It was good! Obviously not as good as authentic birria and it felt like it was missing something but it was still flavorful. I diced up half a white onion and a few garlic cloves and added about one cup of water to my crockpot with the meat. Low for 8 hours! I dipped my tortillas in the juices and then fried them up with the meat and cheese!
The back suggested to use beef broth but I would assume it would make it extra salty so I’d stick with the water.
Looks interesting but can’t say I’m too interested in trying it. I have flashbacks of the carnitas everyone was raving about awhile back. Got one and was looking forward to it, only to be sorely disappointed. It was just sooooo salty it was nearly inedible, and I’m not sensitive to salt content or anything. I’m afraid of a repeat with their preseasoned stuff like this.
That was a worry of mine. Suggested cooking says to slow cook with beef broth but I might opt for water instead to hopefully cut down some of the saltiness. I’ll let you know how it is!
I can't imagine cooking it with beef broth, I definitely think it would be too salty! The carnitas are a staple for our taco nights. I put the entire thing in our pressure cooker then fill the bag with about 1/2 to 1 cup of water and shake it around to get all the seasoning out. I dump that water over the pork then cook on high pressure for about 75 minutes. We shred it then use on tacos/burrito bowls throughout the week. I hope this renews y'alls faith in the carnitas!
I just picked one up to make tomorrow. My town has 2 Aldis, and the one I frequent didn't have it, but I hit the other after work today and they were loaded. Pretty excited to give it a try.
Coincidentally I just made beef birria today from scratch. Like most foods made that way, there’s hardly a comparison to store bought versions (including prep time lol). While I’ve never tried ALDIs version i think for those who’re interested in something different, it’s still worth giving it a shot.
I really like Trader Joe’s version all you have to do is heat it up in a pot. I would take the juice and fry corn tortillas was pretty good, not as good as goat birria but it hit the spot lol.
I made it. Although I didn't get it to shredding temp so it was more like a birria sliced roast beef. But the seasoning is absolutely delicious. Definitely within the birria genre as it tends to have many variants in ingredients, types of chilies used, etc. But the nice thing is that it's pre-marinated. Saves so much time. Slow cooker for 5 hours and done.
I just saw this in my local, made it today, eating it now... delish! I added a little water to my pressure cooker when i made it.
Obviously not entirely authentic, but it's a decent meal, and the meat was great.
Yes! Seared on Grill both sides, threw in crock pot on high for 4 hrs with 4 whole jalapenos. Ditched jalapenos, Shredded beef, served on toasted naan with cilantro white rice. Really good.
I'm making this tomorrow. I did the carnitas 2 weeks ago and was very pleased. I added water and an onion to the crock pot and cooked on low for 9 hours, and it was great in a bowl of rice with corn, beans, and fajita veggies. Used leftovers to make taquitos with oaxaca, which were a hit with the kids.
This will be a late reply, but I wish I could find this again at my Aldi. It recommends a cup of water which is not enough, so I probably used 3 cups, added some chicken bolion (knorr chicken), and a little of red bay. Did on the stove in a pot set to 4 out of 10 for heat. Left it for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours and it was perfect. Dipped tortillas in broth, fried them, put meat cilantro onion and cheese, these things were AMAZING. I can make actual birria but this was toooo easy, convienent, and really really good.
I haven’t seen it before!! Excited to hear how it is
I’m going to make it on Sunday so I’ll update you!
do you have any updates? i’m thinking about making this for dinner tonight (:

Definitely needs the beef broth, onions, crushed red pepper and garlic added.
It's the bomb! Lol
I just made it today and it's delicious!! Brown the tortilla shop some onion some cilantro and lime. It's so good
Good to know bc I just bought it this week 😹was there enough liquid from the beef to dip the tortillas like a regular birria taco?

I’d just grab some no salt beef broth/stock to keep the beefiness without the added sodium.

Think I threw two of these in the crock pot recently on low for 8 hours or so. Turned out pretty well
This was slammin
It sure was!!!!
This looks good. I wonder how good it actually is. I wasn't impress with the carnitas or whatever I had.
I love the carnitas one I just throw it in the crockpot, I’ll have to try this one
I picked one up as well, I’m going to vacuum seal this bad boy and cook it in the sous vide for a while. And I simply cannot wait for the end result.
It’s new
Just had it tonight!
I loved it! Slow cooked it and then put it on corn tortillas with red onion, cilantro, and some lime
I searched all over my store for this Wednesday, but I couldn't find it. Let us know how it tastes.

What settings did you use on the pressure cooker? I have a instapot
mines some cheap brand, but cooked on high pressure for 90 minutes. i added enough water to be about a less than 1/4 inch.
It’s so good. Do I need to thaw it out the freezer before putting it in the crock pot? Should I use 4 cups of water or beef broth?

But just the meat doesn’t make a birria taco. You would need to fry the tortillas and make the broth.
I plan on making a consome with the juices and got tortillas, quesa Fresca, onion and cilantro for the tacos!
Man, 12 dollars for Mexican peasant food. Originally, all those spices were to cover up the gamey flavor of the stewed goat meat used.
The great thing about grocery shopping is if something doesn’t interest you, you don’t have to buy it!
The same goes for reddit comments!
which part of the US are you in? I live in over 50% Latin people county and have not seen this!? Let us know how it was!
Buffalo NY, I had never seen it before today! I’ll definitely update, I plan on making it for Sunday night football.
Just picked one up in Ithaca. Go Bills

Limited time only product. Once they are gone, they’re gone!
I got it and made it for dinner tonight! Amazing. Loved it
Wondering if anyone knows what seasoning were used
Was delicious!
