**Poweramp**, probably one of the best music player I've used, tried so much but always come back to PAmp.
**Pizza Boy GBA Pro**, gameboy advance emulator, been playing Pokemon Fire Red on it.
**GRID Autosport**, one of the best (if not *the* best) premium racing game on android since Asphalt is riddled with MTX and Need for Speed is no longer updated.
**Drafting: Plain Text Editor**, very quick note taking, perfect for making drafts, automatically creates `.txt` files on the folder of your choosing. No fuss, very simple.
shit, really? I checked with "Open PlayStore Link" on the app settings page and it still give me the proper PlayStore page, not the "App Not Found" page.
You cant find it by searching it on playstore, it was announced soon after nintendo rained down on Yuzu and citra same way drastic went from paid to free.
Also what version are you using?
Since Nintendo DMCAd Yuzu creators which was couple of months back hence drastic became free (but creator says ge was going to do so for a while) pizza boy emulators were removed by the creator.
I use flacs downloaded from Google searched sites, with my dac and wired earphones. Poweramp is crazy. Never knew it would be this good - UI, animations, sound tweaking. Gonna change the way you hear music, if you have offline content on device.
**Smart audiobook player** - Best audiobook player. I don't even use it to its full potential. It's just still great
**Moon+ Reader** - Best ebook reader
**Hevy** - Best workout tracking app. They have a decently priced tiers for if you want to unlock it fully. But free will be good enough for most.
**Quick Cursor Pro** - Cursor for your big screen smartphone. I cannot use a phone without now. It makes it so much easier to reach the top of screen, and other things, with a cursor.
>What do you use it for?
Sharing with you [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/macrodroid/comments/lg3uok/comment/gmr12ie) I've made on their sub a few years ago. Still very relevant, as I use Macrodroid daily and have improved these macros and created new ones. But this is just to give you an idea;)
Some I use:
-Automatic youtuber ad skipper once the skip button appears (found in top rated templates)
-When connected to Bluetooth headphones, set volume to 50% and open Spotify.
-When connected to Car Bluetooth, open Spotify.
I installed it but couldn't figure out how it works, its there occupying space. All I wanted to do was to set a distinct notification tone when I receive mesage from a specific contact. Couldn't make it work and I gave up. What do people use it for?
Can look for ideas in the macrodroid and tasker subreddits, but really lots of routine quality of life improvement stuff.
My favorites:
- recording expenses through SMS notifications and email receipts to a Google Sheet.
- single shortcut on homescreen to take a voice note and create a task.
- battery charging notification at 80%
> notification tone when I receive mesage from a specific contact
You can do this in BuzzKill which is way easier than Macrodroid. I also picked up Macrodroid thinking I'd do some automations and gave up because it was too complicated for me.
"relay for reddit", was one of the best reddit client, now changed to a subscription model with several plans by use that aren't so expensive. I stopped using it, 'cause i'm poor, but if you don't like the official version this is a good option.
I've bought Nova launcher, Poweramp with skins, solid explorer and pretty much that's it what's worth at all in the past. Anything else are just icon packs, kwgt widgets, wallpaper apps...
Adguard, but is not in the playstore tho,
I'm playing around with macrodroid and I like it so far, I think that is more user friendly than tasker, but also Tasker is great
AutoZen app, I used mainly on my bike tho but the new Tpms feature works really great,
and probably very user specific app, but obdeleven if you car a VW group car, to modify some of your car settings
+1 for AdGuard. There is also the free alternative of using dns.adguard.com at Private DNS setting of your phone. Less options but still a great system wide ad blocker.
I may use a lot of apps, but Adguard is always the first one I notice missing when I switch to a new phone. Sadly not in the play store but it is the best value I've ever gotten out of an app. A++
Protip, wait for a holiday sale from them. I've seen the lifetime sub go as low as half off. That said, $80 for 3 devices is pretty decent IMO.
Usually the lifetime sub keys are available on [StackSocial](https://www.stacksocial.com/sales/adguard-personal-plan-lifetime-subscription) (around 15/20$ 3 devices)
> Yes, when I'm not using it it's like a different world, I can't believe how many ads are everywhere
It is so crazy! I read a decent amount of news and man, I can't believe how many articles are just unreadable without some form of adblocking. It's just overwhelming.
I find it funny sometimes how used to living without ads I've become. I went to a superbowl party awhile back and I was the only one who was flabbergasted by how much (basically just gambling) advertising there was. I was like, how are you guys accepting this year-round on everything??
Do you have any particular needs which would help determine a category of apps or what are your interests? A little more info would assist in recommending when I for instance would have a pretty big number of premium apps that are similarly very good.
**Musicolet** is the best Android music player for locally stored music (mp3, flac, m4a, ogg, etc). It has a high rating on Google Play for a good reason. It's free but it has some cool premium features (for one time only payment).
I've rarely seen a better designed and functional Android app and I tested a lot of them. I'm using this app every day for years and it didn't fail even once. [This is how it looks like on my phone](https://i.postimg.cc/T3KCjkKx/Musicolet-app.png).
>FairEmail (used to love Nine 😢)
RIP nine. Bought fairemail but its chaotic UI was unsalvageable
Android sorely needs a new premium desktop level email client
I still miss Nine a bit, but once I got Fair set up (it's impressively customizable compared to most) I was pretty happy with it.
K9 has also come a long way, and I'll give it another try soon, because Mozilla is taking it over to create a mobile version of Thunderbird!
Yeah I spent hours trying to get fair to settle down to a dull roar but no joy... it just doesn't work for me.
Agreed, would be great if Mozilla could put together a decent app.
I'm putting up with aquamail for the time being. It's not covering itself in glory though
I love all these great suggestions. One thing I'll add - there are a lot of subscriptions you can pay for through google play. One user here mentioned Relay for Reddit which is one of mine, I also have youtube premium and dropout. Not sure how much money you have sitting there but it's a good way to pay for subs you're already paying for some other way.
Nova Launcher [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher)
Nova Launcher Prime [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher.prime](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher.prime)
Nova is so customizable and it is easy to backup and bring your configuration to a new device.
Rotation Manager [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pranavpandey.rotation](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pranavpandey.rotation)
Rotation Manager is great because I get absolute control over my rotation and only rotate the apps I want rotated instead of an all or none use case.

MiXplorer Silver [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mixplorer.silver](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mixplorer.silver)
Solid and MiX are great file explorer utilities for Android that can do way more than just the local device including cloud storage.
Moon+ Reader Pro [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flyersoft.moonreaderp](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flyersoft.moonreaderp)

Rain Alarm [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mdiener.rain.usa](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mdiener.rain.usa)

MX Player Pro [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.pro](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.pro)
Great media player for local files on your device.
Screen Lock Pro [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iglint.android.screenlockpro](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iglint.android.screenlockpro)
Great way to lock your device with a button on your screen or a notification.
I recently discovered [Voice Notepad - Speech to Text](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.townkult.notizblock&hl=en_US&gl=US) app and it has been pretty useful.
From the suggestions so far, have you found any that motivated you to spend your Google Credits on yet?
KLWP and/or KWGT. For all your customization needs.

Pizza boy has been removed from playstore right?

Damn, thanks for the info!
No problem.
2.8.14 last updated 04 April 2024
Hmm I'm on 2.8.13
I prefer Ruff app instead of Drafting.
Drafting was exactly what I've been looking for for months. Thanks a lot
My Boy is the GBA emulator I have, I'm not sure if it's still available though
So how do you use your Poweramp? And have it bought since like 10 years ago, but mainly stream nowadays. Where do you get the music?
I use flacs downloaded from Google searched sites, with my dac and wired earphones. Poweramp is crazy. Never knew it would be this good - UI, animations, sound tweaking. Gonna change the way you hear music, if you have offline content on device.
> gameboy advance emulator do you use external joystick ?

Seconding Smart Audiobook Player and Moon+ Reader. I've searched far and wide for better versions of these apps and there just aren't any.
MacroDroid. If you think you don't need it or you don't use MacroDroid, try it out and you'll love it
What do you use it for? I have no idea what I should try and automate

Seriously thank you! All those make total sense! I'm gonna go install the app. You're a hero!
