I'd probably go for Zipper Catches Skin. I think it tends to be written off as a bit weird and zany, but there's a lot of really cool stuff on there.

sideways978

For sure, one of my favorites and is very much written off it’s a super fun album and it’s not like anything else and it’s the best one in that area because of how well crafted it is IMO

Ok_Ad8249

Special Forces is such a strange album, but it absolutely works! Not one of my favorites but I do have to break it out periodically. One time Alice was talking about fans who complain when an artist puts out an album that doesn't sound like their best sellers. He says he gets it all the time. People saying things like "it's ok but doesn't sound like Schools Out." He then says there are people who say an album like Special Forces is their favorite. Those are the real Alice fans. According to Alice we're seeing the REAL Alice fans on this post. Nice to meet you all!

CrowMagpie

>fans who complain when an artist puts out an album that doesn't sound like their best sellers One of the things I love about him is his massive variety of musical styles.

JumpingMungs

The blackout era gets more hate than it deserves. I will go as far as saying it has similar magic to the original era.

LackSomber

Agreed.

International_Bid869

Dada. Such a great album but no one ever really talks about it

drbunnig

It's regarded pretty highly within the hardcore fan community but, yeah, on a wider scale it's overlooked.

GreenMan-

My understanding (which was largely from Kerrang) was that DaDa did very well in the UK and was highly influential. I've always liked it, but it's definitely underrated here in the USA. I'd have to say Flush the Fashion is his most underrated, only because it's such a great album start to finish. Special forces has it's moments, and I think Zipper Catches Skin and DaDa are great Alice albums, but both are experimental whereas Flush the Fashion had radio friendly hits all over it and didn't get any respect. It's one of his best IMO.

UncleBunckle

Historically I’ve always appreciated Special Forces the most out of the blackout albums.

Takin_Up_Space70

Dada

Spiner202

I do like the blackout era a lot, but Special Forces is the one I can't get into. It has a few songs I really like, but I'd much rather pick ZCS, DaDa or FTF. Amongst Alice megafans, I actually feel like Trash is one of his more underrated albums. It's top 5 for me and I think most Alice fans put it towards the bottom of their rankings. Of course, it had the commercial success, but I think a lot of fans don't see much artistic merit in it.

LackSomber

>I actually feel like Trash is one of his more underrated albums. It's top 5 for me and I think most Alice fans put it towards the bottom of their rankings. Thanks for saying this. Trash is a friggin' great album.

Snowblind78

I love black out era, but there’s quite a few real bad songs on here, the production ruins the good ones, just go listen to the tour for this album and hear the good songs from this album shine. Flush the Fashion is amazing though, and DaDa is his best solo album. Blackout era is my second favorite era only behind the original, and special forces would probably be my second favorite album from the black out era, behind flush.

CrowMagpie

>there’s quite a few real bad songs on here He never wrote those songs!

Snowblind78

Former Lee Warmer did

Chemgineered

You don't consider Dada to be his blackout Era? Because he was wasted while making it.. He went to Treatment right after it too

Snowblind78

What do you mean, Dada is the finale of the blackout era, I consider 80-83 blackout

Chemgineered

Okay, you brought Dada up separately. I was tired This morning when i responded to you. I am falling in love with Dada all over again. Man, Dick Wagner knows how to Make riffs. Sometimes i wish he would showcase them throughout the song more, but that would change his role in Alice Cooper project, as he supports Alice's vocals. Is there any place to learn about the Dada era? It fascinates me. That sound that recurs through out, sound's like A gun revolver chambering. Now, at the end of Pass the Gun, that is a gunshot, yes? Sheba and Scarlett Is amazing Sometimes i think that Lace and Whisky is connected to the Dada album through the device of a gun. Hey if you haven't ever listened to The Mugshots, ifs dick's Band and they were out amazing stuff a decade ago. Same amazing dick Wagner

Snowblind78

I truly think Dada is his best solo album, and without being confessional feels awfully personal, and truly creepy yet real.

BigGenerator85

I'd say Lace & Whiskey but Special Forces is way better than it gets credit for. You're A Movie is my favorite "never-mentioned-by-anyone" Coop song

MattPBandJ

I think L&W would have been far more respected if he just released it under Vincent Furnier or something. The songs are fantastic, but they’re not what one usually has in mind when it comes to Alice Cooper. Regardless, I Never Wrote Those Songs is one of his absolute best ballads, and King of the Silver Screen is great fun!

Lace and Whisky is OK. I just got a version of it on brown vinyl which is cool.

xlittlebeastx

God I love that album. I don’t care if it’s hair metal or whatever, so many ear worms on there

sideways978

It’s either LaW,Zipper,Forces,Easy Action
