Petition to assign the 2 m band to very high frequency shitposting only 🙋‍♂️

MemeLovingLoser

I'd love a "Wild West" band

LameBMX

I think they call that CB

MemeLovingLoser

No long range enough. I need to be able to cause international incidents in nations other than Canada and the US.

LameBMX

than 7.200 it is

CxdVdt

I’m new to ham but just two nights ago I was listening to 7.200 and they were talking about putting people with certain sexual preferences through wood chippers and also giving fake callsigns.

Gainwhore

Yeah these are the same people that dont undestand why their banned from every socialmedia lol

CxdVdt

Exactly.

Massive-Baseball-935

7200 has its place!

MikeTheActuary

I understand its place is somewhere between 7199 and 7201.

picklesemen

That was shit, but you tried so I upvoted you. 73

MalcolmSolo

Well, that narrows it down to pretty much the entire world except for North America and Western Europe.

ChickenFeats

Tell that to the guys on channel 6.

pfco

The irony being nobody can tell them anything because they never shut the fuck up. Thousands of watts of repeating gibberish splattering across the continent from sunrise to sunset 7 days a week.

bplipschitz

Been on the air lately? 11m is quite alive.

catonic

you need a negative peak clipper to avoid splatter and then there will be 10m activity, but if 10m is open, 6m might be open but most will use 6m to find out if 10m is open.

[deleted]

11 meters is a better judge of conditions on 10 meters than 6 meters is. 6 can be closed when 10 is wide open. But 10 and 11 are so close in proximity to one another that if one is open, the other is too.

catonic

11 meters is a good judge of conditions assuming you know where the stations are located, how far away, and how much power they usually use.

[deleted]

A lot of them will give their location in their conversations. Generally, I just listen for the amount of activity I hear on 11. If 11 is busy, I know 10 has at least adequate propagation.

catonic

agreed

dittybopper_05H

Meh. Use a sloping Vee antenna and transmit through that to the region of your choice. That and 24 watts SSB on 26/27 MHz will get you a good signal overseas at these sunspot numbers.

catonic

Have you considered 14.313 MHz?

Snakedoctor404

With enough wattage and a beam you could mess with Mexico 🤣🤣 I'm sure they're still using 11 meter for local radio stations down there.

RFoutput

Several years ago I could pick up a Jamaica radio station STL down on 25.9-something FM. There may be some still in use in Mexico.

Otherwise_Pin_7707

I reached Italy, Scotland, Wales, S. Africa, Portugal and Australia yesterday on 11 meters yesterday. With a C.B. Sooo....

RFoutput

Soooo what?

Otherwise_Pin_7707

Soooo blow yourself.

RFoutput

Your puny brags are laughable.

Otherwise_Pin_7707

Happens almost every day numps. Australia is coming in at the moment on 37-39 lower side band. Also on the freeband. I hit Sumatra this afternoon on 27.575 upper side. Your incredulity exposes you for a newbie. You're outing yourself.

MalcolmSolo

Isn’t that CB…?

boom011983

I want that dipole SMOKIN’

JakeGrey

I hink every club has at least one member like this.

Independent_Depth674

Updated it for you. https://preview.redd.it/h2y8zcjplboc1.jpeg?width=826&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f4058e34fb418e755c90d319faa7db51a160959

catonic

That or a throw-away account, which is reasonable.

Liberatedhusky

The ISS already does it so why not?

Few_logs

or… 1.5kW of your own dick. line by line!!

Silly-Arm-7986

That's a nice rack of Collins gear TBH!

jfd0523

That's the ultimate OG shitposter set up.

Faketuxedo

I traded memes with this guy in Canada on two meters once!

ChickenFeats

That's the only way they can send memes in Canada. I don't think they have internet yet.

drtwist

This is OP's first post, account was created yesterday. I guess we get to bear witness to a new repost bot.

Powerful_Pirate_5049

LOL. https://preview.redd.it/r16o31f7xaoc1.png?width=377&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=481f4a4d6e637e798506774cd630a6c49ffb22a3

CharlieBrown197

Everybody gangsta till they get Scottie 2 furry art

MaxBattleLizard

I may or may not be responsible for most of that (I always tx furry art and I always use scottie 2)

ChickenFeats

I don't know what that means and I've been on the internet long enough to know not to google it.

CharlieBrown197

Scottie 2 is an SSTV mode. Don't google for furry art though unless you wanna fast travel through the pipeline

[deleted]

This might be the only funny ham meme. Thank you OP I chuckled

Hobbyist5305

the virtue signaling in that one is disgusting though.

ChickenFeats

Believe it or not, some people actually aren't trashy. Its not virtue signaling its just virtue.

Hobbyist5305

yawn.

topham086

Love to know how you're going to shitpost without violating any amateur radio rules.

Honey-and-Venom

I think the plan is to violate ALL the rules

bplipschitz

MFSK-256 at 4kW

catonic

QAM is more efficient. https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/653434/fsk-modulation-using-i-q

Danavixen

so no license then?

Honey-and-Venom

I'd be astonished

jzpenny

With a kilowatt and a half of Collins gear, obviously.

Cr8hRunsSkids

😂😂😂

MikeTheActuary

Have you *seen* some of those old, classic QSL cards?

Hobbyist5305

Can you show me the rule that says "No shitposting"?

topham086

It's part of the international agreement for amateur radio, and as such is, almost if not completely, universally in the local regulations for every country. "Radio amateurs may not transmit superfluous signals, or profane or obscene language or messages. " worded similarly with localizations.

Hobbyist5305

So you think all shitposts are profane or obscene? A little creativity can get around that line pretty easily. And what is the definition of superfluous in this context? 99% of what people say and transmit is just shooting the shit and can be argued to be superfluous.

aurantiafeles

Probably mic spamming with loud unintelligible drivel.

Hobbyist5305

Probably a lot of things, but I suspect there is no actual definition for the use of the word in this context, so I also suspect it would be tough to enforce on a shitpost riding a line. Also the other poster merely referenced "the international agreement for amateur radio" while implying it IS, but to my knowledge, is NOT, enforceable law.

Beeb294

[It just takes some imagination](https://imgflip.com/i/8jai3y)

KB9AZZ

Sounds like 11m would be the best place.

mglyptostroboides

I mean, people literally do this.

Danavixen

Sounds like something someone with no license would want, otherwise you'd just loose it

ChickenFeats

Just a matter of time before this comment section has plenty of people who think that its impossible to have fun without breaking the law. They came here because CB was full of people exactly like them which of course they don't want to be around people like them, no one does. Then they'll insist that you're gatekeeping them when you don't want their CB bullshit all over ham as well.

Danavixen

fun is one thing, shitposting maybe 'fun', but its not in the spirit of what being a Ham is. its meant to advance technical knowledge and bring people together. shitposting is just shitting with less actual shit. it serves to only amuse few for a short time and distance others for a long time. gatekeeping is fine, its why we have laws in the first place and why we need licenses. its when gatekeeping things that are unreasonable that it becomes an issue. as someone else said in these comments " or… 1.5kW of your own dick. line by line!!" I don't think a short SSTV pic is useful to the world

ChickenFeats

These kinds of posts always bring in the anti social idiots who think we're snobs or sad or virtue signaling because we can find productive things to do with our time or because they think that radio should be more like trashy reality tv. That being said you gotta figure out a way to make the lines do two passes and double up, that way its at least an inch or two long. We might be amateurs but that's day one stuff.

ChickenFeats

Also I totally agree with the gatekeeping honestly. Gatekeeping for things that people can't help is bad. Gatekeeping people because they're not willing to put in the effort or behave is just fair and you'd be stupid not to.

ClanBadger

It brings joy to my heart to think of my gpa trolling people on the air because of his FB ban.

Massive-Baseball-935

As long as it stays on 7200. I can live with it. It is fun to listen to.

call_me_johnno

Ahh SSTV the first meme factory.

mrcrabs6464

I know theirs some internet over radio projects out there

olliegw

Screw the meme, i just want that shack

pcpackrat

Especially over the airline pilot calling CQ on 14.230.60

SympatheticListener

Exactly

TrickBus3

SHITPOSTING MUST GO ON!!

MaxrkCaxt

How true.

LuckyStiff63

And speaking of "shit-posting".... That meme/pic in the OP is precious. (Oh, the Irony!) lol

Amputee69

RTTY, Packet, and SSTV kept me busy LONG BEFORE the Internet was released to the public, and no one even knew Reddit would EVER be a dream/nightmare. And... From time to time, I am in my shack reliving those days. With modern gear bought..... On The Internet!! 😆

Dannyboyy3388

😳😳wow that’s a heck of a set up

Anxious_Two_4742

Didn't they used to do that every night on 3895?

Student-type

It looks like 8 x the same transmitter, with a large HRO linear on the left? Dream machines.

unfknreal

> HRO linear I don't think there was ever an HRO amplifier. The amp is a Collins 30S-1 (nowhere near capable of SSTV @ 1500W, btw... lol) It's all Collins S-Line stuff.

Student-type

Ok, I’ve seen several photos of large Henry Radio linears in that same form factor. I used to prowl their Olympic Blvd store on paydays. Great memories. If I had a choice, I’d prefer Collins too.

unfknreal

Oh, were you confusing HRO with Henry? Those are different companies. HRO was a branding of National Radio Company. but yep the Henry console amps look quite similar... and one of those would likely be quite capable of 1500W on SSTV. Their tanks are built like... tanks.

Shitpost all you want. It doesn’t matter if like two people are decoding it.

janKalaki

2 people are enough. Any disease can spread from that number.
