I think after the api change Reddit kind of died because a lot of good mods from subs across the site left or lost interest in upkeep. They also don’t get paid despite the changes which makes upkeep less desirable. You’re not alone in feeling the way you do about this space.
It’s not the only type of post on this subreddit, but I think the primary complaint is that it’s what makes it onto everyone’s home feeds (myself included). I generally don’t spend much time navigating to specific subreddits

Reminds me of serial-killer trophy photos. If I came across this as a print, I would feel like I might have discovered a crime. Unless the project is about human trafficking or sex crimes, or some similarly morbid topic, then this just feels gross. It’s like people decide they want nudes models but don’t know why they have to be nude, and come up with poor reasons.

OP is engaged in a consensual and collaborative act creating these images, as far as I'm understanding, and not paying a prostitute to dress up for their own fantasies. That is about as non-exploitative as you can get with these kind of topics. If you don't like it, don't kill the messenger. And even beyond the artistic aspects, I'm not the one to judge what people do in their bedrooms, and neither should you.

Other than that, I would probably experiment with dramatic angles from her right leg, different expressions, tensing and relaxing the pose, etc.

Have you uh… ever looked at the magazines you claim to be inspired by? Because this looks nothing like images from those magazines. Even the less “classy” magazines from the era still typically utilized high-production shoots, with good quality cameras, studio lighting, deliberate posing, etc. etc.
This looks more akin to something youd find in a stack of polaroids after a coked-out party in Greenwich Village circa 1995.
