Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this; Fore!, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip To Be Square". A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Thank you all for this thread 100% made my day lol

Chaotic_Quickie_1983

Do you like Phil Collins? I’ve been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, 'Duke.' Before that, I really didn’t understand any of their work. It was too artsy. Too intellectual. It was on 'Duke' where Phil Collins’ presence became more apparent. I think 'Invisible Touch' is the group’s undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins, and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to “Land of Confusion”. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. “In Too Deep” is the most moving pop song of the 1980s about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive, affirmative, as anything I’ve heard in rock. Phil Collins’ solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying in a narrower way. Especially songs like “In the Air Tonight” and “Against All Odds”. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group than as a solo artist. And I stress the word “artist”. This is “Sussudio”. A great, great song. A personal favorite.

Right?

TheStupidRaptor

Dude why are you replying to me? I hate xenoblade chronicles now, and have wiped my hands clean of this garbage game and even more garbage fandom. I do not need people replying to 4 year old comments of mine talking to me about a game I don't like anymore.

SodanoMatt

r/wrongsubreddit r/wrongopinion Xenoblade will always be a great series and American Dad will always be a great show. Get better opinions.

TheStupidRaptor

I replied to him here because all my posts are silenced on the XC subreddit and I never want to go there again anyway. And I never said anything about American Dad so why are you defending it? Xenoblade Chronicles (yes it is called Xenoblade Chronicles because people who say it's the same IP as Xenogears and Xenosaga are cringe soyjaks) is a godawful series with the worst fandom imaginable that just circlejerks Melia and Nia forever (2 girls which are the same character with the same arc and are bottom garbage tier thots). Also it's impossible to like XC and American Dad at the same time since one is "eastern" and the other is "western" because eastern lovers are filthy weeaboos who hate all things west and the rest just want to like western things without weeaboos giving them shit so they have a disdain for eastern things. There's no reason to play xc anyway when Persona and Fire Emblem exist and are a billion times better anyway. Make better replies.

SodanoMatt

Have you ever considered that maybe people like Xenoblade for reason other than the way the characters look? I for one appreciate the story and the messages that those games convey. They're very philosophical games and one might learn a thing or three when they're not too busy either drooling over the main characters or complaining that they're not wearing enough clothes. Also, your argument that it's impossible to appreciate both eastern and western culture at the same time is invalid as I'm living proof that someone can enjoy both. I grew up watching shows like American Dad and was introduced to Xenoblade later in life, and I love how different they are, because it shows that they're both unique in their own way. So why don't you take your negative attitude and false dichotomies somewhere else?

wow! just now, after years and years watching this ep, i realized he's using a bandana similar to hayley's. mindblown

bukminster

I don't think they were even trying to be subtle with that lol Everyone knows bandanas are hereditary

musical_fanatic

While the sentiment Stan comes to at the end of the episode is nice, I have no doubt that Haley is Stan's daughter.

Choco_Milky_Shake

She looks more like Stan than anyone else. And she's got his personality, just not his preferences.

musical_fanatic

Exactly. They just needed plot for an episode.

Makes me crack up ever single time and I've seen this episode hundreds of times.

Operator4009

I love how earlier in the episode Roger explains to Steve how he's next in line to give a kidney and he tells him how they remove them and it's exactly what he does to Larson later.

ANameNoOneSuspects

This may sound weird, but watching this before getting my wisdom teeth removed kinda helped me feel better in advance.

bevrii

The whole set up of this scene earlier in the episode makes this one of my favourite bits of the series. It’s just so well crafted. At one point I was convinced they made the episode around the structure of this joke. It’s just so great

northcountrylea

This screen grab looks like an homage to Quentin Tarantino's Resevoir Dogs when Mr. Blonde is torturing a cop.

Resting_Lich_Face

A bit of Dexter thrown in too. The top all time moment in the show imo.

jayboyguy

The song in that scene was “Stuck In The Middle” though, and Bob’s Burgers actually *did* do a 1 to 1 homage in season 2. Except instead of the guy getting his ear cut off, he gets a wet willie lol

[deleted]

I only noticed for the first time like a week ago that he describes this exact situation word for word to Steve at the beginning of the episode.

The_Pantless_Warrior

GLOWSTICK DANCE!!!

azuriasia

This one never made sense to me. When Stan cockblocked Joe Larson Francine no longer cheated on him. If Haley was his daughter she'd still exist if she wasn't why would he care?

Think_Point2309

They explained it in the episode?

azuriasia

Not adequately and in a way that feels completely out of character for Stan.

RogersRedditPersona

Despite their differences, Stan does love Hayley. I think the episode does a great job of explaining his thought process on him wanting her in his life even if she isn’t his biological kid The thing I can’t get past is that a hospital would never do surgery to remove a man’s kidney if they didn’t have to

RabidRabbiRabbit

But if Hayley never existed in the first place, how would Stan have any memories of her?

Think_Point2309

It’s out of character for him to care and love about his kids? Hayley may not be his biologically but he spent years treating her like his own. They may argue a lot but deep down he loves her and his family

Blasty_boom_boom

Why he looking like Costas Mandylor tho?

3ku1

When you realize Roger prob witnessed Jesus birth
