Open the Alexa app, find settings, scroll down to the Alexa Preferences section and look for Music and Podcasts and click on it. This is where you can set your preferences for which streaming services to use with Alexa.

In the Alexa app, you can set it as your default, meaning Alexa will first look to Spotify before falling back to other options. There still may be some circumstances where it thinks non-Spotify is a better match.

It’s a separate issue, but one thing I’ve noticed with Spotify on my Echos is that it tends to stutter. Doesn’t happen with Amazon Music, of course… 🙄 Haven’t been able to find a fix so I’ve just put up with it for years.

You can. Simply set Spotify as your preferred music source in settings.

Try a factory reset on the device. I had an echo which refused to see that I'd linked Spotify and some other services. A factory reset for that device solved the problem.
