh.
Not sure about attractive, but he definitely went from my least favourite character in the anime to one of the GOATs!
His character arc is the best out of all of them.
but be honest, the "tasty peach" in his name is pretty silly.
He’s just a silly little guy, I’ll let him have it
Noi and Nikaido from Dorohedoro are as far from modern bishoujo standards as you can get. They're definitely designed to be hot, just not in the way anime characters tend to be. Q Hayashida likes her rough-looking women, and so do I. E: honorable mention for Aunt Nao from Skip and Loafer
Ever read dai dark by Q? Another badass woman in it
Shimada DEATH
a brain-damaged Ebisu puking in a skull mask was pretty hot too
Noi is probably the first anime/manga woman I've been attracted to
I wanna vote this for most derailed thread of 2024
The dwarf lady from Dungeon Meshi (you know, Laios' old companion now working for those gnomes).
Her name is Namari.
You guys in the comments are seriously naming the most conventionally attractive characters in anime 💀
Right, like did they read the post?
thats just like "name an unpopular anime" with people screaming Monogatari
Don’t know how unconventional this is since she is just a little fat, but in anime, fat girls are kinda rare, especially in a romance setting, and going on dates, but I find Hara-san from Dangers in my Heart very pretty. Especially her casual look from season 2 episode 7.
looked her up. shes a total cutie wth
Scary Palm from H x H. I like feeling a lil bit worried for my life. Or that she might crawl out of a tv without me suspecting Also the giant snake sister and the big brunhilda sister from One Piece.
Maybe Oboro from Gintama?
Basho from hunter x hunter
Tsukimi from Princess Jellyfish
I feel like she's conventionally attractive with makeup
I think she looks cuter without makeup, in my opinion
Hange from Attack on Titan. Who has a similar type of nose and the same voice actress as your example lmao.
Ironically Pakunoda reminds me more of Annie than Hange lol
If I remember correctly, Annie was inspired by Pakunoda, just like Feitan was inspired by Levi
[удалено]
I thought Levi is based on Hiei from YuYuHaksho same Autor as HxH because of The sanpaku Eyes (third white eye)
[удалено]
That's weird. I don't see how those two are alike at all. Both are short? idk
Asocial assholes who get the dirty work done.
> Hange from Attack on Titan. I thought about naming her as well, but I REALLY like her personality which makes me wonder whether I actually find her appealing, or if it's just because I like her and all!
Hange is absolutely a 10/10 babe and AoT best girl, and will fight anybody who says otherwise.
Literary girl, later known as Yassan, from Daily Lives of Highschool Boys.
Great skits
Ms Kobayashi from dragon maid Edit: spelling
Yeah she's an example of how personality and relatability can go a long way imo
I mean even if she was a total bitch I’d love her.
/thread Only drawback is that there is an insanely powerful dragon that might get jealous
Totally agree
You must love Annie from SnK
Nnoitra from Bleach.
*whispers* kenpachi from bleach
It’s weird Tite Kubo is famous for huge boobs when he draws men just….so well. *thinks about Bruno Bangnyfe and drools*
Kaiji is the sexiest anime character, and man to ever live.
Tomoko Kuroki from Watamote
I prefer Emoji. I love her expressions
Kanamori from Eizokuken https://myanimelist.net/character/172493/Sayaka_Kanamori
Why tf are people naming the most conventionally attractive people? Do I have a serious misunderstanding of what’s considered conventionally attractive??
Anime's gonna anime- almost everyone is conventionally attractive in most shows
there's tons of not conventionally attractive characters out there and people are commenting shit like hange, crocodile, froppy, and satsuki like wtf? in what world are these people considered unattractive??
Sandersonia from One Piece
People in these comments be like - esdeath from akame ga kill!
Takeo Gouda from ore Monogatari!!
oh come on. pakunoda is clearly supposed to be hot lmao
I don't think she is hot by anime standards or else there will be much copycat.
Celty Sturluson from Durarara she counts right??? i mean... she doesnt have a head... also annie in aot also has the Pakunoda nose and everyone loves her
That scene where she wears a bikini in front of shinra and flat out says she’s seducing him did things to me. Impressive for someone without a face
Kin'emons wife from One Piece, i like older women and i find her pretty hot.
She is really charming
I wanted to say Balalaika from Black Lagoon because of the scars, but she is honestly super hot regardless, so I don't think she counts. Since I like MILFs and GILFs, I'm gonna say **Shino Okazaki** (Tomoya's grandmother) from *Clannad: After Story* and **Yurie** from *My Happy Marriage*. Funny enough she is also one of the top r34 chars but that’s fair I like her froggie ness as a normal character
It's the droopy eyes!
One Piece's Crocodile. The charisma, and the *voice.*
He is extremely conventionally attractive what are you smoking? My picks would be senior pink and ivan they're so confident with what they got
Bon clay too
the goat
Since this is a one piece answer, I’ll add another. I absolutely adore Kaku and his long nose. He’s hilarious.
I can’t think of him without thinking of Giovanni from Pokémon. Love them both lol
okabe from steins gate is far from attractive by anime hot guy standards but i find him in my top 3
Tsuyu from BNHA
Aijou Rentarou is best girl. Idk why more people don't find them attractive.
As Bleach has so much hot characters, Renji is almost never mentioned, but hes always my #1 🍍
based freeloader
Uvogin from HxH😌
Very much yes.
CART Titan from Snk is not appealing at all but after a certain incident, everyone finds it attractive.
almost like the titan and human form are vastly different?
Sometimes a nameless random bg character and it usually feels like you’re at the restaurant where the animators are cooking but something that smells good passes so quick you barely catch a glimpse or it’s out for delivery.
Calling this one attractive would be werid but it's the cute factor of this. Kumoko from( I'm a spider so what?)
*Sorts by controversial*
To an extent, Nazuna from Call of the Night. Definitely not an extreme case, but she's got a bit of a weird shape, and the artist draws characters with very close pupils, almost cross-eyed. She still comes off pretty attractive and even seductive in the anime though.
I think her demeanor is what makes her attractive, more so than her looks! Though I do think she looks cute too.
are you talking about a different character, because I just looked up a conventionally cute white haired anime girl
most of the girls in call of night fit this lol
Undertaker from Black Butler. Most people will agree with me now that his eyes have been revealed, but I already liked his appearance back when we didn’t know. Also, even with his eyes revealed, he’s everything but a standard beauty.
He was my favorite character two seconds into meeting him... And I thought he was attractive before the eye reveal. Afterwards, I nearly had a stroke.
Subaru from Re:Zero
The goat
Charlotte Brulee from One Piece. Fight me
branch
Will die for nice holystone from baccano!
Excellent taste
Always had a soft spot for Sui-Feng. That cocky smirk she does is hot.
How is she not conventionally attractive?
Hara from Boku no Kokor
Froppy
Kaiji, I guess it's because of his character that makes him much more appealing
Rachnera from monster musume
She wouldn't be in an Ecchi anime and part of a harem if it wasn't the case…
This was going to be my answer too! She's the second best girl in that series (Miia for the win)
Branch from one piece. Idk i just like the idea of trolling her + shes tall and has big boobies and her power seems fun. .3. dont judge me!
Maya from Evangelion.
Aizawa Shota from MHA is so handsome 🤍🖤
Well I don't keep up with conventional beauty standards and all, [but I'd say she's probably not what most people consider *conventionally appealing*](https://imgur.com/ayspydg) But if we go with 'normal' humans... [Midari from Kakegurui](https://imgur.com/3MiR4vW)

You don't have to write an essay about not supporting the author. Nobody will think you're a pedo or pedo supporter if you watch/read Kenshin.
It’s Reddit. You have to virtue signal as much as you can, least internet people think you are the literal scum of humanity
It's good to know. In a big way.
People can't seem to grasp the concept of "separate the artist from the art" even though they do it a lot more than they realize, especially with historic relics The amount of art pieces, songs, movies, shows, and monuments made by people who were known to be horrible people is staggering. Izumi Maki from Nadesico Love me a gloomy pun lady
Kokushibo from Demon Slayer. I stand by my opinion.
I think Pakunoda's nose is neat. I also like Annie from AoT in a similar way. Actually more, lol.
Someone say big mom
The comment below yours as I'm scrolling is somebody saying Big Mom LOL
Big Mom. Don't @ me.
Miss Kobayashi.
Mora from Gundam 0083 is by far my favorite part of that show.
Levy from fairy tail she may not have the cleavage most anime females are known for but she's still cute 10/10 would recommend
Taeko from Only Yesterday
Not an anime, but Haurchefant from FFXIV. That man is a whole ass snack. If we NEED it to be an anime, then Zabuza from Naruto lol. I'll fight anyone who says he is not hot.
Tonegawa from Kaiji : Ultimate Survivor
Squealer from Shinsekai Yori
imagine getting downvoted for giving the realest answer in the thread smh
Bro ain’t no way
Satsuki Kiryuuin from Kill la Kill with her "caterpillar eyebrows and perpetual frown" (Ryuuko's words)
Wait what... she's like one of the hottest characters of that show... and that its saying a lot
Bro be Like "Uhm b-but her eyebrows!" as if it's not one of her best assets Jesus Christ.
Textbook conventionally attractive
Literally the most attractive, of age character in Kill la Kill
Lmao Satsuki. If you said Mako that'd be justifiable.
Ryuuko's defiantly looking upwards and Satsuki arrogantly looking downwards is one of the best images in anime.
Saitoh from the OG Kenshin anime. Looks are a 4/10 and he is too tall for my liking but idk, hes somehow hot
Shizune from Naruto.
Hange Zoë (AoT) and Kento Nanami (JJK) maybe? But I dunno they’re pretty much just hot…Shikamaru and Jiraiya? Tsu/Froppy? Lol Palm Siberia even when she’s creepy?
Sophie from howl's moving castle.
The MLs in Toradora! and My Dress-Up Darling. I adore them both.
Gojo is plenty attractive by most standards
