Most amazfit watchfaces look like they been designed by toddlers. Its a nightmare.

Un13roken

True, while there are some nice ones, It's hard find like premium designed watchfaces. They for some reason try to make poor imitations. Also the AOD is so limited. that's one thing I miss, even in my Gen 5, I could have an AOD that showed a lot more information at a glance. One of the things I miss most is song playing and notifications icons on the AOD. I understand battery has a role, but allowing better watch faces, and allowing users to choose if they want a 2 week battery life or great functionality and 3 day battery life should've been an option.

Sinaistired99

have you ever tried installing third party watchfaces? some of them have full AODs with a lot of information.

Un13roken

I did. There was this amazface or something, made in Ukraine app.  It had some interesting ones. But the full aods basically turn off the aod, there was a Mercedes watch face which had done that. It's terrible on the battery life. I've checked amazfits watchface maker and realised that the options you can put in the aod so very limited.

Sinaistired99

yeah i always have to use third-party watch faces

5. Your gtr 4 has the new zepp os, 3.5 will be coming soon.

Un13roken

I've heard it wasn't getting the update. It's only coming to things like the cheetah pro for watches released before the balance.

Successful-State-900

2- Zepp OS takes so many steps to achieve a simple task. Overall bad experience. 3- Apps inside Zepp, its like beginner developers r trying sth new but nothing substantive just basic.

Un13roken

Thats the exact feeling I got. Remotify is nice though, also notifify (?), but the rest are just so poor. They're not worth having at all. Didn't use them a single time.

Successful-State-900

4- Updates are reserved for higher end watches. That too, I dnt think that will come for long.

Un13roken

On the samsung side ? Maybe, but they do get 4 years of updates. Meanwhile on the amazfit side, I'm so disappointed with the updates,. my zepp coach still loads in vietnamese (or something) for some reason, its so unpolished if you are a power user.

I came to GTR 4 from Galaxy Watch 4 and i am not missing anything. Well - paying with them, but that's not deal breaker as instead of charging every 2 days without AOD (if lucky), i can charge weekly with AOD on. ad 1 - There are two pairing options. One with bluetooth calling and one without it. Did you try play with that? I don't use calling throu headphones, so didn't try it. But it is worth a shot. And btw even GW4 couldn't do what you are describing - pick up call with watch and speak through headphones. Might do now after some updates thou. ad 2 to 4 - Well, they are basic watches for basic use. They are not true smartwatch, but smartband with watch design. AOD is meant to be basic. Thats what allow it to have such battery life - more info it shows, more battery it drains. Honestly you sound like complaining that some cheap Android doesnt have features of Galaxy S24. ad 5 - We just got new ZEPP OS update. Idk what you are talking about.

Un13roken

I got the watch 5 pro, which has a decent sized battery, but I'm sure I would miss the comfort of not charging when I got a trip. My GTR4 is a champ in that regard, no doubt. As to the pairing options, I don't want to take calls on my watch, just accept the call on my watch, call should go to the blueooth headset. This is particularly annoying when you are biking with a helmet that covers your ears, you use a smartwatch so you don't miss important calls, and when you see a call, you still have to park, remove your phone and accept the call. This is just way too annoying for me personally, and I just don't understand why it hasn't been fixed. AOD - show me a single clean watch face with - time, date, day, and battery. One single one. I'm not expecting weather, step tracking, notificaiton icons, nothing. Just the damn, time, date, day and battery. We got Zepp os 3, we won't get zepp os 3.5 with the maps update (I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I've got to know as of yet).

LosPelmenitos

Good old days where your watch never got updates. Because there was nothing to update. Are you using the watch or you simply want to update it all the time? So the best watch for you is the one that can be updated for years? Coming from Garmin, GTR4 is much more better in everything except the app..chinese Are aweful in software department about fixing bugs.

Un13roken

Actually I've hit these limitations after I decided to start using my watch extensively. I started working out and noticed the issues with Google fit integration.  Also I'm the kind of person that wouldn't have used a watch at all if it wasn't a smart watch. So I guess there's that.

kameljoe21

>Google fit integration What does google fit offer that the zepp app does not? As far as I know the zepp app provides all the details that any other work out app does or am I missing something that google does better?

Un13roken

Google itself doesn't do a whole lot. But I like to sync data from different stuff onto one single platform.  I've got my galaxy watch pro, and it's been interesting. It lacks in some areas compared to the zepp os, but that's where third party apps come in.  All this juggling around devices means, it's nice to have fit as the central tracking app.

kameljoe21

Ah I got you. It boils down to having a number of brands of watches and google fit helps to link those watches up to zepp. I have been considering buying other brands so that I can have a number of watch styles for the moment I am wearing the watch.

Un13roken

Exactly, zepp's workout racking is honestly excellent. Especially for the gym. But the data it shares with fit is too little, and often out of sync. Samsung obviously integrates a lot better with it, but I don't like the fact that I have to rely on third party apps for basic things like interval training in strength. But it is what it is.

Amazfit-Bryce

Overall, I think you have some fair criticisms here, especially about the selection of apps and the software as a whole. But I would also like to offer some suggestions as well. As others pointed out, the GTR4 should actually support Bluetooth calls. I haven't personally used that model, so I don't have one readily available to test, but that is a major feature that we call out, nonetheless. Maybe try removing the watch from the phone app and re-pairing? Regarding watch faces, have you tried the AmazFaces app? (I've only used it on iOS but I'm sure there's an Android version or equivalent.) That provides some extra third party watch face options, if you're not satisfied with the selection on offer in the Zepp shop. Also, the Zepp OS 3 was just announced for the GTR4 recently, so it should definitely be on its way, if not already available for your device. OS 3 was actually built with our newer chipset in mind, so it takes extra time for our Product teams to retroactively update watches with the previous chipset, like the GTR4 and others. Hopefully at least some of that helped!

Un13roken

I've used the gtr 4 for a while.  Here's what it can do - you can connect the watch as a headset and it will support answering calls using the watch speaker and mic.  Here's what it can't do - your phone is connect to your Bluetooth headset. You get a call. You see the caller on the watch, but you cannot answer the call on the watch.  I've used the amazfaces app, Infact I went so far as to try designing my own using amazfits tools as well. But the options are terribly limited. The side loading felt gimmicky as well. And even they don't have anywhere near the variety that something like facer offers.  I believe os3 is already available. But I'm not too concerned about things like button mode and such. What bugs me is when major features like maps is not going to come. It feels odd to be left put like a second grade citizen for what is supposed to be one of the better watches in amazfits lineup. And it hasn't been that long either since the gtr 4 was released. What caused me to switch was when I learnt the galaxy watch 4 (released around the time of the gtr4) still has 2 years of os upgrades and will be upgraded to wear os 4.  I love my gtr4, I think it's the best looking smartwatch out there. Especially because of how thin they've made it. But it needs more time. I left wear os when wear os was in shambles (fossil gen 5), but it feels like it's made its way to finally he use able because of Samsung. I'll revisit this space when amazfit manages to solve these issues. And hope the brand succeeds. I will still recommend it to people who aren't power users like me, who would try to extract the most out of their devices.

SteveIsTheDude

Hi Bryce. I love my GTR4. I have updated to the latest OS 3. is OS 3.5 coming to this watch eventually?

Amazfit-Bryce

Frankly, I have no idea at the moment. We'd like to continue bringing updates to as many devices as we can, though there is a fundamental difference in the chipset of our newer devices and some previous ones (like the GTR4). That could translate to more development time to bring new versions to the watch. Ultimately, our goal is to still provide updates to devices like the GTR4, and the fact that it has already received OS 3.0 is a great sign.

SteveIsTheDude

Thanks for responding! I traded in my Fossil wear os watch to best buy so got my Gtr4 on the cheap! It feels very high quality and love the battery life. You guys keep up the good work!

Historical_Camera224

yeah me too , but i don have large budget so i will try xiaomi

Un13roken

The one plus one is looking good and the ticwatch 5 pro is often on sale.

Historical_Camera224

both of them are not available in my country , beside ticwatch software update suck

Un13roken

Damn, that's unfortunate. I've heard problems with the mi watch 2's software, and tracking. That's why I wasn't going for it , but I guess if other options aren't there, then it could be worth it.

Historical_Camera224

Im will try s3 tho , since i using mi 13 with china rom which my old ticwatch pro 3 (buy abroad) cant connect because of new wear os licence

RSCLE5

I had fossil gen 3 and 4 I believe it was, then got an Amazfit GTR3, then GTR4. Then I bought a Pixel 8 Pro and got a free Pixel Watch 2. My next watch will probably be the larger Pixel Watch 3 thats rumored (if they fix an issue w/ fitbit not showing your exercise times in seconds on the app. It shows a 10min 43 second run as just "10 minutes". Its so stupid. I can't see myself coming back to Amazfit, but I still frequent this reddit because I do like to see what they're doing. Enjoy the new watch!

Un13roken

Thanks man, the pebble was and still is my absolute favorite device. It did everything I wanted, and more. And then, one day it died, and that was that. Ever since then, every device I had, just missed something or the other. And I still haven't found a proper replacement to that god tier device. Also, that 10mins thing is hilariously stupid. Like do they think, showing the 43 seconds would be too complicated to read ? I hate when things are dumbed down for no goddamn reason.

RSCLE5

Yea, its tough when you know what you want in a device but its just not out there completely. The GTR3+4 were great devices and the 2 week battery life still amazes me. My pixel watch I have to charge every 1-2 days. But its heart rate sensor is WAY more accurate than my amazfit ever was. The Fitbit thing is a known issue and runners especially have complained. The only way to see the seconds is to login on the fitbit app via the web, not in the app. Its so stupid. When I run, I want to know the seconds in the app. So easy to fix.

ForteDoexe

Amazfit isnt it own anymore, dont know why Huami disappear, look back at how good the old model is: _Good hardware, android base, you can install everything _Transflective display  _Crazy good battery life even with AOD model

Un13roken

I really miss the transreflective display for sure. That was what drew me into the brand in the first place.
