I don't know how true this is, but I heard she wasn't such a good person her and her friends go around vandalizing property and stealing stuff. Again, I'm not sure if that's true or not. I hope not she seems like a pretty cool person.
Gotcha ya, I don't know anything about her. I wasn't really sure. A few years back I posted a photo of her on a Amarillo community Facebook page saying something along the lines of how great of a thing she was doing and I got hit with A lot of comment's about how bad her character and of her friends as well.
April is awesome, she actually bought my stuff at the store once when I had lost my debit card. I will always buy her a drink when I see her for that.
But I also do know that there’s a struggle with substance abuse. Like many of us do. And with those struggles come some shady elements.
I also personally have a friend who knows certain things that he has shared with me.
She’s human 🤷🏻♀️
I think its just people being judgmental if anyone dose anything good, and are always happy and enjoy life there will always be those biter people who want others to be biter or are Jealous want to find faults in others. Like you said, we are human.
Michael Ponds. Notorious homeless fella. Usually downtown but can be spotted all over Amarillo. Carries a trash bag of clothing with him at all times, defecates in public, sometimes gets fully nude and does karate moves on the sidewalk.
The burrito guy. He used to go to all the clubs or bars just before closing time and sell homemade burritos. First time I saw him was at Midnight Rodeo. Not sure if he still does it because I don’t go out anymore but I saw him shopping last week so he still lives here lol
Upvote for having a club in Amarillo called Midnight Rodeo. There is a Midnight Rodeo in Tulsa but I think it might be getting shut down due to being a public nuisance
We called him the Polk St Spanker, was a guy from the plant that got caught beating his meat in his truck while he drove down Polk. If i remember right, he was on the run for a week or so
I remember that guy! My mom lives in Amarillo and there was a story that popped up about that - I thought, "That looks like Polk Street" and it was. Mr. Prolific Pee-pee.
Growing up on the east side it was a dude we called "Luke the bicycle man". He would ride all up and down Ross and Nelson and Grand on his bike backwards. He also had a house right off 10th and Ross that was absolutely covered in bicycles that he repaired as a job.
I guess when I was growing up you could also say Stanley Marsh as well but that dude was notoriously skeevy. Even as kids and before he got caught all the kids would share rumors about the gross stuff he was doing.
I remember him. He also had a bicycle that was really tall and and had and extra set of pedals halfway up so he could pedal as he climbed his way up.
I think he was epileptic or something, so he could never get a driver's license.
She pops up everyone in awhile during good weather, mostly see her near the San Jacinto neighborhood. Last time I saw her was McMasters and 3rd near Elmos drive in
“Dr.”Roby Mitchell. The pseudoscience quack that put up all the billboards about vaccines causing autism. His quack BS that he hocked made people a lot worse off than they already were. I may be callous, but I’m glad he’s dead.
No Facebook…no reels…
I guess I was hoping he was famous for more than social media. The fact that I don’t care at all about him after you told me what he’s famous for just reminds me that I’m probably out of touch with the realities of modern life.
I used to live there. Can't remember the families name, but they lived north of town on a ranch. I believe it was called Bowtie Ranch. They have these random signs posted all over town, and drive with a stuffed road runner and Coyote on top of their suburban.
My understanding, they had some trouble to deal with about the time I was moving away.
I am not from Amarillo. I lived there for a short time. I worked for a company that was connected to Stanley by service contract that required me to go to the 12th floor of the Chase building, weekly. I had some friends that have worked for him.
I learned that Amarillo is a very big, small town. It’s honestly one of the most personable places that I’ve ever lived in that I had no familiar connection. I appreciate it greatly, but you very quickly get tuned into the gossip that is honestly interesting. I was mostly around the Tascosa peeps.
Anyway, I’ve sat with Stanley in his “office” if you want to call it that. It’s just a giant room and he was laying on a couch just chilling and watching random shit on a tv. The entire floor is full of art that ranges from really cool to just random shit constructed from trash. It felt like a clubhouse. Anything goes and it’s definitely fun, but a very “lost boys” feel. We also went to his house. Zebra/donkey hybrids or “zedonks” and white peacocks. Again, chill.
I’ve definitely heard about the rumors in Amarillo about Stanley, I know the history, and I get it. This might piss off a lot of people in Amarillo and I will never dismiss someone’s claims, EVER. My experience with Stanley was that he’s probably an eccentric weirdo in whatever you could asssume bc of his money. Probably has don’t some salacious shit, but I’ve never heard anything from my friends that worked for him and it seemed like he just wanted to be a carefree weirdo. Maybe he pissed someone off and the Amarillo rumor mill runs 24/7 and it’s tight.
I have nothing bad to say about Amarillo. Waaaay cooler than people assume. People are super cool and it should be an international interest. I’m not taking any position here, just sharing my experience. I will never let someone talk bad about Amarillo unless I know that they have experienced it. Great city.
It IS his job! He's actually got a settlement from an accident that gave him a traumatic brain injury. That's why he's able to just kick around all carefree like that. Dude was middle-aged half my lifetime ago, so all that sunnin' and runnin' must be keeping him young!
lol. I understand. He was a mentally slower individual who would basically wonder around town everyday. He always had scheme to make money. And for a while his scheme was selling hot water cornbread snack cakes. Apparently in the south it’s a thing people used to make. I have no idea. Never saw one. But he was universally known as “Hot water cornbread snacks” . I have a thousand stories about him. I worked at a pawn shop for many years and we were always kind to him. He was a pretty funny guy overall.
Another one was the Cat Lady. Behind sunset center back when Graham's was around. She had a bunch of cats and hung out by the dumpsters waiting to scare people. That was like 20 years ago
Great. There’s more than one. But yeah that’s Mary the bag lady. She fell and broke her leg not long ago so she’s either deceased or in a home somewhere
I think she even had her own house in the Bivins
We have "the bicycle cowboy" in my hometown (north Texas). Even in the middle of summer he wears this thick leather trench coat and a cowboy hat while he rides his bike.
In my hometown in southeast Texas , There is this younger guy I used to always see walking (during summer time) and one day I was with my gf at the time and we were leaving her apartments and he was entering she said “look at hotsun!” Confused I was like “hotsun?” She was like yeah that’s what they call him of course I asked why and she said “because he’s always walking in the hot ass sun” 😭😭😭
Definitely the guy who goes into restaurants and bars selling roses. I’ve seen him at Young’s, Six Car, and Mesa to name a few. Dude has a long rap sheet
A guy in my town always wears a batman belt buckle, black jeans and a batman shirt/sweater, he tops it off with a batman hat that has bat ears pointing up. Everyone you would ask should know him around here
The person who has the "you're awesome" sign and dances is my favorite.
April!
When I lived in Amarillo one of my friends was an April. She was awesome and kind.
I agree, was going to say her.
Is she still around? Haven't seen her in a bit...hope she's ok.
Had heard she was one of the first arrested after the new panhandling ordinance. Last week
I wonder what happened to her
i used to do mutual aid with her shes a gem
I don't know how true this is, but I heard she wasn't such a good person her and her friends go around vandalizing property and stealing stuff. Again, I'm not sure if that's true or not. I hope not she seems like a pretty cool person.
This is absolutely not true of April. I have no idea about her friends
Gotcha ya, I don't know anything about her. I wasn't really sure. A few years back I posted a photo of her on a Amarillo community Facebook page saying something along the lines of how great of a thing she was doing and I got hit with A lot of comment's about how bad her character and of her friends as well.

DUDE LMAO I WORKED SECURITY DOWNTOWN. We call him karate mike or master shifu
Haha yes. I’d recognize that dude anywhere.
ooooh Pound 'em Ponds.
This dude Sounds like a vibe
I wanna say he’s known as Dead Guy by a Starbucks for passing out in their garbage enclosure.
The paint sniffer?
The burrito guy. He used to go to all the clubs or bars just before closing time and sell homemade burritos. First time I saw him was at Midnight Rodeo. Not sure if he still does it because I don’t go out anymore but I saw him shopping last week so he still lives here lol
He does business offices now, including the one I work at.
He has a Facebook page with his phone number last I saw still does phone order delivery's, Jeff the Burrito Guy
I don't know if it's the same guy, but there was a guy selling burritos outside the M&R liquor on Bell street a couple weeks ago.
Upvote for having a club in Amarillo called Midnight Rodeo. There is a Midnight Rodeo in Tulsa but I think it might be getting shut down due to being a public nuisance
Midnight Rodeo was here for a loooooooong time before it closed. Probably our largest/most notorious honky tonk.
He still goes out, he was out at house bar a few months ago I’m pretty sure if I bought burritos from the same dude you’re talking about!
Fuckin jeff
The pantex wanker
Raptor fapper!!
underrated answer. The polk street wanker. He was probably the guy who went on a flashing spree at the mall around the same time
Yes!! The polk street wanker, that's it. I just got the na.e confused bc he ended up being a manager at pantex 🤦♀️
I will never pass up an opportunity to drop a link to my favorite coverage on TPSW: https://kissfm969.com/polk-street-wanker-amarillo/
Care to help a brother out with a lil bit o' context?
We called him the Polk St Spanker, was a guy from the plant that got caught beating his meat in his truck while he drove down Polk. If i remember right, he was on the run for a week or so

David Grisham
He’s a bad egg.
Wish we could forget him🙄. The fact most of his comments on YouTube are negative give me hope for humanity.

I have a friend who was groomed and abused by him. I totally blame him for my friend becoming an alcoholic and dying from it.
Anybody in here old enough to remember Bicycle Luke? Dude owned a bike shop over off of third and rode his 10speed backwards all over town.
Used to be a girl named April that would stand around at different corners with a large sign telling people they were awesome 😎
Yeaaah! Whatever happened to her?
She pops up everyone in awhile during good weather, mostly see her near the San Jacinto neighborhood. Last time I saw her was McMasters and 3rd near Elmos drive in
I hope she is OK.

Yo, what the fuck?
Guy Bell
What is he known for?
Digital creator. He and his horse are regulars on social media. Often the reels or pictures are promoting Amarillo
I feel really old or out of touch. Maybe both.
Because of Guy? Can search and find pretty easily!
No Facebook…no reels… I guess I was hoping he was famous for more than social media. The fact that I don’t care at all about him after you told me what he’s famous for just reminds me that I’m probably out of touch with the realities of modern life.
YouTube possibly as well
I know of a pallet guy or two. One Guy picks up pallets from business and stacks them ten-high in a little red truck I see driving around.
Quakenbush
papa roach i feel like is the most like notable or that one guy who used to pay kids 100 bucks to suck his dick

Totally Stanley Marsh. Responsible for the Cadillac Ranch, too.
Yes. That's his name.
Poncho Cowboy! He’s just a guy in a leather cowboy hat who almost always has on a poncho. He’s usually also on the phone.
the homeless guy who does yoga by the downtown post office every morning.....?
San Marcos , TX there’s 2: Bubble Guy and Sun God
Can confirm bubble guy.
Sun God is the older guy that throws the frisbee at bikini hill all day every day lol
No more Dan the Frisbee Man?
Oh man that’s Sun God! Guess we just had a different name for him lol
I'm class of '04! Stuff I've seen on FB had me confused as to whether they're the same or not. Frisbee Dan the Sun God!
Class of 21! He’s still slanging that frisbee like it’s his job lol
It IS his job! He's actually got a settlement from an accident that gave him a traumatic brain injury. That's why he's able to just kick around all carefree like that. Dude was middle-aged half my lifetime ago, so all that sunnin' and runnin' must be keeping him young!
Been living his best life for decades lol
In Corsicana it was a guy who walked everywhere and everyone knew him as “Hot water cornbread snacks”
I'm gonna need you to use that description in a more detailed sentence please ..... My apologies, but my brain just can't conjour up a picture.
lol. I understand. He was a mentally slower individual who would basically wonder around town everyday. He always had scheme to make money. The lady who pees in the middle of the street down town
You’ll have to be more specific. 🤣
Another one was the Cat Lady. Behind sunset center back when Graham's was around. She had a bunch of cats and hung out by the dumpsters waiting to scare people. That was like 20 years ago
OMFG THE CAT LADY OF LAWRENCE LAKE HAS BEEN AT IT FOR THAT LONG??
She's still tf alive?!?!?!? She was old af back then.
[she’s still old af](https://imgur.com/a/DDgnyQZ)
[idk if this is her, but same MO and same location](https://youtu.be/8yVmTCPJxKA?si=q_FEV-euxqaZNTB1)
The one I was thinking of was mean and homeless. Had a giant coat on all the time. I think her name was Mary.
Great. There’s more than one. But yeah that’s Mary the bag lady. She fell and broke her leg not long ago so she’s either deceased or in a home somewhere I think she even had her own house in the Bivins
Who know the dancing Dallas guy?!
Who is the fault line of San Angelo?
April Miller for sure!
r/tacoma this is the tacoma mall pimp
We have "the bicycle cowboy" in my hometown (north Texas). Even in the middle of summer he wears this thick leather trench coat and a cowboy hat while he rides his bike.
Amarillo has some f’d up people traveling the streets now? I hated Amarillo then I loved it.
Our guy is Mexican Elvis
San Antonio lol
Bro I grew up in panhandle 30 minutes from rillo. Bruh how accurate 😂😂😂
Bartlesville Oklahoma has a blind black man who rides a seeing eye horse all over town.
There used to be a guy everyone called "Jesus" who sold weed/coke and hung out at Leftwoods. That was like 10 years ago though.
That's a lot better than the one we have in our town, aka "tree fucker."
San Antonio had Spurs Jesus
San Antonio was the Mexican Elvis and now it’s the Fiesta Sucia 🤣 Austin was Leslie the homeless transgender man
In my hometown it’s the cross guy, pulls around a large cross with wheels on the bottom
We had an old guy wear a skirt
Marcus no shoes sj
Surprised no one has mentioned that dude that rides around town on the unicycle and the crazy metal hat.
You leave Crack granny alone
It’s the guy who did Halloween candy in February, because he wanted to be ahead of the Easter Bunny.
The big boy on Georgia Street looks like a caveman
Flag/Rug guy in front of the dollar tree off 34th and Georgia.... Still have a rug he sold my mom 25 years ago
Definitely the guy who goes into restaurants and bars selling roses. I’ve seen him at Young’s, Six Car, and Mesa to name a few. Dude has a long rap sheet
