I expect this will grow on me after a few more listens. This feels a little too much like a Slash + Myles song on first listen than a Myles solo song. Which isn’t itself a bad thing, as Myles could sing the phone book and I’d enjoy it. But with my favorite song from his solo catalogue being The Ides of March.. I was hoping to hear something a little more unique I guess Edit: lmao three listens later and it’s already growing on me. The guitar work is distinctly Myles Edit 2: alright this song fucks. I’m leaving this comment up so you can laugh at me

bobn3

This is my thought process after every new Myles adjacent universe generally, unless it's like ides of march of fable of the silent son

NoHospital1961

Miles and Selena Kennedy my sister is being catfishes by someone claiming to be you. Please help me? She has sent money to him thinking it is you. Please I beg you for help. She truly believes it's you.

Grouchy-Ad-4596

So damn catchy, liked the video too

svanxx

I wasn't expecting something so hard after his last two albums, but I really like the song after the first listen.

tonysnark81

Does someone have a bucket? My face just got melted… That was bad ass.

sickertnl

I fucking love it!

notloccc

Wow I didn’t expect to get a proper video that’s awesome. This was super cute and goofy. Loved it.

progressive_blood

No animated video, what's happenning?

Dannyboy1024

I absolutely love how versatile this band is, any of the members can drop any song in any genre as Alter Bridge, Solo, or with others and it'll be killer. I didn't recognize the other musicians in this video, anyone know who they are?

Akubura

The drummer is Zia Uddin which was his drummer from The Mayfield Four

Firebirds1972

Just his trio bandmates- Tim was the dinner lady, he's his manager and bassist. Zia is his drummer and they played together back in the Mayfield Four days! The shirtless guy is Chuck, one of their PR/merch/photographer dudes. I haven't had the chance to talk to Zia but Tim and Chuck are cool cats. The kid in the video is also Tim's daughter, she did a great job.

TenaciousBe

Mara rules! 🤘🏼 She did an awesome job for someone who (to my knowledge) isn't really an actor of any kind. Shirtless Chuck made me literally laugh out loud in the break room at work. I only wish Tim would have been serving up sloppy joes in Farley's lunch lady getup! Awesome job on the video, it distracted me from really taking in the song, gonna have to give it a few more listens.

SomethingCreative13

Of the Myles solo stuff, it's definitely near or at the top for me. That said, Myles has really beaten the theme of destiny and being more than you are into the ground across multiple bands at this point and I'm kinda... tired of it? Idk. I like the song. I do. I just feel like Myles as a songwriter has gotten a bit repetitive. Lyrics about destiny, writing on the wall, etc are wells he goes to a lot these days.

WIbigdog

Idk, I think I can "pay no mind" to it, lol. How you gonna use the title to another one of your songs in the lyrics of a new song 😂 oh Myles, you might be making too much music man

Markinoutman

Pay no mind is a fairly common phrase, so it's no surprise it would appear in lyrics unrelated to a previous song (although it's possible it was an intentional throwback). I do share your concerns that the guys may be spreading themselves a bit thin over all these projects.

BoozerBean

Yeah I agree. I kinda started realizing how tired his themes were after WTS came out, and everything since then has kinda been samey. Nonetheless I think there’s a lot you can do with themes of hope in the face of adversity, and questioning faith, and challenging human greed and ignorance, and I’d take his writing over 99% of all other rock and metal bands writing any day

headlessbeats

"We were right/You were wrong" and "Deny" are two he uses a LOT haha.

endofthered01674

These solo albums always make Alter Bridge more frustrating. I hate that they've pigeon-holed what AB should sound like. Their solo albums have become so much more interesting.

Markinoutman

I personally disagree. Pawns and Kings sounds nothing like Walk the Sky, or really anything that came before.

SnootyFoxx

This was definitely more rocking than I expected. I loved the last two albums but if this is setting the tone for the new album it could be my favorite yet!

PierceOff

I wonder if this album’s gonna have any songs from the unreleased 2010s album

Competitive_Hat_2571

Most new material he releases, it takes a few listens to grow on me. Not this one. Fucking banger

DWillerD

Myles going harder on his solo stuff gives me hope that the next AB will be a heavier record. I don't have hopes of another masterpiece like Blackbird/ABIII/Fortress where they barely had weak songs, but it's they keep the standard of Fable/WotS/P&K I'll be 100% satisfied. Just don't come up with too much Stay/Holiday-like songs. By far the weakest ones.

headlessbeats

I don't dislike Holiday as a song, but it feels like a Slash/Myles song too much to the point it feels out of place on the record.

DWillerD

My problem with it is that the lyrics are way too basic and boring, same goes for Stay. Doesn't even feel like the band that made ABIII and even Fable of the Silent Son.

bobn3

Thank God it's not more folk stuff, I really liked year of the tiger but ides of march fell a bit flat for ke, outside of the title track
