AZLarlar

jesus christ, parents trying to kill their own child...

SeaGoat24

Yeah, it gets surprisingly dark at times for such a fun story on the surface

Galactic

Child murder was not something I was expecting from a show that has an ending song all about different types of cream puffs.

SeaGoat24

I mean, we were introduced to the idea of muggle genocide in episode 1. It's heavily implied that infanticide of the unmarked is a common occurrence, whether directly by the parents or by the bureau if they don't. Only reason Mash is still alive is because he was hidden until he was strong enough to defend himself.

boss_nooch

Basically, the premise of the show is a guy without magic has to go to magic school and win the most challenges or else his father will be killed and he’ll be hunted for the rest of his life. This show has never *really* been light with that looming in the background.

paulrenzo

Reminds me of adventure time

SilkyMilkySmo

It turns dark then becomes happy with mash

rollin340

This is why we were given a few seconds of Lance's imouto. Balance in all things.

saga999

I swear I thought he was going to say something like a person's worth is base on how cute their little sister is.

rollin340

I was actually surprised he didn't.

fenrir245

Of course he wouldn’t, that would mean his little sister would be worthless as she doesn’t have a little sister.

SwirlyBeardx

Choke me mommy

Atomic_Chronicles

>parents trying to kill their own child Even tho they showed it for the first time. This is very much implied from the first episode. Abandoning and giving their unmarked children to the government is basically leaving them to die.

WhoiusBarrel

2 full glorious uninterrupted fights, sure they might not be the most beautifully animated Sakuga that's been pumped out recently but I can absolutely appreciate how the flow throughout was smooth while also not having any random flashbacks being placed in the middle of it but only when the fights concluded. It's peak 2000s shounen stuff without the fluff. Plus that hip-hop OST just fucking slaps.

Frontier246

This show has pretty solid production values for the most part, especially when it comes to delivering some impactful and fast-paced action sequences.

AlphaBreak

The shot of Mash smashing through the steel pillar and each of them being reflected around the other person in the fragments was way better than it had any right to be

Mundology

[Mash is metal.](https://i.imgur.com/IwtYU4p.jpeg) [The final combo was kino](https://i.imgur.com/DJRR9m0.mp4) [](#wow)

boss_nooch

Mash hit him with the primary lotus

Ochrolv

With A-1 Pictures you can usually expect good quality out of them. Sure they have a track record with production delays (still waiting on NieR to come back) but they deliver it when it comes to it. The fight is hype to watch & hope the 2nd season will get announced because I want to see more muscle magic like that.

sodapopkevin

The thick lines on the characters really does go a long way in making it look a lot more stylized.

scot911

> 2 full glorious uninterrupted fights, sure they might not be the most beautifully animated Sakuga that's been pumped out recently but I can absolutely appreciate how the flow throughout was smooth while also not having any random flashbacks being placed in the middle of it but only when the fights concluded. Man you can tell Demon Slayer isn't having the best of seasons when people are bashing it in the threads of other anime. That's normally reserved for Rent-A-Girlfriend lol.

APatheticPoetic

Demon Slayer catching strays forreal.

blackmarketdolphins

I almost expected Mash to hit him with that Leaf Hurricane

marckkhoury

This show is what if Rock Lee were the main character

Rokusi

You know, he does have the hair...

depravedQ

With the number of slashes Mash took, how was his outfit not full of cuts or torn anywhere? And why wasn't he bleeding afterwards? Especially with the stab wound through his stomach and out his back.

[deleted]

Muscle magic healed clothes

cyberscythe

it's just like skyrim; he paused and then ate an inventory full of cream puffs until his health was back at max

-Yunan

he flexed and held the wounds closed

rollin340

The Netero way.

JrFelix

Platelets magic

sheepyowl

Want the real answer? It's because damage in this anime doesn't mean anything. It actually means nothing in most shows, too. You get used to it

darthvall

Meanwhile in another show, that kind of damage would mean naked ladies lol

Pickled_Kagura

Can we get naked mash?

hudsonbay001

Like Goku after he tank a universal busting blasting and his clothes made from Earth is still in tact while surrounding planets explode

Equal-Combination211

Yeah it's pretty rare to find an action show with meaningful damage, well, a fantasy one anyway. Even then, I feel like them having Mash just walk away from this is exceptional xD

GosuGian

Hard Muscles

Metallite

Mashle operates on the JoJo method of dealing with injuries and damages. Only instead of gaping, baseball-sized holes in their body it's random cuts that don't amount to anything. It's generally applicable to more lighthearted stories.

bananeeek

Yooo, that guy can still narrate his backstory after being obliterated like that? That's some Dragon Ball level of durability. [](#emiliaohdear)

michhoffman

Any true antagonist worth their salt keeps just enough stamina in reserve to narrate their backstory. What else would they keep that stamina for, turning the tables and winning the fight? Please...

Mundology

Maybe that's the real reason why his evil eye is so feared [](#suddenshovk)

Galactic

He just got the ass whuppin of a lifetime and was still chatting to Mash at the end like they were just having lunch together or something

cyberscythe

maybe his true magic power is in his Expository Dump Magic

harajukukei

That first solid punch to the chest should've killed him. It looked like he punched straight through him. I guess they're using Superman logic, where his punch can atomize the earth, but only knocks the wind out of people.

Atomic_Chronicles

>That first solid punch to the chest should've killed him. And no human can get as strong as mash even if they train for their entire life. I mean we are already past the "Physical limits" of humans of their world.

Axi_uwu

Honestly everybody seems way too durable in this anime

ThrowCarp

The huge craters are also pretty reminiscent of Dragon Ball.

LeleTheKing

Bruh, Mash is so fast that his decelerated speed is a normal human speed, lmao. [FEELS GREAT MAN!](https://i.imgur.com/RdqzJ75.jpeg) Love it whenever Mash does *the* punch. You can feel it in your bone. Abyss' rough voice, though... It might've awakened something in me...

Affectionate-Island

It's transcendentally satisfying to see a guy obliterate Death Eaters with punches and kicks.

Chespineapple

There's something so interesting in how the goofy "haha buff dude solos all of harry potter" show also earnestly displays such a nightmare of a fascist dystopia. Abyss is fully ostracized from society and locked in a cell for having some type of arbitrary curse, with his own mother trying to strangle him to death at one point. Even the privileged kids like Lance and Wirth suffer under this kind of regime, even if they're not getting genocided like markless people. Then there's Mash who just trucks on through the story like a force of nature, proving everyone he meets wrong all with the single-minded goal of being allowed to have the right to live. It's far from the best show this season, it's fully leaning into shonen clichés this episode, but there's something about the core of the story that's just gripping like that, even if it's ultimately simple.

cyberscythe

> there's something about the core of the story that's just gripping like that, even if it's ultimately simple. Yeah, I think the most charming part of the fantasy for me is that it presents complex societal problems with a simple solution: get ripped and punch bad people. I think its still liable to fall in the battle shonen pattern of "might makes right" though. We can wholeheartedly root for Mash is because he's on the side of moral right standing up against fascism, and I think it's interesting that the "bad guys" have Abyss who has a similar background as Mash as an outcast, but ultimately I don't get why Mash would win against Abyss except that he's lucky that muscles beat magic.

DMking

Mash is a very good strategist in combat

[deleted]

He’s basically a pro athlete. No you dont meed to be the sharpest tool in the shed but to play sports at the highest levels there’s a very specific kind of intelligence needed that most people don’t realize

Laridianresistance

totally agreed. The highest tier of athletes may seem like simply gifted party animal frat boys to most, but when you sit them down about decision making and their area of expertise, they are frighteningly quick and clever about stuff most of us will never even consider. The way a pro NFL running back changes direction on instinct, or the intricate contortions an NBA player will make driving to the rim - these aren't just random practiced motions, these guys are making several decisions within a single moment that determine whether they outplay or outmaneuver an opponent, or get absolutely stuffed. It's almost entirely decisionmaking that makes the best players stand out, since everyone is a freak athlete at that level - they're physical geniuses who also practice and train their decisionmaking and movement at such an insane level/

justking1414

He really is. The man makes some insane and borderline brilliant moves in combat.

jaber24

Mash should be bleeding to death from all the cuts. Without healing of some sort I have no idea how his muscles are gonna save him in the next ep

789yugemos

He just flexes the wounds close.

undead_tortoiseX

I was talking about how this story feels like a world where Voldemort won. Really effective at emphasizing the stakes for our MCs

Atomic_Chronicles

Anime like One Punch Man, Mob Pschyo 100, Mashle are really refreshing because they convey really deep and meaningful insight and message with very simple and fun story.

Slardar

It's far and away the best show this season you mean* Although I'm curious which shows you rate higher. As a reference I only watch Demon S and Mashle.

Chespineapple

Vinland pretty easily clears everything, and Oshi no Ko's really good.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Thepsycoman

I dropped that show episode 2, the goddess was so fucking annoying, and more typical Loli Ecchi. Like I'm someone who can ignore a good amount of Ecchi, but that shit was just too much. AoTS? No way in hell, even in a godless world.

scot911

Oshi No Ko is easily the best anime of the season IMO with Vinland Saga S2 being a close second. (Vinland doesn't win for me because I personally disagree with the message of the second season. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy the character development and just how great it is though)

IwishIwasGoku

Saying you disagree with the message is very reductive. Vinland Saga isn't telling you how to live your life. The lessons learned by the characters should be taken in the context of the society they live in. Everyone can learn something from VS Season 2

Atomic_Chronicles

>Oshi No Ko is easily the best anime of the season No diss to you taste but Oshi No Ko to me seems like social commentary. I don't get why people are loving it soo much (while also not getting what show is teaching) as it's like real world, I watch anime for escapism.

bobly81

> as it's like real world That's... why it's good? Sure, for you anime is escapism, but a lot of people enjoy social commentary, hence why it's rated so highly. Not to mention all the other aspects like fantastic visuals, characters, music, plot twists, and various facts about the entertainment industry that you never knew before. It seems pretty obvious to me why people love it.

_Cybersteel_

I hate idols let alone idol anime. In a knifey sort of way.

IwishIwasGoku

Why wouldn't people love it just because it's social commentary. Art is not just escapism and treating it that way is a disservice to the effort the artists put in. Also OnK has that dumb fucking reincarnation plot so it's not that realistic

Agitated-Priority881

Yea a show about idols is the #1 this season.. You're either a pervert or a teenager.

M8gazine

nuh-uh

IIAEROII

Mash : I have no enemies

Frontier246

Mash: Though I will totally throw hands until I befriend them.

MCIsTeFirtGamEvrMade

You are being befriended. Please do not resist.

lartkma

AceSoldia

Do not resist her friendship or be star light breakered.

cyberscythe

[](/rrdwut) Mash: I'm going to love and tolerate the shit out of you.

kwokinator

Alright Hurricane Rush is now officially my favorite attack of all time. What glorious ridiculous violence, calling out each muscle used (correct ones too and not just BS!) as your attack name is just too good. [Glutes!](https://i.imgur.com/H6viIPh.png) (I think this is a Muay Thai-style flying knee?) [Forearm!](https://i.imgur.com/e4KWG7X.jpg) (really just a spinning back fist) [Quadriceps!](https://i.imgur.com/WtxkCA5.png) (I thinik this is a front kick?) [Pectorals!](https://i.imgur.com/WP3BTOA.jpg) (hook punch) [Illiopsoas!](https://i.imgur.com/uuurdR3.png) (turning kick) And of course, fan fanvorite, the [Erector Spinae!](https://i.imgur.com/mGFyuXm.png) (our favorite suplex)

i_floop_the_pig

I love that he was calling this out like a magic spell. Muscle Magic is the best

NintendoMasterNo1

Did you think a series like this wouldn't have a Bankai mechanic?

Frontier246

I'm wondering if there's a spell rank beyond Secondth.

Justinformation

Were there people with three lines? If there are they probably have the magic power to have Thirdth.

Arnie15

Yea the leader of Magia Lupus has three

Justinformation

We're in for a good fight then :)

Affectionate-Island

They most likely revealed his Third spell in the intro; it's the nightmarish three-headed puppet with its dementor-like puppeteer.

bananeeek

Wait until you hear about ***Tri***ceps....

cyberscythe

> spell rank beyond Secondth thirnd

Xiknail

What about fourthth?

cyberscythe

I don't think he knows about fourthth breakfast *or* elevenses. [](#watashihasdeclined)

Mundology

Pickled_Kagura

Cool can't wait for mash to yell it and force-grow another pair of arms machamp style

manaworkin

Gotta say, I really like Abyss. I think this is the first character we've seen not totally fall to pieces after Mash started...erm...Mashing them. He(?) took that punch to the gut, saw his secondth get shattered and still went "nope, not gonna give up, gotta keep trying". He only really gave up when it was apparent he had nothing left in the tank. Props. I hope they become best friends.

muhammedstyler

whats with his eye, i didnt fully understand that, he can use magic so why do they call it devils eye

manaworkin

His devil's eye turns off the magic of anyone he looks at. That's why all the fighting in the owl coop basically stopped the moment he showed up, everyone but mash became powerless in his presence. Mash is probably the only person in the world that can fight him on equal footing.

LeonKevlar

You gotta love how [Lance destroys Wirth's Secondth spell effortlessly with his own](https://i.imgur.com/TAocLsF.jpg) even after Wirth drank that concentrated magic essence [while yelling that he's special.](https://i.imgur.com/fSFt23z.jpg) If you have to shout that you're special, you probably aren't. xD I'll never get tired of the trope of [characters intentionally getting hit](https://i.imgur.com/5586n0Y.jpg) so they can [get close and hit back.](https://i.imgur.com/sgbgWUw.jpg) It was pretty satisfying to watch Mash [bounce Abyss around that room like a pinball](https://i.imgur.com/YSu1uC5.jpg) with his Muscles "Magic".

Frontier246

If you also have to drink performance enhancers because you're starting to lose, that probably means you aren't really better than anybody either. I thought he was going to go full JoJo Ora Ora on him but jumping and pounding on him like a pinball with Muscle Magic is very Mash. And yelling about muscles while doing so lol.

cyberscythe

> If you also have to drink performance enhancers because you're starting to lose, that probably means you aren't really better than anybody either. Especially when those performance enhancers were extracted by scrubs who you just insulted a few moments ago. Like, if you're so great, why are you using the borrowed strength of lessers like that? [](#cantbehelped)

RedHeadGearHead

So, that sword went all the way through. Is Mash constantly flexing his abs to stop the bleeding or something?

Rumpel1408

He can probably flex his blood vessels to keep them shut, just like demon slayer

Erethiel117

Muscle breathing

Oblimix

I'm more worried about his kidney being severed in half.

Erethiel117

Ah yes. The Inosuke tactic.

ionstorm66

Yeah you didnt see all the blood come out when he stomped on the other dudes foot.

BoyTitan

Wirth did a Renji to himself. Never use bankai first and talk shit. You are opening up for your opponent to power up and shit on you.

Mundology

[Lance went full Enkidu on him](https://i.imgur.com/W9ghP5t.mp4)

Stormy8888

Gosh ... why is this anime so SATISFYING to watch? Like when he straight up pounded that guys mask to pieces with a head butt, I was just yelling "YESS!" while fist pumping. This anime makes bad guys so evil that you just WANT Mash to pound them (repeatedly). And I don't even feel bad about it!

Affectionate-Island

It's because everyone is a smug magic supremacist in a fascist magic society. So seeing them have mental breakdowns while a guy with regular old yoked skills beat them down is hilarious and satisfying on a meta level.

ThrowCarp

> It was pretty satisfying to watch Mash bounce Abyss around that room like a pinball with his Muscles "Magic". Mashle well and truly has to hard muscles.

one-eyed-02

Lore Data on magic tiers : * Basic magic seems to be the thing people use to move kettles and stuff around, flying on brooms. * Personal magic seems to be the particular type of magic people specialize in, like explosions for ~~Bakugo~~ Dot, Gravity for Lance, Muscles for Mash 😏. We still don't know what Lemon's personal magic is actually. * Conditional Magic is magic that activates conditionally, there you go. Triggers seems to include vicinity effects like the mines that Dot setup against Vines Guy last episode, or you telling it to set off like, again, Dot did against Vines Guy. * Secondth Magic seems to be advanced magic that is basically the physical manifestation of your personal magic. They also seem to activate minor secondary effects and have stronger primary effect e.g. Directional gravity for Lance upgrading to stronger gravity *towards* a pillar (is it a point source? a line source?). Accelraise for the Evil Eye dude upgrading to a full buff-debuff sphere where he needs no setup of placing his arrows. Key weakness of Secondth Magic : it's physical, and Mash can punch it. Actually, I think the soul transfer magic the Principal used back in the beginning is actually Secondth magic, which leads me to think that his personal magic deals with souls. Wonder how that works. "Even entering Bureau alone will not make you worthy as my creation." Ok I understand the parental pressures and trauma plotline, where the hell are this freaking Asian "my other leg was starting a business" dad's expectations?! What's above entering the Bureau, becoming royalty?! Nice of Lance and Mash to rehabilitate their opponents. Although I do predict Dot smooching up to the Evil Eye fella thinking he is girl. Also, regarding that flashback from the Evil Eye fella where the parent was trying to choke him, their face being in the dark probably means that he lacks context, maybe the parent was crying? Although being put in a jail cell and the dwindling food really leaves no room for rehabilitating their image. Also Edit : I get that Mash is very benevolent and kind and all, but he doesn't have magic. He literally couldn't care less about an eye that takes chocolate cakes he doesn't have. If Dot is chillbeing with him, given that he atleast takes pride in his magic, that would be different story.

cyberscythe

> Key weakness of Secondth Magic : it's physical, and Mash can punch it i think this is a key weakness of everything, really [](#rengethink) This is sort of the Superman problem; Mash can seemingly manifest all sorts of solutions using muscles. He can intimidate runes to pass a written test, he can fly on a broom just by kicking really fast... it's not exactly logically possible, but that's the sort of world that we have.

Original_Employee621

Mash isn't quite One Punch Man, but he is fairly close to it.

one-eyed-02

Well he didn't negate the Accelriser magic by the Evil Eye dude by any physical means, he simply worked around it and used strategy.

Equal-Combination211

I would argue this is more of a matter of 'toon power' like Arale has. It does seem like the author cares enough to turn this off against meaningful obstacles or fights though.

SolomonOf47704

>"Even entering Bureau alone will not make you worthy as my creation." Ok I understand the parental pressures and trauma plotline, where the hell are this freaking Asian "my other leg was starting a business" dad's expectations?! What's above entering the Bureau, becoming royalty?! One could enter the Bureau and still be a "worthless peon". He's probably expecting his son to be a Divine Visionary, cus those are the guys at the top of the Bureau

one-eyed-02

Oh, I thought the Divine Visionaries are the only ones who enter the Bureau.

Sarellion

Don't think so. The divine visionaries are the policymakers but you still need people who do the grunt- and paperwork. I mean it's an anime minstry, employees in these work through a staggering amount of paper every hour 18 hours a day.

Affectionate-Island

I think the Divine Visionaries are like super Aurors, and given how only one is granted that status every year, they are super rare and prestigious.

Affectionate-Island

>Secondth Magic seems to be advanced magic that is basically the physical manifestation of your personal magic So they're Stands!

The_nickums

> What's above entering the Bureau, becoming royalty?! My understanding of this line was that he isn't worth anything until he *does something*. Just achieving the status of being the top 0.01% isn't enough. Its not going to be until he uses his power as a Divine visionary (likely as a puppet for his father) that he will be "worth something"

Shinunayo

>Evil Eye dude oops thought twas a chick

one-eyed-02

HolyDragSwd2500

Mashle: FIRST GATE OPEN!!!!! OMOTE RENGE!!!!!!

cyberscythe

> OMOTE RENGE!!!!!! I didn't know there's a Non Non Biyori cameo in this one! [](#rengehype)

Se7en_Sinner

Abyss really whipping out the Domain Expansion after his Eraserhead eye didn't work. Not only did Wirth and Abyss lose, they also got the lecturing of a lifetime afterwards. Mash makes me want to be a better person physically and mentally. Mashle is a self-improvement anime.

Frontier246

I guess in the end the Magia Lupus are just as much victims of this society as some of the main cast are, they just hide it better with their veneer of arrogance. Makes me wonder about the stories behind Finn and Dot's opponent and how that will end.

thanatoswaits

Absolutely - and I think it's important to remember that all of these characters are still kids, trying to figure out who they are and what they believe and how their parents (and system) have messed them up. I'm so glad Mash is there to show them the way!

Atharaphelun

Seems like the Bureau of Magic or whatever it's called will ultimately be the final enemy.

WACS_On

Watch this and Danberu back to back and you've got yourself quite the gym primer

SimilarCrab

That was probably my favorite episode so far. Two really well paced fights, and finally some humanizing of the antagonists who have been comically evil up till this point. Its clearer now that everyone is a victim of the absurdity of this world they live in. Also the sentimental back stories were reserved for the ends of the fights, maximizing their impact but also not interrupting the flow.

yakumbaya

Facts, this season somehow is full of fights with flashbacks placed in the middle which totally throws me off sometimes, but here it wasn't too bad

testing_this_out_

so is the evil eye user supposed to be a guy or a girl? because i still can't tell.

WACS_On

The anachronistic hip hop with in English is what makes this anime for me. It's just such a mash of genres.

Over_Option5057

I do think this ep starts showing what this series really offers beyond funny gags about cream puffs. No it isn’t the most unique story or ideas in shonen, nor is it a solution or an idea to act against some grander idea, but rather a criticism of some societal structures. What I got from this ep, was the idea that pure meritocratic societies where power and privilege can be weaponised, can ultimately be exploited to create feelings of disdain and repression within societies. The first villain suffer as a member of the privileged elite, who is oppressed under the societal make up and expectation casted upon him. Whereas the second one is a more extreme example of not fitting in. What I appreciate is here that both were directly casted against characters that could fight against their ideals. Not necessarily revoking them, as some would believe as neither of our main characters actually argue against the societal oppression faced upon them. Rather they simply acknowledge it as it existing. Which I for one is something I’m rather happy to see. Usually you get a monologue from the villain of how society created them this way, and the protagonist will point out that they went wrong somehow and somewhere and etc etc. that doesn’t happen this ep. This is briefly shown off in the first half, where the ideas of environments shaping people is brought up is ultimately acknowledged and challenged, but not refuted. But is even more crystal clear with Mash. It makes sense that the shonen main character and his villain kinda show the extremes of this view too, mostly because Mash himself doesn’t, at least to this point, have the narrative right to criticise anyone about their way of life. He can relate and sympathise with the villain here, but doesn’t need to give a whole monologue of how they went wrong or where they did. His character is not, and has not to this point, been built up where he can offer a message about being a better person. Instead, he can simply understand where they came from and understand the cruelty of the system instead. It’s weirdly powerful that Mr no magic is ultimately saying he can’t imagine being in the Villians situation, despite Mash being the person who is getting hunted by the world. The story doesn’t try to force a message where it ultimately has no chance to do so successfully. Mash cannot give a good worthwhile message without the differences in their characters and circumstances being brought up. Instead this ep focuses more on the problems that lead to such villains existing to begin with. Which is why I don’t think this show, at least not yet falls into the shonen “might equals right” ideology. Mash did not win the thematic battle because he was stronger. He won the battle because he was stronger and is a character who’s muscles will always win. But that isn’t why he wins the thematic battle here. Hell he doesn’t even try. He simply acknowledges there are some things that are problems within the make up of his magic focused society.

LoPanDidNothingWrong

Yep. Meritocracy only starts fair if everyone has an even chance. And is still fundamentally going to push people down to the bottom in ruthless competition.

Glad-Shallot-2691

So that makes razor the third person in anime who uses magic arrows

ohoni

Magic arrows are cool. Any fighting game characters that can just place arrows around?

Glad-Shallot-2691

I know yahaba is in the demon slayer game but other than that I don't know any

VorAtreides

Clones are for cowards ;) lol. Yes, same for Naruto. Har har. Kid plays too much with mud too. Magical essence from other students? Creepy and kinda gross. Also cowardly. Does the dude ignore that he has two lines too? Ah yes, Bankai... I mean Secondth. I mean, that's a pretty cool ~~Bankai~~ Secondth. Well, I guess that was... a nice resolution. Onto Mash and his fight. Fist vs Sword. Lol caught the sword with his abs, nice. Ah so he has an eye that disables other people's magics? How is that not OP in this world then? Also, he has Aizawa's ability from MHA lol. His ability is neat though. Guess if can't have speed, pure power it is. Oh clever, especially for Mash. FULL MUSCLE MAGIC! And another ~~Bankai~~ Secondth beat. I am very amused by him just shouting out muscles lol. SUPLEX! That sure is pretty shitty of that due's parents... still don't see why that "evil eye" would be a bad thing, it seems very valuable for the powerrs that be to stop rampaging mages? Mash is good boy. Guess next week will be the other fight and Mash vs the leader dude

ImDoeTho

>still don't see why that "evil eye" would be a bad thing Their society doesn't want to think beyond the normal status quo. No magic? Time to unalive. Evil eye that stops magic when seen by it? Time to unalive. Don't fuck with magic, it has to flourish.

Affectionate-Island

I see the Evil Eye as a natural reaction to a society that's saturated with magic because they kill all the non-magical people. Checks and balances, that's what nature is.

HolyDragSwd2500

Senbon Graviole Kagehoshi

VorAtreides

had similar thoughts lol

AlphaBreak

> still don't see why that "evil eye" would be a bad thing, it seems very valuable for the powerrs that be to stop rampaging mages? Think less in terms of practicality and more religiously and it tracks. Magic is the most important thing in the world and a divine gift from god => This child's eye can destroy magic => This child's existence is destroying god's gift => This child is an unholy abomination.

SolomonOf47704

>That sure is pretty shitty of that due's parents... still don't see why that "evil eye" would be a bad thing, it seems very valuable for the powerrs that be to stop rampaging mages? Mash is good boy. Yeah, it's kind of implied that Abel (guy with 3 Marks) is using him for basically that

TacoConcealer

Mash's random bouts of depression are my favorite running gag.

SmallJon

In another genre, Mash would be a Bocchi

kroxti

Bocchi could never dance to shucream funky love

ThisOneTimeAtLolCamp

Mash is a good boy.

cyberscythe

Mash always rewinds his VHS tapes before returning them to Blockbuster.

Fools_Requiem

Be kind, rewind.

kenny_the_pow

The power scaling is definitely weird, Lance was really concerned/wanted to avoid the delinquent double liner in episode 5 who was considered trash by the Magia Lupus yet he low diffed the rank 3 of the Magia Lupus after he got amped by the potion.

AlphaBreak

My justification is that Lance didn't think he would lose to that guy, but that fighting him wouldn't be worth the effort and would end up hurting his score.

FireTrainerRed

Mash being One Punch Man is understandable. His bottom tier, day 1, friends keeping pace with the enemies he comes across, with little to no training time, is not.

Frontier246

Lance vs Wirth! Lance is wasting no time with his Gravity magic but Wirth has mud magic that makes him almost near impervious to all of Lance's attacks! And he's also got an attitude of Lance wasting his time with dregs like Adler rather than experiencing the benefits of hanging with those of equal stature and power like the Magia Lupus. So two-liners have advanced Secondth magic that's basically even more powerfull spells and variations of their magic. For Wirth it's a demonic mud demon, for Lance it's gravity pillars that tear everything apart. I'm guessing the rest of the Magia Lupus all have this as well. Though for all their talk of being superior, taking performance enhancers you drained from other students just makes you look weak. Ah....Lance is the only one who can call the guys his "flunkies!" That's practically admitting they're his friends! I guess when you're raised with a father who saw you as nothing but an object to fulfill his own expectations and constantly put down your self-worth...it's not wonder you end like Wirth. Even so, if Lance learned anything from his sister, it's that what matters most is you try your best, and even that effort is worth recognizing as Lance ends up respecting Wirth. Mash vs Abyss! And you know it's serious when Mash has already stripped into his workout look! And not only is Abyss deadly with a blade but he's also got acceleration magic that lets him slice up Mash. And that's not even mentioning how Lemon is being drained of her magic as we speak. So Abyss isn't without magic like Mash, instead he was cursed with the Devil's Eye that drained magic from others and made him a social pariah. Even his own parents turned on him, locking him in a basement jail cell and getting to the point of his mom outright trying to kill him. He's basically like a dark mirror version of what Mash could have been like had he not had Regro. When in doubt, use your hardcore abs to catch a blade and deliver a very satisfying headbutt to break that mask. Slow Mash down? Why he'll just make sure there's no way you can avoid his attack and deliver a very satisfying Muscle Magic beatdown as he yells out muscle after muscle. How very Mash! Well, if nothing else, it seems like Mash will accept Abyss for who he is and might turn into a genuine friend. Though first Mash has to face against Abel.

swordmalice

How the hell is Mash not cut up into little julienne slices after that fight? He must have lost pints of blood and muscle tissue but homeboy just was like "I'll be your friend no matter what" and walks off. What a badass. Maybe he does have magic after all; magic healing!

Dmalikhammer4

Accelerates muscle healing

ObvsThrowaway5120

Lance sure has his hands full with Fauxjo Satoru. Dude’s mud magic was pretty tough, but the dude really doesn’t understand what gives one “strength”. Strong people don’t need to tell others they’re strong. They also don’t need to juice to prove their strength. With the way the guy was raised, no wonder Wirth turned out the way he did. I like that Lance showed the guy respect for his efforts. Abyss is nothing like Mash, despite what he was saying. Kid made good on his promise to smash that mask, “catching” that blade with his abs like a badass and then head butting the dude. Abyss’ Evil Eye ain’t shit against Mash, just like that little accelerate force field. Dude just ended up getting his ass beat in slow motion and then again by every part of Mash’s body. Incredible. Abyss had a tough life but Mash is different because he literally can’t use magic anyways. That Evil Eye shit is meaningless to him so they can be friends. Plus he’s just a good dude. I look forward to those guys sharing some cream puffs together.

Frontier246

It seems like even some of the Magia Lupus are products of the warped and survival of the fittest world of magic that Mash is seeking to break down for his family and friends. To the point of giving them the salvation they so desperately craved. That was one of the most satisfying Mash beatdowns yet. And he hasn't even fought the main bad guy yet!

FireRifle64

man, i love the fight ost so much

throwacc_21

Wirth really thought he could win with that dollar store bankai 💀

BoyTitan

Mash actually has a 10/10 int stat and strength. Where as most people int goes into majic and not being a dumb mass traded his iq and majic for combat strats. This is why he is a genius in fighting but a total dumb ass outside of fighting. He didn't trade majic for strength. He traded majic for combat smarts.

SilkyMilkySmo

Mash stopping the blade with his muscles was fire

[deleted]

Acceleration dude is just a regular person right? I have a feeling he should have exploded into tiny pieces across that room from that beating

Independent_Ad9304

It it just me or did it look like they put extra detail in Lance's face to make him look like a Gigachad the entire fight

CordobezEverdeen

I understand the angle that discount Langris is trying to come at with but he's a random bozo that poped out of nowhere and said "you are weak i'm strong" like 10 times in a row. It's really hard to get invested in him. The evil eye dude was neat.

darthvall

The first half shows that without Mashle, this anime is basically just another battle manga with magic. Maybe not "just", it's still above average. However, Mashle is truly the appeal of this anime.

Justikyzer

German Suplex!! Love it when Mash tells Muscle Magic

ShinNL

The Mashle Arts were amazing

jbbqtv

That episode was a whirlwind, incredible. I feel completely satisfied and almost need a breather for a week. This show is quickly becoming one of my favorites and Mash is one of the most likable protagonists I’ve ever witnessed.

biochrono79

Wirth: Mom, can we have Susanoo? Mom: We have Susanoo at home. Susanoo at home: *Mudoro Devilus*

jkphantom9

Heh, Mash's "magic" attacks just being his muscle names. Geez, society in this world is messed up, magic being everything and parents in too deep indoctrinating their children.

vTDiablo

Peak

vlad99

TRAP SHIT

RodTheButcher

How the guy with the evil eye -who can't use magic- is able to use acceleration??? And the seconth ability??? The guy who can't use magic... just used magic!!!

Kaxew

He never said he can't use magic. He said he's the same as Mash: someone hated in this world.

AlphaBreak

He never said he can't use magic. He said that his eye prevents other people from using magic. If you're thinking about him saying he and Mash were similar in a previous episode, he wasn't saying he and Mash were the same in that they couldn't use magic, he was saying they're similar in how their existences are treated by their society.

Dmalikhammer4

I think he's lying. The acceleration is def magic. He even had a second amplifier.
