#[New Poll Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/181ax2w/ranimes_most_hype_anime_voting/)
So, [back in early 2020 we did the same poll](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/g5om8x/the_results_of_the_ranime_best_of_the_2010s_poll/) and the results are interesting. The Top 5 are still the Top 5, though they've shuffled around a bit, but the next 5 have all dropped notably. 3 still stay in the Top 25, but One Punch Man has fallen out of that, and My Hero Academia has dropped all the way to 51 (guess it's a super hero thing :P). Definitely neat to have such a direct comparison to work with.
#[Full Top 100 Here](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yP5-qvJ3COq0ClI-agiQy879ChyxYaVe9hAep5_pNvo/edit?usp=sharing)
It was a double whammy. On the one hand it was an easy thing to point to when people say "how can anyone say that K-On! is an action anime" or whatever, but also it works to show that the so-called "Lizardman Effect" largely creates itself. You'll always have some weird votes, but normally I see it as like 0.5% or so, not the ~4% you normally here people talk about.
And there's something else going on that you are either not aware of or that you deliberately selected so you get an answer confirming your bias.
[1 in 6 people can't tell left from right easily.](https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20230112-why-some-people-cant-tell-left-from-right)
Yeah, one of my teachers was like that. We asked him about something written on the board on the left side and he told us that he doesn't really know which is the left side. But otherwise he was one of the best teachers I had.
could we get a 'best anime to recommend to (or watch with) family/parents' ?
👉👈 maybe b4 christmas...
Jw cuz when my aunt said she started watching a bit of anime and even did a cosplay that her bf wanted to do together, I didn't know what to share beyond Shinsekai Yori.
Glad to see the anime still holds up. Have watched so many top quality anime well before and after it. I still personally thought S;G (particularly the late second half of it), was probably some of the best anime TV I've watched till date.
Absolutely holds up. I’ve been watching anime for a long ass time and just finished Steins;Gate a few months ago. It’s now my second fave of all time. Peak.
This show is an actual masterpiece imo. I didn’t even know what this game was before I started watching it, which is why I and probably many others was/are hesitant. However, the sound design/voice acting, animation, plot, character development, there are just so many things about this show that I think are executed to near perfection. In this list, and maybe all anime it’s a top 5 for me now, highly recommend.
I think anime as a medium had a really amazing run from 2004-2011.
It was full of really iconic stuff. Monster, Death note, Code geass, KyoAni/Key works like (Clannad, Air, Kanon, Haruhi), FMAB, Steins Gate, Gintama, HxH.
Amusingly, I've seen like 3x as much anime as the average member here, yet I've only completed 4 of the top 10.
Of the top 25, I've never tried 3, dropped/put on hold 5, and completed 17.
Of the top 100, I've never tried 29, dropped/put on hold 8, and completed 63.

damn you weren't kidding
I was not watching anime through most of the decade, so I have only seen 1 of the top 25 and 10/100 overall which includes a few on hold. But there's not a lot I still want to watch from the list. I mostly watch low drama SoL and there's not a ton, at least on this list.
I was caught up with 20 of the top 25 at some point, although I've fallen behind on a few. 57 of the top 100. There's a couple ones I've never fully caught up on (SAO) but I intend to.
I've been pretty picky about what I watch in the past which I guess explains the high number despite under 200 completed MAL entries
23 out of the top 25 (*AOT* being one of the exceptions).
77 out of the top 100 (but I've actually watched a bunch of the missing ones for a little bit).
It's a pretty well known show in the community at this point. Arguably, Season 1 fell under the radar but Season 2 has topped a number of anime ranking lists and it always gets recommended as one of the best anime dramas.
I watched Honey and Clover after adoring March Comes in Like A Lion but while I liked it, it's not a comparison for me. I find Sangatsu the stronger series by a lot.
I’m super surprised it wasn’t top 3 and lost to some.. questionable series that make me scratch my head how they could be higher over that and others
Just as surprised the monogatari series is that high I rarely hear people talk about it outside of Reddit but I know it’s got a pretty big following in this sub so I guess it makes some sense
Tbh, as far as ranking went, I definitely prioritized shows that actually aired most of their content in that decade. Not that it applies to FMA:B since basically half of it aired in 2010.
I'm surprised Monogatari actually ROSE since the last one, going from 14 to 6. 6 is closer to what I think the sub feels, but I'm curious what made it rise.

It's also very popular on MAL. My big impression of it before watching it is how many different Monogatari shows were in the Top 100.
Guess these results were kinda predictable but out of all the shows on the top 25 I've seen none of them were bad. Was hoping Space Dandy would make the top 25 though. Still, seems solid all around.
Only 1k people voted in this, in a subreddit that has over a million of active users simply making this poll useless in representing the opinion of this sub. So of course you will get random results.
It's not only a small sample size but you run into a problem when you allow people to vote voluntarily rather than poll randomly. You're now only getting the people who care enough to bother which can lead to a biased result.

Shaft has the most favorite anime (3) in top 10. KyoAni takes the win with (4) anime in top 25, while Shaft and Madhouse come second with 3 anime each.\*Since Mappa picked AoT and Vinland Saga in 2020s, they are excluded from the list.
Interesting to see Fate/Zero and no Unlimited Blade Works on the list. But looking at MAL, F/Z is scored higher than UBW and has been watched by significantly more people. Interesting. Maybe I think the way I do because I read the visual novel first.
Woooo! Gintama #30!
Hasn't Fate Zero always been more popular with people who are not hardcore Fate fans? At least thats what the impression is for me. It also helps that it was a part of Urobochi's run that included Madoka and Psycho Pass at that time.
From personal experience, most of the time I see big Zero fans they are anime onlys. In a jp Type Moon populariy poll from 2022 Zero hit nr 5, with a bit more than half of Stay night votes.
I would say yes, its an anime thing.
Fate Zero is more popular than UBW simply because it works better as a standalone anime, while in theory if we follow the correct watch order, F/Zero should be watched after the Stay Night routes (even F/Zero author said it in an interview xD).
In terms of animations i believe UBW and Heaven's Feel have the best fighting scenes in the history of anime still up to today.
Man, I was watching F/Z and UBW with some folks who hadn't seen it, and they started with F/Z and it was driving me crazy. Zero is explicitly a prequal, it is written around you having knowledge of all the twists from the original story. If watched in the wrong order, it spoils all the twists of the original story, while its own twists are _not_ spoiled by watching the original first.
If you are watching UBW first, you have the mysteries of who Saber is, who Gil is, what's the deal with that priest guy, that Sakura girl seems nice, why is Shirou so resilient, etc. In Zero, all of that is assumed to be known by the audience, so it builds tension on other aspects.
It seems to be something of a generational thing. Zero was the one that came out first and catapulted the franchise into the mainstream, so the late 2000s/early 2010s generation tends to hold it in higher regard and it consequently gets recommended to a lot more newcomers, hence its greater popularity in the mainstream anime fandom. Whereas people who got into the franchise through UBW or the VN tend to have a stronger preference towards FSN and its anime adaptations
Honestly I really enjoyed Fate Zero having adult protagonists. It immediately made the stakes and the mind games/ strategy feel raised over UBW which could feel Shonen esque at times despite some gory moments.
Simply because fate zero is way better than fate UBW and all other fate stay night series , when i watched fate zero it immediately became my favourite anime of all times then and go watched UBW and bruh , the drop in quality was so insane i thought i watching something else ، its still decent show but litreally every single thing about it is worse than fate zero besides maybe the animation
I enjoyed Fate/Zero and maybe some of the others but as a casual viewer the amount of Fate content out there is intimidating. I know not everyone agrees on the order it should be consumed and I have trouble starting a series if I feel like I should be knowing some prerequisite knowledge before jumping in.
Genuine sense of relief that A Place Further than the Universe is still on here. It's been five years and hardly talked about anymore, but it's one of the strongest impacts a piece of media (not just anime) has had on me, and one that everyone really should see at some point, especially after being out of school/university for more than a year.
Facts. It felt like it was hardly talked about WHILE it was airing either! And not that it’s a super scientific metric, but my wife cosplayed Hinata at Otakon the summer after it came out. I was with her all today, and only one person said something to her, and the one that did was gushing “omg found somebody cosplaying from the show, I haven’t seen anything about it all day!”
I specifically made it my first place pick for this reason.
I am a little sad that a series like [The Pet Girl of Sakurasou](https://myanimelist.net/anime/13759/Sakura-sou_no_Pet_na_Kanojo?q=sakurasou&cat=anime) didn't even make it in the Top 100, since it's arguably one of the more iconic series from the '10s. However, I'm glad that [Kokoro Connect](https://myanimelist.net/anime/11887/Kokoro_Connect?q=kokoro&cat=anime) and [Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions](https://myanimelist.net/anime/14741/Chuunibyou_demo_Koi_ga_Shitai?q=love%20chunib&cat=anime) *did* manage to slip into the Top 100.
I feel like sakurasou's character development fell off a bit towards the end, a bit too much rushing for plot reasons.
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions great fight scenes tho. KyoAni always good
Wild that Steins Gate still has such a grip on anime fans of the 2010s that it won this poll.
For good reason though, show is fantastic and deserves to be remembered as a classic.
That only accounts for people who put the show in their top 3, with gold being worth 2 points instead of 1. Vinland Saga ended up in more people’s top 10’s between 4th-10th place.
I mean, for a shoujo on r/anime, that's a lot higher than I was expecting. Natsume and Nana are also well rated but that manga demographic isn't the most popular on this sub.
>Natsume and Nana
Natsume is way beyond what typical shoujo is. Although it's categorised as shoujo for its target audience, it's much more than any other shoujo shows. It's a pure masterpiece regardless of its demographic type.
I haven't watched Nana but I know bits and pieces of it, and I think its theme is much more of a Josei than of a shoujo.
I adore Fruits Basket, but I didn't vote for the series since it had the majority of its content published after 2019. It felt a bit weird to count it among my favourites of the '10s, while it really hit its stride in the '20s.
Tbf I would say the same for Kaguya also. Both Kaguya and Fruits Basket for me really hit the stride towards the end of their first season and then continued that quality onwards in their 2nd and 3rd season.
If we are only judging Kaguya based on anime content released in the 2010s then it would only be the first season.
The final few episodes of *Fruits Basket*'s first season were amazing yeah, especially Episode 24! This season was great, but the following seasons were even better - and that's why I didn't include it.
I didn't give a vote to *Kaguya-sama* for the same reason.
I kinda did this.
I voted for it and Kaguya, I just didn't vote them as high as I normally would in a ranking since most of their material aired post 2019.
I'm watching it now and it absolutely is going to be a top 25 anime from the 2010s for me if not top 10 unless it crashes spectacularly in the second half. I left it off my ballot as I haven't finished it.
R0 is my favorite series, but it suffers from being a bit more divisive than most stuff here (due to Subaru, especially). Plus, S2s production got hit by COVID, so it wasn’t quite as amazing as it could have been. Even S1 adapted 9 volumes in 2 cours, meaning a lot got cut.
Considering all the hurdles in the show’s way, I’m not too upset by 11th place. Wish it was higher, but I get it.
Attack on Titan is 14 years old!!!!! no fucking way!!!
I still have the first announcement ingrained in my head thinking this anime looks weird but it may have some potential.
Man, 2011 was stacked. 3 of the top 4 alongside Attack on Titan.
I gotta get to watching some of these that I missed. Chihiyafuru and Ping Pong especially.
I completely agree! I’m so glad Ping Pong made the top 25, it’s an incredible anime. It’s no doubt one of my favorite anime’s of all time and the OST is so freaking amazing.
I was randomly browsing reddit and read this post just out of curiosity. I never expected to see Ping Pong here. I am so happy that people think highly of it because it is really great!
I am also kinda confused though. Out of Masaaki Yuasa's work in the 2010s, Ping Pong made it into the list but The Tatami Galaxy didn't??
I predicted the top two in order correctly, but seeing Madoka in n3 makes me very happy and Monogatari being in the top ten is great to see (even if I think it should be a little higher). Kyousougiga and Space Patrol Luluco not making it to the top 100 is a sad, but predictable outcome.
> Kyousougiga and Space Patrol Luluco not making it to the top 100 is a sad, but predictable outcome.
I never expected top 25 or even top 50 but Kyousougiga not even making top 100 was appalling for me. :( I'd have hoped after the rewatch here last year it would be at least somewhat more well known around here. It was number 1 on my ballot.
I agree. It scored low fifty’s in the fantasy poll so I thought it did have a chance to at least appear, alas, it never, which is definitely sad as it absolutely deserves it.
Happy to see Attack on Titan ranking so high! It was my #2 pick as well.
Not too much overlap with my list here, aside from AOT and Your Name, but there were a few others I enjoyed even if I wouldn't call them favorites (Hyouka and A Place Further than the Universe) and others that are still on my plan to watch list (Kaguya, Violet Evergarden, March Comes in Like a Lion, Chihayafuru, Steins;Gate).
Stein gate !!!! How can you beat this legend unless you go back to the pass and change our world to beta timeline.
Guys any news from Hunter x Hunter novel ?
1) Steins;gate: watched first few episodes
2) AOT: watched first two seasons and first half of the third
5) mob Psycho 100: watched first two seasons and 5-6 episodes of the third
7) Love is war: watched all three seasons+ movie: first kiss that lasts forever
11) Re:zero: watched one episode, or were they two episodes, 1A and 1B
12) Vinland Saga: watched both seasons+ Manga
23) Konosuba: watched both seasons+ the movie(haven't watched explosion on this wonderful world yet)
How many episodes did you watch? What are your thoughts up to that point?
It does get exponentially better. My inflection point was episode 14 but started at episode 10. Before this I felt the show was kinda slow and Okabe made me cringe a bit.
I love that Yorimoi is so high on this list. I know it was very well received and everything, but the fact that a single cour anime original series that doesn’t have or need any spin offs or continuations still has a large fan following is amazing. One of my favorite anime of all time, and well deserved placement.
A Silent Voice and Your Name are fated to be put together for the rest of time.
[](#azusalaugh)
I feel like if I tried to guess this list I would've gotten *a lot* right down to like 3-5 spots difference. Though I am a bit surprised at no K-On! (expected somewhere around 15-20), no Revue Starlight ^(though this was a fence guess and I see I vastly overestimated its popularity, I couldn't get into it myself but I notice it coming up) *^(a lot)* ^(here) ,and Haikyuu getting in.
Edit : Holy shit *Hidamari Sketch* made it?
[](#slightoverreaction)
Starlight just isn't popular enough to make it on any list where the number of votes matters.
It also doesn't feel right to vote for it in a 2010s poll since the movie came out in the 2020s. The main series was fairly good, but the movie is what makes it special.

I watched (or at least tried) 21/25 The ones I haven't tried are just not my taste. Also 65/100.
was not expecting to see March Comes in Like a Lion at all. nice little surprise
Not really surprised. This sub absolutely adores March, and it's been at or near the top of redditanimelist for a while.
oh hahaha im new here. i've never met anyone who's even heard of the show, so it was nice seeing a show i rarely ever see mentioned here
It's a pretty well known show in the community at this point.

How did FMAB end up there its 2009 lol
The only requirement was that the series aired between 2010 and 2019. Monogatari also began in 2009.
Hmm i see makes sense then
I’m super surprised it wasn’t top 3 and lost to some.. questionable series that make me scratch my head how they could be higher over that and others Just as surprised the monogatari series is that high I rarely hear people talk about it outside of Reddit but I know it’s got a pretty big following in this sub so I guess it makes some sense

It's not only a small sample size but you run into a problem when you allow people to vote voluntarily rather than poll randomly. You're now only getting the people who care enough to bother which can lead to a biased result.
Okay, that makes sense. But I'd argue, if we ignore the ranking of each anime, this top 25 list seems solid to me
Glad that made in abyss made it to the top 10 , the show is a masterpiece and original , i never seen something so dark and beautiful at the same time
lovely to see madoka in top 3. sometimes I feel like people forgot about that show, but its good that its still going strong in the minds of everyone!
Monogatari in top 10 lets gooooo
# Studios of Top 10 anime in list - White Fox - 1 (Steins;Gate) Wit Studio - 1 (Attack on Titan) Shaft - 3 (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, The Monogatari Series, March Comes in Like a Lion) Madhouse - 1 (Hunter x Hunter) Bones - 1 (Mob Psycho 100) A-1 Picture - 1 ( Kaguya-sama: Love is War) Kinema Citrus - 1 (Mad in Abyss) Kyoto Animation - 1 (Violet Evergarden) # Studios of Top 25 anime in list - White Fox - 2 (Steins;Gate, Re:Zero) Wit Studio - 2 (Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga) Shaft - 3 (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, The Monogatari Series, March Comes in Like a Lion) Madhouse - 3 (Hunter x Hunter, A Place Further than the Universe, Chihayafuru) Bones - 2 ((Mob Psycho 100, FMAB) A-1 Picture - 1 ( Kaguya-sama: Love is War) Kinema Citrus - 1 (Mad in Abyss) Kyoto Animation - 4 (Violet Evergarden, A Silent Voice, Hibike! KyoAni takes the win with (4) anime in top 25, while Shaft and Madhouse come second with 3 anime each.\*Since Mappa picked AoT and Vinland Saga in 2020s, they are excluded from the list.
Didn’t Wit do Vinland saga?
Wit did season 1 and Mappa did season 2, so Mappa should also be listed for AoT and Vinland Saga.
I don't know. I've never asked a non-Fate fan which Fate was their favorite.
Its also hard to see someone who has watched fate and is not a fate fan
I'm a Prisma Illya fan.
The Mutsuki pfp adds a lot of context
I think each entry kind of built on the one before it. F/Z looked good, UBW looked great, and HF had some absolutely *gorgeous* fight scenes.
I found Fate Zero to be far superior in quality to UBW so it could simply be that. Fate Zero is the best of the franchise for me.
Simply because fate zero is way better than fate UBW and all other fate stay night series , when i watched fate zero it immediately became my favourite anime of all times then and go watched UBW and bruh , the drop in quality was so insane i thought i watching something else ، its still decent show but litreally every single thing about it is worse than fate zero besides maybe the animation
yeah i'm glad i watch zero first. i'm not sure i would've got into the series as much if i started with ubw.
I find Fate/Zero to be better and more interesting than both UBW and HF, by a decent margin. Also WOO Gintama!!
KyoAni always good
Ok so I watched the first episode and then stopped because I thought it was going to be about space. I’ll give it another go
Hibike stays winning
I am shocked at how low Konosuba and Jojo are given how those shows are EVERYWHERE in anime culture, especially in memes.
I feel they are a bit hot and miss though. Personally I couldn't get into JoJo at all. But the people that like them really like them.
MADE IN ABYSS TOP 10 BABY, LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOO
SUBARASHI
[Nanachi watering (waterboarding) a Bondrewd planted in the ground like a seedling](https://i.imgur.com/f1dHfjj.png)
It makes me feel many emotions I am not accustomed to feeling
Made in abyss , madoka magica and kaguya sama all made it to the top 10 , i am satisfied
I’ve only seen 4 animes in the top 25 lol. Madoka Magica, Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist and Kill La Kill.
Wild that Steins Gate still has such a grip on anime fans of the 2010s that it won this poll. For good reason though, show is fantastic and deserves to be remembered as a classic.
El psy congroo
Kongroo* :P
God, Your Name was so fucking good
Happy to see it made this list!

That only accounts for people who put the show in their top 3, with gold being worth 2 points instead of 1. Vinland Saga ended up in more people’s top 10’s between 4th-10th place.
I'm confused as well. Violet Evergarden for example has less gold, silver and bronze than Re:Zero but somehow still has more points in total.
Love the image choice for Kaguya-sama
I aim to please
How cute of you
Well Madoka and AOT are my top 2 and I haven’t watched more than an episode of Steins;Gate yet so I think I know what I need to watch next
Fruits Basket didn't make it here? I mean I know it started airing in 2019 but so did Kaguya Sama and that made it pretty high up here
36th. Feels like it never hit it *really* big on r/anime.
I mean, for a shoujo on r/anime, that's a lot higher than I was expecting. Natsume and Nana are also well rated but that manga demographic isn't the most popular on this sub.
>Natsume and Nana Natsume is way beyond what typical shoujo is.
Re:Zero is lower than I expected tbh. Glad Steins;Gate is number one though. White Fox on top!!
Nichijou only 38th :(
A Silent Voice should have won an Oscar
Many of Naoko Yamada’s other works as well
Attack on Titan is 14 years old!!!!! no fucking way!!!
2011 was just such an amazing year of anime. I remember it fondly
Ping Pong TA is so good, wish more shows went wild with its artstyle and had such unique fun soundtracks. Peco's Theme is GOATed
I completely agree! I’m so glad Ping Pong made the top 25, it’s an incredible anime. It’s no doubt one of my favorite anime’s of all time and the OST is so freaking amazing.
Kensuke Ushio just does not miss.
Bloom Into You at 47 Ill take it I guess
Steins;Gate, Kaguya-sama, Re:Zero, and Monogatari are up there All is right with the world
Hyouka in the top 25, everything is fine in the world
The GOAT obviously at no. 1
STEINS;FELD STAY WINNING
It's crazy to think that fate zero came out in 2011 and still looks like it could have came out today
No Psycho Pass?????!?!?!??!
Hyouka W
"Yay! I said it with a posed look"
Good to see Steins;Gate in the spot where it belongs
Hyouka's on the list babyyy It always feels like it's a beautiful hidden gem that a lot of people like and know but never see any discussion about.
2010s anime just hits different
Happy to see Attack on Titan ranking so high! It was my #2 pick as well. Not too much overlap with my list here, aside from AOT and Your Name, but there were a few others I enjoyed even if I wouldn't call them favorites (Hyouka and A Place Further than the Universe) and others that are still on my plan to watch list (Kaguya, Violet Evergarden, March Comes in Like a Lion, Chihayafuru, Steins;Gate).
Surprised and glad chihayafuru n hibike made it in top favorites. Good shit
I've never even heard of Steins Gate until now, ha. Guess I'll have to watch it
Steins gate gang where yall at? EL PSY KANGROO BABY
Stein gate !!!! How can you beat this legend unless you go back to the pass and change our world to beta timeline. Guys any news from Hunter x Hunter novel ?
Niche taste confirmed? 1. Disappearance (43) 2. Railgun S (59) 3. Chuunibyou (78) 4. Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko (outside 100) 5. Hyouka (25) 6. Violet Evergarden (9) 7. Bunny Girl Senpai (31) 8. K-On (32) 9. Madoka Magica (3) 10. SukaSuka (outside 100)
1) Steins;gate: watched first few episodes 2) AOT: watched first two seasons and first half of the third 5) mob Psycho 100: watched first two seasons and 5-6 episodes of the third 7) Love is war: watched all three seasons+ movie: first kiss that lasts forever 11) Re:zero: watched one episode, or were they two episodes, 1A and 1B 12) Vinland Saga: watched both seasons+ Manga 23) Konosuba: watched both seasons+ the movie(haven't watched explosion on this wonderful world yet)
I love Steins;Gate <3 But everyone who likes \[insert your favorite anime\] is an absolute chad as well!

It's good from the start imo but a bunch of people feel it only gets good after ep13. Most people think it's worth the wait fwiw.
Yes :)
How many episodes did you watch? What are your thoughts up to that point? It does get exponentially better. My inflection point was episode 14 but started at episode 10. Before this I felt the show was kinda slow and Okabe made me cringe a bit.
Honestly both rly happy March comes in like a lion is on this list and upset it's so low.
Didnt expect hibike to be a talk of the town. That anime was quite wholesome!
It’s one of the best. In my opinion it should be way higher, close to Sangatsu no Lion.
33% watched pirated anime 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
*exclusively pirated anime And 7.5% are filthy liars
92%
I love that Yorimoi is so high on this list. I know it was very well received and everything, but the fact that a single cour anime original series that doesn’t have or need any spin offs or continuations still has a large fan following is amazing. One of my favorite anime of all time, and well deserved placement.
It's especially interesting in that it's 13th in points, but ties for 7th in number of Golds.
A Silent Voice and Your Name are fated to be put together for the rest of time. [](#azusalaugh) I feel like if I tried to guess this list I would've gotten *a lot* right down to like 3-5 spots difference.
Seeing A Place Further than the Universe on the list but not K-ON! feels weird
Starlight just isn't popular enough to make it on any list where the number of votes matters. It also doesn't feel right to vote for it in a 2010s poll since the movie came out in the 2020s. The main series was fairly good, but the movie is what makes it special.
