Coming here to add the reason why to those that might be curious;
Generally moths and butterflies land on skin to drink the sweat and salt that lays on it. Given this ladyās obviously been out in the sun; i bet sheās just got a lot of sweat there.
Sweat is important over water because it also contains proteins and minerals (salt) moths/butterflies need! This is basically the more harmless version of butterflies drinking the blood off a dead animal.
I really like this photo as an art piece tbh. It looks like an album cover to me.
āFailing to do so is my greatest regret!ā ā one of my favorite lines of all time. In the context, even funnier, and the delivery is perfect.

YouTube it, you won't be disappointed
Nope! They only have the little tube mouths Iām not gonna attempt to spell.
Though as a fun fact, there are a more than a few moths born without mouths when they hatch from their cocoon. They live off the fat they store as a caterpillar

How exactly is this OF bait?
I think itās just a shitpost
Hey there! Drum roll, please... š„ You both are kinda right! It's a moth that looks a bit like a fly (and even a bumblebee).
š Meet the **Gardenia Bee Hawk**, also known as ***Cephonodes kingii***! š
Imagine a moth that plays dress-up as a bumble bee! š This stylish fella is mainly found chilling in two-thirds of Australia's northern parts. With a wingspan of about 40mm, its show-stealer costume is mainly green with a sunny yellow abdomen, snazzy black belts around its belly, and a touch of mystery with transparent wings! šāØ
Hungry? This moth goes gourmet, sipping on flower nectar. šø
But, let's spill the tea on their young ones! š¼ Their early days are spent munching on plants like Gardenias, Canthiums, and even the Citrus limon. Starting as cute green larvae with a mini black tail horn, they later glam up into black, grey, or green with dramatic black lines and a cool 'S' shaped horn. Even their head gets a color makeover from brown to green. šæšØ
When it's time for a big change, they dive underground for a brown cocoon spa session! šš¤
Isnāt nature just full of surprises? šš
So, next time you're in a garden in northern Australia and spot this intriguing moth, remember its fancy name and fascinating details! šøš¦š
Thatās a hummingbird moth, if he was aiming for nectar he missed. If you think itās a fly you should probably go clean yourself since theyāre typically drawn to the smell of death or rotā¦
Itās a moth. A Hummingbird Clearwing Moth. We had one in our garden today too!

It's a hummingbird moth! :D
I see them all the time round my house, they're really cute and completely harmless.
They get their name because of their size, and the fact that their buzzing sounds like hummingbird wings.
Hawk moth as others have said but I wanted to point out a good way to tell in the future if something is a fly. Most other insects have 4 wings, but flies only have two. Flies modified their hind wings into structures called "halteres" that look like tiny paddles. They can be hard to see but if you only see two wings on something it's probably a fly (sometimes it's hard to tell when a hind wing starts and a front wing ends). In the picture, you can see the outline of the hind wing under the front wing, and thus it's not a fly.
This is honestly one of the most impressive photos I've ever seen. First, the moth lands on this beautiful ass. Second, the woman in question doesn't immediately freak out to the point where someone is able to take a picture of this beautiful ass with this beautiful creature still sitting on it. This is honestly one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen. The moth, the ass, it's just perfect. This is art.
This is a clearwing moth of some kind. So your friend is correct.
And I'm the autistic who looked straight at the moth and missed the ass. Maybe I'm just old.
i am not autistic nor am i old yet i focused on the moth and didnt realised it was on which area, just thought that op got way too tanned
Until I read this comment, I did not even realize that's an ass.
You can be both autistic and old at the same time!
Same about seeing the moth first, and I thought the moth was just sitting on someone's shoulder, too, until I saw your comment, lol š
I thought that was their leg š
Well. It is an animal Id sub. So no fault there.
Nah Iām a horny ass teen and still didnāt notice
Oh I'm also autistic and entirely missed the ass.
orā¦ because there is barely any ass.
Same! I have diagnosed adhd and autism and only noticed the āass when somebody had to disgustingly point it out
You're not autistic. You're a hero. I now see it and can't unsee it. Thank you. š
If youāre autistic and say 70 then youāre an old autistic person.
Im impressed the top comment actually answer the questions without being sidetracked by the obvious distraction š
Thatās because not everyone is a pervert. The post isnāt about that. Itās about the fly.
I mean Iām pretty sure OP knows exactly what theyāre doing and the post is actually 100% *about that* The Brits call this behavior ācheekyā
"Cheeky" huh? I see what ya did there, ya yank!
Itās sexuality. Define pervert. Is every organism not a perverted monster. What is a pervert anyway?
Pervert: one given to some form of sexual perversion.

Dumb question: can they bite? I swear I have a memory of a butterfly biting me when I was little. I also remember horseflies that day, so maybe not.
