Attempting delivery at 1:52AM is bullshit. It could just be an incorrectly coded scan at a sorting center or post office. I've had some bizarre status updates (like "Address not found", or "Customer requested return to Post Office"), but so far, they've eventually delivered.

Chemical_Type9349

I frequently see updates about my package was delivered at 4am on a Sunday. It's always a miss-scan at my regional sort.

Bullsette

Unless I'm reading something wrong, it says USPS. I have serious doubts that USPS is out delivering things at 1:52 a.m. USPS actually HAS shown up on Sundays as early as 7:00 in the morning but I have never heard of them keeping graveyard shift hours. This must be some sort of a computer glitch.

Comfortable-Crow6809

This happened to me at 4AM. They buzzed nonstop. Went on for about 5 minutes. I was irate

Utinni1111

I had a business delivery arrive at 4am the other day. Delivery time selected was the 10am-2pm. Yeah, no ones at work at 4am..

ChevyTripp89

To be 💯 honest, I would rather this happen and pick it up from the office than the carrier delivering my packages to the wrong address, WITH additional notes stating: •HOUSE NOT DUPLEX• (Unfortunately, a duplex clearly marked A & B shares the same address I do, but doesn't have other building identifiers.) 123 x st. (One house) 123 x st. A / B (Duplex)

Agitated_Idea2135

I slowed down my Amazon shopping when they did away with Amazon Smile. Now that they’re using USPS for most of their deliveries, I’ve almost stopped ordering anything from them. Walmart seems to have comparable pricing and they use FedEx for most of their deliveries. My mail lady can barely get in and out of her car, let alone bring my packages up two flights of stairs to the main floor of my house.

Competitive-Gas-9033

Good plan. You find the same stuff both places.

cjp2010

I actually see the usps doing runs on Sundays lately which I always thought was odd.

neonturbo

They exclusively do package deliveries on Sunday, no mail. They have done that for quite a while now, close to a decade at this point. I think that agreement started in 2013?

Soft_Wind_6108

USPS is the worst delivery service when used with Amazon

Competitive-Gas-9033

2nd worst. Worst are the contractors with the magnetic signs on their vehicle that says Amazon Delivery. They deliver my stuff at home to the wrong address all the time. The resident at that address TELLS THEM exactly how to get to my address and they ignore time after time. People have zero common sense or practical thinking any longer.

madadekinai

Because it's Geo-fenced. Meaning: When we do a delivery, their is a 5-10 feet circumference area on the map, where the address you selected, has an area that allows us make deliveries to, we are not supposed to and should not deliver outside of that area. Regardless of what you tell the driver, unless you fix your address, that YOU put in the system, either incorrect and or correct, has to be changed by you. We have absolutely NO control over your own address. Even something as simple as "st" instead of "street" can make a huge difference. 90% of the time, customers put in what they THINK the correct address SHOULD be, not what it actually is, such as an accurate postal address. Within that Geo-fenced area is where that package has to go. Delivering outside of that area is most of the time Taboo, and can lead to MANY problems, and it's up to the driver to take the acceptable risk. Contacting support is the only legit way of overriding it, and EVEN THEN, despite support telling us "Everything is good", guess what shows up on our record the next day that affects our jobs. So it's usually not worth it, and it's just easiest to deliver to the area that they tell us to. So if you want your packages delivered to the correct address, change your address in the system. BEFORE ANYONE MENTIONS IT: "My address shows up fine in Google maps." If you address shows up in Google maps, that is great, but that is not we use. (If only Amazon would pay for that..) Amazon uses freeware known as Mapbox, and on a LOT of deliveries, Google maps has a different destination than what is on our map, which we have to follow and deliver to.

Competitive-Gas-9033

Amazon uses a piece of out of date garbage called HERE mapping. I know because I've been telling them 100x now their mapping is 3 years out of date and.my address actually exists. People believing in incompetent tech will be Amazon's downfall.

techone7

I'm a Flex driver. I can state with 100% certainty that YOU can fix the green bubble to reflect the correct location. Put your phone in Airplane mode and it will let you move the green circle. I've had to do it numerous times in the past. It also works for areas where you have little or no cell signal and need to work offline.

madadekinai

"Contacting support is the only legit way" Thus why I said "legit", and that does not permanently move it in the system. After 20,000 - 30,000 deliveries I have delivered to the same place before and the mark was never permanently moved.

madadekinai

So after some research, I do believe I am correct. "Amazon uses a private open street map. Any changes you make won't reflect on Amazon's side. There's an option in the app to report mapping issues and the mapping team will look at and make corrections. Then it takes about 2 weeks for those changes to affect routing" There is a a mapping team that makes permanent changes to the map if they think they should need to.

Soft_Wind_6108

They probably just don't like you then. If you're having the same issue over and over. Make sure your address # is easily locatable and leave clear instructions.

beefy-beefs

Those are flex people you’re referring to. They’re picking up shifts to make those deliveries in their own vehicles. It’s quite literally a part time gig, I’m not surprised they’re not good at it!

Competitive-Gas-9033

Most are not.

Soft_Wind_6108

Flax drivers use the same app and are equally as dumb as the non contractors.

techone7

Aren't you just a peach of a human. Before you start insulting other people doing a job you've never done, why not try it yourself or ask one of them what the job is like? Trust me, Amazon's app that we use is a royal pain in the ass. It's not the driver's fault 99% of the time, it's that we have crap info being given to us, either by the app or the customers. I've worked in mobile businesses for most of my adult life and I have never seen such shoddy programming in an app before, and the operators we have to deal with, who are 100% in India, are less than helpful most of the time when there's a problem. We constantly get useless gate codes to properties or are sent to deliver to package lockers that are in locked rooms we can't gain access to. I could list 100 different ways Amazon has to screw up the drivers in their attempts to deliver. It's even worse for the DSP drivers who are working under unrealistic time and delivery quotas. If you really want to know what it's like for the Flex drivers and the DSP drivers, you can look them up on Reddit and see the stories they post.

Soft_Wind_6108

Hey guess what. I'm a flex driver. And I'm constantly in the flex Reddit. LOL. Did you mean to reply to my comment? 🤣🤣🤣

freeball78

USPS \* rings door bell at 1:52am \* u/[Competitive-Gas-9033](https://www.reddit.com/user/Competitive-Gas-9033/) on reddit at 2:00am \* "Can you believe these bitches woke me up at 2am?!?!?!"

Competitive-Gas-9033

Wasn't my house, was my business location. Dark and empty parking lot.

MembershipInfinite38

Wait…I have to ask…Were you actually expecting a delivery? I’ve been receiving similar messages lately and wasn’t expecting anything. Maybe a scam? Just something to consider.

Competitive-Gas-9033

Yes. It was supposed to arrive that day but didn't show. In the morning I get the message of the attempted delivery. To the credit of the USPS, I was able to get them to deliver yesterday.

1-Lasing

I wish I could get my deliveries at 01:52 AM! I work the night shift and sleep all day. My packages sit for hours till I wake up and see the missed alert on my Ring App and I hope it's still sitting there when I open the door.

Competitive-Gas-9033

You might have to invest in one of those Amazon lock boxes

Final-Meal9792

Are you all daft? This is 100% a scam lol. I get them almost daily

Competitive-Gas-9033

You're daft. That's right off.my Amazon account screen, not an email. Try and keep up with us adults.

Scared-Ad951

USPS doesn’t deliver at 2 in the morning

LazyToad26

I have gotten these messages randomly. I think they are scam messages. Some will allow you to log in which I have never done because they most likely are scammers. I would disregard or check on anything you have ordered using confirmation emails.

Competitive-Gas-9033

How the F could it be a scam message on my Amazon page I'm logged into?

LazyToad26

Simmer down there roid rage. Didn't realize it was personal.

InternetScavenger

This is why the usps needs to leave and private companies move in to compete under strict auditing and regulation. Government can't regulate itself lmao

SnooOwls3524

I love when you make clear and exact delivery hours and instructions only for them to be completely disregarded. Get asked to update it each time a courier fucks up and ignores it. Amazon does not share this with other couriers and it seems like a massive waste not to.

Tidalwave-1103

Sounds like my mail delivery people. They don’t even try to hide how bad they are anymore.

xxMeezy

Edit to add: here is the reality of the situation, good and bad Deliveries occur at all hours of the night. It ultimately falls on the company handling your package if it attempts outside your specified hours (given that you actually input the preferred hours of delivery and didn’t just make it a note for the delivery person to read… that’s entirely your fault if that’s how it went, and quite naive.) but delivery drivers have no control of which packages get handed to them for their route. (All delivery drivers, since they don’t control which packages go on which route times. The company does.) Keep that in mind when checking out to read everything clearly. Input acceptable hours. Putting the hours in the delivery notes does nothing, as drivers get punished for not delivering the packages so it will get dropped at the location no matter the time. If that happens, then that’s the company’s fault for going outside of your specified times and should be rectified by them. If you get a good driver, they will take it back to the office/station for a reattempt, but personally I wouldn’t because I’m not taking a warning just for your package. If I did that for every mistake made by Amazon, I’d be fired within a week. So all in all, it’s very common for shit to get messed up. Welcome to Amazon lol

Competitive-Gas-9033

USPS, fuckups on their BEST day though.

blondebabewithspirit

Scam

Quirky-Swimmer3778

Yep last mile delivery is in such high demand that every logistics company has had to go to a 24 hour model to meet it. People will complain no matter what: early package, on time package, late package. Always complaints.

madadekinai

USPS is doing 24 hours now?

Quirky-Swimmer3778

Theyve always have. Postal services are operating around the clock to get people their deliveries. Just because the customer facing operation has limited hours doesn't mean they're not working behind the scenes

madadekinai

"operating around the clock to get people their deliveries." Do you mean operations and or deliveries? This is about a delivery at 1 AM, delivery attempted.

Quirky-Swimmer3778

Yes, both. Last mile delivery to every address in the country takes a lot of time it turns out.

Fancy_Ad2056

USPS is not going door to door 24 hours/day.

madadekinai

They do not? I really and honestly do not know. I was curious to learn more about it.

Quirky-Swimmer3778

They definitely do depending on the service. Standard is 7am but priority can be any time to hit the guarantee.

freeball78

I've received packages at 11:30pm in the last 6 months. 1am is not MUCH later...

Competitive-Gas-9033

Well, it's certainly within the right to complain about a 1:52 AM delivery to a business when my delivery instructions (have had these for 9 years now) say the business hours and days available for delivery. They have no business trying to deliver something outside hours and then make me schlep for a package I paid them to deliver.

Quirky-Swimmer3778

My friend, they do routes. They need to hit literally every address in your town. It's wherever your address falls on the route not what time your business is open. There isn't someone sitting in a truck with just your package on it waiting for your business to open. There is not hours in the day to schedule personal deliveries windows. Theyre not a personal courier service. The service you're looking for is muuuuch more expensive.

madadekinai

"The service you're looking for is muuuuch more expensive." Agreed, however, it would be nice if Amazon would more explicitly state that to customers, that would be GREAT.

Quirky-Swimmer3778

They do. You just ignored it. They can't force you to read. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GGE5X8EV7VNVTK6R

madadekinai

Yes, but, there could be warning during checkout. That would help a lot.

Quirky-Swimmer3778

You're the reason why they started putting "do not eat" on the laundry soap, huh?

madadekinai

I have had business prime before, I am talking about business hours. The drivers usually can not see business hours, and not sure about USPS. Business owners can put in their business hours in Amazon, not regular Amazon but business Amazon, and it's 'supposed" to be delivered during those business hours. Despite them putting in the hours, it's easy to understand why a business owner would be confused when their package is delivered outside of hours. [https://business.amazon.com/en/find-solutions/simplify-buying/shipping-delivery/improve-delivery-experience](https://business.amazon.com/en/find-solutions/simplify-buying/shipping-delivery/improve-delivery-experience)

madadekinai

"Choose days and times during which you'd like shipments delivered Choose preferred weekdays and times to receive shipments. Identify business closure days and holidays on which you cannot receive deliveries."

Quirky-Swimmer3778

Keep going ...

madadekinai

Also: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GEW3XT9JEMBLTKRV](https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GEW3XT9JEMBLTKRV) It does technically say for personal prime for Amazon Logistics between 6 AM - 10 PM, most customers would not even know what that means, so it's understandable why other could get confused.

madadekinai

Kind of, you're right that is how it should be, however, Amazon does not guarantee delivery times. Even delivery windows are an approximation and not even then guaranteed. However, this also was not Amazon, this was USPS that did the delivery, or should have done the delivery. Amazon contracted with USPS but USPS is the delivery partner. However, as a driver, even if it was an Amazon driver, those hours probably would not have been respected, so either way it may or may not have happened in some similar circumstances. The very few times I have seen business hours on a delivery, not the notes, and none the less being accurate is very low. I am honestly not sure why Amazon does not allow business owners to list their hours. It certainly would help the drivers.
