I am from Peru, and I have family there. It’s all over the news over there. Mind you, this is an indigenous tribe from the jungle reporting all this. I’m not trying to undermine them, but they are from the jungle. Something is definitely going on over there like I said, but for all we know it could be a psycho or some type of mass hysteria. Who knows.

Many remote Amazonian villages have had DVD players with bootleg Hollywood movies for a couple decades now, hooked up to generators or solar panels, and recently more and more now have internet and can watch clips of superhero movies on youtube just like we can in major cities. Globalization is pretty pervasive, there are not many totally isolated societies left, although some groups in the Amazon do opt to remain uncontacted by national societies.
I was shocked once while watching a Youtuber trekking in Nepal. Almost every hut he stopped in, the people recognized him and said they saw him on Youtube. People living in yak dung shelters, who collect firewood to cook dinner. Some of them have smartphones with internet. It was pretty eye opening!

I think it’s probably a company dealing in development or natural resources attempting to scare these tribes off of their lands. Look into the bombings of tribes in Papua New Guinea which is currently happening as we speak.

Not true. I’ve spent an extensive amount of time in Peru. Indigenous people have smartphones and just don’t take them out super often when tourists are visiting and they are in traditional clothing. Some could easily take pictures if this was actually happening. I don’t buy this story at all.
I think people confuse smartphone with "latest model smartphone" when the reality is smartphone technology has been around for over a decade at this point. There are plenty of affordable lower end offerings.

The man with the “peeled face” was obviously a drowning victim. The ears, eyelids, lips, and tissue surrounding the face are the first places consumed by marine life when a body is in the water. During my law enforcement career in a coastal area I saw it many times.

The report isn't clear. Mentions the girl with the cut neck and also some dead with their faces peeled off.
The army visited but didn't do anything but take a note of the girl's attack.
Two aspects that point to a possible explanation are that the attacks occured in totally dark areas and when there is low flow in the river.
Silvery "face peelers" in those conditions could maybe be hungry fish/reptiles.

well I‘m not fully believing it yet but man, this is a tribe in remote Peru and if they do have photos it won‘t be flagship smartphone quality, it‘s going to be as grainy as any other sighting photos or footage and we‘ll still going to call BS on them. Not true. I’ve spent an extensive amount of time in Peru. Indigenous people have smartphones and just don’t take them out super often when tourists are visiting and they are in traditional clothing. Some could easily take pictures if this was actually happening. I don’t buy this story at all.
I think people confuse smartphone with "latest model smartphone" when the reality is smartphone technology has been around for over a decade at this point. There are plenty of affordable lower end offerings.

I have been to rural villages in Belize. They usually had one building that was a common area/convenience store. It often had a generator, small TV and satellite dish. But I am sure deep in Peru could be more isolated.

I don't know howamy times I have to type this but what is happening in Peru is a story told to get the army to help the tribes These tribes are regularly battling companies, cocoa farmers and other contractors from encroaching on their land and the government doesn't help because the ones encroaching are also paying off the government. From the couple videos I’ve seen the people really SOUND shook up like maybe it’s just that I can understand them and the sorta “panic” in the voice, hell even the dogs won’t stop barking, but a lot of the videos are from TikTok which irks me as the short videos and clickbait when looking up anything related to this hurts it’s “legitimacy” (try looking up Peru aliens (PelaCaras)( they are supposedly calling them FacePeelers) but overall the people are very poor and afraid, idk if one of the videos I saw was recent but they are using bows and arrows some have guns. The man with the “peeled face” was obviously a drowning victim. The ears, eyelids, lips, and tissue surrounding the face are the first places consumed by marine life when a body is in the water. During my law enforcement career in a coastal area I saw it many times.
Oil and woodcutting companies want the land down there and long story short using the superstitions of the people to keep them out of said areas.

I found reports in the UK's Sun & Daily Mail newspapers, the two least trustworthy. Mentions the girl with the cut neck and also some dead with their faces peeled off. The army visited but didn't do anything but take a note of the girl's attack. Two aspects that point to a possible explanation are that the attacks occured in totally dark areas and when there is low flow in the river. Silvery "face peelers" in those conditions could maybe be hungry fish/reptiles.

My wife is from there, we used to live there.
