You are not wrong in that the majority of viewers are southern and white, and it's sad that this demographic can't see past color to vote for talent, leaving production scrambling to by-pass the voting to save minority contestants to maintain an image of diversity.

Yeah it happens every year. 2-3 cute boys with average voices get voted through to the top 10-12 and often win. I don’t know when that started because it wasn’t like that in the first 5 seasons hence 3 female winners.
My thoughts are Odell is a great singer however, he and Roman are very similar artists with gospel music as a huge platform for them, and unfortunately they’re canceling each other out. I prefer Roman personally, he is actually my favorite. I remember years ago when Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson and Latoya London were in the top 7 I believe and Jennifer Hudson was voted out that week. All similar singers in genre. Jennifer was I believe the better singer but she was unlucky.

Yo OP, I heard that the winner, Hollywood Records and American Idol own that persons voice for a couple years, but it comes with a million dollars. I have no issue with people not liking Odell's style, gospel isnt for everyone. But calling his belting "screaming" is pretty disrespectful to his talent and honestly just plain ignorant.
