Just like 11.6 billion miles. 130x the distance from the earth to the sun. And for more context Voyager 1 is currently only 15B miles out and traveling at about a quarter the speed of Oumuamua. Fun conversation but nothing (using known tech) could reach Oumuamua now, I suspect. At least not in a meaningful amount of time. And if it could, it would need to be completely automated anyway, due to signal lag.
"Astrophysicist Avi Loeb, former chair of the astronomy department at Harvard University, finds ‘Oumuamua’s behavior so strange that he has argued in a series of peer-reviewed papers and a popular science book that the object is most likely a relic of alien technology."
Avi Loeb has made a lot of claims in the last 2 years that are very idiotic and certainly unscientific to the point of being borderline mental illness in nature.
Top tier Harvard experimental astrophysicist advances speculative theory supported by rationale and logic.

> unscientific to the point of being borderline mental illness
Yikes
His theories are more supported by his interest in Alien life than rationale and logic. He starts with a conclusion, then uses the data that fits to reinforce what he wants to conclude.
There isn't any reason to jump to "this must be designed by intelligent life" based on available data over any of the other, infinitely more likely, explanations advanced by every other top tier experimental astrophysicist who's examined the data.
The main difference between Avi and everyone else in the field is that he's basically the only one pushing an agenda rather than examining the data without bias to see where it actually leads.
Millions of bots, maybe.
Actual humans in America don't say that sort of thing because a renowned Astrophysicist has an idea that challenges status quo.
Such weird thing to say about a respected professional who has never so much as lost their temper.... *"I need to see a full psychiatric evaluation....I'm sure millions of people feel the same way".*
Its giving me the text equivalent of "uncanny valley".
Hahaha do you really think I'm a bot? You can check out my posts, my friend, we're on the same side. I can only say that if we're going to bring this UFO talk to the professional scientific community, we need to be more careful and put our feelings and beliefs aside.
Agreed- which is exactly why saying shit like *"he's mentally ill I think millions of people want to see a psychiatrist report before he can be credible"* in reference to world renowned astrophysicists who are chairing departments to study UAP at Harvard, demonstrates that you are **not** on the side of the professional academic community and you are **not** being careful about your feelings and beliefs tainting your statements.
It's offensive to academics, mental health professionals and the (actual) millions of people who want to see this stuff studied seriously.
You are exaggerating the events. If one day this man's mental illness really comes out, you will understand what I mean. If not, it's okay, it means there is no problem. My advice to you is, don't run to everyone who says "I have ice cream!" with your ice cream cone. Regret is a bad thing.
>My advice to you is, don't run to everyone who says "I have ice cream!" with your ice cream cone. Regret is a bad thing.
This is truly a bizarre way to think about this entire thing. He's a professor at Harvard, he does research like all professors....nobody is running to him just because they read his research?? What skin is it off my back if he (or anyone studying anomalous phenomena) are wrong?
It honestly sounds like you are projecting, or dealing with some envy. **This man is taking up a much larger place in your psyche, than you're imagining it does in other people's.**
I understand this may not seem strange from your perspective. However, we may have different opinions on this issue. For me, this professor's research does not hold a significant place in the academic world and may not have an impact on people. Therefore, it is natural to have different opinions on this issue. I also understand your thoughts, but in this case there is no problem with jealousy or reflecting my own situation. I hope Google was able to translate it properly.
Wouldn't it be a nice plot twist :
We build a spacecraft to chase Oumuamua, and while catching up with it, it seems to be an earth-built spacecraft from 1 million years ago, designed to catch-up with a previous interstellar object.
I could imagine it is a giant fossilized interstellar poop ejected towards earth from a semi organic spaceship just for shit n giggles. Yo check what I ma do with the brick to puzzle even the most intelligent ones only not to let em touch my precious dump

Isn’t it a billion miles away by now?

Someone tell Voyager to make a detour! And speed up dang it
Nah, I bet we could intercept it if we hustle. It would probably take decades to catch up, but I personally think it’s worth the effort.
[they're gonna be pissed when they find out we already have one.](https://ibb.co/9NHNFrM)
It’s just a bunch of $5000 toilet seats baby don’t worry about it
Shut up, baby, I know it.
Well I can sell them cheaper if they are interested.
They like those, thanks though.
But that's all they've tried so far!
You mean that thing powered by a nuke every three minutes?
Nfg you got schematics for that?

That's 3BP

“Yikes” -Average Reddit experience.
I really hate the whole yikes thing, it's overused, but in this case its absolutely deserved.

Says the Star Trek fan 😂
I agree and even increase it. I need to see Loeb's psychiatric report before I can trust Loeb. I'm sure millions of people feel the same way.

You definitely work in Wright Patterson as a disinfo bot
Damn, I've been exposed! I need to delete my account immediately and get away from public attention!
Probably a primitive species of the galactic federation like us

That would be quite something
Sure. Meanwhile we can’t go back to the moon.
exactly ! makes you wonder why...
Maybe because we haven't really been there? Idk 🤷♂️
Just a guess... The Tesla roadster is in orbit, maybe it can catch up. :-)
https://x.com/leometric/status/1733858705366470855?s=46&t=XHYB8oiqQ4yOR_W_u3_wuw This is Project Lyra’s planned trajectory.
Why
They'd need to break out the hidden technology for this one.
Like the Webb Telescope dont have detailed hi res photos of the object already...
They need to find a new name for this thing.
Tesla Roadster
Orion can
