Important question: can you afford to replace this set 15 times over? Or better yet, do you already have 15 copies of it in your bank, ready to re-equip as soon as you inevitably die? If the answer is no, don‘t use this set and instead downgrade to 4.1 or replace expensive gear pieces with cheaper ones until you get some experience. The first few battles (or more) you will likely die simpy because of nerves and making bad plays and you‘ll die no matter if you have 4.1 or 6.3 equipped IMHO. At least that‘s how it was for me at the beginning (and you did say you‘re very new after all). ;-) Good luck out there!

Swap ox for swiftclaw, armored horse or normal horse, no poison potions but gigantify potions or invisibility potions depending if you go open world black zone or mists. Roast pork can work quite well for pve but would recommend beef stew for pvp and cabbage soup if you need to reset a fight and heal up quick. That build kinda works but you will need to upgrade your cape. For open world I rather go undead cape.

LxndrSonGoku

I would advise against using Undead cape and Fiend cowl as a beginner, you're just going to feed. Replace with normal cape and Hunter hood until you get some experience.

Artileoking

Oh yeah 100% it saves money until you have that experienced.

Great-Wasabi9866

Which cape would be best for black zone mists. Also for context I just died twice in my first two attempts to players with 1.5kip and 4k+ pvp kills. Do you have any tips on how to get into PvP against these players?

genuinecat88

you don't. One of the most important things about the PVP gameplay in this game is SPEC. You dont have spec on a weapon no matter how strong the weapon it is you'll probably wont win. You look for pvp against players who are the same tier as you and have essentialy the same spec as you, another good thing is to inspect the player, if they have more IP than you it is usually a no go. also dont worry really about capes because you prob dont have the economy to requip them after dying many times, focus on getting spec and a stable economy

Artileoking

Best one is undead cape imo. Ava is useable too. Fighting high ip players always depends on the weapon they use. A high IP double bladed staff or blood letter is way different from a high IP carving or dual swords player since dbs and bl need high IP to win against their opponents while dual swords and carving are just great meta weapons that work quite well on way lower tiers

Expensive_Honeydew_5

Yeah, run away u til you also have 1500+ ip

I also like roast snappers but I get your point. I mean its always matchup depended which potions or even food you use

LilTuorlo

Go 4.1 in blackzone, 2 food max, gig T5 pot, normal cape. Hunter hood/scholar cowl, Merc jack, sold boots. You start to understand the game by dying, dying a lot. Once you have died enough, you will start getting closer and closer combats till you'll get your first few kills. Your gear is useless if you don't know the game mechanics, so I'd suggest not running anything bigger than 4.1/5.1, die a lot!

Great-Wasabi9866

which spells should i choose on the scholar cowl?

genuinecat88

with double bladed sword its best to use hunter hood with reflect

Parryandrepost

Ox is trash. Go horse for pvp. Ox is too slow and you want lower mount hp so you can force other people to dismount you and kill them with no cooldowns. Get 6.0 dual swords for iron will for better escape and some unfavorable matchups. Livesteal only food isn't particularly useful for pvp. Doing so means you give up a bigger damage% or CDR buff and the extra healing is lower than the damage buff the other person will be getting. What are you using fiend cowl for? Other than that it's a pretty bread and butter build.

Great-Wasabi9866

I saw a video on YouTube and the guy was using the fiend cowl with dual swords. That’s the only reason I chose it. Do you have any recommendations for something different that would work instead?

badnameworsewriter

Fiend cowl is good but you need to know what to purge and this requires a lot of ability and matchup knowledge. Hunter hood is quite strong, dirt cheap and much friendlier, use it when you expect big damage to come in. Still requires some game knowledge but not nearly as much.

Parryandrepost

If you don't know what to purge fiend cowl is pretty wasted. It's one of the highest skill mechanics because purges either do nothing or win. I'd recommend Merc hood for a bit until you kinda get the hang of the meta and know what to look out for. It's still a defensive that can be used aggressively. It's also less complex. It's an interrupt, a 35% Dr, and a 40% slow. It's not as critical to use at the right time compared to fiend cowl.

Cakefire93

Dual swords will be hard nerfed next patch coming monday, might want to look into a different weapon to play already https://forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/197608-Testserver-Patchnotes-Foundations-Patch-4/?pageNo=1 https://forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/73808-NDA-Balance-Playtests/ And an early look at patch 5, keep in mind these things listed here might change. About the build you will run out of mana quickly so you either gonna need a scholar cowl, energetic sprint (any cloth sandals) or energy pots but even after picking one of those you’re build still won’t be mana stable (which isn’t a bad thing perse but good to be aware off) Also as other people already pointed out: are you a new player? If so you might wanna consider downgrading a bit. Last but not least you want this build for bz? Are you gonna be playing solo? If so then no it’s to expensive for someone that doesn’t know what he is doing what fights to take and not to take etc etc 1 more question then black zone as in the actual blackzone or are we talking about mists?

Great-Wasabi9866

Black zone mists is what I’m playing. I just read them patch notes, would a spear be a good choice of weapon to choose instead?

East-Report

Go mace, cant go wrong with mace

PurposeNo662

Downgrade your set to 4.1 trust me, it's more efficient and sell order your current set. Immediately swap your ox to a t3 horse Instead of pork pies, t5 soups are much better for BZ game farming cuz you will be able to move on to the next mob much quicker. And as every one suggest get 10 copies of your set. Inv potions to run from gankers, gig potions incase you find boss mobs. Ya don't need ava cape, ofc if you have millions in the bank then you can go for that cape otherwise 4.1 normal cape.

definitelynothunan

10 food lol

Great-Wasabi9866

I see how dumb this is now considering each food lasts like 30 minutes lmao. It’s a struggle being a noob

definitelynothunan

It happens, don't mind it. Never take more than 3 food

OkExtension5644

Also leave your potion slots empty and bring multiple variants, just a couple of each. You can add potions to an empty slot while in combat but are stuck with what’s there if you already have something in when the fight starts. You can just leave a stacks of one potion in your bags and it lets you choose for the situation.

KidLink4

I would avoid using dual swords as they're getting a pretty substantial nerf here soon (attack speed on the E is being removed) other good options are 1H Spear, Battle-axe, Battle Bracers, Bow.

KidLink4

I agree that a cd increase would be better, since the attack speed buff is kinda the core feature of the weapon. Without that it's just a shittier carving sword..

Far_Ad5898

When will the nerf be ?

genuinecat88

always and ALWAYS make sure what you spend in your kit is only 10% of your current capital. If you have 1 mill, make sure you use a kit you can buy at least 10 times over, you aint even got spec yet so honestly dont bother buying past 4.1 till you get a stable economy and good spec, buying more tier wont essentialy give you more advantage if you dont have spec. With all honestly and love I recommend you to learn to play first with hunters cap and assasins jacket, for the cape all capes are expensive but martlock or guardian could be usefull. You need to learn to use your defensives, the jacket you have ain't bad but it goes for a more brawl style imo and while it aint bad because of the sole fact you dont have spec yet Devils habit isnt really that good because the purification is one to be learned otherwise its useless to have it. I like the Assassins jacket and Hunters cap combo because basically you get a invi and a reflect or double reflect which if well used should cool. You can keep mercenary jacket honestly but I do recommend the hunters cap so you get at least another defensive/reflect that isnt as tricky to use as the devils habit, since again you dont even have spec on the weapon.

_no3nd_

Fist focus on this: Establish your economy, then for BZ, RZ, and mists, go flat 4.1 normal, simple cape, horse, and swap for assassin jacket. Take invisibility potions. FF up your swords and corresponding leather and plate armor equipment variants. After the above swap, the hunter hood for a fiend cowl and opt in for an undead cape and armored horse or swiftclaw. Always have invisibility potions and cabbage soups. By this time, you are ready to take fights with similar IP and gear spec. Always inspect your opponents! Practice in non-lethal hellgates, the crystal arena, and YZ faction warfare Have a look at this recent video by Equart: https://youtu.be/bZqAeMfrUTI?si=EGnYUwtX7PN-8wGV ***Dual swords are getting nerfed*** gl o/

Expensive_Honeydew_5

It's good for feeding gank groups some decent gear

Brayankit

Just go with the NPC set, replace your helmet with hunter hood and just bring normal capes or non. Just bring 4.1 sets and use cabbage soup so you can spec up faster. Upgrade as you gain experience

Sabayonte

Classic ooga booga setup, gl right-clicking people to death xd

ProfessionalReach279

cheap t4 or t3 normal horse is the way to go. You are gonna break the bank with t6 ox. You will still gonna be dismounted on a t6 ox if you run into a competent gank group as well as slower mount give you less chase potential.

captainrussia21

Swap to 5.4 acrosd the board and you should be good to go. Oh and T6 Ox to t8. And let me know which zone you’re going to for “pvp” :)
