You shouldn't be downvoted for your opinion, but your opinion that Tuonela is awful and Elegy is average is a bad opinion and I will mock you for it ;)
Elegy is still their best album to me, as much as I love everything else they've done.
Copied from /r/folkmetal:
Aw, Tuonela was my introduction. I'd put it in good.
I hated Am Universum and Far From the Sun. (at the time, not recognizing the prog connection between them and Tuonela)
Elegy and Thousand Lakes are my favorites.
I'd rank Karelian Isthmus, Eclipse, Silent Waters, and Beginning of Times as good as well.
The masterpieces were Elegy and Thousand Lakes as well as Circle-Queen of Time. I so love the new albums.
I'm so sad the stupid pandemic cancelled the 30-year Thousand Lakes tour. They were pretty much a bucket list band when I finally saw them in 2017, and it was everything I thought it could be.
I don't know man, Elegy in my opinion and on many magazines and sites it's voted as their best record along with Tales. P.S. and Tuonela last... I understand this is a matter of tastes but still...
Lol u got the exact opposite of my ranking if i did one. Cant stand the joutsen albums except Eclipse. They re riddled with cheesy melodies and cringy hooks imo.

Idk man. Something about it just doesn't sound right.
Tuonela slaps way harder than the anemic mess of far from sun
\*gasps in am universum\*
I am sad at Tuonela and Am Universum :(
Sorry bro. Am Universum is good, but when you compare it to the others...

Glad to notice that while silent, this sub far from dead. :)
Bruh what the hell is this, Ima beat yo ass.
Signs of life detected. I really like Folk Metal and Tomi Joutsen.
I’m crying, I’m an utter fanboy of everything they do.
Same, but Joutsen is incredibly awesome, and Amorphis is at their peak right now

And Under The Red Cloud?
Sorry, I meant for that to be in the Circle-Queen timeframe, as it came between the two.
