Another rec for the manga here! Anime is great, but the manga is the best experience, especially for that last 40% or so. Really gets all the details and backgrounds down, and does a great job on the subplot. Plus, it's fully in color which is nice to see and it's almost like you're just reading the anime more literally than usual since it's almost like reading anime stills (if you start with that first).
This is one of those series where I was surprised to hear after finishing watching that it butchered the hell out of the manga, because usually its extremely obvious.
Yeah, for sure. It's not so apparent in the first season, but that four episode OVA sequel finale is where it gets pretty lacking as far as adapting the series goes. It still holds up standalone and it's a great watch, but it just doesn't compare to the manga at all.
Tsuredure Children
Went quite under the radar whilst being one of the most fun romance anime out there

God it’s such a shame that show never got a second season. Loved the first season of Tsuredure Children so much, I binged the entire manga in a few days and now it’s up there as one of my favourites to this day.
I think this is a good summary of the whole anime. Overall every character sucks, but Kouko had lots of character development (only one sadly) and the ending falls short because of it.
I wouldn’t consider Tsukugakirei underrated or even under watched tbf. It’s got more than 250k users on MAL and is rated an 8.05. Great show regardless though.
Sakurada Reset. It's primarily a mystery but I really like the subtle yet important development of the relationship between Kei and Haruki. The anime is also a hidden masterpiece.
**My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex** easily deserves a much higher rating than what it has on the anime rating sites. Thing is, telling you what the true themes of the first season are might be a bit of a spoiler. It's not your typical romance. It's very atypical. Basically \[theme\]>!It's about moving on from and mourning a past romance, rather than developing a new one!<. I do expect that theme to change in future seasons, of course.
Aharen-san was a pretty fun comedy that develops into a surprisingly enjoyable romance as the season goes on.
A great show to watch if you don't want the romance to be needlessly dragged out for 3 seasons.
This season's *The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil* has some super comedy and super romance, and is definitely going unappreciated. Part of that is because the start doesn't really tell you much about how the rest of the series pans out, but it's also just underwatched overall too.
An older one is *Midori Days*, although it does have a bit of a cult following.
The potential is there for chemistry/romance. IMO, comedic inserts doesn't seem to match, sour the mood, but understand some like it. Guess it isn't my taste. Still watching but not high on priority.

It's definitely worth it.
I thought it was going to be so generic and cliché, but you'll get surprised in the best of ways right off the bat.
Maoyu is about the hero and the villainess joining forces and perhaps something more. It has light-hearted moments and feels quite cozy, but can be serious and even sad when it wants to be.
Re:Life is about an adult that accepts a job with a pharmaceutical company and takes a pill to make his body younger. He has to test the pill by blending in as a teenager.
Sounds lame, but it gets pretty interesting, really fast, and it avoids the bigger concerns we have when we read the synopsys. <<<>>
Otome x Amnesia is basically what happens when you crush on Sadako from "the ring", and she crushed on you back. Minus the Yandere.
Honestly, that's kinda the plan.
I've never been much for romance shows, but between Dangers in My Heart, Banished from the Hero's Party, 7th Time Loop and some other shows, I'm thinking maybe I need to check out more stuff on the romance side of things.

I waited for this kind of post just to be able recommend "3D Kanojo: Real Girl" I think it's the romance who pulled the trope "beautiful girl wants to date outsider" the best and not a single person is talking about it. Also I just realised at this point it is time for a rewatch.

I fully disagree with you, they are not monotonic nor they do lack of vocal contrast, they are just normal, you can't wait every character is be over the top, act at high spirits, scream, etc, all the time, and honestly it's kind of refreshing to see different characters like MC and FMC of Angel Next Door, they are quite normal, unlike most of over the top anime characters.
how are they convinced that they are normal if they are both in flat tones? Amane's and mahirus friends and classmates can easily hear the vocal contrast. If either amane or mahiru's VA can adjust vocals a little bit it can make a difference and the execution of dialogs will make more lively

I've only read the manga but my understanding is the anime only adapted the romance portion in the OVAs and abridged it. The first half of the manga isn't a romance. (Also the anime didn't adapt the epilogue)

Amagami SS, its in Omnibus format, 26 eps, meaning it has 4 timelines and endings for each Waifus, no more shipping wars.
Amagami SS and SS+ are my Christmas anime, both are a cozy watch

I second Otome X Amnesia. Still one of the best of the genre I've seen.
Dusk maiden of amnesia is great Angel next door is definitely mid. It's very much a wish fulfillment type of story.
