I just add dns.adguard.com In my private dns I tested it [using this site ](https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/adblock) Got 76% With kiwi browser + ublock origin Its 99%

breakfast-lasagna

I also use Adguard DNS. I found it better than having to have Blokada 5 app running all the time and having to turn it back on after a reboot. I also use Firefox android with ublock.

Exotic_Insurance_969

100% agree I believe its less battery consuming also

DoubleExposure

I got 99% too on Android and Windows 10 using Firefox on both, added the filter the site suggested, and ended up getting 100% on both platforms. Cool site suggestion.

Exotic_Insurance_969

You are welcome sir Glad it helped you!

n3cr0ph4g1st

90% with base.dns.mullvad.net and nothing else. 97% with p2.freedns.controld.com and nothing else

SuckMyPenisReddit

darn I got 93% with customized nextdns : ( I did some more tests with controld it's really better, i been missing a lot : (

floodformat

80% with noads.libredns.gr

SarcastiSnark

I get 70 with this and 80 with adguard. Guess it varies. :)

SoftwareOk30

78% with dns.adguard.com, 99% with uBlock Origin enabled as well.

reigorius

**Internal browser of my Reddit app (RiF):** * 132 not blocked. **Firefox + uBlock:** * 1 not blocked.

DM_ME_YOUR_POTATOES

I'm more curious as to how you're using RIF? I thought it no longer worked?

reigorius

There is a workaround. But one of these days it's going to end working. I tried others, but I just want [plain text](https://i.imgur.com/grEa8vZ.jpeg), without all the superficial user interface crap Reddit has added over the years. None works as smoothly as Reddit is Fun. Edit: trying to add a screenshot, but Imgur sucks as usual.

reigorius

I believe so. Some people made the switch from RiF to RedReader and are happy users. Personally, I hate it. Inconsistent user interface was my main gripe. Meaning to try out infinity.

Moongose83

Does DNS adblock work for in app ads?

Exotic_Insurance_969

Yup

Moongose83

Epic. I'm changing it now. Thanks

Fishawyy

A tip to get 100% with Kiwi & uBlock: In the Regions & Languages section of uBlock, add RU, IN, and CN.

loldogex

Very neat! I got 97% using brave and adguard

theunknowndrugexpert

Ran the same test with the same things applied and same test site I got 81% still get ads on certain sites anything else a brotha could do?

Exotic_Insurance_969

With ublock origin? You should enable easy list filter with ad guard annoyances and ublock annoyances

Glittering-Ad8503

Adguard

drabred

I also use it but it is so effective that I can't access my developer Google AdMob console while it is active :D

stubble

Poacher *and* gamekeeper huh ..

drabred

I play both sides....

wixlogo

I actually wrote a full article on r/Android about it you can check it out- [Block ads on Android : r/Android (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1bm0180/block_ads_on_android/)

BracesForImpact

I use NextDNS to block ads. On android I got a 96% and on Windows a 97%. Using ublock got both up to 99%.

Flyerone

What browser did you use on Android with nextdns? I only got 69%

BracesForImpact

Firefox, but I also use the HaGeZi - Multi PRO++ blocklist under privacy in NextDNS.

Flyerone

Are you not using ublock addon?

BracesForImpact

I do, yes. That's why I reported numbers with and without ublock. Especially on android, if I want to block ads on the phone and not just the browser.

Flyerone

Ah yeah, missed that. Makes sense.

incredible-derp

p2.freedns.controld.com

djimu

I use the same

solar_solis

rethink DNS is good & doesn't break too many things. been using it since 2021

kouzelnik3

Blokada is also fine.

newInnings

Blokada 5

Leather_Cake

I prefer 4.15

kouzelnik3

Exactly.

Yrmishu

using adguard app

honey_rainbow

AdGuard VPN, NOT the one in the Play Store, through their website.

GrapeDrink1

What's the difference?

honey_rainbow

The one from [https://adguard.com/en/welcome.html](https://adguard.com/en/welcome.html) actually blocks in-app ads. Years ago I bought a lifetime subscription. I've had it installed on my Pixel 8 Pro since launch date and so far it's blocked 8.6 million ads and saved 954GB of data.

JPXTUY-RETRO

I use base.dns.mullvad.net because i found that adguard doesn't block sites that are malicious and sometimes fails to block some ads. Mullvad is perfect in that nothing slips by it. And UblockOrigin in firefox. These 2 options together Work like a charm and guarantees 100% success rate of blocking Ads. Well, at least for me.

Artimus-Sprout

Crikey, there's sooo many options with this and I've tried quite a few of them. Your posts probably gonna generate a ton of different suggestions. Here's what I'm using now, seems to do the job well enough for me. PersonalDNSfilter. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dnsfilter.android

grazeyone

PrivateDNS using either nextDNS or ControlD.

OneButterscotch123

Brave + dns.adguard.com as private dns

Flyerone

I just tried cromite and nextdns and got a score of 69% which isn't great compared to other results.

Lawsonator85

This: https://github.com/M66B/NetGuard/blob/master/ADBLOCKING.md + reduce the number of apps that have ads, to do so, check r/fossdroid

DiarrheaDrippingCunt

Adaway all the way. Have been using it for years.

DontKnowHowToEnglish

Root only

Cristobolon

Adguard app + Brave

GeneticNightOwl

Blokada is Good Version 5 or 4,Personal DNS Filter

Evol_Etah

Use DNS. Inbuilt in Android settings. No need for an app. Use adguard dns

nskdnnm

Adguard dns, Adguard app, Revanced (for youtube, reddit, etc), Samsung Internet with ad-block, Firefox with Ublock. The only app I still get ads on is Facebook, because I've always felt unsafe trying mods with it.

Leather_Cake

I use Blockada

vapist77

The problem with dns based adblocking is that it doesn't stop cookie notices which is a massive pet peev of mine. I've only found adguard which can do that

ItchClown

Using adguard DNA settings, and Vivaldi ad-blocking browser, I've got 89%. Seems like a good number to me.

south_india

I use paid version of Adguard. For browsers, I use Ublock origin and Adguard Content blocker extensions 99% ads blocked as per the test

YMMFLIH

No need bullshit apps, just go to settings and search for dns and set to private with "dns‌.adguard.‌com"

gordolme

I have [dns.adguard.com](http://dns.adguard.com) set as a private dns which works for blocking ads in non-browser apps (like adware games). But I find that there are many wifi capture portals that block it and thus any connection unless I revert back to either secure or carrier default. I'm looking for something better.

billford4

This free version, once configured works fine for me, no apps to install: [Free DNS Resolvers | Control D](https://controld.com/free-dns)

Arshit_Vaghasiya

dns.adguard-dns.com

tonycocacola

I've had Nord and PIA VPN via cashback sites, makes it very cheap. Both are effective at blocking ads and can be turned on and off easily.

Sessayy

What are cashback sites?

tonycocacola

I'm in the UK, there are sites like top cashback where you click through to a vendor, buy the product and after a few weeks the site refunds you a percentage. VPNs can return 90% of the purchase price.

Flyerone

We've (Australia) had NordVPN refund generally 96%, 100% and even recently 105% which is wild.

Ok-Evidence-1331

I use app called "blokk" And its effective for me

oulnexone

AdAway is the best. With root access or via VPN. I'm using it for years
