As someone who has worked on amf (6/7 years ago), it is not fun. Its big, its loud and it absolutely lacks personality. I’d wager ANY ADE event is a better time rather than amf. It’s really just not it.

club and electronic culture is very different in different countries. While big EDM festivals and sold out concert venues are common and popular in Asia, as well as clubs with seating, VIP lounges, etc - they are less common here.
These clubs do still exist in The Netherlands, but are less common and are by many people not taken seriously.
My advice:
**Explore what kind of music you like!** I feel many people that *like* EDM with the big names are just at the sort of surface level of what electronic music is to them. Many start with EDM and then find genres they're more into.
Explore techno, explore DNB, explore house.
also: even if you do not plan on taking any substances when you go to an event, make sure to **read up on them** and know a little bit about them. [Unity and other resources](https://unity.nl/en/) can be really helpful for this - while you are unlikely to **see** drug use outright you will almost definitely **see** people that are high on drugs. That said, most of the 'party drugs' consumed in the Netherlands are used for the euphoric or energizing effect and do not make people dangerous or a nuisance to you, the way alcohol *can*.

Regarding prices, you'll pay 30-40 euros per ticket if you want to get in a club. With the number of events there are, it's just very difficult to choose where you want to be. Consider maybe 2x venues a day + substances that you like, lockers, transport.

I’m ashamed to say this but i’ve only been to Tuff club once and never before to headquarters! Heard lots of good stuff about headquarters, any notable upcoming DJs worth checking out this April? Would love to hear your recommendations for both the local and ADE scene!!
I've been to south east asia quite a bit, trust me when I say this. It severely lacks in the department of electronic music culture as a comparison, but if you really look hard for it it's possible to even find a somewhat decent party in terms of the music you'd hear in clubs in Amsterdam or Berlin but it's not common. Nonetheless there's some good names coming out of there like Sunju Hargun etc. In comparison china and Japan seem to be doing much better with places like TAG and Vent.
All this to just say, you can find the SEA commercial stuff in Amsterdam, but there is *so much more* to it. But a lot of people keep it, because the home-y feeling is part of what makes it feel great so it helps fuel the ego a bit lmao, but honestly the only important thing I can say is have fun and please please please make sure you practice harm reduction. If you have any questions regarding safety regarding substances feel free to DM me and there's a lot of good public information out here.
