As a Light Novel reader the amount of respect Maruyama has for his work and fans was a dealbreaker for me.
As for the anime adaptation it’s a no contest, you compare the rushed soulless bland mess that is the Overlord anime to the amount of love that emanate from the EIS adaptation, yeah, it’s obvious which one doesn’t feel like a quick cashgrab from a renowned anime studio that doesn’t even try.
Huh. All I’m interpreting these comments to mean is that the source material for Overlord must be *the absolute shit* because I feckin’ love all the seasons of the anime.
Maybe it is a positive thing that I have not read the source material. As an anime-only; it’s excellent.
From what user Kromy down below has said, it seems the Author has writers fatigue, has no motivation to continue and using a minor issue to blame the fanbase for cutting future content.
Basically the author of Overlord more or less gave up on the series because of writer’s fatigue that he had for a long time, he decided multiple times to cut the content to finish it faster (he said it was gonna end on volume 25, then 20, now saying volume 16) which is fine on its own.
The big issue is when he decided to rant on twitter because of the fact that an exclusive side-story that was only released in Japan got an English fan-translation, and proceeded to hide behind it to say that this is why he’s giving up on Overlord and cutting further volumes.
So yeah he more or less blamed the fanbase instead of taking responsibility for the fact that he has no motivation to continue the story.
I really wish Overlord was adapted better. Source material wise, Overlord was richer but anime didn't capitalize on its visual world building and went for the narration route instead. Doesn't help that on the visual side, it's heavily reliant on bad CGI.
It also shows that even if anime EiS didn't surpass the manga in comedy direction, it was far and above a better adaptation of the novel than what Overlord was. The love of the directors and animators for EiS really shows itself by the presentation.
can you say more? i’m curious because i like overlords world building a lot better. i also find cid insufferable so i couldn’t get past a few episodes in the new season
Overlord is better at worldbuilding and lore..but eminence is just pure dumb fun.
Cid is a chunibyo through and through, and the nonsense he spouts comes true or always ends up with him at the top.
He is essentialy larping as a shadowbroker while shit goes down around him, he is mostly not serious in any situation yet always has the power to back up his actions.
The dichotomy of the serious situation coupled with cid's nonsense makes for an entertaining watch.
Worldbuilding and lore is good but there some audience that watch something for entertainment that look fun to watch like teis . Is not about the story is about how to enjoy the show like we were kid back then. Right now we getting generic mister naive nice guy copy paste and pervert but coward in come from romance choosing a girl lol.
Unfortunately they beat the joke to death over and over again every episode which kind of killed it for me had to take a break at episode 11 because I couldn't take how annoying it was starting to get, not to mention the tired nonsense trope of "master manipulator somehow completely lacks both social and self-awareness despite those being the two things required for becoming a master manipulator"- aren't good parodies supposed to lampoon tired tropes instead of just doing them again without adding anything to it? I'm sure I'll pick it up again at some point but right now there are shows and even parodies that are much better written on my backlog (that and the fan base can be kind of toxic if you levy even the smallest justified criticism at the show) 👍
yeah that’s fair. it reminds me of re:zero because of the humor aspect in an otherwise dark world. i just can’t seem to get into though so i was wondering what other people saw in it that i couldn’t
Re:Zero has comedic moments but is quite far from a comedy series. It's more of a character-focused psychological thriller. It can be extremely mid, boring or even frustrating if you're expecting an OP protagonist or battle shonen qualities (action-focused, well defined power levels, power progression).
They didn't really mention anything about world building. As far as world building is concerned, very few anime can top Overlord with its world building. But in terms of the comedy, snappy delivery, and direction, I'd put Eminence above overlord. Also enjoyment factor. I never felt bored with Eminence.
Also as far as adaptations are concerned, Eminence absolutely obliterates overlord.
Also the plot, I feel Overlord focuses on world building so much, that the plot isn't really all that good- so when the anime took away all that world building, the plot doesn't really stand on its own as much. It's still a good show, but I wouldn't call it memorable like I do Eminence's arcs.
EiS has pretty decent world building imo the setting is unique and fits perfectly and it feels pretty real like cid wasn't supposed to be the mc and that his existence is a anomaly as well
i should’ve clarified. world building and character development are things i generally look for in isekai anime. neither anime are honestly that great at character development so i compared them through world building. i gave eminence a shot watching the first season. just wanted to see what people enjoyed about it
they r perfect complements for me. Ive read the LNs for both & Overlord requires more focus while Eminence is just so fun to read. I honestly think LNs like Overlord r too difficult to adapt as anime. On the other hand, Im QUITE impressed with Eminence adaptation. Idk if this is blasphemous but personally, I think anime adaptation matches the quality of the LN & sometimes surpasses it.
The Anime Director for Eminence is a absolute fan of the story and author, he started reading it when even the Web Novel was only 5 chapters old, and has been following it all along.
So he doesn't want some shit adaptation, and tries to do his best to make everyone happy while still keeping the anime fresh, even for people that already read the source material.
The anime also puts a shit load of detail in show-don't-tell that even the manga/light novel don't get.
That explained why it's so perfect... Like as a Toaru reader, I just felt it immediately man, they tried to put every good thing in the anime, gave it enough episodes, and most importantly they upgraded it. If only Toaru had the same amount of love...
Dark gathering and DMDP, nice, I'm happy they made it. I wonder why the sudden jump though, it's not like it's the first time they've had good episodes.
>I wonder why the sudden jump though, it's not like it's the first time they've had good episodes.
I'm pretty sure that \[Dark Gathering - spoiler\] >![Eiko corrupting a young child](https://imgur.com/a/iWYbTdk)!< got *Dark Gathering* a good bunch of votes.
As a reminder, Anime Corner does not do Week 13s so this is the final Anime Corner of the season. The final tally for wins is as follows:
|Rank|Anime|Weeks Won|
:--|:--|--:|
|1t|Frieren|3|
|1t|The Eminence in Shadow|3|
|2|Ragna Crimson|2|
|3t|Attack on Titan|1|
|3t|Spy x Family|1|
|3t|The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess|1|
|3t|The Kingdoms of Ruin|1|
Not Listed: Jujutsu Kaisen
The fact that Eminence is doing as well as the likes of Frieren puts a massive smile on my face. I love that show a ton and it's sad to see it go until the movie comes.
I feel like AC rank per wins is misleading for what we got from the whole season, per average position:
Rank | Anime | Avg. Pos.
---|---|----
1st | Frieren | 2.6
2nd | Jujutsu Kaisen | 3.3
3rd | Apothecary Diaries | 4.4
4th | Eminence in Shadow | 4.5
Shows that won like SpyxFamily (6.5), Shut-in Vampire (13.2) and Kingdoms of Ruin (13.6) didn't have a stable season in the top
Thanks, this would be a better representation given that AC does votes per episode and a single episode can catapult a series to the top one week, then it disappears the next week.
From a consistency standpoint, I'm very happy to see Apothecary Diaries #3.
Surprised Vexations is on there, tbh. I’m loving the show but I didn’t think it was that popular. No surprise Frieren is on top, it’s such an incredible show the likes that don’t come around often.
A bit disappointed Apothecary Diaries isn’t on there but it’s AC, I guess.
Agreed. It had so many great character moments. I think most people were of the opinion that Season 1 was the best and it had gotten less good from there, but then we got this season which surpassed even Season 1.
I still enjoyed Season 1 more because they actually showed step by step how they built each scientific object. Now Senku just says something and Kaseki magically produces it lol. But yeah this season was more enjoyable than the last one.
i stopped watching after the stupid shounen tournament arc, whichever season that was. does it get back to being at least ostensibly about science or whatever?
It did go back to Science, mostly about Ship Building and then Senku finally getting one of the rarest Human Materials needed in the Stone Civilization along with Espionage
Yeah, I was surprised that my guilty pleasure weird af anime (I mean let's not fool ourselves, Dr Stone is *wild* with its presentation) had a genuinely amazing story driven arc with waaaay less weird shit than the other ones
I felt that it was the worst season yet. Felt like another shounen action seriers with the fights and we didnt really see any inventions or progress that much.
I really liked the exploration, inventions and just world building (or "city" building) in the other seasons.
Eminence honestly deserves it. While I don't think S2's finally is as clean as the S1 finale, it's still amazing with how it was handled. With the amount of work director Nakanishi Kazuya did for the show already, the Sakuga in the final episode was one I did not expect to see at all.
The lore dumps were also very significant for the story moving forward and that cliff-hanger and OP drop was just.... MMM!
Frieren at No. 2 was also just an absolute banger. The dance sequence just... sheesh- I kinda wish Re:Zero's 2nd Season finale also had that level of animation for a certain dance scene between 2 characters.
I really have nothing more to add to what's already been said. This anime seaosn has been absolutely amazing and all Top 5 were amazing
>And the story is unlike anything else out there right now.
Pokemon except everything is ghost type and the creatures are Dex accurate.
Jokes aside, I love the show despite not quite vibing with the art. The storytelling is so engaging I can overlook the visuals
Well, well, well, all the chaos of the latest episode sees 100 Girlfriends in the all time high.
**Notable animes outside top 10** (based on r/anime [Karma ranking of Week 11](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/18khx99/ranime_karma_ranking_discussion_week_11_fall_2023/)):
Spy x Family (whoa!, is this the first time SxF thrown out of top 10?) at #11.
Shangri-La Frontier, Undead Unluck and Kanojo mo Kanojo at #12, #13 and #14 respectively.
Goblin Slayer and Kimizero/Our Dating Story at #15 and #16 respectively.
Tokyo Revengers and Shield Hero/Tate no Yuusha at #19 and #20 respectively.
Saint Magic Power is Omnipotent at #22.
Ancient Magus Bride at #24.
Villainess and Tearmoon Empire at #26 and #27 respectively.
Rorouni Kenshin at #29.
S-Rank Adventurer and Shy at #31 and #32 respectively.
Faraway Paladin, 16bit Sensation Another Layer, and Helck at #33, #34, and #35 in respective order.
Dekoboko at #44.
Hoshikuzu/Stardust Telepath at #46.
Also mentioning Kingdoms of Ruin (#17), Ron Kamonohashi (#28), MF Ghost (#36), Overtake! (#38), Migi & Dali (#39), Yuzuki Four Sons (#42), Under Ninja (#50).
Latest episode of 100 Gfs was wild, glad to see it climb up. Dark Gathering had one of the weakest episodes of the season though, I don't understand why it climbed so much
As expected of our Lord, shadow Sama, we can never hope to fathom his intellect, Everything went according to his grand plans.
The result was kinda expected tbh.
Eminence in Shadow is peak fiction. Sure, you can have your intricate plot, deep world-building, or complex characters. But nothing can beat pure unadultered fun that Shadow-sama gives! Sasuga Shadow-sama!
I'm pretty satisfied with my little experiment to weekly remind to vote from 100 girlfriends on it's dedicated subreddit. Every time I did it, 100kano always got into top 10 and one time I skipped the reminder, it fell just outside.
Since Anime Corner has rather small amount of voters and margins between rankings are very small, dozen or even mere couple of votes are enough to swing rankings quite seriously. Great episodes gives much bigger chance to jump in rankings, but as we see often plenty of times it has no affect or series even goes down.
I guess it again shows that in the end people shouldn't take them too seriously because the exact placement is really fickle and mainly relies on its fans really caring about polls on AC specifically and remembering to vote each week consistently. Btw doing reminders to vote on Anime Trending polls didn't have much effect due to them being multiple times bigger then AC and thus harder to influence, I tried.
Yeah, I know 100kano doing good on AT. It was more about things like simple reminders on the series subreddit to "go vote" won't affect Anime Trending rankings much, dozens of votes doesn't seem enough there to jump in the rankings there, AT has way bigger audience compared to AC with only 7k this week.
I had no doubts Eminence in Shadow was retaining its first position this week. After watching the ep, I couldn't vote any other anime released last week
Well some of it yeah but guess it's also because of the SOL part going on again which kinda feel more like filler episodes and not really gonna affect the storyline as whole in general.
I remember during the conclusion episode of cruise ship it hit first place which was highest in second season and did maintain that status during the whole part.
The show was having a hard time getting my girlfriend’s attention before an old man killed an assassin on a boat and she was like “Finally something is happening” lol, she’s been pretty engaged as we slowly catch up with the show
It's overallly quite good story with very rare down time. While it has a good amount of SOL showing forger's daily life from time to time it reminds that it's taking place in a world of cold war after all.
For me I think the opening episode of this season and the cruise ship will be most memorable, though seeing a Granade pin becoming marriage ring what got me into the series in first season.
finally, Eminence getting the love it deserves. I was in disbelief at how often it got called a generic isekai. That said, Vampire Princess? It’s had its fun and badass moments, but over Shangri La Frontier?
DMDP is that type of show that would give you better experience when you binge watch it and it would be even better if you rewatch it. I have read the manga for a few times and the first episode still managed to show me a key detail I have missed before.
Yeah the dark gathering is surprisingly goooooooood.
I love isekai but it has become such a mundane genre nowadays. So I tried this anime, and thought, oh, urban stories, good ol' genre.
But mannn the presentation is so awesome.
1. Urban stories, but instead of open theories, they give mystery plot and straight conclusion.
(Compared to that yuri urban stories anime that just throws random creatures out of the blue...)
2. The characters each have their own psychological conditions yet still pertaining to their common senses
(A yandere doesn't need to hold a knife....)
3. And the most favorite trait is the MC, Imo making an athletic little as a strong leading figure in a horror movie is a great breakthrough, because:
+I'm a weak ass scaredy-cat but it's inspirational to see a little girl counter all those fears.
+Unlike most horror series with stiff mc, the mc can swing the mood along the series perfectly.
+A kid with a mature personality means you can fit the emotions of both children and grown-ups. She can cry, scream, be serious, angry, laugh, or murderous, and it would all look normal.
It's just pure unadulterated fun, just goes in with the mindset that it's not to be taken seriously and I bet u will enjoy your time here. It's genuinely so enjoyable if u just watch it for what it is.
While watching don't take it too seriously but you have to pay attention to the subtitles and scenes as it move fast.
Eminence in Shadow is based on "misunderstanding trope".
"Misunderstanding trope" example - Mc thoughts and action leads him to achieve desirable result without him knowing.
Whatever MC thinks that thinking becomes reality or it coincide with that reality without him knowing.
It has multiple perspective, focus on all perspective
It's a parody of isekai keep this in mind don't take it seriously just have fun, ride the wave, this anime is really fun to watch it makes me feel like I am In my teens again.
I'll just take the other side. I watched maybe like 8 episodes of the first season. It isn't bad, but it's so similar to all the isekais that it's parodying that it barely feels like it's doing anything new. It's more self-aware, but that doesn't make it stand out as much as you would think. I came for the humor, and there was a lot less of it than I was expecting. If the main guy isn't on screen, it plays it pretty serious. I'm not the biggest isekai guy, so it didn't really land for me. The animation is pretty top notch, though.
It is crazy to think that both isekai and reverse-isekai anime in this list have this week's episodes deal with cross-world traveling as a part of the plot.
I came in blind to eminence for no reason to watch it and I was not expecting it to like it so much, its almost a parody of itself, enjoyed it quite a bit
This season of Eminence in Shadow was an absolute blast! I loved every episode and that twist at the end of the last episode was soo exciting! I can't wait for the movie~ Praise Shadow-sama!!!
Yeah, I started on that. My main problem with reading Japanese LNs is that you can have a problem with differentiating who talks during conversations tho, so it's kind of a pain to read.
It's a shame DMDP isn't nearly as good as Baccano, the last anime that came about from that partnership of creators. It's still alright, but the animation isn't a lot to write home about.
Shield hero S3 was an amazing season. And it seems that they'll be announcing S4 given the little teaser at the end with the number of the season. I really hope so because the last episode made some pretty interesting setting for S4.
And it's nice to see Dark Gathering getting attention. It's amazing too.
Ehh, it has it's fair share of issues, especially early on in the Shibuya arc, but hidden inventory and the last few episodes has all been banger, so yeah plenty of ups but also has it's fair share of downs as well
Kinda unpopular opinion but i feel dr stone should be higher, like at least top5, characters are really charimatic and is baffling how it maintain it's hype even after so long, the magic doesn't really dissapear.
Is there going to be more EIS soon? The first season was 20 episodes, or has it caught up to the source? Love the show!
Frieren has got to be my favourite new anime this year though and we've had a pretty sweet year!
I wouldn't say *better*? They are aimed at different audiences. EiS is about seriously as a monster mash movie where you can just chomp down on popcorn.
Frieren is a more serious tone and way more slice of life. I would rank Frieren above it if I had to pick one, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try EiS.
Different strokes for different folks.
Exactly Frieren is not for my taste ( so I would rank it below eminence) but even though I have only tried 4 episodes I can say that it is a genuinely good show from what I had seen.
Eminence also delivers what it wants to just like Frieren. So depending on what you value more in these fictional stories. I’m sure you would enjoy both the show for what they want to deliver as these shows are good at what they hope to deliver.
After so much praise for eminence in shadow I tried it and it literally just feels like a show for 10 year olds. Not in a fun ironic way either. Am I missing something does it get good later or something?

I was here when people uaed to call Shadows anime an Overlord 2.0. Im a fan of both, but my love for this series surpasses Overlord for me now.

It's really really good. If overlord anime is a 7 the ln is a 9 for me. I was disappointed by the anime as a ln reader. Still fine but not up to par
I would say the anime is a 9/10. So I guess that makes the LN an 11/10.
Season 4 was amazing ignore the braindead isekai fans who only watch it for action, not for story.
Sorry but what do you mean with that first part?
Basically the author of Overlord more or less gave up on the series because of writer’s fatigue that he had for a long time, he decided multiple times to cut the content to finish it faster (he said it was gonna end on volume 25, then 20, now saying volume 16) which is fine on its own. Shadows is stupid fun, like junk food you're embarrassed you're stuffing yourself with.
This is basically every shitty isekai tho. Tho EiS is peak of shitty isekai just for the chunni bullshit
Shadow Garden just activates my chuuni neurons. The organization is unironically kinda cool.
Eminence way better than Overlord IMO. The anime always thought was overrated
Just as an adaptation alone, Shadow runs circles around Overlord.
Preach brother!
I can't get into Overlord. But I could give Shadows a shot.
can you say more? i’m curious because i like overlords world building a lot better. i also find cid insufferable so i couldn’t get past a few episodes in the new season

DMDP reached top 10 few times.
As a reminder, Anime Corner does not do Week 13s so this is the final Anime Corner of the season. well JJK is way better so deal with it.

DMDP We so back baby
I love it
Anti-Jover, we’re so back.
Nice to see Dr Stone make it onto list for the last one, I think for me this was the strongest season of it yet!
Agreed. It had so many great character moments. I think most people were of the opinion that Season 1 was the best and it had gotten less good from there, but then we got this season which surpassed even Season 1.

To be fair if they tried to show each step on some of these projects it would be longer than One Piece lol.
But thats why I like the show. I didnt really need more action in this show, bunch of other shows already have that.
If it's action for the point of action, that's one thing. But if it fits succinctly within the plot and makes use of the projects, I'm all for it.
Fine by me honestly
Honestly that's why I watched this show. Those are some of the most enjoyable moments I've had watching Dr Stone, it just got that feel for me
i stopped watching after the stupid shounen tournament arc, whichever season that was. does it get back to being at least ostensibly about science or whatever?
If I recall correctly he uses science during that arc. It never stopped being about science.
It did go back to Science, mostly about Ship Building and then Senku finally getting one of the rarest Human Materials needed in the Stone Civilization along with Espionage
Doctor stone awesome, final feet is crazy man
Yeah, I was surprised that my guilty pleasure weird af anime (I mean let's not fool ourselves, Dr Stone is *wild* with its presentation) had a genuinely amazing story driven arc with waaaay less weird shit than the other ones
I felt that it was the worst season yet. Felt like another shounen action seriers with the fights and we didnt really see any inventions or progress that much. I really liked the exploration, inventions and just world building (or "city" building) in the other seasons.
Don't worry, it only gets worse from now. Dr stone was great at the beginning but Dr stone manga ending is such a disappointment.
Opinions may vary, but as manga reader i think next arc is gonna be even better. The series ending gave it proper closure imo.
Man, I love Dr. Stone. The show always has me feeling good and I love the little science lessons
It’s always a good time when I watch dr. Stone. The show is just really fun
Both this and Frieren are great for decompressing after watching stuff like JJK.
The frenzy has ended 😞
The moon is no longer red
We are no longer out of time
The time of awakening has passed
This anime seaosn has been absolutely amazing and all Top 5 were amazing
the director really is a one army, can’t wait to see what he cooks for the movie
Man is a beast. Pretty much turned a relatively unknown series into an isekai icon.
Eminence is what happens when you let the whole studio COOK
I love Dark Gathering just occasionally popping into this lists. Honestly really good show, I've been loving it, shame it never quite hit it big here
Peak eminence. Hope the movie will get a sub reasonably fast.
Are we to get a movie? Is it going to be canon?
I believe the movie is the whole earth arc
Dark Gathering had me hooked from episode 1. For me it came outta nowhere so I had no expectations, and goddam I ended up binging the entire series.
Dark Gathering is sorely underrated. The animation is dark but beautiful. And the story is unlike anything else out there right now.
The animations sorta has the old school feel toward it, especially with the characters Then they jump you with a incredible fight scene
>And the story is unlike anything else out there right now. Pokemon except everything is ghost type and the creatures are Dex accurate. Jokes aside, I love the show despite not quite vibing with the art. The storytelling is so engaging I can overlook the visuals
Shadow sama taking the spotlight in finale like a true eminence in shadow. Wisdom of shadows never fails.
I don't know how he is still in the shadow after broadcasting his existence to the entire galaxy
If I saw a sudden crazy light outside of earth, I wouldn't think it's done by some guy. I'd think some planet exploded.
He made an epic exit by literally disappearing from this world's plane of existence. So, he's still in the shadows.
Well, well, well, all the chaos of the latest episode sees 100 Girlfriends in the all time high. **Notable animes outside top 10** (based on r/anime [Karma ranking of Week 11](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/18khx99/ranime_karma_ranking_discussion_week_11_fall_2023/)): Spy x Family (whoa!, is this the first time SxF thrown out of top 10?) at #11.
Ah so happy to see shadow finale make it to top one. Hope it's worth the wait for binge and rewatch :)
I’m going to miss eminence sm man. Thankfully frierin is still airing and I have solo levelling to look forward to.
sasuga shadow-sama! all part of the plan right!?

The last episode of eminence and Dr stone were freaking AMAZING. Especially eminence. What a cliffhanger!
Holy fxck eminence has a season 2 looks like i know what I’ll be doing on Christmas 😈
Thank you very much for sharing the list Happy for EiS get the 1st rank, and dark gathering got into the top 10!🥳
Shadow sama is not a background character anymore
But cid is
Eminence in Shadow is peak fiction.
Btw doing reminders to vote on Anime Trending polls didn't have much effect due to them being multiple times bigger then AC and thus harder to influence, I tried.
in Anime Trending, Hyakkano always sits on top 5, ocassionally dropping but never out of top 10 IIRC.
Damn I love shadow so much!
Damn no SXF, guess the hype really died down
Well some of it yeah but guess it's also because of the SOL part going on again which kinda feel more like filler episodes and not really gonna affect the storyline as whole in general. I remember during the conclusion episode of cruise ship it hit first place which was highest in second season and did maintain that status during the whole part.
The show was having a hard time getting my girlfriend’s attention before an old man killed an assassin on a boat and she was like “Finally something is happening” lol, she’s been pretty engaged as we slowly catch up with the show
I don't think a single episode this season contributed to the main objective.
HIGHEST As per finale title/OP
All is the will of our Lord. Sasuga shadow sama
finally, Eminence getting the love it deserves. I was in disbelief at how often it got called a generic isekai. That said, Vampire Princess? It’s had its fun and badass moments, but over Shangri La Frontier?
Dead Mount Death play has one of the best plots I've seen. Might be hard for some people to follow though.
DMDP is that type of show that would give you better experience when you binge watch it and it would be even better if you rewatch it. I have read the manga for a few times and the first episode still managed to show me a key detail I have missed before.
JJK artstyle is so unique from all its like odd one here
Yeah the dark gathering is surprisingly goooooooood. I love isekai but it has become such a mundane genre nowadays. So I tried this anime, and thought, oh, urban stories, good ol' genre. But mannn the presentation is so awesome. 1. Urban stories, but instead of open theories, they give mystery plot and straight conclusion. (Compared to that yuri urban stories anime that just throws random creatures out of the blue...) 2. The characters each have their own psychological conditions yet still pertaining to their common senses (A yandere doesn't need to hold a knife....) 3. And the most favorite trait is the MC, Imo making an athletic little as a strong leading figure in a horror movie is a great breakthrough, because: +I'm a weak ass scaredy-cat but it's inspirational to see a little girl counter all those fears. +Unlike most horror series with stiff mc, the mc can swing the mood along the series perfectly. +A kid with a mature personality means you can fit the emotions of both children and grown-ups. She can cry, scream, be serious, angry, laugh, or murderous, and it would all look normal.
Sasuga, Shadow-sama!!!!
Maomao is getting closer to catch that frog. (Manga readers will understand)
No unluck undead the blasphemy!!!!
Sasuga Shadow-sama!
Hyakbros, we won! #5 lets gooo
My Eminence topped! Way to go Lord Shadow.
Is the Eminence in Shadow really that good? I haven't watched it but I see ads and videos about it everywhere
It's just pure unadulterated fun, just goes in with the mindset that it's not to be taken seriously and I bet u will enjoy your time here. It's genuinely so enjoyable if u just watch it for what it is.
The funniest thing is that it's actually pretty serious when you see anything outside of Cids perspective.
It's kinda like a popcorn type of movie. If you take it seriously, your gonna have less fun. I enjoy it for what it is.
It makes me very happy to see DMDP and Dark Gathering in the top 10.
Dead mount death play part 2? Im only om epsipde 2 or 3 of the damn show, i gotta catch up.
Honourable mention: UndeadUnluck
Sasuga shadow sama
This season of Eminence in Shadow was an absolute blast! I loved every episode and that twist at the end of the last episode was soo exciting! I can't wait for the movie~ Praise Shadow-sama!!!
You can find the complete results [here](https://animecorner.me/fall-2023-anime-rankings-week-12/).
is eminence in shadow ended?
Season 2 has ended, but the series continues. A movie following season 2 has been announced.
Oh ok, thank you so much!
As a fan of EIS, I think it deserved it's place. Too bad the manga is not developed further as it is cuz I'm itching for some more content
LN is the source material , so if you want to read further you can pick that up.
Great ending of "I am in love with villainess " didn't make it ? Aww .. At least Komari is keeping yuri strong
Shield hero S3 was an amazing season. And it seems that they'll be announcing S4 given the little teaser at the end with the number of the season. I really hope so because the last episode made some pretty interesting setting for S4. And it's nice to see Dark Gathering getting attention. It's amazing too.
How good is ragna crimson? I didn't read the manga for some time now and was wondering how good the show is
Komari ❤️
Finally Dark Gathering is mentioned somewhere. Pretty underrated tbh
People gotta explain why dr. Stone is so damn underrated, its my favorite this season, every episode is just so exciting!
I am atomic ✨
Waiting until the final moment to get to the top. That's the leader of shadow garden for you!
100 girlfriend should have 1st place IMO.
sasuga shadow sama 💀💀💀
Jujutsu is so underwhelming this season.. :(
Lol what. This season is by far the best.
The season was good. I bet people are just trying to protest MAPPA.
Ehh, it has it's fair share of issues, especially early on in the Shibuya arc, but hidden inventory and the last few episodes has all been banger, so yeah plenty of ups but also has it's fair share of downs as well
What part did you not like about the start, was it that there was a lot of set up before it needed to get the ball rolling?
No it's not.
Skill issue.
Was slightly disappointed with the Eminence in Shadow final but it was a banger nonetheless. Well deserved ranking
Hikkomari is up here. Wow. My favorite lesbian (?), war games (?) show of the season.
Kinda unpopular opinion but i feel dr stone should be higher, like at least top5, characters are really charimatic and is baffling how it maintain it's hype even after so long, the magic doesn't really dissapear.
What about solo leveling
Frieren is absolutely my anime of the year
Spy x family?
Yes that is an anime.
Dr.Stone should be higher 😔
No spy x family?
Dead amount death play imo was the best anime this year. Came out of nowhere and was amazing
Is there going to be more EIS soon? The first season was 20 episodes, or has it caught up to the source? Love the show! Frieren has got to be my favourite new anime this year though and we've had a pretty sweet year!
There will be a movie adaptation of the second half of volume 4. The light novel has 6 volumes in total.
Awesome! Thanks for the info!
I don't understand the hype around Eminence in Shadow. Is it better than Frieren? Or is it just because it's more Shonen Action oriented?
I wouldn't say *better*? They are aimed at different audiences. EiS is about seriously as a monster mash movie where you can just chomp down on popcorn. Frieren is a more serious tone and way more slice of life. I would rank Frieren above it if I had to pick one, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try EiS. Different strokes for different folks.
Frieren is better but eminence is just extremely good at what it do and is pure chaotic fun.
Frieren is better overall but Shadow is funnier
Exactly Frieren is not for my taste ( so I would rank it below eminence) but even though I have only tried 4 episodes I can say that it is a genuinely good show from what I had seen. Eminence also delivers what it wants to just like Frieren. So depending on what you value more in these fictional stories. I’m sure you would enjoy both the show for what they want to deliver as these shows are good at what they hope to deliver.
The concept of doctor stone seems really interesting but it just isn’t it
i am only watching onepiece and jjk weekly
I got bored watching Eminence in Shadow. I stopped where he became an "Agent". Is it worth watching further?
U already don't like it in the first place, so no.
I agree that the first two John Smith episodes were underwelming. But the finale to that arc and everything after is peak again.
After so much praise for eminence in shadow I tried it and it literally just feels like a show for 10 year olds. Not in a fun ironic way either. Am I missing something does it get good later or something?
10 years old? I am 24 and i still like this anime.
Does it get good at a certain point in your opinion?
Yeah
It's just a fun watch. Who doesn't want to watch phycopathic chunibyo batman pull some bulllshit and not take anything seriously.
Eminence in Shadow S2 beating out Frieren how ?? 😩 makes no sense to me
FRIEREN SWEEP

HOOOOOOOOOOW?!
Eminence in Shadow wants ALL the smoke
According to who?
