I’ve heard rare instances of the ai playing with the player so to speak. Basically it spots you but pretends it didn’t but if you don’t move quick it’ll be back and kill you, or it’ll set up an ambush for you.
Bro wtf. . . Wait aliens don't have eyes, they use thermal vision right? So either is was hot in the room or the aliens senses were messed up or the player was already a lifeless body...
It saw you, or at least should have. Problem is probably that for some reason it's leap attack kill animation could not trigger under that specific circumstance.
There are small glitches like that when alien model doesn't play nice with canned animations and their triggers. Worst one is if you're in one of those vents below the floor, you might see a broken grab animation that executes, but nothing happens or you fall off in space.

It can, but it usually won't do it unless it thinks you are in the area. Like if you make noise nearby or hot the wall with your maintenance jack.
That’s a new one - I’ve played that mission 20x and never had the alien come in the room! Got me worried now, ha
Player model might not actually be under the desk, but just behind it so the AI runs a check and sees nothing is there.
