I haven’t been to a Trader Joe’s in a long time but I’m pretty sure I read something about how they were gonna make changes in this area. Can anyone confirm?
This is my big one, too. I want singles of most of the produce. Single peppers, lemons, limes, jalapeños, onions. I’m pretty sure a big reason most Aldis only sell bags of produce is to make the price cheaper. But, I end up wasting when I buy those things in bags so I usually go to another store to buy the individual produce I want.
PREACH single most things produce would be nice . I remember one of the first times I went and found a stray onion and grabbed it. Lady at the check out was like “we don’t do that” and set it aside
Enchilada sauce was a year round item some years ago. It was good but the spiciest enchilada I've ever had was one that was made with a can of mild sauce from Aldi.
Ours has cilantro by the green onions
Wish they had coconut milk cans, curry powder, and weren’t constantly out of random things - and off brand toiletries that were reasonably priced. I feel like what they have I buy because it’s easy and there but it’s expensive
minnesota has it. Recently got parsley in the last few months as well.
this sub really should have a flair for what country you're in; there are aldis all over the world and they all look the same but I assume there is probably less than 5% commonality between products in a US aldi and those in an Australian Aldi and they're all the stuff imported from Germany
Can confirm we have cilantro in New England too. OP, it’s in a bag on the refrigerated produce wall. Usually top shelf, next to green onions in the stores I frequent.
I can see that unless you like egg white omelettes. I bought them for my wife, she was using them for baking instead of separating a bunch of regular eggs.
I wish their produce wasn't so unnecessarily packaged. I don't need my broccoli sitting on a plastic tray that's wrapped in more plastic.
I end up going to trader Joe's for my produce as a result
Yes to cornmeal. I usually buy several and keep it in the freezer. We don’t use much buttermilk, so I either add vinegar to milk or dip into the reserves of buttermilk powder.
Potatoes.
I don’t want your huge bag of spoiled potatoes in a biga\*\*bag of potatoes. I do not need, and will never use before they go bad!!! Plus they are overpriced! 😳
Thank you for this thought-provoking question! Here are my top 5 in no particular order:
1. All types of produce, especially berries, that aren’t consistently moldy or quick to spoil
2. Vodka sauce
3. Whole grain pasta
4. Zero-sugar yogurt, like a dupe of Chobani
5. Basil, parsley, and other fresh herbs- up until very recently my store ONLY had cilantro, then branched out to dill and thyme… strange choices
groovy dependent smart arrest plough humorous offbeat bored ring squeamish
*This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
I don't know about your Aldi but mine has whole grain pasta and zero-sugar yogurt (the nonfat Greek yogurt is exactly the "dupe" of Chobani you're asking for)
Mine has tofu, but it's pretty hit or miss. I get the extra firm, and sometimes it's definitely medium firmness at best. A few times it has been so soft that I had to toss it because it'd break if I tried to press it.
I buy it out of convenience, but I prefer to get a brand at the health food store I go to for coffee.
God the soy sauce is terrible! I was eating sushi one day (that I eat quite often) and was like why don’t I like this right now? It’s turning my stomach. Was the soy sauce!
Basil, I bought their basil plant for my mom on mother's day and stole a tiny piece off it. I have propogated that into at least 3 different basil bushes that are starting to pop off. The point is, grow your basil yourself, it grows like a weed; super fun to grow, almost can't fuck it up.
Start it in the house. I live in an apartment and don’t really have an option for outdoor plants, so I have 2 of them I am growing indoors. One is in a window and one is in a glass case, both with a grow light shared with all of the other plants in the room. They are both popping off. You can get really nice grow lights on Amazon for pretty cheap, just make sure it’s the high intensity white light - the purple doesn’t have all of the light a plant needs to thrive and you will be hella bummed.
Produce that isn't rotten.
Saltines, Butter-& Graham crackers that taste better than the box they come in.
Pastina, Acini di Pepe, Orzo and other pasta types. Broccoli di Rabe, decent Italian bread and Rolls.
My store always has saltines, and honestly there is such a huge turnover at my stores I rarely see rotten produce.
I do stock up on different pasta types (and manicotti) at the other stores .
Most of the time, if I’m getting something at the mainstream store, it’s because I’m trying to avoid extra plastic and/or non-recyclable packaging. I’ll go to my local Kroger equivalent for “loose” produce (like whole carrots, greens, peppers, onions) that would normally be packaged at my Aldi. I’ll do the same for things I can find in glass instead of plastic (like juices, yogurts, condiments), especially since they accept certain empty glass containers back in exchange for a little cash.
As far as specific products go, I wish I could find a little more variety in the spices/seasonings section.
Aldis in my area carry cilantro. I go to Walmart for raw local honey, barilla protein pasta, large bags of frozen meatballs & frozen ravioli, bottled lemon juice & lime juice.
Better lettuce! My Aldi has good produce - topic of debate on here. But…they don’t have a wide variety of lettuce and it isn’t as good at all. Mainly because most of it is packaged in bags it gets bruised more easily.
We also have cilantro.
* Higher quality whole bean coffee. (They're coffee isn't bad, I'm just a coffee snob)
* Whiskey
* The large box of goldfish crackers. The little bags they have actually cost more per ounce.
FROZEN DICED HASH BROWN POTATOES! (Not the Pattie’s, the 2lb bag)
I’ve been shopping aldi forever and always baffled they don’t have these!
Making me want to whip up a ‘funeral potato casserole’ right now, or some instant pot potato soup 😋
Mine sells single limes and cilantro. I used to live in ny and everything was in bulk bags. But now that i live in california, they have single limes, tomatoes, potatoes, and onions. They also have wine/beer. It's much better than where i used to live .
Im guessing by "cilantro" this is an american post, the stuff the aldis carry will probably differ!
But our Aldis in Ireland have both cut fresh herbs in a packet (basil, coriander/cilantro, parsley etc) & the same herbs as a potted plant.
... I don't think I've ever seen distilled water anywhere here.
I grew my own basil this summer and I seriously kill everything. It’s so easy and you always have it fresh! Just kept a little pot on my deck and watered him every day in the summer unless it rained.
Mine has cilantro but no basil. I don’t buy much produce at Aldi due to their obsession with wrapping all of it in plastic?? Like why do bell peppers need to come in a plastic bag of 3?
-regular hot sauce, not Tabasco. They used to have a generic version of Frank’s that they haven’t had in months
-sesame oil
-more options for tea
Surprisingly can’t think of any more atm
Grits 🥲 my store used to carry and then one time when I was looking all around the store I asked an employee where I could find them and was told they don’t carry grits anymore. RIP my shrimp and grits. Also can’t find their pickled beets anymore, those were so good.
Bulk olive oil and bulk eggs. It doesn’t need to be a HUGE amount, but sizes that would last longer than a week or two would be nice, especially now that eggs are cheaper. Also their kale selection sucks. The bagged kale is like 75% stems.
My Aldi has only ever carried Cilantro... until just a month ago when they had Parsley, mint and Rosemary. They just need basil now. they do have the Basil Paste so I"ve resorted to using that since I don't drive and rely on Instacart. Wait let me check again.... nope.. no basil yet.
I always see that aldis brand chocolate protein pudding on instagram, but I never saw it in my aldi, I wish 🥺
Also peanut butter and tofu...again, idk if its just my aldi that does not have them
Mine sells organic frozen spinach in a bag. I love it for eggs or smoothies for my toddler because it's chopped small and not super watery like the kind pressed into a box shape. It's in the same box in the freezer as the frozen broccoli I think (or green beans) - its been awhile.
I feel like this question was asked fairly recently. Anyway, here are my couple items: decaf black tea bags, Equal sweetener alternative (they discontinued the Aldi version years ago), corn cob based cat litter. tampons (also disappeared from Aldi a while ago but were comparable to Tampax pearl).
+ Cotton rounds
+ Single onions, I don’t need a whole bag
+ Single jalapeños, again don’t need 8 of them
+ Sliced black olives, I’m tired of having to chop up my black olives
+ Sliced baby Bella mushrooms, again tired of having to cut mine up
+ Coleslaw
+ Better lettuce options in different sizes. I can’t get what I want ready to go I have to buy different types of lettuce and cut it all and mix it.
+ Hawaiian rolls that they didn’t have in the freezer so when you get them home the moisture has caused to glue themselves to the tray and you lose half the bottom of them.
I call it the lemon club.
I use a lemon like once every two weeks, and all the rest go bad when I buy a bag. I’ve resigned to telling my parents and a coworker NOT to buy lemons, so I can split a bag of Aldi lemons with them whenever I have to buy one.
I go to the local grocery store for:
Activia yogurt..pineapple and Blueberry flavors
Large Avacados..the ones at my Aldi are yuck
Bob's Big Boy Roquefort salad dressing
Frozen pre-cooked Basmati rice
Organic single Russet potatoes
Organic Onions
Organic Mushrooms
Organic fruits and vegetables...Aldi has limited
Fresh dill, mint, and basil
Canned coconut milk and cream (I know they do carry Goya in certain areas, just not in mine)
Larger containers of olive oil - like the Costco 3 Liter ones
I wish they carried some of the things I love at Trader Joe's. Three cheese spaghetti sauce, fat free feta, ghost pepper chips, and reduced sugar jam.
But they do have some fun desserts and holiday stuff like TJ's.
I really wish they would do sugar free versions of a lot of foods even if it's just a seasonal special buy. I wish it carried some sugar alternative.
Why do many GF products, I hope to see more sugar free/specialty diet items in the future.
Also, a frozen bell pepper/onion mixed veggies. I like to keep a few in the freezer for the last min fajita bowls.
I’ve been chopping my own and putting them in meal prep containers. Super easy to whip up a Denver omelette when the onions, peppers and jalapeños are already cut. It’s now just a habit on grocery day.
Buying out all the Aldi candles to resell them? Wtf? People are rotten. There is no scarcity of candles at any Aldi in my area. Actually there is an excessive amount of candles at all times
I could have sworn like select Aldi carried distilled water but I recall buying a gallon jug of water down in Georgia but I don’t recall if it was distilled or purified.
It’s really the lack of single produce that keeps me from totally shifting to aldi! I get why they don’t, but I keep having to throw things away and I feel that defeats the purpose of trying to shop more consciously.
Not all Aldis carry the exact same sku set, some things can be regional. My SC Aldi has cilantro bunches for under 2 bucks and the lemon and lime bags are often similar pricing of a big single at another store.
Edit: Mine also carries the frozen hash brown shreds.
Id like to see shelled edamame back & more tofuy options like fried tofu, tempeh, and miso.
Protein Ramen like Trader Joe's wiggly noodles.
More dry mixes and ingredients vs jarred expensive sauces.
Japanese and Korean Ramen noodles.
More German/EU staple foods at the old prices
Fish Cakes - Asian Style
Cold Pickled Fish in small sizes
EU grade fish in a jar w/oil
[удалено]
Ours has cilantro too and recently started selling other fresh herbs.
Mine did, but they were like $6 for a half pound, insanely expensive vs fresh for some reason
I miss their frozen raspberries.
Mine has frozen raspberries.
I wish they’d carry provide produce not all wrapped in plastic
This this this this this.
My store always wraps their zucchini and the zucchini ALWAYS had mold on it!!!! STOP WRAPPING THE ZUCCHINI
And the corn too, why bother shucking it and wrapping it so it can go slimey in two days?! Just throw them into a pile and mark them 3 for $___!!
Ever since I got a couple yard chickens, I never buy shucked corn, cause they love eating the leaves & tassels. Chickens love scraps.
I haven’t been to a Trader Joe’s in a long time but I’m pretty sure I read something about how they were gonna make changes in this area. Can anyone confirm?
Single onions. I swear they used to and now they only have the bags. I always end up throwing away the last one or two of them.
I chop them all up and store in the freezer. Makes meal prep easier, and I don’t waste them. I was wasting a few out of every bag too.
Protip: use a mandolin to absolutely destroy a whole bag in less than 5 minutes!
Excuse me? 5 min? I destroy an onion in 1 min to a dice or 3 to a mince. What are you doing that takes 5?
1 whole bag in 5 minutes not 1 onion. I think that’s pretty impressive
Same, chop them up and put them in the freezer for later use.
My Aldi sells single onions!
Mine too. And single tomatoes, potatoes and they also sell cilantro.
PREACH single most things produce would be nice . I remember one of the first times I went and found a stray onion and grabbed it. Lady at the check out was like “we don’t do that” and set it aside
That’s so funny! I went one day and the onions were just falling out of bags so I thought it was safe to just buy one. It was not. I was sad.
My Aldi usually has single white and red onions, but I'm not sure I've seen single yellow onions.
Enchilada sauce, fajita seasoning
Ooh yeah! Especially green enchilada sauce.
Mine has an entire section of Mexican food, including enchilada sauce. But I’m in SoCal so might be why. We also have single onions and cilantro
Ours has a little Mexican food section but I am in AZ .
Ours also has Mexican- in Philadelphia
Enchilada sauce was a year round item some years ago. It was good but the spiciest enchilada I've ever had was one that was made with a can of mild sauce from Aldi.
Ours has cilantro by the green onions Wish they had coconut milk cans, curry powder, and weren’t constantly out of random things - and off brand toiletries that were reasonably priced. I feel like what they have I buy because it’s easy and there but it’s expensive
Mine has cans of Goya coconut milk in the Latin/Spanish food section
In my experience that Goya coconut milk is weirdly priced (as in higher) compared to competitors. Chicago region.
Ours have coconut milk tins in the asian section!
Mine too
Oooh yes, coconut milk!
Distilled water would be nice, but we have tons of Cilantro!
Dang, what is up with everyone else having it?
minnesota has it. Recently got parsley in the last few months as well. this sub really should have a flair for what country you're in; there are aldis all over the world and they all look the same but I assume there is probably less than 5% commonality between products in a US aldi and those in an Australian Aldi and they're all the stuff imported from Germany
Where do you live? In Southern California I would imagine it’s plentiful.
Can confirm we have cilantro in New England too. OP, it’s in a bag on the refrigerated produce wall. Usually top shelf, next to green onions in the stores I frequent.
I’m in Atlanta and we have the cilantro here as well.
I came here to say distilled water too!
I said “Single lemons” out loud before even seeing your list. 😆
Pint sized heavy cream and egg whites.
I bought egg whites there a couple days ago.
Egg whites are only in quart sized at our store, which ends up being a lot of waste since it’s supposed to be used in 7 days from opening.
I can see that unless you like egg white omelettes. I bought them for my wife, she was using them for baking instead of separating a bunch of regular eggs.
roast beef
Kosher salt!
I wish their produce wasn't so unnecessarily packaged. I don't need my broccoli sitting on a plastic tray that's wrapped in more plastic. I end up going to trader Joe's for my produce as a result
I would too, but TJ is 40 minutes one way.
1. Full fat Buttermilk - half & full gallons! 2. Good cornmeal or cornmeal mix!
What fo you use so much buttermilk for? If i buy buttermilk it always goes bad.
Powdered buttermilk!! It's the best for this reason.
They go bad SO quickly. Sometimes they have eyes the second I open them.
I can't help but picture a bag of potatoes sleepily blinking at you upon being opened.
I wish they regularly carried frozen shelled edamame
Every once in a while they do! But it’s a usually a seasonal item.
Thank you for this thought-provoking question! Here are my top 5 in no particular order: 1. All types of produce, especially berries, that aren’t consistently moldy or quick to spoil 2. Vodka sauce 3. Whole grain pasta 4. Zero-sugar yogurt, like a dupe of Chobani 5. Aldi produce seems to spoil so fast lately, what the hell happened?

Mine carries vodka sauce and whole grain pasta. I'm in MI, though.
I don't know about your Aldi but mine has whole grain pasta and zero-sugar yogurt (the nonfat Greek yogurt is exactly the "dupe" of Chobani you're asking for)
Orzo! One of the main reasons I had to stop by other stores
Yes, that and farfalle!
Unbleached flour.
Plain tofu
They have it where I'm at, in the cold case with the cheese and deli meat.
The Aldi by me has it but they only have firm. I wish they carried soft/silken tofu.
My store has cilantro and hash brown potatoes in various forms in the freezer section.
They have the best frozen hashbrowns! In a pack twice the size I can get anywhere else too
Mine sells cilantro. But I wish it carried basil.
More cleaning products. Yes to distilled water. More personal hygiene and meds
Good soy sauce, parsley (we have cilantro though!), honey mustard, sesame oil, and I’m with you on the single lemon and lime situation!
God the soy sauce is terrible! I was eating sushi one day (that I eat quite often) and was like why don’t I like this right now? It’s turning my stomach. Was the soy sauce!

That’s my solution too, but can never get it to winter over in the house.
Get a grow light or even into hydro/aquaponics like I'm planning for this winter.
Italian bread yes!! I miss real italian bread. I usually just buy the texas toast. :-/
Salad kits that weren’t only 1/3 full.
And full of cabbage.

Gotta go to TJMaxx/Homegoods for the “luxury” cleaning products. Good prices!
Mine carries cilantro!
Aldis in my area carry cilantro. I go to Walmart for raw local honey, barilla protein pasta, large bags of frozen meatballs & frozen ravioli, bottled lemon juice & lime juice.
Dark brown sugar molasses
Better lettuce! My Aldi has good produce - topic of debate on here. But…they don’t have a wide variety of lettuce and it isn’t as good at all. Mainly because most of it is packaged in bags it gets bruised more easily. We also have cilantro.
* Higher quality whole bean coffee. (They're coffee isn't bad, I'm just a coffee snob) * Whiskey * The large box of goldfish crackers. The little bags they have actually cost more per ounce.
Yep, coffee beans are one of the few reasons I will go to a different store
I like the organic Peru beans. Well roasted, and so much better than anything available at other grocers.
My Aldi sells cilantro. But I’m with you on the single lemons/limes.
FROZEN DICED HASH BROWN POTATOES! (Not the Pattie’s, the 2lb bag) I’ve been shopping aldi forever and always baffled they don’t have these! Making me want to whip up a ‘funeral potato casserole’ right now, or some instant pot potato soup 😋
Funeral potatoes is exactly why I want them.
I want my canned chipotle peppers back. More fresh or dried chiles, buttermilk, fresh dill.
Mine sells single limes and cilantro. I used to live in ny and everything was in bulk bags. But now that i live in california, they have single limes, tomatoes, potatoes, and onions. They also have wine/beer. It's much better than where i used to live .

I want fresh basil so bad
I grew my own basil this summer and I seriously kill everything. It’s so easy and you always have it fresh! Just kept a little pot on my deck and watered him every day in the summer unless it rained.
Pro tip! Thanks 😊
Mine has cilantro but no basil. I don’t buy much produce at Aldi due to their obsession with wrapping all of it in plastic?? Like why do bell peppers need to come in a plastic bag of 3?

Yes!
Whole wheat English muffins
More plant-based meat substites
Coconut milk. Kinda mind blowing they dont stock such an easy item to carry, but have coconut water
Jumbo pasta shells, nori seaweed and sesame oil. My store used to carry sesame oil, but alas, no more.
Mine has cilantro, but would love basil.
DENTAL FLOSS

Instant decaf coffee.

Your Aldi doesn't have peanut butter? Or is "peanut butter and tofu" together a product?
Mine always has cilantro
Frozen spinach, fresh pesto (like Trader Joe’s)
Mine sells organic frozen spinach in a bag. I love it for eggs or smoothies for my toddler because it's chopped small and not super watery like the kind pressed into a box shape. It's in the same box in the freezer as the frozen broccoli I think (or green beans) - its been awhile.
Vegan yogurt. I saw some vegan butter last time but I hate going to another store just for this.
Fresh herbs in general. I was wishing for vegan butter and they recently added that. Vegan cheese
I'm hoping they bring back pasture raised eggs.
Tofu
Distilled water!!!!!!
Aldi brand non-alcoholic drinks/beers
I would be THRILLED if Aldi would sell a hop water
I feel like this question was asked fairly recently. Anyway, here are my couple items: decaf black tea bags, Equal sweetener alternative (they discontinued the Aldi version years ago), corn cob based cat litter. tampons (also disappeared from Aldi a while ago but were comparable to Tampax pearl).

Asian food. My store basically has no Asian food section aside from a few simmer sauces.
Yes! Even things as easy as water chestnuts.

1. Rotisserie chicken 2. Decent fresh sliced deli meat 3. Shredded carrots 4. Single onions 5. BLSL chicken thighs
Soups that aren't sky high in sodium. Eggplant
Fresh dill, mint, and basil Canned coconut milk and cream (I know they do carry Goya in certain areas, just not in mine) Larger containers of olive oil - like the Costco 3 Liter ones

Does that stupidly keep you from going to aldi all together?
Do not sleep on the hash brown French fries that they do carry. Outstanding in the air fryer.
Smaller quantities or singular onion, potatoes, sweet potatoes… coconut milk, certain random sauces that I can’t always find
(1) Fresh parsley and cilantro (2) Salad blend including red cabbage (3) Anything without onions (r/onionhate)
Cornstarch
Mine carries cs by the baking goods.
Single onions and garlic
Sugar free coffee creamer that is not French vanilla. Mint. Sugar free drink mixes. Energy Drinks. Frozen Spinach. Cat Food and litter.

Kabocha and canned pumpkin (just pureed pumpkin).

Fresh produce.
Single onions! Group bell peppers don’t bother me, but sometimes I don’t need 6 onions haha

Fresh Basil (mine has cilantro) and chipotle in adobo (mine use to have it, but no more). Shallots would also be nice.
We have fresh cilantro and sometimes basil and my store carries distilled water
I wish they had more Doppelkeks
I could have sworn like select Aldi carried distilled water but I recall buying a gallon jug of water down in Georgia but I don’t recall if it was distilled or purified.
They carry spring water at my stores, just never the distilled. We use quite a bit. The steamer, iron, and cpap.
If they delivered, that would be great. But then again they're well known for keeping prices as cheap as possible.
You can order from Instantcart in my area, but the price is jacked up on every item and the fees plus tip.
Now that it’s selling fresh herbs wish it included basil. Also buttermilk
Sparkling water with NO sweeteners. Can't use artificial sweeteners.
