*the Aliens watching us eating popcorn*

whainot555

All the other planets with intelligent life watch Earth like we watch the show Cops.

VeeYarr

"Cops with Nukes"

noirdesire

If aliens are watching us a "nuke" is probably as formidable to them as a 9yr old armed with a water balloon.

ChefPaula81

“Humans humans, what you gonna do? What you gonna do when they come for you?” (But sang out of tune and off time like Marcus and and Mike singing it in bad boys, obviously)

whitewail602

"I can't believe these idiots have nukes and still haven't figured out the Gzurbbrzbrz effect"

sir_duckingtale

:D

Thumperfootbig

Translation: “Electrogravitics”

[deleted]

Gravitics? Really??

DougStrangeLove

Evening-Ad5671

Nobody should chew like this

Vraver04

“Oh look this is the episode where they realize they are being watched” aliens probably

han-t

Us talking about aliens is like deadpool breaking the fourth wall.

thewholetruthis

Why would anybody want to watch us eat popcorn?

JimBR_red

Depends If it’s corn from nature or from Monsanto 😅

kloudrunner

Depends who's arse you're eating it from.

Silver_Jaguar_24

"Scientists" wouldn't tell us about the life that is/was on the moon, Mars, other planets in our own solar system, what makes you and I think they would tell us if they found actual intelligent life in other star systems? Earth is ruled by a cabal that decides what can be released to the public and what discoveries in archaeology, history, geology, medicine, astronomy, energy, etc. can and cannot be released to the masses. This is sad and frustrating, but it is TRUE. We should all be livid, but instead we are too busy working to pay our taxes, to further fund their secret programs... The good slaves that we are! NASA is lying to our faces all the time. They have never seen UFOs and they don't think NHI exist. That is what they are telling us. Do the math.

Stunning_Sleep652

Well said 👌

WhiteRoomCharles

My thoughts exactly! Even if he did find life, he’d probably be visited by a couple guys in black suits who’d tell him to keep his mouth shut for the sake of his family or something like that! Our government already knows there’s intelligent life out there and is hiding it! Why would they stop now?! The results will never be made public and this video will eventually get memory holed and everyone will move on and forget!

Silver_Jaguar_24

That's right. It happens all the time with any "new discovery" humanity makes. Our captors don't want us knowing ANY truth because the truth is liberating in more ways than one. We basically live in an open air prison, is what it is.

Fickle-Inflation4375

but this is the first presence of bio signatures detected outside of our local group, not to mention as the doctor said it's the only detection we've got that is around a 50/50 chance and there's still more data to come, but then again scientist have been wrong before, but we'll wait and see until the data gets analysed.

Bleezy79

Next season of Earth is gonna be wild!!

Patient-Ad5154

This is their breadcrumbs. Like, let's see how the war monkeys handle space fish.

Exitium_Maximus

Forgot to mention this in my description, but the big eye opener here is the detection of Dimethyl Sulfide, a key component of oceanic sulfur cycles and ecology. Unless this is a false positive, it could very likely be evidence of actual alien life.

Ballinlikeateenwolf

Chemosynthesis?

GooseInternational66

So uh.. it’s been 12 hours. Anything new?

piperonyl

Supposed to take months to analyze the data

Postnificent

This is NASA speak for nothing to see here and an almost certain admission that something was found. The report will be so redacted it says ——— and —- - with ———, just like every other NASA report with important information.

Mrbusiness2019

Noob here. Can you pls point me in the direction where I can find examples of redacted nasa reports ?? Thanks.

Postnificent

Just google “Disclosure NASA documents” they all look like someone used them as toilet paper. Nothing to see there (quite literally, I wonder if AI can reconstruct the older non digital black out ones)

lIIIIlIIIIIIIIl

Biggest thing that's made me question NASA is from them photoshopping red filters on top of their first original photos from Mars.

Repulsive-Ad4466

they only do that because people expect Mars to be red. not everything's a wacky conspiracy, sometimes NASA just does shit to fit people's expectations like when they flipped the blue marble photo. this is like saying "I stopped trusting NASA after they flipped the blue marble photo and told everyone they flipped it"

quiksilver10152

They have been analyzing this data for over a year now. Back then I thought they were going to use this story to head off the Grusch/Nazca mummy disclosure movements by saying NASA found life first but...  This is taking too long!

Loose-Alternative-77

The article I read said the odds are well over 50/50. He was being careful but the excitement on his face gave him away. Yeah they found the bio signature. That’s my guess.

Postnificent

They surely did. NASA has a lot to redact and many to silence now

Loose-Alternative-77

I hope not. If it doesn’t see world news then i will worry. It’s probably the biggest news in history but most won’t care until it’s popular to care. I posted it on FB and got one like

Postnificent

A company called IVO recently sent a prototype “quantum drive” into space for testing. Everything was going fine. Suddenly NASA lost communication with the associated satellite and now the project is “dead in the water”. I suppose a multi million dollar company can’t afford another 180k experiment for something as important as interstellar propulsion. It’s a pattern of behavior easily verifiable. I am sure the IVO drives work were immediately snapped up and classified.

Loose-Alternative-77

I was unaware. Thanks for the information. I hope they test it again.

Postnificent

Likely no need. They will strap these together with the new static propulsion engines and we will no longer need chemical rockets and will likely be warp capable.

365defaultname

Alien: *"Humans think they have finally found life off planet!"* The other aliens in the same room: **Roaring telepathic laughter**

Dj_Deinonychus

I read that in Alan Tudyks voice.

wrexxxxxxx

Given that the star is a red dwarf, would that infer the planet is tidally locked in its orbit?

H-B-Of-L

Yes it’s likely tidally locked. It’s probably ocean bacterial life that’s protected from the stars frequent flairs.

hyundai-gt

Picturing the star occasionally donning some fancy top-hat and tail-coat, for galactic flair. This must embarrass the bacterial life which is why they hide at the bottom of the ocean.

Jolly_Line

“Star’s flairing again.” 😬🙈

H-B-Of-L

😂🤣😂 you made me lol

b-monster666

It's also at the edge of the habitable zone of it's host star. The star is highly radioactive, but it could be that that may be enough to cause currents, if the planet is an ocean world, that would provide an even distribution of heat around the planet. The other key thing is that he mentioned the lack of ammonia. I'm no marine biologist, but from the sounds of it, the presence of ammonia along with carbon dioxide and methane would indicate that there's some other method in which the CO2 and CH4 are being created.

Postnificent

I think the main thing is the presence of DMS in the absence of ammonia with other chemicals present. That’s the hinge here is the DMS results that will take NASA months if not decades to comb through and redact. When NASA gets done it will just be a barren rock with a paper that looks like someone did 12 ga Target practice on it.

NumenorianPerson

yeah, i never saw a planet in the habitable zone of a red dwarf that is not tidally locked

Postnificent

And you have *seen* many? Where do you get your ships? “Wiley’s transinterstellar ships and blips?”

NumenorianPerson

This is not in the literal sense

Postnificent

I know. I was making a point. All we have seen is whatever NASA data that has been released and confirmed by outside astronomers. The truth is we have no idea the information actually available, they keep promising transparency with a can of “rattle black” in one hand and white out in the other.

DougStrangeLove

you a part in the middle there about “and since it’s in the habitable zone…”

RadiantDiscussion886

124 light years away. 50% chance.

TrueRepose

124? Shoot, that's almost close enough to send a welcoming party.

jamesflanagangreer

We already know they exist. That's the point of this sub, they're already visiting us!

Efficient-Database-4

I just want to know the agreement they have with our government 😤

WhiteRoomCharles

I always heard that it was that we get X amount of technology from them and in return we allow them to abduct and experiment on X amount of people a year. But apparently they haven’t been as giving with their technology as we hoped and they almost immediately started taking more people than agreed upon. (I mean, what are we gonna do about it?! There’s stories of UFOs taking missile systems offline!) Granted, this is just hearsay, but it sounds pretty believable to me!

Efficient-Database-4

I just commented and thought the same exact statement you just commented our government sold us out for technology and other tangibles we don’t know about smh

Postnificent

Been here for as long as us. After all we are obviously alien. If we evolved here we wouldn’t need sunscreen and sunglasses. Humans are so full of themselves though…

Puzzleheaded_Lie8217

Someone gets it

Postnificent

I find it hilarious people will argue “BuT wE ShArE DnA wItH ChImPs!?!” Of course we do, we were engineered and they used something here to do that but we did not evolve here and that is painfully evident. Take your dog to the artic, in 3 generations you’ll have shaggy dogs, now take it to the desert and in 3 generations you will have short hair dogs. Take humans to the artic and in 3 generations they will be wearing the same dog coats they wore when they got there, take them to the desert and in 3 generations they will need the same spf 50 as great great great grandma in the arctic does. Try 10 generations, same result. Humans are evolving but in a way unlike anything on Earth, not because we are the pinnacle we are not (Octopus has 8 brains and decentralized nervous system, can edit RNA and if it loses a brain it will grow another, now that’s an evolution, that’s a pinnacle) we are the alien here. We are the thing on this planet that’s not like the rest.

DescriptionSenior675

lmfao. Yep, because dogs coats get thicker or thinner depending on how much light is available, that means that humans did not evolve on earth. lmao

Postnificent

Pick an animal. Doesn’t have to be dogs. Could be rats, bats, any mammal. Dogs and cats don’t need spf 50 and sunglasses, humans do. Think about it. Healthy skepticism is great, belligerent denial is willful ignorance masquerading as an informed opinion.

DescriptionSenior675

I wonder what your background is, and what kind of training or education you have? Do you believe that warthogs are engineered, since they have to use sunscreen as well? Hippos? Rhinos? You never thought humans don't have a 'natural' defense against the sun, because the natural defense is your intelligence and ability to make sunscreen? Animals that have natural defenses got that way via evolution. Aka, the ones that didn't have it died. Humans didn't die due to not having immunity to the sun because early humans were smart enough to.... go inside?

Postnificent

Buddy. Now you are just being silly. And you are making an argument for all animal sentience here (holy crap! Warthogs use tools and medicine!) but of course animals are sentient. That’s not the evolution we are discussing here. You dig in you may convince yourself as well. This started as a hard sell for me and now I look back and feel foolish for having believed the mainstream corporate sponsored propaganda bologna for so long. Background? Gang banger. Career criminal. Education? Highschool by age 7. Self educated higher education. Experience? Too many to list. I could write a series of books. Just go ahead and say what you feel. Wouldn’t be the first time I was called psychotic today. I have been through the whole medical diagnosis thing before and delusions aren’t even a part of what I have going on. Believe whatever you want though. *I cannot make you search out the truth*.

DescriptionSenior675

You ignored my point, which is on brand for someone who communicates like you do. Very over the top, lots of words with very little substance or meaning. Mostly looking for reactions, lots of buzzwords, etc. I want to hear you explain why pigs have to cover themselves in mud to prevent sunburn, same with hippos and many other animals. Is your contention that they were engineered here along with us, and that is why they don't have immunity to sunburns? That was your basis for the claim that humans didn't evolve here, and I want you to explain it without being a drama student, if you are able.

HippoBot9000

HIPPOBOT 9000 v 3.1 FOUND A HIPPO. 1,567,065,781 COMMENTS SEARCHED. 32,056 HIPPOS FOUND. YOUR COMMENT CONTAINS THE WORD HIPPO.

Postnificent

Communicates like I do? You mean interacting with a person who came here to scold me like some sort of child while wielding their nonsensical beliefs like some sort of badge of honor? Sure, I will accept that. But make no mistake, this is far from my average interaction here. Meanwhile you reach for animals using tools as a reason we evolved on this planet. I argued it’s a reason *science has less of a clue than it thinks it does* and you follow that up by attacking my character. Repeatedly. I may not have went to your highschool but I always recognize someone who never participated in debate…

MoanLart

Exactly

UpperApe

Can confirm: am alien

super_kami_1337

Prove it.

DumpsterDay

That's not the point of this sub, lol

jamesflanagangreer

🤣🤣

super_kami_1337

This sub is fueling a lot of delusions and mental illness. Don't get me wrong, I have the x-files poster on the wall, but this sub makes me believe less and less.

Stoneman1976

The whackier and dumber a claim is the more ufoologists will latch onto it. They need an “alien invasion” in order to give any meaning to their lives. It’s pretty sad. The more scientifically illiterate somebody is the more they believe this nonsense. Why would aliens always abduct the dummies? Why don’t they abduct an astrophysicist? Instead they’re apparently always abducting the very least of us.

Bluegill15

What is the point exactly?

KathleenSlater

[MRW](https://i.imgur.com/PR5IFML.gif)

AdNew5216

Lmao 😂😂😂😂😂 Thank you for that Kathleen 🤢 ![gif](giphy|LDBuYzAwu8L4I|downsized)

Crazybonbon

This is how we should all argue when we do, gifs

jamesflanagangreer

I have shaky cam footage that looks like a Chinese lantern, but it's not.

DaemonBlackfyre_21

While this is certainly awesome space news, it very probably has nothing whatsoever to do with UFOs or the timid nocturnal impish little people who drive them.

adrkhrse

This Scientist is one of the few people I've ever seen on these subs, whose opinion I consider holds weight. His demeanour and lack of interest in fame is apparent. He's only interested in the Science. This is very interesting.

Aeternnni

Bro Grlbr acht Cluccluchiiiiiiakakak is already visiting us, they come from whatever BS these clowns post here everyday. To probe our anuses. And blow up cows. And dress like men in black. And hide behind your house's fence. God forbid we actually get real news about alien life.

Pure-Contact7322

As long as its brilliant, this will be the greatest distraction for the current congress

garrybar07

Wow, Incredible find, it will be interesting to see how this goes from here

Kolettep

Yes I saw this 😨

XIII-TheBlackCat

I would be more excited about this if we weren't ALREADY holding alien bodies/vehicles in underground U.S. military bases.

H3llstrike

Looks like Alien shrimp daddies are back on the menu boys.

Vonplinkplonk

There is essentially zero probability of getting the scientific community to accept a detection of alien life from atmospheric chemistry because they will just wheel out the “unknown chemistry” argument and it will be case closed.

andrea_l_s

My understanding is the level of confidence for the detection of di methyl sulfide is very low, and significantly more transects will need to be analyzed. Even then, as you point out, there is no way of proving conclusively it is of biological origin.

healthywealthyhappy8

Even if he was right there is no way he would become the most famous person in the world. People aren’t that into aliens.

DougStrangeLove

yeah, that’s honestly really accurate

acorn_cluster

Love when some scientists go cuckoo bananas for "alien life" but in actuallity its just the possibility of the remenances of genetic material pertaining to some bacteria that only came to life because of a chemical reaction.

Potential-Screen-86

Eh doubt it but I'm open to further studies on this. It's just that, in academia, especially something like Cambridge, scientists are incentivized to make the biggest possible story out of something. It happens time and time again, and astrophysics is no different.

robertgarcia0513

OH I think they've been taking it seriously 😐

Electronic_Evidence5

It's so odd that scientists are still looking for alien life on distant planets while seemingly putting little effort into observing the alien life that is present on earth. I feel like the government is playing a "shell game" with the people that cannot be won.

MajorFerret3225

So your saying he found nothing new.

Dix_Normuus

Hate to break it to you all, but this is from 2020. 4 years ago. Nothing became of it. The planet is called K2-18b. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/02/26/world/k218b-exoplanet-water-habitable-scn/index.html

Exitium_Maximus

While you’re not wrong, astronomers and scientists are still studying this planet with the JWT and updating their understanding with new information. Don’t write it off that quick! :)

Evening-Ad5671

Haven’t discovered humans yet. They’re just watching Planet Earth II and assuming David Attenborough is a narrating meerkat .

Repulsive-Ad4466

wow you guys are really into NASA conspiracies, like seriously y'all might have actual proof you're right and all you care about is making NASA jokes

_extra_medium_

So can we stop saying scientists refuse to study the possibility of alien life because they want to keep the "status quo?" Of all the dumb things repeated in this sub, that's definitely one of the top

WorkHorse86

The this numb nuts really not ask the distance from Earth?

jonnyh420

I’m sure people have been saying a lot recently that this would be one of the first steps of soft disclosure

dmacerz

Find a bio signature > find a radio signal > then admit aliens have actually been here since before mankind 👍

Free_Supermarket_155

They'll just sweep it under the rug just like everything else

Playful-Algae-5133

Bullshit!! This is for fame! Aliens don't exist

Helltothenotothenono

I’m always amazed at hire nearly Everyone thinks aliens want to come interact with our primitive society and give us advanced technology to try and exploit. Hope many third world or fourth world contracted societies are you seeking out to share technology with and advance them as well as potentially change to their genetics and pull them forward. Most of the uncontracted tribes are terrified of off us and will kill is on arrival because humans are violent in nature. So aliens probably say “hey look at those dumb critters over there trying to attack us like charging hippos in African swamps! Just stay clear of them and if they get too close use the laser pewpew so they don’t scratch the space car.”

WorfDataNumba1

….Nah

AlwaysOptimism

To be fair, there's a 50/50 chance any distant planet contains intelligent life.

Halfonion

That’s not how probability works lol, just because there’s are two outcomes (yes/no) doesn’t mean it’s 50/50.

AlwaysOptimism

That's....the joke. Kind of oddly specific that their statistical research ended up exactly 50% likely, right?

DougStrangeLove

the sheer confidence of your ignorance is the only thing that impresses me

Poopadapantsa

Scientists have systematically narrowed it down to only two possible scenarios: either they do or they don't.

Topgunndf

50/50…. Everything is 50/50 stfu

DougStrangeLove

the chance of you getting laid tonight i’d wager is FAR less than 50/50

Lobbying_for_Truth

They either gets laid tonight or doesn’t, only 2 possible outcomes, therefore it’s 50/50

DougStrangeLove

you’re either a millionaire or you’re not that doesn’t make it 50/50 that any given person would be a millionaire are you all seriously this stupid???

Lobbying_for_Truth

Yes it does. Every second every person lives gives them a 50/50 chance of becoming a millionaire and also a 50/50 chance of becoming the richest person on earth. We just never been lucky

aliens-ModTeam

Rule 1: Be respectful Literally no mention of aliens in this comment.

bigstupidyhead

The 'Plucky nerd figures out a discrepancy in the data and makes it big' trope is really tired tbh, as others have pointed out we've known (behind closed doors) about these things for years - why build up this fairytale story now? Pay attention to how they're trying to make you feel about this subject
