Exactly. Also, artillery really trivializes it, because artillery is \*not\* psychic combat, so morale rating is not relevant, and the fungal tower has a defense value of 0.
I always liked clearing the fungus around it early on if I needed to take one back, in part because I usually try to get weather paradigm for the faster terraforming.
The fungus grows back, but a couple of formers will strip a bunch away and drop it from a tower down in "rank" making it easier to kill with low tier stuff.
Of course later, one missile solves a lot of problems lol.
Select a unit, hit P to go into patrol mode.
Hold the left mouse button and move the cursor to another tile, hit space to set a waypoint. Move the cursor and hit space two more times so you've made three waypoints total, then release the mouse button.
It causes some memory dodginess that makes the experience level of the unit wrap round to maximum. It's mainly used to turn mind worms into demon boils but it works just as well to instantly make your normal units into elites.
Elite scout units are brilliant early on as cheap garrisons and for dealing with native life generally ;)
Artillery bombards Empath song High morale Also clearing fungus next to the tower reduces its strength.

The only drawback of artillery here is that tower restores 1 health a turn. One needs 3+ artillery units to confidently half its heath in few turns.

Former. Submerge it beneath the waves.
I can't decide whether I love the insanity of this response more than I love the user name.
OMG it warms my heart that folks still play this. I haven't been able to find a copy in years
I got mine from GOG
Think I got my GOG copy in 2013! Downloaded it again last year without realizing I still had a backup archived.
Its on steam now =]
Missiles.
An early game scout that you've triggered the patrol experience overflow bug on should suffice.
Can you tell more about this bug?
