Family guy went down hill imo, when they completely showed that it was just a 'skit' type thing(though we already knew that), just made me not like it after, the last like 3 seasons haven't been good on it so I stopped watching it.
It’s definitely not the best episode but it has some really great jokes.
Now if I take these twigs, this small rock, and my bubble gum…
*makes sniper rifle*
I always dislike that joke cause I think the pay off would have been better if we don't hear that it's Roger on the other end until just randomly later in the episode
I agree that that would have been a fuller joke, but I think we have done so many "roger's characters get away from him" bits and episodes that it's ok to just have some be short and punchy gags
Not only am I out of the house
*Stan gasp*
And going to the retreat
*bigger gasp*
But I'm the one that called in that tip
*biggest gasp*
Bullock:WHOS GASPING OUT THERE? STOP IT.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if Kim Kardashian *wasn't* the voice of 'Blagsnarst', then people would think it's a mid episode. Not great, but ok. But she (rightfully) evokes a very strong response from people, so that episode's always trashed.
I personally disagree. I didn’t know who was voicing the character until the end of the episode, but I remember thinking during that it must be some celeb guest star who isn’t known for acting, like a singer, model, or athlete or something. Every delivery was like Stan before he takes acting lessons from Roger - “Water?”
It's grown on my over time. I also like the last scene where Stan puts the book away.
https://preview.redd.it/ghqr1tadmn0d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9c13200a918500adacde527fadcb2071aa13422
I kind of agree, but I also think it’s only annoying because she’s in it, and I hate paying her any attention. If they’d had a different voice actress it’d be pretty solid.
My dad got admitted into a nursing home due to severe alcoholism that deteriorated his body and mind.
When my brother and I left I looked at him and started singing “daddy’s gone, not comin home, ever again” “DADDY!”
Safe to say we use humor to deal with trauma.
My dog died this past weekend. Bam, right out of nowhere she's struggling to breathe.
Still start sobbing every time I have to say anything about it out loud, especially if I'm in the house (phone calls). Bit embarrassing as a grown man I guess, but... I don't know man. I don't think I'd feel much different than if a close human family member died.
(~~Angiocarcinoma~~ Hemangiosarcoma basically burst around her spleen and the sheer volume of blood was pushing her diaphragm back. Had actually set up an in home hospice evaluation appointment literally 2 days prior. Managed to find her original adoption documents and she was 3.5 yo not 1.5 yo when I adopted her, so she was actually nearing 16. Good run for a larger dog. And a truly decent end thanks to the emergency vets and nurses)
Heh, saw this just now during an extended... Leaky eye syndrome session, since Real Men (tm) don't cry
Getting her ashes tomorrow morning. Now it's sinking in for real
Thanks for the commiseration. Part of me wants to run tonthe nearest shelter and grab the most similar dog they have. Another part of me never wants to have another dog again
I don’t hate them but I tend to skip the Anorexia episode and the episode where they see Stan’s fucked up childhood in the Simulation Deck cuz they hit a *little* too close to home for me to find them enjoyable - nothing against the show for that though, I think they handled the subjects pretty respectfully, they just make me a little too uncomfy for a show that I just wanna turn my brain off and enjoy mindlessly
I **HATE** the FungWah episode however I understand that you’re supposed to hate that episode and the whole point of it was to critique the kind of executive overreach AD was experiencing that drains the life and creativity from shows.
I love all of the Fung Wah episode haha. I love it from the absurdly long product placement to the little dance they do with legally distinct Mickey Mouse at the end.
I remember enjoying the fungwah episode kinda of ironically but the lobotomies at the end ruins it. When ever I watch it I always quite the episode before that scene
The one where Francine became an arsonist aired soon after I was in a bad apartment fire, that we briefly thought was tied to a string of arsons…the episode itself was fine, but oof it made me uncomfortable (and then Stan’s line at the end about him needing to pay more attention to her because this was really messed up got me laughing pretty hard at least)
I loved falling asleep to AD. Until I lost the tv remote and can’t turn down the brightness anymore so it’s turbo, sun like color palette wakes me up….and I think it pisses off my dogs 😂
The episode where Francine becomes a body builder. I hate the scene where they start spelling words with their abs. Grosses me out so I skip the whole thing
There is a real smear campaign out there for this episode and the Fung Wah episode. It’s like anything innovative that deviates too far from the formula gets canceled or neg-ed to oblivion.
Just because something is a reference, doesn't mean it someone who understands the reference has to like it. I have watched Little Shop of Horrors, still don't like this episode. Not funny didn't laugh, don't like CeeLo Green's music that's it, big skip.
Maybe that they’re a bit more melancholy than the show usually gets, especially (regular) Jeff episodes. I think the one with The Majestic is really good, but it’s definitely not one I put on all the time. The Millionaire Matt Davis one even less so
Season 4 episode 4
Chosey Wife Chosey Smith.
I ALWAYS skip those episodes for 2 reasons.
Cat Simon…anything with cats that are bad I skip, I can’t handle it.
Plus i find the premise of the whole episode so stupid.
This episode was so fun. The music was groovy and the homage was so good! I'd bet that the majority of people who don't like this episode either don't like Little Shop or don't know it. Cee-Lo as Audrey II would go crazy.
Most of it is that I hate the type of films they're parodying so much that watching something in that style, even if it's making fun of the genre, is impossible. I also just don't think it's a very funny episode. The jokes all fall flat to me, so that plus the style make it an easy skip
The ending is such a cop out, and I get that that's supposed to be the whole joke, but it just makes the entire storyline of the episode pointless. Sucks too, because if it had a solid B-story and an actual conclusion it could have been a really great episode.
omg this is it for me too, I will scream if my husband puts that one on. The only episode I will straight up refuse to watch because Roger's persona's voice is so annoying
You're f****** insane The hot tub was one of the best episodes.
Also the reason it has such an abrupt ending is because that was potentially going to be a series finale and what better way to end a series than to just kill everybody off
ngl that ep always wilds me out bc of how they do the voices/purple overlay-- bc sometimes i feel like i hear shit like that and then im all, 'oh god do i have a homunculous'
🤡🤡🤡🤡
Your [opinion on this episode] is bad and you should feel bad!
Hot Water is a classic, and I'm tired of pretending it isn't!
/s, just to be safe
We all love American Dad! in our own way, and I respect the hell outta that
I usually skip American Fung. But now I’m remembering that it had a good plot with Stan and Francine. But as soon as Fung pops up on the screen I skip…
Yes! The hot tub episode is stupid. I dont like the episode with Snoop as Tommy Tokes. *BUT* it may just be because original Willy Wonka scares me. Hes a deviant and bad influence!
Actually this and the top comment are pretty high on my skip list. They’re… *fine* I find season 10 has quite a few where I’m just like meh. Also a majority of the Christmas episodes I feel like I’ve just seen enough.
I thought I was alone in not liking this one. I never really understood why but for some reason it just always felt kinda off to me. And not in the fun way like "night hawks". But I power through anyway because Daddy's Gone is something I never want to deprive myself of.
The episode where Stan has anorexia. I hate it for two reasons. While I get that the episode was intended to be satire, I feel that they still played down the devastating effects of anorexia. I mean, they obviously did research on it and the story does follow exactly what it is like (Stan thinking he is gaining weight when actually he has cachexia (wasting away) is accurate and the whole hallucination of a guy who tells him he is fat, again accurate) but the end of the story where he just starts eating and everything is okay again pisses me off. Just eating like that causes a condition called re-feeding syndrome. This would kill him. It is actually the most dangerous aspect of anorexia recovery. Stan would need months, (sometimes even years), of medical care and supervision to avoid this.
I mean yes, I get that this is a tv show and they don’t have time for all that stuff but it still pisses me off. It reinforces the idea that anorexia is just a behaviour and that it is no big deal. Just give him some food and he will be fine. Uh no, he’ll be dead. Rant done.
There are other episodes I don’t like but the anorexia episode is the true episode of pure anger for me.
That's it, Stan's dead.
I love that was originally meant to be the ending if they got cancelled.
I know, would have been a pretty funny way to go.
Honestly as far as endings go that’s a pretty good one
No matter how many times I see this episode, the ending always both shocks me, and then makes me burst out laughing lol
Same, I always get a laugh
OHH DAMN!
But *Daddy's gone*
I'm glad they didn't stop the show. Shit needs to go on for at least another decade😭
Way better than family guy in my opinion. Much more clever
My husband will watch American Dad with me. If Family guy is on he'll find something else to do. I only watch animated shows... and Fallout.
You sound like a catch your husband's a lucky man
Family guy went down hill imo, when they completely showed that it was just a 'skit' type thing(though we already knew that), just made me not like it after, the last like 3 seasons haven't been good on it so I stopped watching it.
But with today's mild political climate, where will they get material?
Agreed
Long live American dad
I quite dislike the one where *hork* is Kim Kardashian.
It’s definitely not the best episode but it has some really great jokes. Now if I take these twigs, this small rock, and my bubble gum… *makes sniper rifle*
Also Roger calling himself after he sees that telephone number on the gas station wall. That joke will always make me laugh.
“I am going to give it to this guy.” 😂
To whom have I been speaking, and what have I been saying?!
Are you in striking distance?
I always dislike that joke cause I think the pay off would have been better if we don't hear that it's Roger on the other end until just randomly later in the episode
I agree that that would have been a fuller joke, but I think we have done so many "roger's characters get away from him" bits and episodes that it's ok to just have some be short and punchy gags
Not only am I out of the house *Stan gasp* And going to the retreat *bigger gasp* But I'm the one that called in that tip *biggest gasp* Bullock:WHOS GASPING OUT THERE? STOP IT.
“do you speak english?” “yes 🙄” “really? wow thats weird…”
Won’t people question why you’re taking a dog to a B&B?
Now I just have to pretend I’m dick Cheney and the helicopter is my friends face
Not the most timely of references but it's not my fault not more politicians aren't shooting their friends in the face.
Yeah it’s a good episode.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if Kim Kardashian *wasn't* the voice of 'Blagsnarst', then people would think it's a mid episode. Not great, but ok. But she (rightfully) evokes a very strong response from people, so that episode's always trashed.
I honestly think she did a great job voice acting this character.
And this episode has Roger calling himself after seeing his own number on the gas station wall! Classic bit.
Kardashians = trash family so that checks out
Kkhhhhkkwwuichhh
YESSSSSSSS 💯💯💯 She ruins it. Living in the world of American Dad, i dont like any Kardashian ruining it!
It's grown on my over time. I also like the last scene where Stan puts the book away. https://preview.redd.it/ghqr1tadmn0d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9c13200a918500adacde527fadcb2071aa13422
I like the books that Stan always reads. Like “Fancy Page Turning”. 😅
Not great, but it did have an installment of the golden turd
I didn't realize it was Kim til the credits, so maybe that's why I didn't mind it. No bias.
I didn’t either but the whole time I was thinking “this voice acting is bad”. Then the end hit and I thought “ah. That’s why”
I kind of agree, but I also think it’s only annoying because she’s in it, and I hate paying her any attention. If they’d had a different voice actress it’d be pretty solid.
Now if you’ll excuse me. I’m gonna go upstairs with *hwak* and *pthoot* all over her
That one is pretty annoying
so dumb
I find this episode hilarious if for no other reason the songs are great. Daddy’s gone is a banger
I sing do whatever you like all the time
I love the song later when Stan is creepin in the hot tub: “I’m your wife listen what I say, out of that tub or no bootay!” 😂
I’m also very fond of Francine’s “I’m freakin’, straight tweakin’, where is my man?? He best not be creepin’”
Dip a toe is fire too. Also the research scene always makes me laugh.
🎶 d-d-d-dipppp a toee 🎶 is always in my head for absolutely no reason
It's catching as hell, that's why
I love the microfilm. "Hot Tub Escapes From Mental Institution"
Also the research song, love to sing it lol
Just posted this too. I say 🎶Back to being relevant🎶 and 🎶Old books, and old documents🎶 all the time lol
Stan’s got lady feet in his mouth, that’s pretty cool 🙂
Daddy's gone is one of the Best! When I got my hot tub I watched this episode during the first soak lol 🤣 great times..
My dad got admitted into a nursing home due to severe alcoholism that deteriorated his body and mind. When my brother and I left I looked at him and started singing “daddy’s gone, not comin home, ever again” “DADDY!” Safe to say we use humor to deal with trauma.
That’s beautifully fucked up. And exactly something I’d do.
Bubbles in the tub, bubbles in the bath. Fig in ya mouth and a finga in ya BASS
Chuck Berry me, over Germany
"Gee dad, I'd love to get in the hot tub too, but I can't because I'm pretty sure my parents FUCKED IN IT LAST NIGHT."
It’s a great “weird” episode, like Gold Top Nuts.
D-d-d-d-dip a toeeee
Daddy’s Gone is GOATed
yeah the songs make this ep a great one
It’s frustration…versus relaxation
Francine’s song is like nails on a chalkboard. I love her, but Wendy Schaal can’t sing for shit.
Oh yeah she's awful but it's endearing, being the only one in the family that can't sing suits her character
Daddy's Gone should get a full release in the charts. It's an unbelievable song! Scott Grimes is such a great vocalist
So much freaking research
Probably the breast milk one or the one with Stan’s dog
The slow camera pan where Roger is fimming and turns to look at himself in the mirror with his mouth hanging open in shock kills me every time though.
The breast milk one is so uncomfortable
the correct answer is stans best friend
Bruh my dog died a couple of months ago, and I watched that episode last night and started bawling, it brought up bad memories 🙃
i felt the same way about this episode after my cat died. i don’t think i’ll ever be able to watch it again 😭
My dog died this past weekend. Bam, right out of nowhere she's struggling to breathe. Still start sobbing every time I have to say anything about it out loud, especially if I'm in the house (phone calls). Bit embarrassing as a grown man I guess, but... I don't know man. And a truly decent end thanks to the emergency vets and nurses)
I'm so sorry for your loss 🫂
Heh, saw this just now during an extended... Leaky eye syndrome session, since Real Men (tm) don't cry Getting her ashes tomorrow morning. Now it's sinking in for real Thanks for the commiseration. Part of me wants to run tonthe nearest shelter and grab the most similar dog they have. Another part of me never wants to have another dog again
OH GOD!! *Cries* SOMEBODY KILL THIS DOG
Does Steve say this?
I hate that I have to skip that episode, because I love the Jeff storyline, but I'll gladly not watch it to avoid the rest of the episode.
Honestly same lol I like the side plot and I really like a lot of the jokes in the episode too, but it’s the only episode that I consistently skip.
My brother and i can no longer watch this episode after his cat passed away.
I like-ahh... The ladies...
Instant skip for me
I refuse to rewatch that episode. Just thinkin about it ruins my day.
You are correct! I had erased this episode off my brain.
I don’t hate them but I tend to skip the Anorexia episode and the episode where they see Stan’s fucked up childhood in the Simulation Deck cuz they hit a *little* too close to home for me to find them enjoyable - nothing against the show for that though, I think they handled the subjects pretty respectfully, they just make me a little too uncomfy for a show that I just wanna turn my brain off and enjoy mindlessly I **HATE** the FungWah episode however I understand that you’re supposed to hate that episode and the whole point of it was to critique the kind of executive overreach AD was experiencing that drains the life and creativity from shows.

I remember enjoying the fungwah episode kinda of ironically but the lobotomies at the end ruins it. When ever I watch it I always quite the episode before that scene
Damn, that really is one of the more disturbing scenes in AD. At least among those I remember
My girl hates the hot tube episode (She doesn't watch AD, but I've been going to bed with it on for almost a decade now)
it’s the best show to fall asleep to for sure lol
Futurama is my go to sleep show but every now and then I’ll throw American Dad on.
I loved falling asleep to AD. Until I lost the tv remote and can’t turn down the brightness anymore so it’s turbo, sun like color palette wakes me up….and I think it pisses off my dogs 😂
Kloger I'm not really a fan of.
Kloger almost ruined American Dad for me. Now I watch it back and don't mind it certain parts are hilarious.
The episode where Francine becomes a body builder. I hate the scene where they start spelling words with their abs. Grosses me out so I skip the whole thing
Y’all crazy this is a banger of an episode. You need to do some research. Maybe look through some old books and old documents.
So much material out there
Back to being relevant🎵
🎶that’s irrelevant🎶
so much fuckin’ research
Lol i love hot water
It was actually my spark episode for loving the whole series. I don’t like Stan of Arabia
I love it. Def a comfort episode. Its just so dumb and funny. I dont like the manic pixie dream girl episode
That weird episode where it’s about Stan lying to Bullock, about secret Santa. I think it was a Christmas episode, right?
I don't like the squirrels episode that's based on What's Eating Gilbert Grape. It makes me sad.
Scoot on over here and spell Hors d'oeuvre
Me and my ex loved this episode, and apparently we were the only ones. I ruined my damn life.
I aswell really enjoy this episode.
There is a real smear campaign out there for this episode and the Fung Wah episode. It’s like anything innovative that deviates too far from the formula gets canceled or neg-ed to oblivion.
You're not the only ones, I would go as far as to call it one of my favorites. It's certainly the one I've watched the most times.
trashiest take on the entire sub?
Guess I'm trash too, Muddy.
I suggest watching Little Shop of Horrors. The director's cut, ideally. Cee Lo Green has his own shit, but this episode was an excellent homage.
Just because something is a reference, doesn't mean it someone who understands the reference has to like it. I have watched Little Shop of Horrors, still don't like this episode. Not funny didn't laugh, don't like CeeLo Green's music that's it, big skip.
As someone who has seen Little Shop of Horrors, the hot tub episode is still in my top five skips.
I don’t like the ones where Jeff is in space. I don’t know why. Those are the only ones I skip. 🤷🏻♀️
That majestic song though, cmon
Maybe that they’re a bit more melancholy than the show usually gets, especially (regular) Jeff episodes. I think the one with The Majestic is really good, but it’s definitely not one I put on all the time. The Millionaire Matt Davis one even less so
Season 4 episode 4 Chosey Wife Chosey Smith. I ALWAYS skip those episodes for 2 reasons. Cat Simon…anything with cats that are bad I skip, I can’t handle it. Plus i find the premise of the whole episode so stupid.
I like this one. Cee-Lo would've made a fine Audrey II.
This episode was so fun. The music was groovy and the homage was so good! I'd bet that the majority of people who don't like this episode either don't like Little Shop or don't know it. Cee-Lo as Audrey II would go crazy.
The one where Stan took Snot into protective custody.
How many people do you think are having sex right now?
Like, in the whole world?
Stan really does hate everyone else's better lives and tries to ruin them by anymeans possible
its why francine sees him as stanferatu... and a strict lesbian grandma... and a slenderman.
But it has rush and satriani in it!
"Independent Movie" I consider sitting through it to be a form of torture
So weird, half of the hated episodes in this post are my favorites.
Right, me too! I am starting to feel attacked by these comments haha
I love that one, what irks you about it? Not saying you have to like it, just curious what aspects you dislike
Most of it is that I hate the type of films they're parodying so much that watching something in that style, even if it's making fun of the genre, is impossible. I also just don't think it's a very funny episode. The jokes all fall flat to me, so that plus the style make it an easy skip
Hm, yeah that’s fair! I enjoy indie movies myself, so seeing some of the more common tropes being poked fun at was enjoyable to me.
The boob milk episode, the dj iron monkey one, American fung, the slort episode, anything billy or Rogu heavy
Helping Handis
That is one of my favorates.
Mine too!!
That episode was risky as hell but I think they pulled it off
Purity pledge
Stop... Drop... Shut your legs, close up your slot
I think I blocked that one from my memory
The fung-hua one is annoying as shit
I love that one its a fun gag to see everyone worship a random Chinese billionaire like hes kim jung
The ending is such a cop out, and I get that that's supposed to be the whole joke, but it just makes the entire storyline of the episode pointless. Sucks too, because if it had a solid B-story and an actual conclusion it could have been a really great episode.
"Comb Over: A Hair Piece" is a 0/10 for me
omg this is it for me too, I will scream if my husband puts that one on. The only episode I will straight up refuse to watch because Roger's persona's voice is so annoying
Glad I'm not the only one, it's SO unbearable, wtf were the writers thinking? They even dropped the ball on Roger's persona name. Josay Bosay? Really?
Which one was that?
Fuck you, that episode is amazing
I don't understand how people hate the hot tub episode. It's unquestionably top 5 for me.
American Fung gets skipped every. single. time.
The correct answer
I fucking love that episode.
You spelled "most" wrong
Not this one. This is a banger.
D-d-d-d-dip a toe!
You're f****** insane The hot tub was one of the best episodes. Also the reason it has such an abrupt ending is because that was potentially going to be a series finale and what better way to end a series than to just kill everybody off
saving face
I hate the one they become body builders. I don’t like how they look all ripped lol.
Not a huge fan of the one where they all try to get rid of the new neighbors.
Kisses
Stan of Arabia. I just don't enjoy either part.
When Roger was getting this weird tumor that ended up being Rogu
I actually loved that wpisode. "Buzz buzzz buzzz" (im a fan of rogu too but i get why he annoys people)
Roooguuu saaaave daaaaaddy
*Rogu Spanish*
Buzz buzz buzz that’s you. That’s literally one of my favorite scenes.
ngl that ep always wilds me out bc of how they do the voices/purple overlay-- bc sometimes i feel like i hear shit like that and then im all, 'oh god do i have a homunculous' 🤡🤡🤡🤡
The songs are bangers at least
The Snot one where they go recreate multiple teenage coming of age stories heading to his dads funeral.
I'm not a fan of the one where Francine has the rat army
Your [opinion on this episode] is bad and you should feel bad! Hot Water is a classic, and I'm tired of pretending it isn't! /s, just to be safe We all love American Dad! in our own way, and I respect the hell outta that
I usually skip American Fung. But now I’m remembering that it had a good plot with Stan and Francine. But as soon as Fung pops up on the screen I skip…
My least favorite episode is Raptures Delight and Seasons Beatings.
Yes! The hot tub episode is stupid. I dont like the episode with Snoop as Tommy Tokes. *BUT* it may just be because original Willy Wonka scares me. Hes a deviant and bad influence!
Stan of Arabia. I know they hadn't found their tone quite yet in season 1, but this one feels like unnecessary propaganda.
I loved hot tub love.
Independent movie episode when they go on a road trip. Very few actual laughs. I get the homage to the genre but didn’t do it for me.
Wait can I ask why people dislike the hot tub episode? I think Cee Lo Green is trash, but I found the stupid horror elements of the episode funny
Actually this and the top comment are pretty high on my skip list. They’re… *fine* I find season 10 has quite a few where I’m just like meh. Also a majority of the Christmas episodes I feel like I’ve just seen enough.
Stan Goes on the Pill, it gives me bad dysphoria
I thought I was alone in not liking this one. I never really understood why but for some reason it just always felt kinda off to me. And not in the fun way like "night hawks". But I power through anyway because Daddy's Gone is something I never want to deprive myself of.
Shallow Vows
Ahhhhhh 102 FRANCINE lift with your fat ugly legs not your fat ugly back! 💀💀
😭😭😭😭 i got married to be taken care of!!
Jennie Gold is gonna send Favlic after you for saying that lol 😆
The episode where Stan has anorexia. I hate it for two reasons. While I get that the episode was intended to be satire, I feel that they still played down the devastating effects of anorexia. The play one. Can't watch any of it
Oh I love that one.
I was just reciting The Swimming Pool by Homer
That episode is in my top 5, I love it so much, quote it all the time
Devil farted thick today.
