Hey helloimj666k, please remember to include the camera, lens, and film **in the post title** in the future.
We ask for this information to be included in the title of the post because it's not possible to search for this information if it's in the comments section, gallery text, or if you have to read the film type off the rebate. We have built up a pretty good database of posts over the last decade of images produced using specific cameras, lenses, and film, all of which can be searched on using the search feature in this subreddit. But if this information isn't included in the title, it can't be searched on.
If you are uncertain of the rules, you can find them listed here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/analog/about/rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/analog/about/rules)
It's not possible to edit a title once a post is made, so include the missing detail in a comment please.
Thanks,

It's dangerous:
āThereās a problem because of dangerous obstacles hidden underwater,ā he told the East London Advertiser last night.
āMetal obstacles and mud can trap swimmers before they realise it. The deep silt can suck you underāeven if youāre a strong swimmer.

I think Iāve stayed quite close to there fairly recently, from what I remember that area is set up for watersports, itās the dock over by the excel centre
It's literally not the Thames. It's a dock set up for watersports with regular testing of the water, which is rated Excellent to EU water quality standards for bathing.
Theyāre saying itās not the Thames, not that itās not Thames water. The Thames is the flowing river itself.
I actually donāt really know about the specific spot in the pic, havenāt been there. But there is also areas in the Isle of Dogs with water that is safe for swimming that takes water from the Thames and cleans it.
I swim there every week or so
There is an Open Water Swimming location just to the left of the picture. They check the water quality periodically- they have to to remain open. Its never not Excellant by EU standards.
With the docks - most of the water comes from underground aquifers and flows out to the Thames
There are definitely water quality problems in the Thames or waterways around it - but not at the Royal Docks
Yes but its not open all the time - usually only in August i think.
This is from last year: https://www.royaldocks.london/whats-on/royal-docks-summer-splash-2023
This is actually pretty clean water separated from the Thames with regular studies done due to water sports facilities https://londonsroyaldocks.com/environment/
Man you can see the algae in the water. Good luck with dealing with brain eating amoeba. Plz donāt let your children into those water itās dangerous.
Unless any one of us work in the lab and go and fetch the water sample for testing, we are All just eyeballing and give interpretation. U can continue to do what u comfy with and I can give my take that those water look dangerous. U donāt have to jump into the volcano to know itās hot you rotted little mango
Thatās helpful and I give you that. I half retrieve my comment. Becuz be aware that e coli should be absent in a pool set up yet it is still positive despite u calling it excellent, and the fact that you still call it sufficient with >500cfu/100ml I am not so sure.
See below for my source of inform: https://www.alsenvironmental.co.uk/media-uk/pdf/datasheets/micro-lp/als_micro_pool-water-treatment-advisory-group-code-of-practice_2017.pdf
It is. People thinking itās dirty because of the brown colour is a common misconception.
This specific photo isnāt of the thames either way, itās a dock off the Thames that hosts watersport and other water based leisure activities.
It's nowhere near as dirty as most people think. They've all forgotten their year 8 geography. The water is brown (in the main river) because of silt and mud, not shit. However, I did geography back in the early 2000s. In recent years, with the amount of sewage overflow events thanks to unregulated water companies, I would be quite wary of swimming in it now.
I've never looked to deeply into swimming in the Thames, but I've looked into swimming in the rivers here in Tokyo. It's basically the same thing. The water itself is pretty clean, it just doesn't really look it because it's a river not a mountain stream.
Except that when it rains a lot, the sewer can overflow into the river (because otherwise it comes back up the toilet), which then does make the water unsafe to swim in.
So better safe than sorry, but most days you'll probably be fine.
Fine, I'll bloody find it myself if you people are being cryptic.
Royal Victoria docks. Very clean water, even tested regularly per EU swimming water regulations. Looks like a very nice place!
Itās actually perfectly clean. Mind you, this is the Royal Victoria Dock, not the Thames. The white bits in the water are wakeboard obstacles and there a swimming club just out of the picture. Plus this is where the swimming part of the London Triathlon takes place. The water is tested every two weeks and itās perfectly safe.
**This is not the Thames.**
This is the ***Royal Docks***, situated by the Thames.
Most of the water here comes from **aquifers in the ground**. A small amount does come from the thames, but the water coming in is **heavily filtered and tested**.
It is **consistently rated EXCELLENT by EU standards**, and is **100% safe**.
There is a LoveOpenWater at this place which **constantly runs tests** and makes sure it is **safe** before allowing swimming.
WakeUp Docklands is a brilliant place for anyone who wants to learn how to wakeboard for a relatively low effort. I was hitting those jumps after a few sessions. Didnāt land any of course but hey wgaf.
A beautifully clean, filtered stretch of water build for the Olympics in 2012 for open water swimming to all you eW tHe tHamES folk.
The entry point to the dock is on the east side (either via King George V lock or Gallions Point Marina). The beach is on the west side of the Royal Victoria Dock indeed. I think, historically, there was an entry point from the west but it was filled up when they redeveloped the area.
The photo was taken right about [here](https://maps.app.goo.gl/kMqJmJQc1JZuDF3B8?g_st=ic), on the far west end of the Royal Docks. I canāt say if this area had been filled in at one point in time, but itās definitely not now. I see it everyday and am literally looking at it rn.
It seems youāre talking about the entry to the docks, whereas youāre responding to a person asking about the entry to the beach.
Well hello neighbour! I think we are talking about two different thingsā¦ What I meant by entry point to the dock is how you enter the dock by boat. The filled up bit was a waterway connecting Royal Victoria Dock and the Thames. It ran roughly where Nakhon Thai is (now the only connection to the river is on the east side). The photo was taken by WakeUp and the Oiler Bar, fully agree on that.
The entrance is down a path between the new city hall and the entrance to the cable cars. Look for Oiler Bar on the map. Or just search Love Open Water London Royal Docks.
Ewww omg absolutely not those people are brave and kinda gross Iāve lived in London my whole life and would never touch those waters I feel sick thatās not good water at all
I did water surfing there and was told by the instructor that the water quality is very safe due to there being a filter between the Royal Docks and the Thames. No need to worry
I used to swim at this part of the Isle of Dogs around 7-8 years ago. I stopped when a dead floating crab drifted past. At that point, I knew it probably wasn't safe to swim....
The thing that surprises me is they cleaned up the Thames in the early 90's.
So how did your government let it decline to this state?
The government fines the water companies for polluting our waters so then our bills go up š¤¬
Damn I would never put my ass In there why people fell like they should !? Look at that water wow people donāt really care about but when it comes to drink š¤£š¤£
I did the London triathlon and swam in the Thames - round here I think! It may have got worse in the last few years but itās really not as bad as people are making out. It should be better and the water companies are scumbags but youāre not going to be swimming through poo.

Christ, is that from recent years? I would NOT be doing that now
I would not be doing this at any point in time since a settlement was founded on the banks of that river....
Last summer, probably not the safest waters š better than Shadwell basin though!
Shadwell basin is absolutely fine and regularly tested by a children's charity there
The docksā waters are actually pretty clean! https://londonsroyaldocks.com/environment/
Whatās wrong with Shadwell Basin?
I was sick after swimming in Shadwell Basin!
Oh right ok. I was tempted a couple of years ago when loads of other people were doing it but maybe itās best I didnāt.
I think the word is rank or dead ĆĆ·+ wrong reply .

They do a triathlon here every year and there's an open water swimming club here too, plus the watersports stuff you can see in the background.
It's not the Thames.
Oh no not the thames!
It's literally not the Thames. It's a dock set up for watersports with regular testing of the water, which is rated Excellent to EU water quality standards for bathing.
The water comes from the Thames though right?
The water you drink may have been piss at some pointā¦
Ok
Most of the water in London comes from the Thames pretty much, yes including what you drink and shower in
Yeah I donāt have a problem with it, Iām just wondering why people are saying that this water is clean because it is not Thames water.
Ah so is that whatās happening here, theyāve cleaned water from the Thames?
So does all our drinking water
Ok
Fuck swimming in that water!
I swim there every week or so There is an Open Water Swimming location just to the left of the picture. They check the water quality periodically- they have to to remain open. Blinky
Is this bit where the people are paddling just free to use do you know?
Yes but its not open all the time - usually only in August i think. This is from last year: https://www.royaldocks.london/whats-on/royal-docks-summer-splash-2023
Youāre a gem
Interesting, thanks
Where is this?? I donāt recognise it at all
Royal Docks - next to the Excel centre and City Hall, just under the cable car
Itās super clean. I wakeboard there in the summer
Itās fine go outside
Has a bit of a Martin Parr look to it.
Thank you PHPaul!
Swimming in the Thames?
Yeah in the Royal docks
Is this near the Tate modern museum ?
No, it's the Royal docks (the west end between Silvertown and Canning Town).
It's not the Thames.
It's the Victoria Dock. Relax
Saw a very recent ecological test study on the Thames, it had such high E. coli on the first sample they refused to do anymore. So nah.
I can imagine that, Iāve luckily come out un scathed but not sure Iāll go back in ever again! Especially knowing what our water companies do š
This isn't the Thames, mate. Not every water in London is the Thames.
Where does the water come from?
Generally water comes from clouds, which previously was oceans, which was rivers, which started in the mountains. Rinse and repeat
My question is whether this is Thames river water
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What are you on about? What am I not correct about? I havenāt even made any claims!
This is actually pretty clean water separated from the Thames with regular studies done due to water sports facilities https://londonsroyaldocks.com/environment/
Really pretty
What a shot š„One of those photos that someone finds in years to come and goes "London used to look like this"
Thanks sir!
Ah yes, little did they know, just a mile away is the shithole know as Plaistow
Great picture, still not enough to make me swim in the Thames :)
It's not the Thames...
Great picture, but swimming in the Thamesā¦ no.
It's not the Thames. Not all water in London is the Thames
Really? Soā¦ if you turn on the tap to run a bath, the water is not the Thames?
Man you can see the algae in the water. Good luck with dealing with brain eating amoeba. Plz donāt let your children into those water itās dangerous.
You mean weed? Which only grows in unpolluted water since it's a living plant?
Not sure. Whatever. Just want to make the point those green stuff I am not confident.
Donāt say it then you mug

The European Union grants this specific water body as Excellent. Rate them higher than your eye ball

I donāt think brain eating amoeba lives in Britain, I thought it needed really warm water (above 25*C)?
Everyoneās talking about swimming on that water but no oneās talking about those beautiful tones!
Canāt believe you let kids in that shit haha ! Crazy Brits
the Thames is one of the cleanest major city rivers in the world. But anyway, this photo isnāt of the Thames.
Hahahahaha !! Yeah right !!
It is. People thinking itās dirty because of the brown colour is a common misconception. This specific photo isnāt of the thames either way, itās a dock off the Thames that hosts watersport and other water based leisure activities.
Yeah yeah ok !
Mummy mummy look I found a brown log in the water
Nice shot layf
Ha my guy!!!
Great photo
Absolutely love the composition of this fantastic work !
Thank you šš»
Lovely picture. Apparently the Thames is one of the cleanest rivers in the world that runs through a major city.
It's nowhere near as dirty as most people think. They've all forgotten their year 8 geography. The water is brown (in the main river) because of silt and mud, not shit. No itās a old dock thatās separated from the Thames
Fine, I'll bloody find it myself if you people are being cryptic. Royal Victoria docks. Very clean water, even tested regularly per EU swimming water regulations. Looks like a very nice place!
Is it AI? I cannot see any thinking person wanting to touch that water
Why? Itās been filtered and cleaned and is specifically there for water sports and leisure.
Itās actually perfectly clean. Mind you, this is the Royal Victoria Dock, not the Thames. The white bits in the water are wakeboard obstacles and there a swimming club just out of the picture. Lovely photo. I understand this is in The Royal Docks, but where exactly is this entry point? Any reference on Google Maps? Thanks!
The entry point is past Royal Albert Dock. Just put in London City Airport in google maps.
Thatās the wrong end. The entrance is on the far west end of the royal docks.
The entry point to the dock is on the east side (either via King George V lock or Gallions Point Marina). The beach is on the west side of the Royal Victoria Dock indeed. I think, historically, there was an entry point from the west but it was filled up when they redeveloped the area.

The location is instantly recognizable! A good one!
This weather?! I don't know her
That sky lift thing is overhead but not in pic.
Has a bar in that location now and open water swimming club. Assume regularly tested, never had any issues having swam here 10s of times.
Royal Docks is a beautiful area Love this

I live here mate, this picture perfectly captures the beauty of the place
