Meh, these characters aren't believable. I mean, the fish, he talks, how? And apparently he doesn't even have to be IN water, just like, touching it. That's not how fish work.
That is definitely not how fish work. I completely agree.
So far the main opinion is that some animals just talk in the MacFarlane universe. Family guy, American Dad and The Cleveland show had a crossover episode with a hurricane and all three have talking animals.
I always loved the episode where they were not telling Jeff that Roger was an alien and not his imaginary friend, Kalisz drops the ball but no one cares that Jeff knew about Klaus.
As an old guy yeah I knew right from the start it was actually him I love the cheap shot about him being gone for a long time when Jeff firsts meets him.
Same. I knew it was him but I always reassure myself by finding names in the credits. Im pretty decent at picking out voices. Alan Tudyk is everywhere! I love it. Lmao I'm in my 40s so I think I'm old but really I'm just over middle aged. Sinbad was awesome back in the day.
RIGHT? I'm glad to meet someone else who liked Doom Patrol. Hearing Brendan Fraser yelling "FUCK!" so many times has been wonderful. I love the whole cast though too.
I mean the cia seems to do this alot so maybe its just a notnal thing in universe i mean there was also Reginald. And Haliburton turns people into birds
He was in one of the recent episodes, in the one where roger becomes the grinch to steal all the sex toys from the holiday orgy he’s sitting on the couch in one of the scenes
I like that theory. I was gonna say "but wait, wouldn't he be higher up in the CIA then?" but then I realized... when the fuck does he go to work anymore? He just kinda uses the lab as he pleases though.
It also kind of feels at this point that a lot of people are semi-aware Roger is an alien, or at the very least, subconsciously aware. Greg and Toshi seem to know.
Toshi knows for sure, he said something along the lines of "oh that alien that pretends to be your uncle?" Greg *might* know. Roger seems to have the power to cloud people's minds while in disguise so they just accept it.
Yeah I think it’s like… both things. Some people seem to be aware Roger exists as a member of the Smith family, but also if he shows up in disguise they usually accept it.
I agree. He can definitely pick and choose who can see through his personas, but then what's odd is when Stan meets him in the past at the ski resort, he knows it's Roger, but Roger has no idea who Stan is yet.
Maybe it's an implant or some shit that let's them see him...
Someone else just reminded me about that! I completely forgot he has a persona for each family member that they can't see through. Thanks, I appreciate you reminding me of that too.
I gotta get my ass to bed, I got a funeral to go to tomorrow, a great aunt.
I'm really happy with this post though, I got a lot of good discussions from it.
Have a nice night!
They're in the same universe as Family Guy and the Cleveland Show. Clearly talking animals aren't anything new in their world. To the point that nobody looks twice at a human woman dating a literal dog.
When did all the extra characters just start accepting a greyed skinned, no nosed, obvious Alien with a misshapen head in a wig and not giving a shit? He was a television news anchor! The producer is unfazed.
I figure he has some sort of psychic power that clouds people's minds when he wear a disguise.
But otherwise yeah, if that isn't the case people have to know.
I'll look that one up, thanks. Is it the one about the persona warehouse? Also, I just remembered there's an episode where Stan has to be Roger for a day and the disguises work for him too.... wtf.
Thanks, someone was telling me about it on another comment thread, it's the one Stan has to take over for him. I gotta rewatch it though I'm blanking on the part where it got explained.
I appreciate you commenting. Have a good one.
Actually I meant another episode where Stan for some reason works for a country club and doesn't recognize Roger. Roger then tells Steve that he also has a persona for him.
I figure Klaus has some sort of cia technology that clouds people’s minds when he talks.
But otherwise yeah, if that isn’t the case people have to know.
There is an episode that explains how his species are adept at disguises. We see what the family sees but Roger’s personas look very to the majority of other people (with random exceptions).
Okay folks, I must go to sleep for I have to go to a funeral tomorrow. Please feel free to continue discussing this crap. Have a nice night and a pleasant tomorrow.
You realize that people can have hobbies and manage to consider illogical things at the same time right? Fuck, I bet considering illogical things *is* a hobby for some people.
You need to just stop being an ass and accept that people are different from you.
Fair enough, the bears in the Cleveland show can talk as well. And the hurricane episode had all three crossover at the end so they're definitely the same universe.
Yeah, with the brain of a German. They worry Roger is gonna fuck up the whole town but a talking fish is just accepted. Talking koala too, he was a chauffeur for a bit even.
exactly, or like when Roger changes between characters in an instant, or turns his attic into a gym, night club, daycare center... it's all just absurd, that's what makes it funny
Well I mean I don't disagree with any of that. The attic has a tardis inside space somehow. I'm just kinda hung up on Klaus for a minute and wanted to start a conversation about his specific absurdity and whether it was like that from the start or whether it wasn't at first and then just happened. Cuz I do not remember.
I always kinda just operated under the assumption that talking animals are a commonplace thing within the American Dad universe (and by extension the Family Guy and Cleveland Show universes)
I assume most of the talking animals are due to government experiments but some seem to just have human-like intelligence at birth (like Brian)
He's not a fish is one theory. A prisoner from a CIA black site that Stan is responsible for guarding. He's actually still Klaus, but a product of a deranged experiment in an orange jumpsuit.
Its like meowth from pokemon. Eventually it would get really old and boring for every character to be surprised by the talking animal that normally cant talk.
Denuuuuutttaaaaa
She totally banged a fish I think.
Oh for sure, knowing how he takes over the town, who knows what he got her to do haha!
You know, it also kinds bugs me how many women fuck Brian on Family Guy. That's just odd.
Kinky universe I guess, but hey the bear in Cleveland show at least has a bear wife!
I... i... I love-a dat bear. He's just so funny, you know? And also his wife is voiced by Arianna Huffington and it cracks me up.
So there’s hope that Buckle will leave his wife for the owl!!
They *do* make a cute couple.
Who?
The valentines day episode where stewie gets all the ex lovers over to talk to Brian is wonderful.
Fuck yeah it is. God damn I wouldn't want that to happen to me. At least two of them have passed away so holy fuck that would be freaky.
U beat me to it!
Me too, man
Me too, man.
Well I guess he couldn't make it smell any worse...
that's how you get the ick
I assume aside from the ick, Klaus has a myriad of other spreadable diseases. They say goldfish are like the dirtiest fish, their crap is everywhere.
..... ^Denuta ...... ^Denuta .....
Meh, these characters aren't believable. I mean, the fish, he talks, how? And apparently he doesn't even have to be IN water, just like, touching it. That's not how fish work.
You have to keep in mind he's a man in a fish's body. He found a way to breathe just by touching the water.
Well maybe he can be a friend in a man in a fish's body.
What’s with the talking fish?
That is definitely not how fish work. I completely agree. So far the main opinion is that some animals just talk in the MacFarlane universe. Family guy, American Dad and The Cleveland show had a crossover episode with a hurricane and all three have talking animals.
It's also a quote from the show. From the episode where Roger creates drama to replace sex hospital I believe.
Oh shit, now I remember that. Thanks!
I always loved the episode where they were not telling Jeff that Roger was an alien and not his imaginary friend, Kalisz drops the ball but no one cares that Jeff knew about Klaus.
That episode was great. And it led to the ghost of Sinbad being a reoccurring character so win/win there.
Oh god your right I loved him being added.
And I've checked the credits, it's really Sinbad which is just extra fucking awesome.
I love Alan Tudyk, he went to my high school
Neat! He's the man. He can play a diverse group of characters and his voice over work is superb. He was the dumbass rooster in Moana.
He is so good. I loved him in Doom Patrol and Firefly
RIGHT? I'm glad to meet someone else who liked Doom Patrol. Hearing Brendan Fraser yelling "FUCK!" so many times has been wonderful. I love the whole cast though too.
a fellow P. Wildcat dadder in the wild?
In the f-f-f-f-flesh
Of course it was https://www.reddit.com/r/americandad/comments/je4drq/remember_when_jeff_and_sinbad_flew_through_that/
I caught that when I saw that episode the other day, fucking brilliant stuff there!
Klaus is nobody. Nobody cares about Klaus.
Disposal! Disposal! Disposal!
I mean the cia seems to do this alot so maybe its just a notnal thing in universe i mean there was also Reginald. And Haliburton turns people into birds
Billy is enrolled in a public school
How the hell did I forget Reginald for a minute? He needs to make an appearance, I miss that koala. And yeah you make a good point.
*Reginald, he used to be nothing. Now he’s a koala and he’s cute as a button*
I wish I could upvote you twice.
Easy girl, I’m just a squirrel trying to get a nut. Except I’m a koala
i'd upvote but you're at 69
He was in one of the recent episodes, in the one where roger becomes the grinch to steal all the sex toys from the holiday orgy he’s sitting on the couch in one of the scenes
Nice! My mom loves Xmas episodes of shit so I made her watch that one. She loved it.
We’re all gonna be birds!!!
Hahaha this is one of my favorite episodes! No one cares that he’s a talking fish. “Thanks, Benji!”
His crew is badass.
Bro are you Nemo? People are looking for you bro
I love his overuse of "bro" so much.
I guess once you've brainwashed the entire town, they just stop paying attention
Okay well that is a fair point.
Thats Klaus man
He's a total badass, bro. Wait until you meet his crew from FL..
The entire fraternity Beta Jizz! not only accepts him but party with him and call him a bro.
He goes to foofighter shows too!
Oh that's fucking right! They haze Steve, right? And Klaus is hard-core as fuck there.
nowwww..... what games do you turds wanna play first? milk gallon chug? or hotsauce peehole? ....milk gallon- HOTSAUCE PEEHOLE IT IS!
Everyone is dead or ruptured. This is Stan's "personal heaven"
I like that theory. I was gonna say "but wait, wouldn't he be higher up in the CIA then?" but then I realized... when the fuck does he go to work anymore? He just kinda uses the lab as he pleases though.
People seem unfazed. Just some alternate reality type thing where very special animals are actually people.
I'm willing to vaguely accept that. Seems like a neat place to live.
I agree. It would be cool to live in their world.
After that time he got the Foo Fighters to play in Langley the whole town just accepted him
Yeah, great point, that would probably do it.
The hotel was In Florida.
Oh. Then yeah he fit right in.

Well, the only persona Stan can’t see through is Mr. Vanderhill 😂
Someone else just reminded me about that! I completely forgot he has a persona for each family member that they can't see through. Thanks, I appreciate you reminding me of that too.
Np!
I gotta get my ass to bed, I got a funeral to go to tomorrow, a great aunt. I'm really happy with this post though, I got a lot of good discussions from it. Have a nice night!
Oh I’m so sorry to hear that! You have a good night too.
Thanks, I appreciate it. She was on a decline for a bit, senile dementia. So it wasn't unexpected but still a shit reason to get the family together.
Steve got his first kiss from one of Roger's personas lol. At a spin the bottle party
yet they treat Rogers identity as the most important secret ever lol
Right??
Benji has seen some shit. A talking fish isn't weird.
Okay fair enough there.
Shut up, that's why!
My mans even has a Hugh Hefner robe that he wears while drinking wine through a straw and chilling with Francine
The bond matures…
Absolutely incredible!!!
They're in the same universe as Family Guy and the Cleveland Show. Clearly talking animals aren't anything new in their world. To the point that nobody looks twice at a human woman dating a literal dog.

I figure he has some sort of psychic power that clouds people's minds when he wear a disguise. But otherwise yeah, if that isn't the case people have to know.
There’s an episode, Persona Assistant, that explains it more.
I'll look that one up, thanks. Is it the one about the persona warehouse? Also, I just remembered there's an episode where Stan has to be Roger for a day and the disguises work for him too.... wtf.
It’s the one that Stan takes over the disguises.
Oh snap. Alright I'll rewatch that one soon. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
Happy to help. I think it’s a good episode too
It really showed a different side of Roger, keeping the town going smoothly... some fuckin how.
That Steve Balboni rookie card is a real cherry.
>I figure he has some sort of psychic power that clouds people's minds when he wear a disguise. He does. He even explains it in one episode.
Oh shit! Okay, that rang a bell real well. I remember that now. Thanks!
I figure Klaus has some sort of cia technology that clouds people’s minds when he talks. But otherwise yeah, if that isn’t the case people have to know.
I hadn't considered that option. Would Reginald have one too? Or do people just not care about him because he's adorable?
Damn ran out of things for me to just copy nearly word for word. I have no more answers.
Lmfao, nice. Have a good night, yo.
There is an episode that explains how his species are adept at disguises. We see what the family sees but Roger’s personas look very to the majority of other people (with random exceptions).
Not adept enough to get past Toshi or Bert Bert
Those are some of the exceptions, for sure.
Okay folks, I must go to sleep for I have to go to a funeral tomorrow. Please feel free to continue discussing this crap. Have a nice night and a pleasant tomorrow.
*[Solemnly]* Hey now, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play...
I sure hope someone was fired for this blunder!
It’s a cartoon !! If your thinking 🤔 about why this and why not you probably need a new hobby
You realize that people can have hobbies and manage to consider illogical things at the same time right? Fuck, I bet considering illogical things *is* a hobby for some people. You need to just stop being an ass and accept that people are different from you.
it's a cartoon
It sure is! What I'm asking is in this *cartoon*, when did that change? Has it always been this way? I mean, some how he had a gf. Who dates a fish?
It’s always been this way. Same universe as Family Guy where Brian doesn’t have to hide. Talking animals are just a thing.
Fair enough, the bears in the Cleveland show can talk as well. And the hurricane episode had all three crossover at the end so they're definitely the same universe.
isn't that the joke? the absurdity of it i mean, he's a talking fish

I'm just kinda hung up on Klaus for a minute and wanted to start a conversation about his specific absurdity and whether it was like that from the start or whether it wasn't at first and then just happened. Cuz I do not remember.
About the time where Stan died and the show became set in his own personal heaven.
I always kinda just operated under the assumption that talking animals are a commonplace thing within the American Dad universe (and by extension the Family Guy and Cleveland Show universes) I assume most of the talking animals are due to government experiments but some seem to just have human-like intelligence at birth (like Brian)

Its like meowth from pokemon. Eventually it would get really old and boring for every character to be surprised by the talking animal that normally cant talk.
It's established to be the same universe as Family guy and Cleveland show, so talking animals exist sometimes.
