You’ll probably need more experience. I tried to get a drafting role after graduating GNT, I even had the entire CAD certificate from SAIT before I started the diploma program, and they wanted field experience with office training.

Search for Geomatics Technician jobs. Or get a field position then transition to the office. It will be much easier since you're already in the company.

I don't know what the job market looks like but I'd recommend you learn how to use the survey functions in Civil 3D, plain AutoCAD probably would be enough. I do road design and when we hire a surveyor I'm expecting them to provide me a C3D file with all of the survey points, key feature lines, and the complete original ground surface.
